Veni

I was lucky enough to get a bottle of this for next to nothing - and it's turned into the best blind buy for me ever. How Should I put this..? "AMBERGRIS PERFECTION" - that'll do. This gorgeous perfume is as soft as it is sharp. It is as feminine as it is masculine. It is also more complex than it sounds. At first, the opening was an enjoyable SHARP blast of Cardamon, Cinnamon & Lavender. Soon after, the beautiful vanilla and caramel (almost like a honey type of caramel) with the saffron appeared - and I'm sure I also smelt a hint of violet (personally). The dry down melds all the above notes together with a beautiful blend of patchouli and musk, and it's also quite woody and doesn't ever lose it's spice on me. And the Ambergris?? It's there from start to finish driving the rest of the notes....it is stunning, to put it simply. On my skin, Veni seems to evolve over time on my skin (and it does take it's time - this stuff seems to last a good 6-8 hours on my skin). I feel very pleased that my chemistry seems to adore this perfume and I will wear this both in Winter and Summer. Spicy, radiant, complex, different and addictive. If you have the opportunity to test this gem, I strongly recommend you do.

I only bought a tester, but honestly, I already love it. It’s summer here, almost 40°C, so I know this is definitely not the right weather for this perfume. But I couldn’t resist trying it. What surprised me is that I don’t really get cardamom on my skin, even though this one often appears in “best cardamom fragrances” lists. On paper, yes, the cardamom is there. On my skin, not really. For me, it’s mostly a warm caramel vanilla, with a little touch of saffron. I don’t get much lavender either. The longevity is really good: for the first six hours, I could smell it easily without bringing my wrist close to my face. I think it will be absolutely beautiful in cooler weather. Is it masculine? Only on paper, but on my skin it gives me reach gourmand smell.

This perfume has been my signature scent since I was 17 and I don't forsee that changing. It's delicious and so comforting, warm and spiced but not quite spicy, and yet misty and aquatic like a foggy grey sea. The combination of cardamom, cinnamon, lavender, and ambergris plays so interestingly and beautifully and I'm obsessed. According to HdP's website, it's inspired by the Odyssey and wearing it makes me feel like a siren on a cliffside over crashing waves on a freezing day. I love Veni forever and always. <3

Very enjoyable. Spicy, gourmandish somewhat warm/cousy fragrance, which isn't too heavy to wear in the warmer months. First you get blasted with saffron and fresh spices in the opening, then the guaiac/aoud note creeps up and dominates, but within the hour it settles down and i cant detect the aoud anymore. What stays is creamy spices and some amber and soft woods. And I love the cardamom note in this one, really nice. So, another Histoires fragrance that i like a lot! 90

I keep thinking about this line that was somewhere in that Perfumes guide about how whenever you have a collection like this there will be a winner and two duds. In my opinion, this is the winner from this collection. The other two smell fine, but this is the only one that smells worth the price tag to me. I expect though that someone who preferred lighter scents might disagree with that statement though.

Really excellent upfront cardamom note in this one, very realistic and high quality. The other notes help elevate that further, minor florals to give an airiness, cinnamon to give extra spice, saffron to give a touch of leathery sweetness and patchouli to give a bit of an earthy base. I really enjoy cardamom and this one is up there with one of my favorites in YSL Splendid Wood. Thumbs up.

Probably the best cardamom perfume in my collection. This one contains Cardamom Aldehyde, which is a fresher cardamom material that helps extend the duration of the cardamom note. It pairs really well with the absolute here. Also seems to contain quite a generous dose of cinnamon on a bed of musks, vanilla, ambrox and synthetic oakmoss. Brilliant formula!

This is very nice. A not overly sweet gourmand with spiciness from cardamom and cinnamon, and freshness from the lavender. The dry down strangely reminds me of Frederic Malle Musc Ravageur, but this is sweeter and without the abundance of dirty (sexy!) musc. I enjoy this, my only complaint is that it sits quite close to the skin without much projection.

Powerful cinnamon with a nice amount of cardamom (that opens both warm and cold facets) and a bit of lavender. It quite quickly turns into a deeper balsamic and slightly sweet scent, but the spice part is still very strong. I like that it’s on the edge of gourmand fragrances but still not quite there yet. Intriguing and mesmerizing balance.

A glorious concoction of lavender, benzoin, and marigolds, floating on a musky, vanilla, slightly sweet raft, on a patchouli river. Kind of gourmand, kind of not. I blind bought a sample of this and I'm absolutely going back for the full bottle.

This is a beautiful blend of savory ambergris and caramel mixed with a touch of spicy and bitter notes such as cardamom and galbanum. It is not too mellow nor too spicy, but just perfect. Very long lasting with a reasonably good sillage.

I am quite surprised as this oddly reminds me of some designer frags and a much softer FM Music for a While, yet it has some great hidden subtlety which is quite easy to miss. Edit: Changed to a love from an initial like.

For me, this is the ultimate Christmas perfume. Warm and spicy realistic cardamom, and alot of it.

In my top 50 fragrances of all time. Highest possible recommendation.

Picked up a travel size while traveling, getting a chance to try everything in store that I didn't already test via my previous travel down their discovery sets. I settled on this one because it was second to my first choice of Petroleum (nothing like Veni), but they were out of that one. What I recall from testing in store was it's luxurious feel without being stuffy, too big, or overdone. I love the deep amber base with oud, and the aromatic of infused spice that swirls around it. It's an easy go to for a nice evening out but kind and comfy enough for fall sweater weather and staying in. It's familiar but not obvious. Unisex, but nostalgic to me as leaning masculine. About the only note I don't get is the caramel. At times it comes off as a memory fading light leather-tobacco, but that just showcase the fragrances layered complexity, as those notes aren't even there. While it does hang for the first bit of time as strong in projection, I found it more moderate in daily wearing. For me the price point is between ok and a bit overpriced. While the longevity is respectable, a bit more hanging around, even at a more pronounced skin level would be more indicative of the price point. Sometimes, your looking for more of just the right variation more than major theme, and in the realm of amber-spicy aromatic fuzziness, this one dials it in just right.

This smells almost identical in the opening with PDM Habdan. But then Habdan gets sweeter, fruitier, and warmer, while Histoires de Parfums Veni gets more aromatic, more lavendery, cooling, and slightly green-ish. Both beautiful and lean towards more on the masculine side of the fragrance gender spectrum, if that really exists. However, if you asked me to pick the favorite out of these twinsies, I would go for Habdan (sorry Veni) because his personality attracts me more with that cozy and warm-hearted inside that heavy-metal look of him. Veni on the other hand looks so sleek and shiny with that gold bottle and a cool black cap. However, there's something in the juice that put me off a little and I guess it might be the ambergris note in the dry down. With that being said, I think the Histoires de Parfums Veni is a beautiful blend and gorgeous presentation. If I never encountered PDM Habdan before I would totally keep it in my collection. Yeah, I'm letting this one go sadly, but I'll definitely explore more from this house in a near future. ;)

The cardamom note alone is stunning, leaning toward juicy sweetness but not neglecting the sharp top end. The way it blends into cinnamon and lavender is wonderful and makes the composition drier. Beyond that, there are so many things hiding in this- upon revisiting I get completely different secondary notes: leather, tobacco, iris, campfire browned marshmallows, etc, each there and gone(apart from the marshmallows). But much of this is that I'm reaching for ways to describe the several notes in this that I'm not terribly familiar with. That it doesn't just turn into mud is a testament to the fine line between complex and muddled and how this composition steps right up to it without going over. In any case, most are only discernible on close inspection and for all intents and purposes it's a very well constructed dry gourmand fragrance. I cannot get over that cardamom, though. I've rarely encountered such a complete and lasting representation. Very impressive, fairly linear in its strongest notes, decent longevity and sillage, and unisex.

This one is really nice. I have HdP Moulin Rouge since a couple of years back, but I can never seen to feel ”at home” in that one, even though I had thought it would fit me perfectly, given the enthusiastic reviews it had got! I like it in a way, and it is beautiful, sensual and romantic - but it is just not me! But Veni - in this one I can relax and enjoy the cozy, spicy warmth. And it is not ”too much, either. A very Winters fragrance. Good enough for Christmas, or the times around it. I as a woman, like to cuddle up in a sofa with this. But maybe, just MAYBE, my man can try it on too, if I decide to be real nice to him! (He deserves it. But not the whole bottle...) By the way, I just have an 8 ml sample. Will see in time, if I maybe will buy a whole bottle.

This is my first fragrance from Histoires de Parfums, I received it at a gift. It's not very often I wear it, and the few times I do I remember why I rarely put it on. As others have said, I get cardamom and a bit of cinnamon..and cardamom...and CARDAMOM. I detect something else in here as well, though I am not familiar with the smell. To my nose it's just a synthetic fragrance, and not in a good way and certainly not worth the price tag of $185 for 60ml. It doesn't smell "bad", I have enough fragrances that I dislike more than this one...it's just nothing special. Longevity and sillage are average, and I have never received a compliment on it. I might wear this to work on occasion, but that's the only use I see for Veni right now.

A new interpretation of a classic fougere style , the opening is gorgeous with translucent cardamom and green lavender from where all unpleasant aromatic side has been smoothed. Overall it's like putting on a cashmere shawl around you that has just dried in the open air on a flowering meadow facing the ocean, still slightly damp from sea spray. A kind of mouth wathering spicy white musc something that i've experimented already with the excellent perfume Louis by The Zoo. With better longevity it would be amazing because after 1h on skin it smells like the base of 1899. Really good anyway It would have been perfect in the normal line with 1899 as a more refined and luxurious version of a male mainstream perfume.

oh my. this is worth every penny! At first I thought it was just another amber-based fragrance, to me a little similar to Cavalli 's new fume. Started of really strong and I could detect it has got loads of power and sillage. Nothing fancy then but as I got to the drydown, there was a surprise there. The fragrance got really deep and there is a nice woody support to it. Quite intense on the musk too. It is a must have, I gotta say that. Although aoud is not listed there, somehow I got that Montale feeling, although this one is way softer and very feminine. Another surpise after 2-3 hours into the fragrance...it is almost gone :(

aromatic, gourmand-ish, liquid gold. This is juicy, sweet, and very warm. With how many divergent notes there are it seems miraculous to me that it isn't absolutely disgusting - everything seems to be held together by rich cardamom, and I must say it is the most 'transparent', life-like, and smooth cardamom I have ever experienced. When I first tried it I don't remember thinking much of it, so this might be more appealing to fragheads who are looking to take a risk on something out of the ordinary - and I could also see this being overwhelming or nauseating if overused. 7.5/10

Veni is a somewhat of a dry gourmand -- lots of cardamom to open with woods, cinnamon and saffron in the heart, touched by a lick of caramel and salt. The woods play like dry guaiac and raspy cedar, perhaps what some are reporting as Iso E Super. Warming to a soft sweetness in the drydown that delivers the feeling of cosiness while never becoming syrupy, this is a comfortable caramel I can wear without it becoming cloying throughout the course of the day. Dry woody, spicy, salty gourmand. I find Veni very enjoyable.

As a huge fan of HdP I'm extremely dissapointed by the whole "Veni/Vidi/Vici" line. "Veni" opened good with a decant amount of cardamon and cinnamon. I also got a marvelous caramel, at that point I thought I found another good spicy amber fragrance, but it was all downhill from there - it gets messy, it gets synthetic and it fades away within 3 hours. In all honesty - after testing the whole regular HdP line I am amazed how can they come out with something like this. I'll stick to "Ambre 114".

It's a good choice if you like cardamom. It's quite strong and long lasting and for me it smells like a cake made with too much cardamom. This spicyness is a bit overwhealming to me.

P.S. This is quite close to the other HDP i.e. 1969, quite similar to each other. Revolte more peachy, this one's more vanilla.

Love this on paper - it's a fresh lavender+cardamom which is very classic and easy to wear. On my skin, I get a lot more of the base notes (unfortunately), so a lot of that sticky, caramel-base with some oakmoss, with only a little whisper of lavender in the background. Scent: Nice on paper, not for my chemistry. Polarity: Leans masculine

I guess none of this series of perfumes is working out for me. Veni, like its sisters Vici and Vidi, has way too much ambroxan and/or Iso-E-Super for me to be able to like it. That ethereal synthetic note is so intense that it simply clobbers what could have been a gorgeous spicy perfume. What I love about Veni is that the cardamom is intense, and I go nuts for cardamom. It's also a bit smokey, reminds me of Malabah, except better sillage and no tea. As it dries down, Veni starts to resemble a chewy ginger cookie, and I love those! At this stage, the ambroxan is much more tolerable because it blends better with spice than it does cucumber, angelica, or other fresh notes like in its sister fragrances. While I like Veni best of the three, I still would not want a full bottle. As I said with the other two...if ambroxan and Iso don't bother you, it's worth sampling.

Pineapple. Pineapple and cinnamon, and iso e super. Without looking at the notes, I also guessed something with citrus like grapefruit. (I know no one else is picking up some of these notes, and I understand they aren’t listed but it’s what I think I’m smelling.) A mixed bag as Veni is all over the place on my skin. I feel like it’s not sure what it wants to be as there’s too much going on, like each note wants to be the center of attention and they end up drowning each other out. Veni is polarizing for a reason. I’m writing this review to suggest it’s not a safe blind buy, sample first.

pffooo..i cant' say much about this stuff besides a 5 minute experience but those 5 minutes were enough and maybe i can scare off at least one person... It is rarely that a fragrance is truly ofputting for me that i just have to wash it of but this one does it. Truly an unbearable and chemical smell that is just to much. I,m even unable to give it some time to develop in the hope that it becomes something good. It's that unpleasant. sorry, besides it not being my taste i cannot see an art in this. The chemicals in it are not hidden enough to be good art.

I really don't get this one. The notes, reviews, and fragrances this is compared with all look great. But I all I get is a cardamom bomb with something nauseating underneath. It's got to be the cardamom, cinnamon, caramel blend. This doesn't smell anything like Habdan or Kilian apple brandy (both which I like) on my skin. One of the worst from the house imo.

This has been a bit of a rollercoaster. This seemed just my thing based on the notes so I ordered a sample as part of a batch (including Amber 114 and Noir Patchouli). First wear: pleasantly spicy but failed to move or intrigue me, as though it was less than the sum of its parts. I put it away and focused on the other samples, and considered giving it away. I did yesterday decide to try it again and this time it is so much more delicious and impressive: I do not get any of the sharpness others have mentioned. It just seems to be very well-blended but whereas that failed to leave an impression with first wear it seems beautifully done now: sweet and spicy but not heavy handed or sugary sweet. I think I can pick out cinnamon, perhaps cardamom but more as a note softening the sweetness (I love cardamom). It's very difficult for me to decipher more than that but the overall impression is that it is delightful. I have three other fragrances I am tossing up between so was not really considering a full bottle of this but the more I wear my sample, the more it is creeping up on me. Even if this isn't particularly striking, I think this is so wearable and cosy and walks the gourmand line without quite crossing it. That said I find it quite an airy soft fragrance, suitable for all seasons and perhaps that would be its strength: a spicy semi-gourmand that isn't too heavy for summer. The other bottle that it might take the place of is Feu Patchouli by Maison Rebatchi, which is also spicy but definitely warmer, more striking but also slightly more masculine, or at least less sweet. Update 25/4/21: I have a 5 ml decant of this now and while I still think it is lovely, that feels sufficient.

Iso-E-Super appears to be purposely employed rather liberally in the Veni, Vidi, Vici Editions Rares collection from Histoires de Parfums. This entry, Veni, reminds me vaguely of creations such as Jesus del Pozo In Black and By Kilian Back to Black (or is that Back in Black?), except that this one omits the cherry and licorice (details, details...). The style is similar in other regards. The composition of Veni also strikes me as similar to a couple of the regular HdP line-up perfumes... Maybe a cross between two. Let's see, how about: 1969 and 1804. I'm not sure, actually. Lots of dark wood, spices, some sweetness, but above all: tons of Iso-E-Super and ambroxan! Yes, indeed, no one will fail to take note of your presence when you wear this high-projection, radiant blend! J'arrive! And upon departure: Veni! After a while I grow weary of the aromachemical dominance. No bottle for me. I came, I sniffed, I did not buy.

This is ONLY unisex due to the amber/vanilla base, other than that, this is my father's cologne he's worn for 50 years, Halston Z-14. Because of that, I can't possibly wear this. I'm going to gift it to him as a niche upgrade to his signature scent. He may tell me it smells too girly because of the vanilla, but to me, this is a men's fragrance, and I mean, a traditional, hair on your chest, beast of a man's cologne. If this had leather in it, some basil, they traded coriander for cardamon, it's Z-14, makin' all the ladies panties drop in 1974, lol.

EXTREMELY LUXURY FRAGRANCE. This is the first thing that comes to my mind. A high quality perfume with a perfect blend of Cardamom and Ambergris. All notes are mixed meticulously and both longevity and projection are awesome. I like to wear it in cold seasons the most. I wish it was cheaper.

Again, the obsession with lavender and cardamom continues. It's a broken record now HDP, please try simplifying your fragrances and omitting these everyday homestore notes so the ambers and other main accords or sweetness can shine through. Cardamom overload. My rating: 2/10.

Gorgeous cinnamon with some depth from a dark cardamom with a sweet cakey base, lovely balanced gourmand. Good performance

verry good ... long lasting . i love it
