H&M Les Cayes Vetyver

This is awesome for the price tag, smells like a cheap version of mix between diptyque's vetyverio EDP (has more depth and greenness) and EDT (more fresh and domenated by citruses). The vetiver here is not earthy nor smoky, it's rather more green and works very well on heat and humidity. It opens with a dose of grapefruit which has natural-smelling sweatness and some bitter/green notes, then moves smoothly -thanks to the transient jasmine note- to a green fresh vetiver that is really likeable and easy to wear especially in the summer and spring. I'd give it 7.5/10, it doesn't come off natural-smelling overall, and the performance is average.

This is perhaps the one of the 4 H&M scents I received recently that I am most conflicted about. I like vetiver enough and have a few scents where it plays the staring role. This starts out super vetiver-y, which is expected. But then, after the top notes fade, it seems to deteriorate into a nondescript chaotic mess, smelling more like hairspray than anything I can pinpoint. I don't dislike it, it's just I am left wanting more...of something. Longevity is really good, and it being an EDP is just icing on the cake. I am still able to smell it where I sprayed it on my hand several hours ago. for $30USD, this is a good/great deal depending on your affinity for vetiver/hairspray scents.

@GoldIris Black Papyrus smells a lot like Across Sands from Maison Martin Margiela, if you are familiar with the house. It's Oud-y and nice and quite unexpected at the price point it sells at. Vanilla Malagasy is a really nice vanilla, and smells quite natural, not synthetic like H&M's other Vanilla scent. It's a dusty vanilla, if that makes sense. Longevity on both is very good and sillage is above average. Vanilla Malagasy especially lasts upwards of 12+ hours.

It's not bad but it doesn't hold up to the quality of Santalum, Patchouli or even Rose. It has the same sillage as Rose though. Had there been a tester I probably wouldn't have bought it. There weren't testers for many of the H&M products, so I bought almost every other Olivier Pescheux fragrance because I smelled Santalum & went: Damn, this guy really knows what he's doing! and the name of the perfumers are on the boxes as well as the notes.

First test I got very little of anything, the anything being just soap. Take 2, rolled aggressively on skin: Opens w/ a lot of sweet-ish citrus, orange specifically. *Reads notes again* Or lemon and grapefruit, I guess. Impression is def. sweeter citrus though. No bitterness, minimal tang. Something a little bit candy bubblegum-fruity comes out too after a minute. 40 min later: That 90s fresh vibe, sigh. (Even though I don't get melon or cucumber specifically.) Doesn't hit me much like "soap" this time. But, showergel. Another 30 min later: Sweet and keeps getting sweeter. Could conceivably say I get some nutmeg and violet at different points, both caramelized. Still transparent and fresh. PERFORMANCE: incredibly muted almost from the start, and it's a soft soft skin scent in less than 2,5 hours. If you do love this, get the sprayer (on sale), at least easier to use on fabric & hair.
