LA MAR

This is a gorgeous, solar white floral. I can somewhat see why people would think of Soleil Blanc with this, because they are similar in the opening, but the heart and dry down are very different. This opens with that familiar, slightly citrusy sea-sprayed expensive sunscreen type of vibe. But as you get closer to the heart, the white florals come full bloom, lush and lofty. The dry down is very pleasant, almost like a faint skin musk scent with a touch of sea salt. This is very well done -- and if you don't like too much coconut, it's really only prominent in the top notes and dissipates as it moves through the heart and base notes. I DO think if you have Soleil Blanc, you don't NEED this, but they aren't the same fragrance and it wouldn't be redundant to own both; however at the price point of each, you could definitely pick one or the other. Masterfully created! Definitely a smooth, easy wear. I got an official sample with a card listing the notes via the house -- and the description and the note display are different, so I'll include the notes given here for less confusion. La Mar has become one of my favorite beach fragrances. It captures the feeling of being seaside without the usual artificial coconut and screechy white florals you usually get with ocean-inspired perfumes. The opening is a breath of sea water — crisp and salty. It immediately conjures that feeling of standing at the edge of the ocean, breeze in your hair, sunlight on your skin.The gardenia and tuberose are lush but airy, giving the fragrance a soft, creamy richness without choking you out. They feel sun-kissed, natural, and beautifully balanced. The touch of coconut rounds everything out with a smooth finish. It’s not sweet or tropical—just gently creamy, like sun-warmed skin after a day by the water. La mar is tranquil but not boring, luxurious without trying too hard. If you're looking for a fragrance that captures the sophistication of a seaside escape, this is it.

I usually don't care for floral fragrances, but this one is a love for me. I got a sample pack with La Mar, Casa Blanca, and Ave Maria. I've been wearing this one most often. I get compliments every time. Definitely full bottle worthy to me. It's fresh and clean, very feminine, floral, but has a lot of depth. This fragrance is very smooth. The olibanum base note is present in the opening. It's very beautiful. It brings the whole fragrance together. The gardenia is always present, but the other notes also shine. The longevity is amazing. I go anosmic to my fragrances pretty often, but people compliment me on this fragrance well after 6 hrs. It's safe to wear to work. It has a pretty moderate sillage and projection. I usually like to douse myself to make sure my perfume doesnt wear off, but I purposely dont do that with La Mar. It just isn't necessary.

La Mar is a scent that tells you from the very first hit that it's beachy-coconutty in character, with milky gardenia, bubblegummy tuberose and salty vanilla. Absolutely very very lovely because I adore slightly salty white florals! Loved this one too, no surprise there :) Note: It's absolutely not comparable to Lys Mediterranee... the realistic lily note in that one is something else entirely. They're in completely different lanes. Some people may have compared them as marine-white floral, but I don't see the connection at all. La Mar... The Sea This fragrance is serenity in a bottle. The gardenia, the coconut, the almond... everything is so beautifully blended here. It’s such an elegant, soft, and cozy fragrance. Slightly sweet, in the best way. Sunscreen vibes, definitely, but it’s the most expensive sunscreen on the market. Nothing is cloying here. I chose a day when I had some sinus congestion to do a true test wear, where my own sense of smell wasn’t the greatest. I’m an over-sprayer, both on skin and clothing. I got pleasant whiffs frequently throughout the day. Compliments came very quickly while in the public setting. I have purchased a full bottle, and I think this is something worth testing if you’re into the sunscreen scents.

I absolutely LOVE this scent! I want this to be my summer signature scent. It’s beachy without being the standard sticky, heavy, Caribbean tropical coconut and fruit or sunscreen. This is fresh, feminine. It’s lighter. This has zero solar notes, zero warmth. Salty ocean breeze, beautiful white florals, and lightly sweetened fresh citrus over a creamy base that isn’t distinctly almond or coconut to my nose. It’s probably the most well blended creamy sweet tuberose I’ve ever smelled in all my perfume obsessed years. It’s exquisite and oozes opulence and sophistication. Stunning scent for me! This lasted all day, over night and I could smell it on my fleece the next day as well so longevity for me is outstanding.

I recently ordered a discovery set from House Of Bō. I knew right away I wanted to try Casa Blanca and ESPIRITU. I wasn’t sure what I wanted for my third scent but on a whim decided on La Mar. I have to say, I’m very surprised by how much I love this. It’s by far my favorite from the house. Tuberose can be a tricky note for me because I don’t like it if it’s too green or spicy. The tuberose in La Mar is a beautiful bubblegummy tuberose. The coconut blends with the salty aquatic and ginger notes which keeps this from being too sweet. This is something really special and not just your typical coconut sunscreen perfume. This is a well blended master piece in my opinion.

This fragrance instantly takes me back to the frangipani trees in Florida—lush, sun-warmed blossoms that always smelled like the fanciest sunscreen imaginable. On my skin, it’s a creamy blend of gardenia, tuberose, and coconut. Yes, it definitely leans into that sunscreen territory, but elevated—richer, smoother, and drenched in velvety white florals. It’s undeniably beautiful, and the longevity is absolutely there. That said, the price tag is downright egregious. I knew the moment I sampled anything from House of Bō that I’d regret it—not because it isn’t exceptional, but because it is that goodn Unfortunately, as much as I admire it, I just can’t justify the cost.

I did not expect to love this as much as I do! I'm so picky when it comes to any fragrance with coconut, and this is one of the first times my mind hasn't immediately jumped to "sunscreen." This is definitely beachy, but in a warm, almost sexy late afternoon way. You're at the resort spa with a hot towel over your eyes, or you're getting ready for an expensive dinner. Musky/clean girl energy. Not quite a skin scent, but more so than I was anticipating (huge positive in my books). La Mar is a very close second to my favorite of the three House of Bo summer samples, Casa Blanca <3 (& I like both of these decidedly more than Ave Maria)

I find La Mar from House of Bo to be one of the easiest scents to wear. An equal layer of seawater and light coconut balances the fresh scent of gardenia, tuberose, and jasmine. I wear this scent to the office because it's one of the few fragrances that doesn't overpower, yet always gets compliments. Some House of Bo fragrances are still too strong or too masculine for me, but this scent is one of my go-to bottles. I also love Ave Maria and Bombon if you are interested in other House of Bo scents. The caps on the bottles are a work of art, and I actually prefer the smaller bottles for their design rather than the full 100 ml ones.

This is an absolute stunner of a scent and I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did. I received a decant of this from a friend and for some reason it took me ages to get round to using it. However, although it’s full bottle worthy the price is up there when there are other scents that are similar for less money. This lasted all day though and I got whiffs off it several hours after spraying and even after a wintery hike. The white florals in this with the sea notes and coconut are blended to perfection do that nothing dominates. Worth getting your nose on this one in a shop if you can.

La Mar opens as a salt covered flower. The gardenia does have a slight resemblance to lilacs, as someone else shared. The ginger and tuberose give the mid a spicy creaminess that seamlessly transitions to the coconut and almond base. There is little to no sweetness from the almond, it’s more like an almond lotion skin scent. The spice and almond is what sets this apart from other marine scents. This is incredibly light, gauzy and graceful. It’s perfect for high heat. I want to wear this in a white silk dress drinking expensive champagne next to the ocean.

My notes on first trying a couple of sprays on the wrist: “initially all coconut. Then some white florals. Some sweetness but not too sweet.” On trying it a second time with quite a few more sprays: “initially sweet, pretty, jasmine. Becomes quite beachy in a tropical way, yet sophisticated, with soft subtle coconut milk coming through. Your nose is hit with an elegant, sparkly white flower explosion. The dry down starts to bring the coconut up and a milky almond, with just a hint of the white florals lingering. That’s when La Mar really shines. I love the base on this the most. Amazing longevity and evolution during wear. This and Bombon are my favorite House of Bo's, and I’ve tried all. Sophisticated without going too mature (feel like white flowers can be). A luxurious vacation at a 5-star Pacific Coast resort. You’ll feel like you’re on an dreamy beach getaway.

La Mar scent is delicious; I love both the parfum and eau de parfum versions. (In 10 ml) It has become one of my favorite beach fragrances, replacing Soleil Blanc TF for me. It perfectly captures the feeling of being by the sea, and the subtle spice and almond notes set it apart from other marine scents, giving it a creamy, sexy touch. La Mar was perfect for my dinner at the Waterfront Restaurant on Anna Maria Island.

I wasn't expecting the seawater note to be so potent when I first tested this. However, I still believe that this perfume smells quite lovely, with beautiful floral notes mixed with a bit of saltiness. This reminds me of the beach and swimming in the water while drinking a margarita. Elegant and sophisticated and is the first beachy scent that I have smelled that doesn't remind me of sunscreen, which is a plus.

Beautiful, watery tuberose with just a hint of coconut. The sea notes mixed with the white flowers is such a heavenly combination that you instantly understand why this fragrance made the prestigious FF finalist list last year. I adored this fragrance (and was the best out of the 3 free samples I got from House of Bo), but the longevity is pretty sad (1 hour), and the price point crazy high ($300 for a bottle).

I want to bathe in this! I love white florals and the salt water notes add another dimension that makes this a perfect summer feminine scent. I received a free sample and immediately loved it. I’m going to wait until I finish my sample just in case my nose( or the scent) changes on me, but I’m fighting the impulse to immediately buy a bottle so hard right now Edit: Consumerism won! My resolve is weak.

La Mar is absolutely stunningly gorgeous. Yes, there are a lot of white florals in the opening, but the dry down is an intoxicating, salty, creamy dream. I gravitate towards dark and ambery or smoky scents and have struggled to find a summer fragrance I adore. This is the one. It’s subtle but noticeable and the longevity is fantastic on me. My first House of Bo full bottle and will be purchasing more.

The coconut and almond milk blend flawlessly with light white florals. Nothing is overpowering. This is a smooth, floral, laconic and cozy scent. There is no artificial tropical smell. It’s a lovely tropical/beach scent without feeling synthetic. It reminds me of a subtle yet luxurious hotel lotion or bar soap but in the best possible way.

La Mar puts me on a Tahitian beach at night, with sunscreen and salt water still scenting my skin after a day near the ocean, the gorgeous bouquet of tropical flowers floating in the warm air. We are walking to dinner, with flowers tucked behind our ears — maybe frangipani or gardenia.

A beautiful solar floral composition. Where Tom Ford Soleil Blanc is the perfect beach scent, La Mar is the flowers you discover in the evening walk on the beach at sunset. Gracefully achieved floral composition with enough aquatic charm to tone down any hint of a suntan lotion vibe.

This is so lovely. If you enjoy white florals, like me, this is a great signature scent for the summer. The creaminess of the gardenia and coconut are there, but it feels light, refreshing and very slightly salty with the sea water notes.

I love it! It’s musky, clean, salty with a goodly amount of conditioner-esque tuberose. BUT I feel like that chunk of pretty rock on the top/all the marketing has pushed the price a bit into crazytown.

Lovely scent. So rich, so beautiful, it screams wealth. It’s December right now and I cannot wait until the summer to wear this! And the packaging is so luxurious! 10/10

Never expected to like this as much as I do. Usually coconut smells off on my skin but this is heavenly. Need a full bottle ASAP.

This was love at first sniff for me.

Ohhh how I wanted to love La Mar. On paper, it should have been an easy yes for me — the inspiration is clear, the notes are gorgeous, and I can absolutely see the vision behind it. But on my first wearing, something just didn’t land the way I expected. I’m giving it a few more tries before I make up my mind, because this might have just been a “bad nose day,” but here’s my honest first impression. The opening leans much heavier into white florals than I anticipated. Instead of the airy ginger, pink pepper, and true coconut water I was hoping for, the gardenia and jasmine stepped forward immediately and took over the entire stage. For my nose, it felt almost intrusive — like the florals were pushing past the other notes instead of blending with them. I laughed when I saw another reviewer call it “the most expensive sunscreen smell ever,” because I can see where that comparison comes from. I think the intent was to elevate that beachy, sun‐washed vibe with lush florals, but on my skin the florals didn’t elevate the beach — they became the whole beach. With that being said, I’m not giving up on it. I’m going to try again with a clean nose, on a warm day, maybe even during a weekend trip to the beach. Sometimes a scent needs the right weather, the right mood, or the right moment to click. And oh, House of Bō... I want to love you.

If you are looking for a floral beachy scent that does not smell like coconut or sunscreen, then this might be your girl. I have the EDP in a big bottle but the Parfum in a travel size. I can’t really tell a difference so I’d opt to save the cash and go for the EDP if you don’t absolutely need the beautiful cap the Parfum comes with. This is salty, floral, lactonic, sitting by the pool or the ocean, summer in a bottle. It is less juvenile that most that fit this scent profile and a big plus is it doesn’t have that play doh note that I get from Tom Ford Soleil Blanc. When I think of this scent I think of hopping a quick flight to Cancun with my girls. I’m at a great all inclusive in a two piece with a matching linen coverup, an amazing straw beach bag and the perfect sunglasses. My girls trip friends are going back and forth from the chairs at the beach to the pool and it just smells *happy*. If you don’t like tuberose, this may not be for you but as a self confessed tuberose hater I still love it, it is perfectly blended.

There’s a lot of negative talk about the white flowers here and I don’t believe it’s warranted. Yes. It’s there, especially in the opening. My initial spray first impression was that this reminded me of Aerin Hibiscus Palm so of course, I had to go spray that on the other arm to compare. That same tuberose-y, white flower, playdoh note is definitely there in both. However, I’m now 30-40 minutes in and I can confirm that La Mar’s white floral notes have significantly calmed down to a lovely, fresh and clean aquatic scent. HB is still going white floral strong in contrast. I love the freshness of La Mar but I’m skeptical that it would last long. I do not get a laundry or aldehydic vibe. It’s just...fresh and aromatic. Really beautiful, I think. I’d say if you love clean and minimal give this a try but give it a bit to calm down on the flowers.

Unfortunately I don’t get any creaminess either. This is the scent of the sea in a bottle. It has been very well executed. I love white florals, but don’t really sense much of them here. This is a very aquatic fragrance. I mostly get a hint of jasmine mixed with sea notes. I like it and I’m sure I’d enjoy smelling it on others. I’d wear it on occasion if it was bought for me, but I won’t be buying it myself. I feel I’d find this a bit overwhelmingly nauseating if I was to actually wear this as a perfume. I don’t feel this is worth the price point. I find this too similar to Jo Malone Wood sage & sea salt or Bybozo Sea breeze, both of which are much much cheaper. House of Bo hasn’t really impressed me with any of their scents, other than Ave Maria which is stunning. I’d highly recommend that one! La Mar is a pass for me.

I have just sampled this on a humid London day in 24 degrees and love it way more than I thought I would. I get an atmospheric salty sea spray mixed with a citrus burst. The gardenia comes through strongly, it is creamy, heady, sharp and clean smelling. La Mar smells elegant and high quality. Unexpectedly, given the notes, I prefer this to Ave Maria. La Mar serves as a fair but pricey alternative to my beloved discontinued Narciso white cube. For the fact it does lack some originality, Casa Blanca is still my top pick from the house. This is a strong like, evocative and reminiscent of carefree summer days accompanied by white florals and an ocean breeze.

Such a pretty scent. I’d love to wear this after being out at the beach or pool all day and sun-kissed, showering, and spraying this all over and going out for the night. It just reminds me of a summer vacation . There is a specific note that is jumping out to me? Spraying it more I realized it is reminding me of Clamato. It does fade somewhat as it dries down. This reminds me similar in vibe to Nitesurf Neroli but I like how much more blended Nitesurf Neroli is. This one is more feminine and floral while Nitesurf neroli you can smell the roasted seashells. I don't think I will full bottle this but will finish my travel size.

This is my 3rd sample from House of Bo, and I remain impressed by each. Like Casa Blanca and Ave Maria, La Mar is olfactory art: evocative, familiar, foreign and intoxicating. LM is an aquatic white floral. There’s a gorgeous, almost bubble gummy, tuberose that elevates this from being an uninteresting aquatic. I don’t think La Mar is the most intriguing of the house’s summer lineup, nor does the scent transport me to another place and time, like Ave Maria did. However, I’d be lying if I said this perfume isn’t beautiful. Also, sampling this has confirmed for me that House of Bo does white florals exceptionally well.

The first whiff of La Mar brings to mind sunscreeen, seaside gardens, and linens stiffened by saltwater. I pick up a grapefruit note, completely fresh and not at all bitter, that’s not listed. It takes a minute for the coconut and almond milk to come through, but when it does, it makes me feel like I’m in and out of a nap in a room warmed by the evening sun after spending all day on the beach. I only get this warmth on my skin, though. On the tester it remains rather sunscreeny and fresh. I wanted to adore this fragrance and I do like it, but not the way I wanted to. I’m glad to have it for summer anyway.

la mar smells exactly how its notes make it out to smell; white florals with coconut being rounded by salty seawater. its beachy in a florida chilly-beach-sunset way with light sunscreen and suntan lotion notes. im used to writing longer reviews but for la mar, i genuinely dont have much to say aside from "smells like a cooler beach day." its longevity is alright, sillage is alright though you do need to overspray to get it to last. i think this fragrance would work perfectly in a travel size to throw in a beach bag/purse on a summer vacation.

I'm learning that I love salt notes in perfumes. This is exactly what I expected it to be, a fresh, clean, summer ocean scent. The perfumer's description is bang on, it's the scent of skin after diving into the ocean wearing an exquisite floral perfume. The top notes are prominent with sea water, gardenia, and pink pepper before it settles into something creamy and slightly sweeter. Super elegant, conjures images of white linen and bright blue water. An excellent choice for hot summer days when anything sweeter would be too cloying.

The two times I’ve worn this around my husband he has complimented me. It’s something I would personally only wear outside on a hot sunny day - vacation or baseball game kind of thing. That said, even wearing it around my house, I enjoyed it. It’s not an every day scent for someone like me but I liked it more once I started getting my husband’s glowing feedback. He gravitates towards jasmine so I guess that’s why

Sea salt meets tuberose with some marine aqua blended in. Very feminine. By all accounts I should LOVE this but on my skin.. just is too mature. Reminds me of my mom wearing coppertone out in the hot summer sun. While I enjoy the scent I, personally, don’t want to smell like that. Plus only being able to wear this for three months of the year. Can’t justify a full bottle. Happy with a travel size.

I smell zero almond here. While this is obviously white floral heavy, it has an almost sharp, green or aromatic vibe. For me, it's a strong sea water vibe with a spicy gardenia base being the strongest floral note to me. It definitely does seem good for a vacation scent but I don't think I'd spring/need a full bottle at the $300 price point. It's a like to strong like for me.

It's nice, but nothing new in my opinion. I feel like I can get the same olfactory experience from a lot of other fragrances that are either less expensive or done better. A little more sophisticated and less sunscreeny than Vacation by Vacation. The bottle is work of art. Too seasonal for the pricetag though.

This is no doubt a gorgeous solar/beachy white floral! I might piss some people off but I do think I get the same general effect from my Juliette has a Gun Lust for Sun. There is definitely a difference as JHAG is more synthetic in the dry down but I think the white floral combination is quite similar.

This is a beautiful beachy white floral, I get the gardenia and a bubblegummy tuberose mixed with coconut and solar notes. It’s not unique but if you love beachy florals and don’t already own one then this would be a nice choice. But if you have one...or a few, you don’t need this.

Great longevity, has lingered on my skin all day without losing its composition. Beautiful and sunny, cheery but in a subdued way, like that contentedness when you've arrived at vacation and finally relaxed into your lounge chair.

I got this as a surprise sample in with a Mercari order. I’m SHOOK by how much I like it, especially considering the gardenia in it. It feels modern, clean, beachy, and summery. If I had the money, I’d spring for a full bottle!

I don't always love sunscreeny white floral scents but this one is nice and not too overbearing. Its nice and beachy, and gets softer and creamier in the dry down. It's not very unique though if that's what you're looking for.

What an interesting scent. It feels a bit tropical, but there is an undercurrent of slight bitterness to keep the creaminess in check. I get tuberose, gardenia, and maybe watery notes. It’s complex.

A light, beachy take on tuberose. You can definitely smell the salt air. A little bit soapy. There are some similarities to other beachy scents, but imo this is unique enough to stand out.
