Bosphorus

Bosphorus starts with a deep coffee and violet opening with a strange mossy feel to it, at first its almost like black coffee next to a damp seaside cave but as the bitter Seaweed notes fade, a bouquet of rose and violet become the stars. Powerful projection and a slight pungency in the first few minutes but it softens out into an everyday wearable Aromatic Rose. Black Tea is a note I haven't come across much, but I can recognise it in the dry down here, it LS bitterness pairs perfectly with rose and adds a slight boldness to the soft florals. I have tried 5 fragrances from HoA now and for me, this one evolves the most, it transitions into 3 almost individual fragrances and will take at least 3 wears to discover it's beauty. My opinion on Bosphorus has changed a few times since wearing and I'm still undecided.. I don't love it, but I really appreciate it. It's skilfully crafted and really changes as you wear it. It's opening is unusual but once it's gone, you miss it 🤔 Overall Bosphorus is slightly feminine but almost unisex, it performs well and lasts a good 4 hours on my skin. (And this next bit is just because I want to show my appreciation to a really kind, talented woman who goes above and beyond. My first order was Crystal Herb, I just couldn't resist the bottle design, and now 5 months later I have ordered Crystal Herb, Black Sea, He is Fish, Gurza and 'another secret bottle' from Elizabeth at House of Atropa and I am so so happy with everything. Elizabeth has been in contact all the way through, from sourcing and extracting ingredients to choosing glass designs and the cutting of her bottles. Being included in these processes is really unique and makes it personal. I just feel like this has been 10 times better than what any high street store could offer.)

It’s a very nice freshly brewed coffee scent with a slight sweetness to it, as if you were drinking coffee in carmel-by-the sea on a heavily overcast day. i don’t get any other of the notes, maybe even a hint of rhubarb (?)
