H&M Black Papyrus

Might be my favourite fragrance ever, it's just so so fun. It's quite sweet and rosy with tons of synthetic but realistic oud, very dense too. Love the labdanum in this also. This is one of my longer lasting and better projecting fragrances too. Just like rose absolute this just sticks to the skin, even hours of being in a sweaty club don't make them come off. Rose absolute does go a bit futher in this though. This was my first fragrance from the series and made me scrape the entire line off of the second hand market. It's such a shame how the likes of h&m and zara come out with amazing perfumes like this and then just discontinue them. I initially bought this as a dupe for across sands and while they share some resemblance I would not say they remind me of eachother anymore. I did sample the night by Frederic Malle the other day and this definitely reminds me of it, albeit with with way less skank. Don't really see how this would resemble oud for greatness/glory but have not sampled those on skin.

Yay! Black Papyrus has finally been added to the database! I've been wearing this one on and off since it first came out. I'd say, if I were to draw a similarity to a more common perfume it would be 'Across Sands' from Maison Martin Margiela. It's oud-y and spicy all at once. It's quite nice, but I have to be in a particular mood to wear it, and it's one of this collection's less accessible offerings. This scent is a great addition to the H&M line and at $30 for an EDP, it's a good value. Unfortunately, there is no way to test it before you buy it. Further, it's not really a safe blind buy as the oud may be off-putting for a lot of people.

WoW , this hits your nostrils right after spraying it on your skin with a blast of super oriental notes of perfumery . This is not for the faint of heart as it envelops you with a strong scent bubble you just want to cradle yourself in , so comforting it is. This could well be made by a niche house and surely one of the Arabian ones , for H&M to bring this out is a magnificent and daring undertaking. The cinnamon/ saffron is really present in the opening with this undercurrent of vanilla / oud already peaking it’s head . I’ll let it live and develop on my skin and will continue this later on ...

Black papyrus & Santalum are bargain buys for sure. They're so good that they've set a new standard for fast fashion in house perfumes. Tread cautiously, this might not be as common in the world of fast fashion brands as these two fragrances might have you think.

So the other day I was wearing Lattafa's 'Oud for Glory' and my mom said "oh this would suit your cousin perfectly". Then it dawned on me... THIS H&M fragrance is her signature scent!!! After looking at the notes... A realisation came to mind. Basically this is an inspiration scent of Initio's 'Oud for Greatness'. That BR540 vibe is less strong in here than in 'oud for glory' & greatness. It's less sweet than both... Actually not sweet at all & also more mature. But the 'Black Papyrus' DNA is 100% inspired by 'Oud for Greatness'. There is no doubt about it. Surprisingly high quality. I prefer the original and 'oud for glory' because they are sweeter. But If you can't afford the original or find the other clones, this is the next best option.
