H&M Vanilla - Creamy sweetness

I'm a little surprised this gem is so low rated. I have maybe 10 different scents with vanilla as the single or the main accord, and this one isn't to be ashamed in that collection. It's a very clean and light vanilla scent. Absolutely nothing dark in it, and a very unisexy scent. It smells like after a day at the pool, and you've just come out from the shower using a vanilla schampoo. Very fresh! It lasts about 3-4 hours on me. I bet this will work wonders layering with some others, but that is yet to test. For the price, it's an absolut bargain. Don't buy one. Buy a lot!

This is the best vanilla perfume i have- genuinely. Beautiful natural vanilla that is not too sweet and doesn’t smell like anything else. It has an alcoholic opening yes, but the dry down is beautiful and i’m so so sad that i can’t get this anymore. Lasts 8+ hours on my skin !!!! so incredible.

Vanilla extract that is not sweet. It’s powdery and lasts for a long time. I get compliments everytime I wear it. Projects like a beast.

I agree with the previous reviewer to a certain extent: it does start out quite synthetic and alcohol-pungent. But once it calms down, it's a nice take on a traditional vanilla scent. I accidentally mixed this with Choc and what do you know? They are delightful apart, and even more wonderful together! Longevity is alright, but I can see having to go to town with the sprayer to get it to last a good part of the day.

I was really surprised by this scent, actually it’s really well done. I came back one day later to get this tiny bootle on my own. I am gonna keep this one in my hand bag to refresh during the day. It’ll mix easily with some of my cold season perfumes. Perfect for dark and wet autumn days. P.S. Definitely not a long lasting one but it’s fully understandable for this price tag.

The first sniff is divine: straight-up vanilla ice cream, rich and creamy and custard-y, with a delicious, round vanilla note. On my skin, it melts away very quickly, and after a few minutes I don't smell vanilla, just a bit of play-doh sweetness. The opening is so yummy, though, and the bottle so cheap it's not a loss by any stretch.

This doesn't smell like a vanilla bean, but like a vanilla alcohol essence. Which is not a bad thing in my opinion, it still reminds me of vanilla and I like it. A nice, simple sweet scent. It lasted for hours, but sillage wasn't very strong. One could totally over-spray with it, because it was so cheap.

First time I wore this my husband asked me if I was baking muffins when he came home from work. It does not smell like regular vanilla, it is a more buttery smell, just like vanilla muffins.

Smell like a sweet sugar baby powder, is nice, really weak But is very cheap so you can apply all the time.

Very one dimensional, smells like vanilla extract, the one in your kitchen, and honey. It smells less harsh on the skin. I will be trying this out for layering! Great little addition, but nothing too special.

I don't know if I ended up with a bad bottle, but it's really awful. I was expecting vanilla and ended up with something that I can't even find any vanilla in. All hairspray smell in alcohol level (to the point of being worse than the most alcohol rich body spray that reeks of it) and in scent. It smells literally even under the alcohol (which I still smell an hour later, but not as intensely as at first) like old fashioned hairspray from the 80's. It's very soapy (if you like soapy you might like this, it's good as far as soapy scents go, and not too harsh or sharp) with a hint of powder and citrus (maybe lemon, but a very soft lemon that's not sharp). It's clean and fresh but not overly harsh for a soapy scent. But for a vanilla scent, it's harsh. There's a very soft, light floral note as well. I hate florals overall, but it's not bad in this one nor overly floral, more of a hint of a soft green note that's botanical but not harsh. I would not know there was vanilla in it on sniffing it. It's not there for me at all. If you wanted vanilla, skip it. I am amazed anyone smells it in there at all. It reminds me a little of DKNY Cashmere Mist (not a dupe, but it has something in it similar but this is softer) or one of the Philosophy "Graces" (the one with the slight green note, that was softer than the others, I can't remember if it was Pure Grace or Baby Grace). It would fit right in with them as a softer one. That would have been my guess for what it was if blind sniffing a Philosophy "clean" scent. If someone wanted a clean, slightly soapy, fresh soft powdery (and I do love soft powdery scents, but not the other notes in this) skin scent with a hint of citrus (just a hint, I hate citrus and it's not overwhelming on drydown) and really soft botanicals (it gets a bit "green" smelling in the green notes as it drys down more and is fairly green smelling). If it were just the powder notes without the green notes in the drydown, even with no vanilla, I might like it. It's just not for me at all, but if you like that sort of scent and can get past the overwhelming alcohol at first, it's not bad. I even double checked that my bottle box and bottle said vanilla and the color matched, because this is not at all a vanilla scent, at least in my bottle.

I'm sorry for what I'm about to say, but I am very passionate about vanilla. This is not a good vanilla. This is a sad, nauseating excuse of a vanilla. I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but it's just my two scents. (Pun intended). (PS. Bottle is cute though.)

Simple synthetic cheap vanilla. I love a good formulated vanilla and most of my perfume collection is vanillas, but this is NOT a good vanilla. Reminds me of vanilla Wunderbaum. It makes me very nauseous

Yea this is very over-synthetic vanilla. It's not heavy or overbearing...but it's just so alcoholly. I find The Body Shop's Vanilla Eau de Toilette to be much more appealing, less alcoholly & slightly better in performance. Also fresher.

Tested in store, on skin. Vanilla essence and icing sugar. Actually a rather pretty, simple vanilla.... and I don't generally like Vanilla perfumes! Hard to smell at first and then warms up and you get constant whiffs of sweetness every time you move. Tempted to try h&m pear over this when I get home - that's the only h&m perfume that stayed in my collection as t-shirt and Sunray gave me headaches (rain was a bit like CK2, which I have!) But pear is fabulous! Update - Away from store this smells a bit antiseptic to me (skin and clothes). If you are at a distance it’s just kind of sweet and sugary, but close up there is something almost clove-like mixed in with it. Almost like there’s a cheap spiced rum in it - the homemade, take the enamel off your teeth sort of liquor! Reminds me of the way the Narcisso Rodriguez Musc perfumes smell to me (like a swimming pool, lol!) so maybe it’s some sort of synthetic musk?!

First of all: The whole H&M fragrance thing is amazing . Huge range - something for anybody. Prices are amazing, the bootles are cute and original , and the fragrances are to die for. Im really so pleased. Lasting power, projection - A+ all over the line. Highly impressed and immediately bought 7 different. This smells very vanilla (obviously!) but like a true vanilla , as the Spice , not the sugary Victoria’s Secret or Body Shop Christmas candy sugar sweet vanilla . Great simple scent - also very nice to blend or amp up other fragrances with .

I bought this on a whim. It was only $7.99 CAD, so why not? Pleasantly surprised with this one. It smells like pure bakers vanilla at first spray. Once it dries down a bit you get that powederyness which I'm not a fan of, it reminds me of a makeup palette. But after a few hours it completely mellows out into a sweet, almost marshmallowey vanilla. I love it!

This is not a straight up vanilla, it’s a baked cookie kind of vanilla. Even though it’s synthetic, it’s a very comforting scent to me. Very simple fragrance, but not flat. Smells much more expensive than it is. If you like the freshly out of the oven, baked vanilla cookies, I think you’ll like this.

i used to dislike this type of vanilla but lately i find it pleasant. this is the type of vanilla present in mon guerlain. the longevity is not strong but the sillage even smaller. it is an intimate seductive scent
