This Is Not A Blue Bottle 1.4

I adore this underrated fragrance, which smells to me like a more wearable, translucent version of Musc Ravageur by Frederic Malle. And so it might - it shares many of the same notes, the most noticeable being what's in the middle - lavender, Tonka and Labdanum. Talking of which, this also smells like Le Labo's Labdanum, but better. This is full bottle worthy for me. I've also owned Musc Ravageur.

A really nice unique cola scent, without being gourmand or too sweet. As you can tell from previous reviews, it's hard to describe this in words because this is a really unique scent. If I try to describe it, I can't get any further than fresh, cola-like... really good!

My favourite out of this line I couldn’t help but notice that it reminds some users of musc ravaguer which made me get very excited to try it since I loved this one Longevity was very good and even after 6 hours you can still smell it vividly

Smells exactly how a fruitcake tastes. The difference is that this is light on the cake and heavy on the fruit rinds and spices. Longevity was not impressive, unless oversprayed. It's a very unique take on a spicy fragrance.

So comforting- herbal/tonicy - noxema in the best way possible. I love this during the day.

Opens with a deeper aromatic clean and slightly spicy and herbal opening. I get vanilla sweetness for a bit. Wearing this throughout the day I enjoyed the little whiffs that almost made it feminine to me but never ventured far. Looking at the notes now the ylang-ylang (a note I typically avoid due to its feminine leaning attributes) keeps the fragrance fresh and light, while the remaining amber grounds it in a aromatic dance with the benzoin sweetness. A bit deeper refreshing and smart fragrance, and probably my third favorite after 1.1 and 1.6 in this series.

Sweet, spicy, resinous thing with a fruity top. I can see the resemblance to the "Roucel woody/amber family" (Musc Ravageur, Labdanum, etc.), but the davana note in this differentiates it for sure. The prickly woods, amber, and fruity sweetness also brings to mind Parfumerie Generale's L'Oiseau de Nuit...almost a love child between that and MR, or perhaps like Ravageur went on a tropical vacation. Glad to have a small bottle and that Histories offers 15 ml bottles!

It's a very intriguing composition. In the opening, I get peeled oranges stuffed with cloves (orbprobably cardamom to be correct), a typical Christmas vibe, flashed with a mix of ylang-yland and artemisia. The orange dissappears after 1 hour and you get quite a prominent tonka bean/ lavender sillage for the next ~4-5h. This is a scent that a typical lover would wear, passion, sex and mystery. If worn to office, you should be careful with the application. :)

lavender, cardamom and benzoin with a bed of ylang ylang and labdanum ... it's all ... to a careful feeling also artemisia participates in the composition and it is also possible a participation of tonka bean and patchouli (but the latter, only as an appearance) ... the duration despite the resin present can be improved, but the sillage is worthy of note ... a very well executed contemporary work

I'm going with 'safe' for this one IF you are an Amber spicy fan. Well blended .. chistmassy... actually smells like several 80's men's fragrances you could pick up in Boots. Infinitely wearable, pleasant. May be your thing, but a little left of centre for me.

I kinda like this but I think this ylang ylang clashes with the heavier notes. Not as animalic as Le Labo Labdanum 18, and not as benzoin/vanilla heavy as Musc Ravageur. Better than Byredo 1996 imo. Drydown is borderline gourmand(ish) and kinda smell like slightly boozy graham crackers on my skin. Patchouli is present throughout. I don't think it's bad but it's not my thing. Performance is average. Scent 5/10 Performance 5/10

On my skin, this smells very sweet and candied, like the little pieces of fruit you get in Christmas cakes. On the paper, I get more of the top notes (slightly bitter and herbal), but on skin, pure, slightly juvenile gourmand. I have Musc Ravageur - not similar at all, though I also agree that Musc Ravageur, rather than being a "musk", smells like a Christmas array of spices.

This is a very funny scent, smells like cinammon and candy. I cannot take this seriously, I acquired a 15ml bottle which I have used a total of 0 times. Not insisting that it smells bad, just not something wearable for me. My younger brother who currently is 13 years old loves this, he smells it whenever he can and seems to not get tired of it. Weird one

Honestly? I don't know what I'm smelling... Gummy jellies? Cinnamon candies? Jaffa cakes? I don't know, a bit of everything I guess. The effect is something sweet, fruity, slightly spicy... Not my jam (pun intended) 🤪 but I admit it's unlike anything I've smelt before!

You know what it smells like ? Burger shaped gummy candies

Awful. The opening smells like chemicals you get from the hardware store for stripping paint and is completely sharp, intrusive and offensive. The drydown reminds me of the disinfectant spray my parents used after we threw up when I was a child. It smells like Ylang-Ylang scented Lysol. I am very open minded and don't usually have strong reactions like this. It takes a lot for me to want to throw a fragrance in the trash as I will usually think "maybe in 6 months this will strike me different." Not this one. This overly synthetic stink bomb is on its way to the dump right now and that's where it belongs.

The cardamom and lavender in this fragrance aren't bad on their own, don't get me wrong, and the orange-clove holiday feel isn't totally lost on me, but there is something to the composition that SPECTACULARLY throws that off - commentors below sort of get it right with the curry and fruitcake comparisons imho. I think it might be the ylang-ylang. Both nauseating and headache-inducing to me. 1/10

This ylang-ylang is too much strong. I can barely feel the other notes. For my taste is a no. I don’t understand why in the hell some wackos compared this to Musc Ravageur. Absolutely nothing in common!

This is bad in a lot of ways. Smells like spicy chutney mixed with curry, I dont know what to say more. Horrible to the nostrils

Strong at first but dries down to something very wearable. Being honest I bought it as on sale for great price. I like it more with each wear but it won’t be a scent for everybody. Warm but not too spiced which is why I like it. Not too potent. Slight sweetness that saves it from being nasty after first sprayed, but you have to wait for the dry down. It’s nice. Takes the parts I like in Obsession and not the parts that burn the back of your mouth. (Really don’t get along with Obsession) Edit: I’m liking it more and more and really grown on me. Getting slight Kouros Fraicheur memories. Huh 🤔 Definitely worth giving a chance. Love it 😍 Edit: Just purchased Musk Ravageur and this smells very very similar. It’s Sharper and less fruity.

This is fruity, like the slightly herbal sugar at the bottom of a jar of old fashioned English hard sweets. It seems to have one not and is not a very complicated smell? It’s nice enough, but you have to shove your nose into your wrist to smell it - no projection at all. It smells a bit like a nice conditioner or something, not particularly like a perfume. Fruity and herbal. Not worth £100!

This one is super weird - to me it smells exactly like those Bigelow peach tea bags. Fruity, herbal and slightly floral. It smells great but not sure id want to wear this as a perfume. I’ll keep sampling though to see if maybe my thoughts toward this change.

Unisex scent, towards the masculine side. Comfortable dusty herbal tonka heart and drydown. Artemisia and lavander give it a modern aftershave vibe. Beautiful for a boy on summer holidays evenings

Fun sour fruity floral, gains more depth with ambery and green notes as it dries down. Mediocre performance

Smells like a sweet and citrusy coke lollipop. Easy to wear.
