Oud Or

Top 5 All Time. 10 out of 10. It does have a glue smell but it’s from that natural oud. Fruit punch oud, so good. Not too much saffron. Wow. Top 5. This is not animalic barnyard stinky oud. It smells like a natural high quality Chinese oud. I have many oud oils to refer to.

While it smells nothing like true oud oils, Oud Or has an incredible floral/fruity/resinous opening very much in line with Armani Privé's Oud Royal. This lasts for one glorious hour before it devolves into ambroxan, rose, musks and incense.

Kinda has a weird chemical smell, doesn’t really smell like perfume, more like some sort of glue or industrial lubricant. It’s not bad, actually its pleasant, but not something I want to smell like.

Oud and raspberry! A new discovery for me. This is the best of the 2023 Orient range. Very delicious!

Familiar theme with a very uninspiring execution. Sweetened rose-oud with very prominent woody ambers. Atomic longevity and sillage. Meh.

If Dior Sauvage had an oud version, it would have been this one.

Imagine that a perfume is produced, but not to smell. You give all the money, but it doesn't smell perfume. I've never seen such a weak smell. Pity your money! 👎👎👎

This fragrance offers a harmonious blend of fresh, floral, fruity, resinous, woody, and sweet notes. It combines vibrant top notes, a complex heart, and an opulent base to create a multifaceted and alluring scent experience. The fragrance begins with a fresh and sparkling start, where the notes of rose, raspberry, and orange blossom blend together. This combination gives a floral and fruity opening that is vibrant and lively. As the fragrance develops, the heart notes come forward. The nuanced notes of labdanum, saffron, patchouli, and geranium create a rich and full-bodied character. Labdanum adds a warm and resinous quality, while saffron brings an exotic and spicy aroma. Patchouli contributes an earthy and woody element, and geranium offers a floral and herbal touch. The interplay of these notes results in a complex and captivating heart, where the fragrance becomes deeper and more intriguing. In the base, the fragrance takes on an opulent and elegant character. The mingling of guaiac wood, oud, and cedar wood adds a woody and smoky quality to the scent. These notes provide a sense of depth and sophistication. The presence of vanilla brings a creamy and sweet aspect, enhancing the richness and depth of the fragrance.

I would only single out two perfumes that are similar but not the same, but they belong to that unique version of the sweet oudh. First place is Oud Hypnotic by Mes Bisous. Which is very very specific, unusual, at the same time quite innovative, a bit irritating, a bit synthetic but again I repeat unique. The same thing happens here with Oud Or. It has an interesting opening, specifically pure sweet, not too sweet. Then what I should emphasize here is the dry down. I try to experience this perfume as if the opening of the perfume was created by Luca Maffei and the dry down by Antoine Lie. Everything about this perfume is somehow special and different, although maybe stereotypical at first, but it is not. Very unique something and interesting. Worth sampling and multiple testing before buy.

This oud-rose combination is unlikely to surprise you for its originality. However, it's a very good and elegant fragrance that combines the deep spicy oud of Diptyque's Oud Palao (minus the dirty bits) with the clean, shiny profile of Mancera's and Montale's oud fragrances. I would definitely consider purchasing it, if I didn't have Palao and a myriad of Mancera/Montale samples to last me an eternity. I would probably end up wearing it more often than Palao, as Oud Or is much more versatile and easy to wear.

As it currently stands, this is my favourite Oud-focused scent on the market. It does everything I want my oud fragrance to do. That classic oud-rose-saffron blend is expertly blended beyond anything else I could find. Supporting juicy and ambery notes giving this more depth. It's not vanillic, nor particularly sweet or gourmandish. It's a very woody and spicy Floriental; but think glossy oud rather than matte. Can't wait to rock this in winter.
