This is Not GABA

I’m honestly shocked there are so few reviews for Gaba on the U.S. version of Fragrantica. This fragrance is everywhere in conversations abroad and feels like one of the most talked-about perfumes in many countries in 2025. Funny enough, the same thing happened with Ganymede-well known here in the American perfume community, but nowhere near as iconic as it is in parts of Europe. It’s fascinating how fragrance trends shift by region. As for Gaba itself: yes, it was clearly inspired by Ganymede, but Hormone Paris really elevated it. To my nose, they took the best elements and made them feel more modern, more wearable, more approachable, maybe a touch more feminine, but still 100% unisex. The leather is gone, replaced with brighter and softer nuances. I get some sweet citrus up top, plus a peach/apricot vibe (likely the osmanthus), which gives it a juicy lift along with that metallic, slightly iodine-like twist. That facet might not appeal to everyone, but I personally find it fascinating and addictive. The drydown has this clean but textured blend of musk, akigalawood, and ambroxan. It’s not a dupe, but it shares the DNA, and honestly, I prefer Gaba. To me, it’s the perfect happy summer-day scent: cooling, radiant, modern, and compliment-getting, but I can totally see it being a little too strong for some. Test it first if you can, but if you like Ganymede, Bois Impérial, or Akigala Mandarino, chances are you’ll enjoy Gaba too.

I love this perfume a lot. I wish it was more affordable. Am sure it will be when the DNA becomes common (cant wait).

I just love this dna. Personally i like this more than the og. The performance is nuclear honestly. It's a beast.

Starts off leaning female very life life juicy peach but after 20mins It carms down to leave a very beast mode delicious spicy and sweet scent 3rd favourite from this house

Similar to Ganymede but less mineral & sweeter. I really like it.

How is this so similar to Ganymede but I can not stomach Ganymede and love Gaba? How is it possible? Let's just get out of the way the resemblance to Ganymede, yes absolutely, it has the same DNA. To me the main difference that I notice is that Gaba seems warmer and not repulsive; there is no pungent note in it, while Ganymede feels very cold to me and has something that just makes me nauseous and somehow brings bad emotions. And I can not understand why I like Gaba but can not stand Ganymede when they are pretty much so similar. The longevity and sillage is amazing. I perfumed my wool coat with Gaba, and my whole closet now smells amazing. It stays on clothing for so long and has beautiful sillage.

What's this about 'Ganymede'!? mentioned here!, which is a Greek mythological person, nothing to do with this perfume!! GABA stands for 'Gamma aminobutyric acid ' which is an amino acid that helps when GABA receptors (stimulated in the brain) helps produce calmness by reducing stress and anxiety! Which this perfume may aim to help with it's aromatherapeutic properties and notes! So I hope to try this out soon when I can get hold of a small bottle of this 😅

Got this one in the summer and was disappointed, but NOW it sounds amazing. I guess this oily note of lavender makes cold season be more enjoyable! So yes to GABA for fall and winter

Akigalawood , very similar to Akigala Mandarino, but with definitely medicine notes. Clean and slightly sweet.

I think it should've been made boozy. Because alcohol binds to GABA receptors!
