Quelques Fleurs l'Original

Upon first applying a sample of this, I was surprised at how beautiful a floral this is. I expected it to be a bit too vintage smelling for me, but I agree with the previous poster that it is like a damp flower garden. I smell this within about 8" of my skin too from initially applying. I know there are a lot of different notes in here, so it's hard to pick out specifics, but it does smell fresh, dewy, spring floral. Herbaceous slightly. This is just a lot more lovely than I expected. And again, it doesn't just scream 'vintage,' perhaps only slightly dated at best. But it could almost be a creation made today. This is just the smell of walking through a lush green garden after it rained. It's also mature, refined, elegant, feminine, slightly subdued. 30 minutes later and there is a slight spice and warmth to this, but it's still fresh. I can smell it strongly within about 3" of my skin still, and more lightly outside of that. Houbigant's site mentions clove in the middle notes, and I feel like I get that, plus some sandalwood, but still amongst dewy flowers. 40 minutes later and there's even the slightest touch of sweetness coming out, that's a bit addicting to smell. It might be the honey. This also just has a sort of serene and peaceful happiness to it. I'll see how long this lasts. I honestly like this way more than expected. I don't typically wear fragrances like this, and I'm not sure the occasion I'd wear this for, since to me it feels more for a dressed up classier occasion perhaps, but I would like to this smell this again. 2 hours later and it's still going strong. The scent hasn't changed much, but it honestly has been still projecting so much, it's been a bit overwhelming/nearly cloying for me just sitting around today. If you were walking around and doing stuff though, it would be perfect, or applying less. I still enjoy the scent though, it's just a lot. 4 hours later and it's mostly a skin scent, but definitely there on the skin, as well as some light delicate sillage. It's gotten pretty 'warm' as well, but yet again, still mostly the same floral. Just warmed up a bit. 9 hours later it's a soft skin scent that's white floral and slightly powdery. I might be picking up on some oakmoss as well. This does smell a little more vintage, but I don't mind, it's still pretty. I'm very surprised I smell it at the level I do after this long as well. 14 hours later and it's basically gone.

Such a beautiful perfume! I’m in love 🥰 This is the scent of the stairs and gates that guard heaven. Maybe that’s a little dramatic but it’s so pretty. It’s a beautiful, clean and fresh floral bouquet composition thats inoffensive and doesn’t smell like a grandma. It smells realistic like walking through a huge garden in a mansion! I had found a sample and heard Princess Diana spilled this all over her wedding dress and Kurt Cobain really liked this perfume, so I had to check it out. My first impression was that I was underwhelmed. It smelled floral but just that. Floral. I actually spilled about a quarter of it on me because the vial was so hard to open, so I ended up wearing it throughout the day and it grew on me significantly! I kept smelling it throughout the day and it smelled so good!! It was almost calming and reassuring. This was composed in 1912, the same year the infamous Titanic sank. That same year, L’heure Bleure by Guerlain was made and I have to say that one aged like milk and this one didn’t age at all! Smells fresh, bouncy and clean for being such a vintage perfume! Houbigant, this perfume house has been here since the 1700s, and Marie Antoinette carried 3 vials of perfume from this house on her way to the guillotine, Napoleon also shopped around in this house! Some people have been said to refuse any other perfume and have strictly stuck to the ones made by Houbigant for decades! It’s all so fascinating! This was also the first of its kind to be a floral perfume with a ton of flowers rather than just focusing a few main flower notes. Also 15,000 flowers go into just 1 oz of this perfume! That’s 45,000 flowers for 1 full size bottle! Longevity and Sillage are massive!! Super long lasting and magnificent sillage despite me only using a quarter of a sample! This perfume is worth every penny! Great for spring and summer, it’s good in hot weather and would be great to wear to a wedding! Scent: 9/10 Longevity: 10/10 Sillage: 10/10 Price: 8/10 (Not too bad considering the quality) School and Work Friendly! Vintage classic in the best possible way. There's a reason this perfume has been selling since 1913, it's beautiful, feminine, classy, and versatile. I could see this scent as someone's signature. I'm a huge fan of orange blossom, I figured, I'd never find an orange blossom scent rivaling my beloved Fragonard EDT & Intense.. but this hits the spot. Fragonard is more sharp, less sweet, more realistic an worth owning both if you love orange blossom. I initially purchased it because it has orris root, violet and honey, I initially expected this to smell like Ysatis Givenchy, but no. I was initially apprehensive because of the tuber rose. Tuber rose is a tricky note, I loved honor woman, but it churned my stomach. I love CD Poison with the tuber rose accord and this because it has just enough to say "I'm here" but it's not dominant, she's the shy girl in the corner who serves her role adding her signature sweetness without being cloying or stomach churning. The sweetness from the ylang ylang isn't too banana like. She's well rounded, a diverse mixture of white, purple, pink and yellow flowers. The combination keeps the powdery accord soft and pleasant, the honey and yellow flowers are balanced by the citrus and tonka. I could see someone young and innocent wearing this to a sweet comforting matriarch gracing the world with her presence. I do understand why some say it's soapy, for me that's very slight in the clean realm. Not laundry soap. I cannot imagine anyone could possibly be offended by this scent. If I could find the lotion on a discount site, I'd snatch it up in a heart beat. She lasts for days on clothes (literally) and I only have the new formulation, I can only imagine the original must have been more animalistic with more depth from the civet. On skin, I'm sure I went nose blind to it after 3 hours. This is one of those under rated rare gems that must be a well kept secret as it's been sold for 111 years and I stumbled on this by accident. The bottle is beautiful, thick frosted glass the way Halston Sheer used to look. If you're on the fence thinking this scent is for a more mature crowd, release the bias, give her a shot.

(6 sprays total, one on each back-of-hand and two on each wrist, gently pressed together.) It's nice and very 'classic' and 'feminine' and I can see why famous people like Princess Diana and Dita Von Teese wore it but to me it's just another basic LoTV perfume. If you have Diorissimo or something similar, you really don't need this one. If you don't have any LoTV perfumes in your collection though, you may enjoy having this be your only one. Imagine an engagement ring, and LoTV is the center stone. Oakmoss and Lilac are the two smaller diamonds on either side, making the LoTV look and feel even prettier and more luxurious. Surrounding the three stones are smaller diamonds, representing the jasmine, rose, and other notes. The very first green note listed in the "your votes" column... either I'm anosmic to it, or it's just blended so well that I just detect it as a realistic LoTV note. Projection and longevity are okay approx 1- 1.5 feet/ 3-4 hours. Spring/summer daytime. It's a very timeless perfume too. No sharp edges like some other LoTV offerings out there. There is no way someone in 2018 could smell this and say "Ah! A perfume from the 1910's or 1950's or 1980's! It feels like an upscale niche house could have invented and blended this formula just yesterday or 200 years ago. If you only want one LoTV perfume or one white-floral, this should definitely be a contender. ___ Also, I am not a fan of the fictional character reviews. If you want to exercise your writing skills on here, fine, but please, no more than one review per perfume, and it must be a perfume you have actually smelled and are reviewing accurately. No one wants to read about your Southern Sorority Sister roleplaying fantasy if you didn't even smell the perfume and are just making things up and stealing info from other reviews. People spend a lot of money and invest a lot of emotion into blind-buying perfumes and they depend on honest, accurate reviews from Fragrantica, so it's not fair to them when you make things up. Either that or write whatever made-up story you want, but put a disclaimer at the end so that we know not to take your pretend-review seriously.

There is a vintage formulation of Quelques Fleurs that reportedly smells different to the current version, it was allegedly discontinued in the 1970s. I'm reviewing the modern formulation that was released in the 1980s. It's a massive and utterly seamless 80s floral bouquet. Jasmine and lily of the valley dominate but there are a ton of other floral notes as well. Orange blossom, carnation, tuberose, rose, violet, ylang-ylang... the florals meld together via the honey note, the animalics give them a touch of warmth, and the result is an ethereal, vaporous cloud of flower nectar. Soft, luminous, and quintessentially feminine. QF is unique in the sense that it has aged into the new millennia far better than most of its contemporaries. It certainly doesn't smell like a modern release, but it doesn't exactly smell 'old fashioned' either. It has retained a degree of timelessness because it skews fresher, greener, and more natural smelling than the other big florals of the time. If you wore it out, people wouldn't necessarily think "Yuck, someone's wearing a granny perfume", more likely they'd think "Hmm, something smells like flowers". The florals of the 1980s are particularly difficult for me (a younger nose) to stomach due to an unpleasant note that most of them have in the base (I'm looking at you Chanel No. 5 EDP). Fortunately the dreaded oily champagne note that dominated that decade is barely detectable in this perfume. The comparisons to Lauder's Beautiful are on the money, but that perfume is much heavier on the carnation, and it is sweeter with a stronger tuberose as well as a mimosa note. This perfume is easier to wear, and while it's a lovely perfume, the opening of Lauder Beautiful is a bit much for me. I haven't found a Sophia Grojsman perfume I love yet, and her florals are particularly intimidating. All in all I'd say: If you're on the market for a classic and classy French floral and you don't like the other florals that are still in production (R.I.P. Patou!), be sure to give this one a try.

I have returned to write another review. This time, the original formulation of Quelques Fleurs splash EDT, allegedly (?) discontinued at some point in the early 1970s. I found my 30 ml bottle on Mercari, it is a plain rectangular tower with a white circular bakelite screw-on cap. The adhesive has the name and the brand adorned with a colorful floral pattern. A completely different perfume to the "L'Original" version, launched in the latter half of the 80s, still sold in department stores today. Trace breezy aldehydes, neroli, some "white rose", alongside jasmine and hyacinth, these floral notes come together as a crisp, green muguet reconstruction. As it dries, it smells a bit fruity and sour. I realized it is none other than peach lactone, one of the great chameleons of classic perfumery. The base comprises the (now banned) "chalky" nitro musks, orris, sandalwood, and oakmoss. There's a touch of civet but it's barely noticeable. This floral is overwhelmingly the clean, prim, soapy, lady-like variety. Refreshing and pretty, but the floral bouquet itself is rather short-lived, it progresses to the "milled soap" base within 20 minutes of wear time, where it lingers for 5 hours or so. The combination of aldehydes, nitro musks, peach lactone, orris, and soap bring to mind the other budget floral EDTs I've tested from the 50s and 60s. Truthfully I prefer Eau de Joy, No. 5 EDT, White Shoulders, and Y to vintage Quelques Fleurs EDT. They're all a bit more distinctive and fun to wear. By comparison, the reformulated & rereleased EDP has more floral notes, more civet, with honey, amber, and a big, stonking 80s oily sandalwood note. They smell nothing alike. I haven't tested the original extrait formulation from 1912. If I encounter existent juice that doesn't appear to be rotten, I may yet give it a try.

My great-grandmother had a bottle of Quelques Fleurs in her medicine cabinet when I was a child. It was the oval-shaped bottle with a milky blue screw-on top. It was already old back then, but still smelled nice enough that it stuck in my memory. When I learned that it's still being made, I had to find out what people think of this classic scent. Comparisons to "Beautiful" are apt, but I find it a bit softer and more well-blended after a few minutes. My first impression upon spraying wasn't great. That's not a deterrent, though. Perfumes' charm comes from being warmed and blending with our own chemistry. Carnation and oakmoss are difficult notes on my skin. What convinced me to give this a chance anyway were the many reviews by other people who insist it deserves its reputation as a complex, well-composed classic. That and nostaligia. After about and hour, honey and lily-of-the-valley stand out the most. The green notes that hit my nose first settled between the cracks. Hints of ylang ylang, orchid, and the citruses stand out over the other florals and sandalwood. I know they're there, but it's so well-blended, I have a hard time identifying individual components. The base notes are giving the whole scent a smooth, sweet, slightly woody and warm background that I'm really starting to love after an hour and a half. I think my impression of this scent is going to be upgraded from "like" to "love." I'm pleased that the sharp and soapy notes I was expecting to stay prominent have smoothed themselves out. After about two hours, the oakmoss and sandalwood are coming through more. Following the dry-down is fascinating. The overall scent is, too. I'm very glad I took a chance on this classic.

Stunningly beautiful. I own several dab on bottles of the pure parfum that look like frosted mushrooms. This is a floral masterpiece, the absolute best floral fragrance of all time. She is the Roman goddess of flowers Flora. Opens with citrus notes but they are bright, with no aldehydes - the perfume predates aldehydes which were introduced in 1921 and this perfume was released in 1913. The essential oils are what comes through so it's like flower juice or flower oils and very much like a shampoo or hair tonic or body lotion/conditioner. The multi colored flowers are orange/yellow orange blossom, pink rose, purple heliotrope, white jasmine and tuberose, blue iris, purple lilac, and red carnation. These flowers cannot be sensed individually and they are instead tossed together as if in a blender. No one flower dominates the other. Throughout the performance of the perfume, herbal green notes abound and bind the flowers together as if in a long green stem. Base notes appear to be oak moss, so a lot more green stuff. Very mossy. Slightly woodsy with some wood note, amber, and musk. There is also a dry down of some vanilla. I believe this was only the second time vanilla was used in fragrances; first time being in the composition to Guerlain Jicky. The sweet floral scent is intoxicating. It is heady and rich, causing a nasal orgasm just by smelling it. This perfume will win you over if you are just starting out with floral fragrances. This is clearly meant as a spring season scent and it's got no age or gender. You just have to be into flowers. Great for wearing after a shower or bath and going out smelling of herbal flower power. I absolutely love it.

This smells of the finest hotel soaps, and fresh spring air! It feels like the 30s to me, and is fabulously vintage, but not stuffy. There's something really gorgeous about it, the melange of florals is really quite ladylike and truly beautiful. I love newschool stuff too, but part of my heart really wishes women still smelled like this. It opens with a solid helping of aldehydes, and I don't understand how those aren't listed? Sometimes you needs to disregard the note pyramid I suppose. That's alright, almost every single flower known to mankind is listed...so...💐🌸💐🌼 I'll begin by saying it just smells really bergamot-y and green in its opening, and I get mostly lily-of-the-valley right away, it's dewy, and wondrously lush in a reflective kind of way. Something is also almost...sad or at least bittersweet about it. This draws the thoughts inward in an interesting way. As it dries out it actually begins to feel more dry in it's overall tone, carnation feels like a very *dry* floral to me. I don't get rose, or heliotrope, just carnations, lilac, lily-of-the-valley and an old fashioned powderiness. One can sense that this is excellently blended though, and intentionally indistinguishable, as nothing juts out at all. Unblended things are neat too, but this is that *classic*, balanced sort of floral that just isn't at common any longer, it has a refined nature. Everything here was carefully added and cultivated to create the fragrance equivalent of a fine silk scarf.

If you own Quelques Fleurs l'Original consider yourself one of the luckiest women in the world!! It is a masterpiece of perfumery that shows its quality from the first spray. This is not some drugstore or even department store scent. This is something that duchesses and queens would wear. It starts out subtle and coy, with a beauty that evolves as the day progresses. It is a beautiful flower garden with wafts of citrus, tarragon, green notes, and a medley of fragrant flowers. Over time it becomes an uninhibited, musky, woody, spicy scent. There is an unmistakable Guerlinade component swirling throughout with top notes of Lilac and Bergamot; middle notes of Orris Root, Jasmine, Iris, and Rose, and base notes of Tonka Bean and Vanilla. This seems to be the Golden Mean in perfumery. The sillage is enormous and it lasts in perpetuity. It is a like a love that envelopes you and refuses to die. The bottle is stunning; it looks like a Lalique creation. I should add that the ingredients list evernia prunastri, which is real oak moss. This is the mark of a true perfume made with distinction and class. It also lists citronellol, which is an oil extracted primarily from lemongrass, rose, and geranium, and cinnamal (chamomile). These must be the "green notes" listed. Another ingredient is eugenol, which is clove oil, which gives it the spicy smell at the end. This, my friends, is the real deal.

This is class, elegance in a bottle. My sister brought this back with her from her trip to Europe in the early 90's and before Fragrantica existed, it was told to her that it was supposed to have taken hundreds of flowers to make a single bottle. The legend of it being a fragrance procured in Paris in the early 20th century always appealed to me and the fact that in modern day we could wear it without smelling dated or old-fashioned always astounded me. As a teenager, I loved wearing her Quelques Fleurs (pronounced Coco Fleurs) and as a young woman I couldn't wait to get my own bottle. It still is in my collection and one of my favorite floral perfumes. It's blended beautifully and certainly is a cacophony of a floral bouquet. It's exquisite, classic, timeless, and can be worn year round, day or night. With jeans and t-shirt or a wedding gown, it goes with all occasions and is definitely a worthy signature scent. It's a true floral fragrance, not a white floral, yellow floral, purple floral or rose fragrance, a pure warm floral perfume. I would love to have a bottle created before all the restrictions were created, limiting many of the raw materials used to make the original Quelques Fleurs, however, the star of the show has always and will always be the beautiful fragrant bouquet of flowers.

I just gave my 81 year old mother (on behalf of my 90 year old father) a bottle of this exquisite perfume for Christmas. It has a sentimental value to us, as she purchased it many years ago when we were in Paris. I purchased my first Annick Goutal on that trip, but can't remember what it was - Gardenia Passion perhaps? Anyway, I remember thinking at the time that it was nice, but there was something about it, the green notes I believe, that made it merely a like to me. But mom adored it, and when she opened her gift she was thrilled. So what is my point, other than just a sentimental story? This time, when she wore it for the first time, I was knocked out by it's stunning beauty. This suits her perfectly, and should be her signature scent, but I immediately asked her for a decant and of course she said yes. I already own the Royale version and had given her a generous decant, so her reciprocity was a given - plus hey, she's my mom! While it smells better on her, I am now absolutely in love with it on me as well. I don't need a full bottle at this time, but eventually she will have a permanent place in my collection. I won't bother discussing the notes, because I don't really want to dissect this one. I want to enjoy it as the intoxicating bouquet it was meant to be.

I just want to preface by saying that I am aware that this version, released in the 80s, is not in fact the actual, original version and had been reformulated from the original Bienaimé composition. The abundant bouquet that is Quelques Fleurs was long regarded by me as far out of my scope: prohibitively feminine, perfume with a capital P. Regardless of its history and fame, I resisted spending even a second with it. Over time, however, I felt a sense of neglect. This classic: I must reckon with it, even if for reference. Now is the time. I find a L'Original EDP version from what I believe is the 80s or maybe early 90s and I hold my breath, depress the nozzle, then give Quelques Fleurs an inaugural sniff. Pleasantly surprised, I am struck by how thoroughly floral it is. Strata of flowers bursting out of the greenery, rose damascones dancing with violet ionones, a vernal brandish of lilac and lily of the valley, plump white florals. They descend on a bed of powder, moss, and musk. It feels decidedly a proper, formal scent, with just a glimmer of glamour. There is a dissociative sensation when wearing it, as if I am not the wearer but rather the observer, as it does its own thing while I am merely its vehicle. It isn't "me," yet I still want it on me. How curious!

I discovered this fragrance, of all things -- while opening my bill from Neiman Marcus. You can say anything that you want about Neimans, but they KNOW how to MARKET! Who would guess that I would discover one of my very favorite perfumes while opening a bill! But yes, Neiman Marcus found a way to do, just that! This was one of the best things that I ever discovered through the mail! This is a perfume classic - and probably a lot of people will be completely polarized by this one -- either you'll love this, or will want to steer clear of it -- there are probably very few who are "on the fence" about this one. However, if you are someone who really loves florals - you MUST try this! It is really gorgeous! This, like a lot of my very favorite fragrances, comes in with a chord which presents like a bouquet of flowers. You smell all of the different notes in this - as a blend. There are no screeching notes competing for center stage. This is a smooth, elegant blend. It has been over 20 years since I've had this in my fragrance collection. I'm revisiting this, just ordered some new samples...can't wait to try this again - and see how this has evolved with my taste over time.

Quelques Fleurs l'Original by Houbigant is the quintessence of the perfection of the art of perfumery, the mother fragrance of all women's fragrances, created in 1913 by master perfumer Robert Bienaimé with the inevitable reformulations remains the queen fragrance par excellence. An unprecedented triumph of every essence existing in nature, a jewel of rare beauty that must be adored and contemplated in its complex magnificence. The opening notes are citrus and green and open the olfactory experience to an opulent expanse of heady floral notes of the highest level. Triumph is incredibly bewitching and seductive. At dry down, enveloping and reassuring notes emerge: amber, animalic, sweet, musky, powdery, of rare harmony and unrepeatable caliber. The magnificent oily texture makes this magnificent fragrance persistent but not intrusive. Olfactory experience worthy of being lived and enjoyed. Absolute masterpiece.

This stuff is quality although you may be slightly underwhelmed initially . . . one spray on the back of the hand, the opening is like curled light green & grey tendrils of ivy & bathroom tiles bedecked with little mauve blooms . . . but I quickly get distracted by the sucked cinnamon candy/boiled cinnamon quills. On the box, in the ingredients listed, there are three cinnamon-sounding aromachemicals . . . further sprays seem to dramatically increase the cinnamal effect & make the little flowers even littler. It is tempting to call this scent “wardrobey” but I don’t think that is right . . . it is rather nice. You will be rewarded if you persist as it seems very different on the second wear. It is strong too & I can smell it all day with just two sprays on either side of the neck. If you spray a lot of this on your cardigans & things you will always smell matronly & so nice . . . I have also a purse flacon of the pure parfum with the goldtone cap, in the original sleeve & it smells wonderful & powdery & subtle like the little velvet violets used in millinery . . .

This fragrance is in a class of its own! To me this smells like a classy, respectable, beautiful woman. This is a powerhouse floral, and while it is green, this is not sharp at all. I'm not a huge fan of green fragrances, so don't let that descriptor turn you away from this if you don't like green scents. As it dries down, a vanilla/musky base comes through, but it stays floral through and through. I cannot pick out any distinct notes, but is definitely a mix of numerous florals. This is also powdery, but not in the sense of baby powder...it's much nicer, likely from the violet and iris. Although this is a floral, it is not light, it's a heavy, substantial floral. This is definitely not a young, girly scent---this is a classy, well respected woman. This is great for Spring, but I don't wear it in high Summer, as I'm in a tropical environment, and in the high heat/humidity this is headache inducing. If you are in a drier climate you could get away with this in Summer. This lasts ALL day with a strong sillage, and it only takes a spray or two.

I received QF today. Yay! It was a blind buy after reading so many positive reviews. For me Quelques Fluer is a very pretty, easy to wear warm, citrusy floral. The initial spray comes out as a green citrus (yet still floral) burst. It is strong but still very pretty imo. On my skin this quickly dries down into a beautiful, warm, slightly sparkling (for lack of a better word EDIT; maybe powdery) floral. I think it's the Orange Blossom that seems to pop on my skin. However, it is definitely a scent with depth and by no means linear. It feels unique, yet familiar. There is something about this scent that reminds me of Diptyque's L'Ombre Dans L'Eau. It was on my list of wanted fragrances, however Quelques Fluer may satisfy that craving for now. It is so beautiful to wear. The lightness of it makes me feel like I don't have perfume on, but rather like I am walking around in a place where the air around me is full of fresh flowery goodness. I can tell I am going to really enjoy this addition!

Quelques Fleurs is credited as being the first multi-floral bouquet, and an impressive one it is; sustaining rather beautifully the strongest pillar of Houbigant’s heritage in feminine perfume. This is a review of the current formulation, which does a splendid job of maintaining such a hugely iconic scent. It certainly doesn’t smell as old as you’d expect, this scent profile was decades ahead of its time. It is the essence of clean cottons and linens, freshly laundered enveloping you soft pillowy whites and lathered hand soap. Jasmine, orange blossom, lilac amongst others rest beautifully against the slightly green, stemmy, dewy accord of lily of the valley. But, to save it from becoming cliché and boring, a gummy note of tuberose begins to shine the brightest. It is at once chewy and candied, and incredibly sweet in a spectacularly delicious way. Despite its greatness however, modern constraints can be felt: it lacks the juxtaposed presence of oakmoss and musk that it should have.

Reviewing a vintage mini EDT, I believe, no label. To start with, to me, one of the things which makes Quelques Fleurs so unique is the green, the fresh green. It is the kind of smell that one gets when one enters a Conservatory in a grand home and it is winter outside, but then WOW this moist green floral wonderous smell hits you. It dries down fairly quickly to woodsy florals. It has a grandness about it, yet delicate too. Different notes volley at the net for attention but in a balanced and gentle manner. This is a great perfume for sure and I think this would make a lovely one for someone who loves floral but within a softer background. There was a drugstore scent years ago, a solid blue stick, called RAIN, maybe by Love. This perfume smells like a much richer floral enriched version of Rain. This is an all age, all occassion classic light green floral perfume. And NOT too strong....And GREAT for a wedding YES.. So many notes, I am smelling carnation now also,,,

Ok, what can I say about Quelque Fleurs except that I love having to pronounce the name itself because I love French anything, haha. Anywho, about the fragrance, the first thing that comes to mind after the initial shock wears off because let’s face it this is not a shy girl, she’s a little loud. The first thing that comes to mind for me is regal. The flowers picked to create this fragrance give off just the smell of absolute quality. No cheap flowers here folks. It smells of luxury, something a queen could wear with pride. This is not a frigid cold queen, this is a queen who got to marry her love and had many children with her love. She’s not a floozy either with court accepted filanderings, no. She’s a queen who loves her home, a warm woman with a tender heart. But let’s not forget rich as heck too, lol. I love it, I’m so glad I purchased it. It has its tiny moments of old world vibe but it’s just a gorgeous, gorgeous scent, that’s it! :):)

Quelques Fleurs (meaning "Some Flowers" in French) is said to use over 250 different raw materials and more than 15,000 flowers to create just one ounce of eau de parfum. It's an exquisite beauty, a rich and intoxicating - yet soapy-clean - floral exuding regal, feminine sophistication. There's a charming legend that Princess Diana wore Quelques Fleurs on her wedding day, and that she even spilled some on her dress as she was preparing to walk down the aisle! What a lovely scent for the summer. I can't wait to use it then. I got a fabulous deal on a new 3.3 oz. edp and I couldn't be happier. It opens citrusy and green then the florals arrive. Oh, the florals - beautiful, soft florals - not harsh in the least. Like a big bouquet of flowers. Lots of green in this fragrance which gives the flowers more realism, but it never overshadows the florals. They remain the focal point in this scent. The dry down is lovely too, mossy, powdery, a little sweet, with the hint of spiciness, and the flowers still softly in attendance. I love it. The silage is perfect if a little subdued. Not too much and not too little - just perfect - and the longevity is good. I tried this in the morning and while it turned into a skin scent by the 6th hour I still got an occasional waft of it now and again. If you like floral scents that are soft and romantic, this is a good one to try.

Quelques Fleurs is a mind-bogglingly beautiful floral, a complex medley so perfectly balanced it simply smells like divine serenity. Of course, Houbigant are best known for the genius creation that is Fougere Royale, but I think I actually prefer this - it’s pure floral bliss. An array of clean white florals are the focus here; copious amounts of jasmine, orange blossom, tuberose and a lily of the valley accord all sing in perfect harmony, among warmer, powdery flowers of lilac, rose, ylang, violet and orris. To further create this idea of a garden in full bloom, green notes make themselves known which give off this bright and stemmy, almost dewy effect. It’s utterly fantastic, if you’re a fan of florals this is one of the all time greats. The fact that this was released in 1913 makes it all the more impressive, it’s timeless. I will definitely have to pick up a bottle of this at some point.

Mature, Soapy, Clean, a bit powdery, and Honey like, with a bit of sweetness and absolutely beautiful and I have not smelled anything like this before, when I tell u this is my ALLLLL TIME favorite scent in this entire universe that I have ever smelled before its my number 1 in my collection that I could wear every day and not get tired of it, I bought it off ebay used with about 40 percent left but I didn't care because I was that desperate to try this one!! If it wasn't that expensive I'd buy 10 more backups of this, the honey note is quite dominate just to let u know, the smell Is truly one of a kind, I reccomend buying a sample of it to see how u like it because I feel as if this is you either love it or you hate it type of scent, I only wear this on special occasions going out to a fancy dinner, birthdays, Christmas, new years etc... I'd say it's a all year round scent

Oh my life! I have a sample of the quelque fleur extreme and I’m in love, truly! It does open in a green way but not sharp whatsoever, I then get golden yellow flowers, blended so well. It’s very soft, feminine and alluring, nothing choking and cloying like so many perfumes. I can’t stop smelling my arms. It lasts well but is very delicate at the same time. I simply HAVE to get a full size bottle! I’m obsessed! 😍 Update: I ordered a bottle of the quelque fleur l’original EDP, but have realised it’s the wrong one. At first spritz it seems the same but the dry down that is soooo beautiful in the extreme isn’t there int EDP. There’s a kind of lilac/violets smell that is missing. Really disappointed. The “extreme” is so much more expensive though. I’m going to have to wait though. I’ve spent so much on fragrances already 😕

This is a great spring/summer scent. I personally find it a bit too light for winter, but I imagine I will be using this all spring and summer. A beautiful, well blended green and slightly peppery-spicy floral. It reminds me a lot of EL Beautiful, but with a bit more of a vintage spicy oakmoss and covet animalic quality to it and the florals are more white while I find Beautiful to be more yellow. This is a lot different from your typical vintage frags though. L'heure Bleue, Mitsouko, No.5. I adore those and they are distinctly vintage and take you back to another time, but this is more timeless. Very green and natural smelling. You smell all of the flower as well as everything surrounding the garden. Stems, leaves, petals, grass, herbs and moss, as well as a slight earthy woodiness from the nearby trees.

I got my hands on a bottle of these from a local online marketplace, it was as beautiful as the first time i smelled it. I remember i’ve tested a bunch of perfumes on paper strips and this would stand out the most. That being said, few times upon wearing it, i could go “this smells a little bit old-fashioned”. But then i checked when quelques fleurs was first launched, it was 1913! NO WONDER there. It was even before the flapper age you guys. Even my grandparents weren’t born yet, trully. After knowing that, funny enough it never came through as old-fashioned to me anymore. More like in awe to be able to get a glimpse of what it feels like (way) back in the day. You know, the feeling you get when you watch a movie like downtown abbey, titanic, coco chanel, mary poppins, my fair lady and the like ^^

Just like with other vintage/moderns, there really should be two separate entries for the vintage and the modern because, as other reviewers have noted, the two bear little semblance to one another, save only that they are in the same over-arching category of 'floral.' The reformulation, or Quelques Fleurs L'Original, billed as an EdP, is a pleasant enough floral. Vintage Quelques Fleurs, which comes in multiple strengths, including a parfum, an EdT (which is stronger than today's EdP, similar to Chanel No. 5 or Opium), and others, is a powdery, mossy, spicy complex floral masterpiece, fit for a goddess, like nothing else I have ever smelled. Here, two completely different scents are being rated as one. That can only give a person the vaguest idea of what either could smell like.

Tímeles, classic, bougie feminine floral French explosion that wears with ever-changing notes dancing in a complex blend of multi floral and animalic facets. Not for the young or faint of heart, this fragrance evokes feminine strength and confidence. She is strong. She will cling to your clothes until the nth wash! This would be a lovely fragrance for a bride. I’ve consistently replaced bottles since 1998. Although my collection is over 250 bottles deep, this is my go to beauty for a black tie event or spring soirée. The longer she oxidizes and matures, the more beautiful she gets. If Houbigant continues making this I’ll probably have a bottle always handy for life. With this fragrance, that’s not a far fetched wish!

I live in Canada so I had to buy this through Fragrancebuy. Having bought perfumes from them before, I'm pretty sure this is the real thing, as I've tested others from Fragrantica against the real thing (weight of total item before unwrap, after unwrap, defining features, box, etc.) and found them to be the real thing. It's beautiful - definitely unique, an attention-grabber, and very feminine without being boisterous. I had to let it dry down on my skin, though I did like it from the start. Its real performance comes about half an hour to an hour later. After all these years, still evokes the memories from the first time I started wearing it back in 2011 when someone brought this home to me from vacation!

I've been wearing this fragrance for over 20 years. I tried to branch out to Byredo and Frederic Malle but kind of lose interest when they become these duty-free Instragrammable scents. Quelques Fleur is potent - it's not something you spritz before you head out the door. Agree with the other posts where they recommend it after-shower and about a 30 minute dry down. The scent lasts all day for me. The small shop in my city where I buy it gave me a sample of Les Parfums de Rosine's Ballerina no.3 which I had never heard of before. I was put off by the name but I've tried it several times and it has the same Quelques Fleur mix of a potent/obscure/confident scent that I might give it a go.

For decades I have returned to this one. A fragrance for whenever you wish to embody beauty, true, classical beauty. It’s not a weird scent, nothing sharp or pointy. No metal or ash. It has no time stamp — just classic elegance. More Quelque Violettes but also this, which I first picked up as a side signature a quarter century ago, were gateways to other powdery, green, and properly floral scents for me, each category now a strong love but here blended into perfection. A grandmotherly scent? The grandmother of today’s grandmother, perhaps. While my beloved Violettes has become extinct, I truly hope this remains forever available. May it survive another century!

Of all the revered scents from the early 1900's that have stood the test of time, THIS is my favorite. Without exaggeration I have had and worn Quelques Fleurs for over thirty years. I only recently learned that it was among Princess Diana's favorites, worn on her wedding day. In my opinion, the reformulations are nearly as good (which is unusual). Just recently I came across an 80's vintage bottle of the EDP online, so I scooped it up. The juice was darkened, and the initial blast was sharper, but after just a few minutes I was hit with the full beauty of this fragrance. Quelques Fleurs is one I will have in my collection for life. It is truly a masterpiece.

What about a relaunch of the exquisite 'Essence Rare'?! Just a few, simple yet beautiful essences, expertly blended to make an incredibly lovely perfume. One of the loveliest scents of all time and reasonably priced and very, very popular. So what do Houbigant do? Discontinue it! Of course! Perfect sense! Bozo's! Oh, it was used by me during a passionate five year secret affair and reminds me of the wonderful secret love I had, a love that, if you are lucky, comes just once in a lifetime. If anyone from whoever owns Houbigant now - Procter and Gamble? - (they seem to own just about everything), Please, Please, consider a Re Launch of ESSENCE RARE! Thank you

I love the "old" perfumes with complex note pyramids! This beautiful multi floral is a perfect example of perfumery done well. Starts out with a short-lived green blast that settles in after 15 min. or so, morphing into a bunch of white florals! These rest of the notes are well blended and I do NOT get any animalic civet. This perfume is absolutely gorgeous, spicy once it gets settled. I love everything about it....except it doesn't have the longevity I want, which is a problem. Otherwise it is perfect! Still may be FB worthy for me. If only I could afford a vintage bottle :( I know it would last forever on me.

With Dita Von Teese as my idol I’ve wanted to try this fragrance for so long! And oh my, I see why this was her signature for 22 years... This is such a beautiful vintage garden, classic and sweet yet I can imagine it being worn by such opposites. A pinup vixen full of retro class like Dita, or a sweet maiden like Arwen Undomiel. It’s gorgeous, the fragrance of a true timeless princess. My new signature. UPDATE: after sitting with this longer, there’s something tea like in this, perhaps earl grey. It creates this smooth warmth that I’m adoring- might be the honey. Ugh just buy this already!

The green notes, orange blossom, tarragon, and bergamot of the opening create almost the sensation of aldehydes. It's biting and fresh in a crisp vegetal sense, soothing in its natural qualities. A vintage floral mélange follows in vibrant, moist iterations. It starts to fade as oakmoss enters. The drydown the next day is a warm, sweet and beautiful scent. It is very well blended and has so many notes it is hard to pinpoint what I'm smelling, but it never seems too busy or chaotic either. It has the effect of a very natural smelling, vintage floral. Quelle belle époque!

I am sad to say that, after thoroughly testing this and Estée Lauder's Beautiful....they are so very similar to my nose that I can't justify owning both and Quelques Fleurs definitely wins between the two. The original Beautiful was indeed exquisitely beautiful but at this point in her life, she has not aged as gracefully as I would like; Quelques Fleurs, on the other hand, is a lovely, smooth Grande Dame. If I can offload my multiple bottles of recently-produced Beautiful, I will definitely fill her spot in my wardrobe with Quelques Fleurs. EDIT: Got it!

Light, pretty, classic floral. Agree that if you like very classic perfumes such as L’Heure Bleue, you will probably like this too. I personally LOVE L’Heure Bleue, and find this has a similar vibe, except Quelques Fleurs is lighter to me. LHB has that marvelous spicy vanillic Guerlinade dry-down, but that makes it a bit heavier to me and I would hesitate to wear it in warmer weather. Quelques Fleurs, on the other hand, can easily carry over to spring and summer. It has a light, clean, soapy vibe while still being a lovely floral.

I'm a cleaning lady. One of the wonderful pleasures of my job is being able tower and smell so many fragrances I never even would have known existed. I had two sisters as clients that both wore this. I loved it so much.when one told me it was only at Sachs and would cost at least $150, I felt really sad. Then Christmas came and they bought me a bottle! Quelques is so beautiful and lovely. It makes me happy just being in it's presence. I still have the bottle and smell the cap and atomizer. Love Quelques Fleuers so so much.

Said to have been worn by then, Lady Diana Spencer on her wedding day to become Diana, Princess of Wales. Although sometimes rumoured that she wore 24 Faubourg, we can safely ignore this as 24 Faubourg was composed by Maurice Roucel in 1995 and marriage to Charles, Prince of Wales was in 1981. It is to me a very complex scent and I wear it preferably to elegant, more formal dinners or events. I expect it is a scent that still contains much natural ingredients and hence will slightly vary on different wearer's skin.

Quelques Fleurs l’Original by Houbigant is absolutely incredible! It’s fresh, clean, and just radiates elegance. The sillage is amazing—it leaves a beautiful floral trail that lingers without being overpowering. The scent itself is so unique, there’s truly nothing like it. It’s this perfect balance of classic floral notes with freshness that makes it stand out from anything else out there. I’m just wowed by how stunning it is—it’s one of those perfumes that makes a statement without even trying. Wow, wow, wow!

It smells like creamy lilac with a drop of Jasmine, violet and a White bouquet of flowers, plus a pinch of vanilla and tuberose. It's soft and strong în The same time. It fills the heart with Beauty and Joy while you wear it. It makes you feel feminine and atractive, makes you feel like a Lady. An optimistic one 😊 I don't know what to say about sillage but after 9 hours to be asked what perfume I was wearing says everything about The longevity of this perfume. Please try it! Me too! I just saw Ditas video. I thought she wore magie noir and JPG clasique as a signature? Anyways I just got a small parfum of this and I get a tea note like a bag of chamomile tea a grassyness. I also get Pantene shampoo? Very spring classy. But I wouldn't picture dita wearing this I would see her wearing something more incense and maximal. This is a simple flower botique soap scent. I do like this. This is a nice break from a heavy winter scent. 7.5/10 -Spring Classy botique soap and tea_

I got my first bottle in 1998, I purchased my fourth bottle in 2022. Although this fragrance has been reformulated from some of its animal ingredients to synthetics, it still remains beautiful and complex. Perfect for a bride, or a grown woman unafraid of standing out with this rich, complex garden floral. Beware, because the edp is strong especially after oxidation. It will stay on your clothes until the third wash! Gorgeous and timeless beauty that looks like I’ll be repurchasing for life!

This is the most indescribably beautiful floral fragrance I’ve ever put my nose to. It opens very green and then as it dries down, all those gorgeous floral notes begin to literally bloom on the skin. It smells like a lush flower garden in full bloom with really realistic floral notes. It’s also a bit skanky with indolic white florals and animalic notes. This projects and lasts extremely long, clinging to clothes for days or weeks. A very high quality, regal, elegant, and timeless fragrance.

This is the best perfume ever! Longevity, class, and femininity in a bottle. Timelessly elegant and so well blended. It opens with a lush and green jasmine, tuberose and other florals bouquet punched up by aldehydes. Powdery in the middle because of the violet but not too sweet. Musky and slightly animalic in the base. Perfect for people who enjoy unique florals. 100/10 (bonus: princess Diana wore it on her wedding day and Dita Von Teese wears it as her signature...)
