Absolutely distraught that this was discontinued, hollister why???? Same thing with the Jake and so cal mens cologne. You’re having a huge early 2000s clothing revival moment right now and you discontinue the core fragrances that encapsulated the whole style of your brand?? so stupid. Anyway I love this scent and I’ve been wearing it on and off since I was 9 years old, I’m 22 now. The old bottles sucked, I’ve probably had about 4 bottles of it in my lifetime I had one with a brown atomizer puff and a few with a navy puff and both of those always had way too much air in them and didn’t properly spray the fragrance, then they switched to the weird shaped plain clear bottle which is the only bottle I have left now. I truly do not have any scent in my collection that smells like this at all. It’s so crisp and airy and clean, it’s a perfect almost masculine hint of sunscreen floral that smells so cool. I always pictured some type of beach flower and the coast when I wore this. It’s so sublimely summery to me but isn’t out of place in any season. One of the few scents I’ve repurchased in my life. I am so upset it’s gone. I’m going to check Marshalls and tj max as soon as I can for a backup bottle or 3.

Basil , Lavender and Vanilla yet smells like a summers day spent in sunshine and happiness...like being young, driving with the top down, laughter, shopping, friends - a soft, fun, playful fragrance for any age... no other way to explain it's sweet, clean, fresh scent profile in my head. This perfume was my first LOVE of perfume. It was the first perfume i purchased myself a perfume that wasn't a body mist from bath and body works and I repeat purchased this scent every time it looked low. The first scent I found that I adored and could not get enough of. I search high and low for the OG because the new formula is not the same. My children recall the original scent as their mother's smell and that makes me smile. I have the same memory recall for my mother with a peony honeysuckle fragrance she wore. This one was in a league of it's own and although popular and known it was my favorite and still is. I have anxiety that 1 day I'll never find the OG and it will be goodbye forever because the new formulation is not the same, its a weaker version of its former self. 😭

Ah, the memories. This was my signature scent for over two years and the perfume I keep coming back to when I don't know what to wear. Probably my ALL-TIME favorite scent to be honest. When I think of Malaia, I think: sparkling, fresh, fruity, young, clean...and it just works so well with my body chemistry! :) At first spritz, it starts off as a beachy, sparkling floral. The heart smells like fresh melons with watery florals mixed in. The base is still fresh and fruity but takes on a subtle woodsy note. The fragrance is just extremely well rounded and blended. :) I can wear Malaia at school, on a date, or of course at the beach which is what it reminds me of. It's the perfect scent to transition from winter to spring or even spring to summer. This was my first signature scent and I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend it! It's quite popular amongst my friends who have smelled it and I've gotten compliments on how I "always smell good". Well done, Hollister. Who knew a clothing store could be so talented with perfume? ♥

I can't believe that this perfume has been out for a few years now and I've only just discovered it recently! Normally I dislike the Hollister fragrances for women because they have a tendency to smell too masculine on me. But like suppie, I think Malaia is the only one that I actually like; it smells very feminine on me and I fell in love with it immediately. It's true that it smells a bit like the inside of a Hollister store, but it's much, much softer and subtle. It's a hard scent to describe because I can't really distinguish any individual notes.. On my skin, it smells sweet, but not too sweet because of the woody undertones. It reminds me a lot of my shampoo, which is never a bad thing to smell like :) The only criticism I have is that it only lasts for a few hours on my skin. All in all, I recommend it if you're looking for a sweet, clean scent that isn't too overpoweringly sweet or citrusy.

It is NOT discontinued! It can be purchased on the website or in store! :) Malaia is hard to describe. It's fresh, it's light, there's an "earthy" feel to it...makes me picture a chilly morning sitting on a beach in California, wrapped up in a cozy cardigan. The salty air blowing on my skin, through my hair, the sand between my toes. It's slightly sweet, but not in a Fantasy or Pink Sugar way. Malaia has a cool, beachy vibe. She's that girl every guy loves, she's laid back, sexy, slightly mysterious. I've used this since high school, and although I don't always have a bottle, it's a fragrance I go back to time and time again. It doesn't last long at all, but that just gives me an excuse to keep spraying it! To make it last longer, I spray my hair and my clothes, as well as my skin. From Hollister's website - basil, lavender, vanilla bean, crisp water, sheer florals, soft woody tones.

i remember this being a mostly sweet lavender scent. it wasn’t green or herby to me at all, it felt cozy and clean smelling. very fresh and pretty. i wish i could find this in store... hollister needs to sell it again. not paying outrageous prices for it, it was $40 in store at one point and the longevity isn’t great. def not worth the price that people are selling it for on certain websites. i feel like this did smell similar to the inside of the store except malaia was sweeter. the atomizer sucked, it squirted out in an odd way that made you waste some of the juice. i was obsessed with malaia though, it was sort of a mood booster :) if it was still sold, i would use it daily! probably one of my favorite scents, even if the longevity was bad.

Found this gem in marshalls for 14 bucks so I took a chance on it and im glad I did. It's a unique smell, I can't necessarily say I'm picking up on the scent notes listed tbh. it's an earthy, herbal, beachy scent and I am going to be wearing this to death during the spring / summer. I find this to be very similar to Arianas God is a woman but Malaia blows that one out of the water at a significantly better price point if I can find it at a discount store like marshalls or tjmaxx. Longevity for me is about 5ish hours.

This is one of my favorite perfumes. I ran out and need to purchase another. I didn't realize they discontinued it. Hopefully there may be a bottle left somewhere. It does smell beachy and breezy but also not too much. It's quite different and original and have received compliments by men, women and children saying I smell so nice and fresh. It's an original and not like many others. I don't think it smells like Cliniques Happy To Be but I guess they could be in the same category of notes.

This is a sentimental fragrance for me. It had to come out way before 2014? I remember my sister and I using this in middle school back in like 08 and 09. It’s deliciously sweet and fresh - I don’t pick up on the listed notes. The projection is weak and it doesn’t last long, but I’ll always have it in my collection

couldn’t even tell u how many bottles of this i went through between 2017-2019.. she was my baby 💭🎀 takes me back to sitting in the sand in the evening on the beach in fl w/ my bf, running around finding seashells and bringing back our finds to each-other 🌅 this will always have a special place in my heart !!

I was never cool or skinny, but teenage hyper-fixation drove me enough to brave the sensory storm of Hollister's sales floor - just to scoop up this fresh, invigorating, and joyful fragrance.

Nostalgic scent for me. I used to have a girlfriend as a teenager that had this. It was one that I often choose for her when she asked me to. 😅. I quite love it! This and Paris Hilton 😂

LOVE IT!!! So intriguing but delicate. When I wear it people always ask about this smell. Men and women are equally attracted to it :-). One of the definite winners in my collection.

This was one of my signature scents as an 18/19 year old young adult. I loved it. Bought a bottle just for nostalgia, will probably wear it to the office or to bed.

My mom is picky with fragrances and she loves this one, so it’s a people pleaser scent. It was actually my signature scent first & now it’s hers too lol. But I must mention, this is the first real glass-bottle perfume I’ve ever gotten. And I’ve since tried perfumes from Sephora & the longevity & complexity of those scents makes this one look so bad. If only they could reformulate this to be long-lasting & actually seem like a eau de parfum as its name says rather than like a eau de toilette that I need to spray many times to actually have sillage than I would second-guess my choice to find a new signature scent... Oh also unfortunately, the atomizer on it stopped working (started shooting out just air) after awhile on not 1 but 2 bottles that I’ve gotten so far.

I like this fragrance. On me it comes off as musk, some vanilla, light woody notes and a bit of fruit, basic but nice and beachy. The bottle, too is cute, like an old-fashioned flask. However, this perfume does not last long at all (at the most about 3 hours on me), and because of that I will not buy it because it is very expensive for what it is. A bit of context might be useful here. In the UK Hollister is very expensive, even moreso than the US. In fact, the prices in the UK are a direct dollar to pound swap, resulting in very high prices as a pound is worth more than a dollar . This quite weak perfume costs £40 in the UK!

Layered this with Kenzo Amour Le Parfum and it smelled so good. I was at the store trying the Kenzo perfume- spraying it in my hair and later visited the Hollister shop where I "added" Malaia. I usually never do this, because I think that every fragrance needs its space... but I did it almost instinctively and for me both perfumes mingled so wonderfully But of course I also would wear Malaia on its own, smells so special to me...coaxing exotic flowers, and it definitely carries the feeling of beach and sea that I love

This smells to me just like the stuff they pipe in on the “Soaring Over California “ ride at California Adventure for the part where you’re flying over the beach. It’s too Beachy for me. I enjoy the scent, but I don’t know that I want to smell like that myself. EDIT: I layered it today with my trusty Sage Machado Pearl and now I adore it! Just needed a touch of creamyness for me to calm it down a touch and take a bit of the edge off.

A fresh, light floral, with a pinch of fruit, maybe melon. The woods are pretty subtle, and probably just keep the mixture from being too sweet. However, it doesn't remind me of the beach. A good everyday fragrance, though it doesn't have much lasting power on me, maybe 2 hours.

Used up a whole bottle of this back in the day when I worked for a HCo. Loved this fragrance. Smelled very pretty, fresh, floral. Non-offensive easy everyday type of fragrance. Surprisingly, the atomizer was also really good, and refillable once you use it up.

I remember this. I used to pass Hollister in my old mall from where I grew up because it was next to Hot Topic LOL. This smell was OK, I don't know what the formula is now but when I was growing up every SINGLE girl had this on except me.

It’s a nice sweet scent, without being too sickly. Suitable for any season. Only downside is it doesn’t last longer than 3hrs. Also, I feel like it smells like sun cream but my boyfriend loves it so I'll keep it.

Just love it! I wouldn't dare comparing it to any proper perfumes, but definitely a tremendously pleasant fragrance. Smells of summer, warm breeze, youth, fun and.. America!

Basil, lavender, and vanilla is not a combination I’d pick for a teen-aimed fragrance—it seems older and more sophisticated, while still being boho in style. I think if this was marketed differently / not put out by Hollister, most girls would say they didn’t like the smell. It’s certainly not a bad fragrance (kind of middle-of-the-road IMO), but is thick and warm and musky—not really the vibe of a sunny California beach, but definitely the vibe of dark and trendy Hollister stores.

Not offensive on the skin, just incredibly boring and light. I’ll be returning this one. Nothing about this makes me excited to reach for it. Nothing like lucky you.

This scent is so unforgettable. I remember it was ok and clean.

It smells like sun tan lotion which has gone bad:( It is very fresh, a little bit plasticky and sour maybe? I cannot detect any fruit in it. It reminds me of the beach though. Just not for me

I don't have any nostalgic associations with Hollister scents: I avoided Hollister like the plague in high school because I wasn't cool and skinny enough. Now I'm trying to be more open-minded (and heal my inner teenager a bit) and have been trying more outside of my comfort zone. My box says the notes for Malaia are sandalwood and roses(???) but this is an aromatic freshie. Although I don't like aromatics at all, this is very light, beachy, and playful. At first I planned to return it, but it's growing on me and I could see it being a fairly easy dumb reach in the summer. Tbh, I'm at a loss as to the notes. It just smells like warm weather to me.

A friend bought this for me back in summer '08, which was my last summer before "turning into an adult" (My 18th birthday was the following september) I ran out and never bought more, eventually forgetting about it completely. A few weeks ago I just happened to be in Hollister and decided to buy another bottle. Upon the first spray, it REALLY brought back memories and made me feel super nostalgic. For that reason, it's my new favorite :) The perfume itself smells lovely. Strong enough to be noticed, but not overpowering. The PERFECT blend of sweet and sexy. Lasts long, and I swear it smells better as the day goes on!

This is the first perfume I ever purchased in middle school-maybe 2006/2007? and I was so obsessed with it. I was making a purchase from Hollister online and of curiosity looked to see if it was still available. I was so I immediately ordered it. It’s just as heavenly as I remembered. I have 60+ fragrances and this stands as one of my top 10. For the price it lasts surprisingly long. It’s very fresh flirty and feminine. The only drawback is the atomizer isn’t great. Instead of a mist it’s more of a powerful shot of fragrance spray. I miss the old bulb design.

This must’ve been reformulated / re-released. Because the description states it was released in 2014. However I purchased this in high school, 10th grade, 2008, so it’s gotta be older than that. The new version I bought last year doesn’t have as much longevity and isn’t as nice as I remember it from 2008. The scent goes away so fast. I remember my bottle from high school being amazing and the scent lasting forever.

I agree, the juice is great but the fricken bottle & atomizer sucks/leaks really bad. The juice itself is actually very good, I’m still amazed at how good it is. Prada Candy Kiss smells very similar but doesn’t have near the silage or longevity as Malaia. This is a fresh spring scent that’s quite the little power house & money well spent of this is the type of fragrance that suits you.

i LOVE LOVE LOVE this perfume !! but as others have said, unfortunately it doesnt last long. i was given a used small bottle of this from a friend who didnt care for it as much as i did, needless to say i finished it rather quickly. to my disappointment, i found that it was discontinued D: WHY did they have to do that ?!

This was my signature scent in highschool, I miss it SO MUCH. I vividly remember trying to bring the bottle to school in my PE bag and the perfume leaking all over my gym clothes through the atomizer puff ball. Good times. Miss her. I think one sniff of this fragrance could wake me from a coma

My niece's absolute fave. She's 25 n excellent taste. She says it's long lasting too h has bot since 2005 so it's not 2014. I normally do not like lavender but this is dreamy! Also it's vaguely familiar but can figure since its out of my regular style. It is gorgeous tho!!

@chelseet- yes, it definitely was, I still have a bottle from 2010 but it was a spray nozzle without the bulb. I think after 2014 they only sold the one with the bulb & it definitely didn’t have the longevity & also smelled slightly different from the original.

I think this was one of the first perfumes I ever owned, way back in the day...I wanna say, maybe 2006? Early 2007? It smells very light, fresh, and clean, like crisp ocean air. Absolute perfect Summer scent.

wow this is nice, much nicer than that nasty Ryder I had. This is a wonderful summer scent, smells like salty sea air in a lovely way. Love this. Projection is not great but stays on the skin pretty long

I wore this til the last drop literally, I loved the fresh and sexy smell of it. I think I may get this once I get to the last drop of my Issey....maybe just maybe. I had it back in 07.

I do like it but it doesn't last very long. Very musky and woody. I was pretty upset when I didn't see it in the stores anymore.

Reminded me of Miss Dior Cherie L'eau. A light floral fragrance with a hint of citrus and woods.

It sooo reminds me of Clinique a happy to be. Maybe a bit more woody. Good memories :-)
