Antimony

This is simply one of the most beautiful scents. My husband who normally likes my perfumes but never really comments on them has given me multiple compliments about it. I have layered it twice with Penhaligon's Malabah to create the perfect scent for me: an elusory, sexy, spicy, deep incense lingering on the pages of a much-loved book. Inviting, warm, sensuous, and completely unique. I love the henna note in it! My chemistry often makes perfume smell horrible on me, and my sense of smell is very particular egainst most fruity or syrupy scents; therefore, I always check the notes and never buy without a sample. House of Matriarch offers samples for about $20. I see a full-size bottle sometime in my future.

This is unique and beautiful, I love it. From the first spray, I found it really REALLY intriguing and it has totally captivated me all day. It's dusty (not chokingly so) and resinous, gourmand and delicious, sorta like Fjerne and Coco Blanc, with floral elements in the background. I bought a discovery set and I got this as one of the five, and the actual sprayer did NOT work yesterday for some reason. This morning it went on much better and immediately I fell in love with it. So far, this has progressed onto the next stage, and I have a good feeling it may progress even further... Stunning scent.

OMFG I haven't worn this one in YEARS and I just put it on and it blew me away. Wow. This is a wonderfully fragrant, balsamic, resinous scent. It is the confluence of frankincense, copal, palo santo and dry ash. It's not obnoxious, it's not dry, it's not unbalanced, it's gosh darned PERFECT. OMG I haven't worn this in YEARS and I forgot about this entirely. I'm not sure if this is Pantheon material, but it is DAMN CLOSE. DAMN CLOSE.

This really smells wonderful, a heavy, woody & smoky yet floral aroma with charcoal overtones that for a westerner like me smells wonderfully exotic. And the level of sweetness is perfectly balanced by ash and feels natural. It’s hard to tell what predominates here, I’m going to guess the baked earth, florals, ash, and then woods.I highly recommend a sniff. Absolutely unisex.

Hmmm...Henna, myrrh, olibanum chunks, & Arabian style mamool. This is just impressively beautiful! that henna mingled with myrrh, olibanum, and dusty Arabia style mamool (incense) is just dangerously beautiful. Some people might see this as animalic, but all i can say is that this is an extreme Arabian style blend, & specifically the Arabian peninsula side of Arabia. The cool down brings up the creamy palo santo, powdery sandalwood mixed with ashes, & a buttery medicinal jatamansi. This blend is just amazingly beautiful, and well balanced and crafted. It reminds me of "Calling All Angels" by April Aromatics somehow. It's for those who adores that Arabian style incense. Beautiful.

This opens slowly on a dark, sweet and sour leather. Above woods, resinous oud, incense, strong doses of copal, smoke, roses and henna. Full of roots, stems, leaves and flowers green, unripe and bitter. An olibanum, dark, burnt and leathery, but which is also sweet and somehow ... culinary on the skin. Like a herb bitter. Strange.

What an intoxicating,(and as carter0012 put it so perfectly) absolutely addicting fragrance. This was my first experience with House of Matriarch. I had been dying to try Christi's perfumes for quite some time, and received this as a gift from my best friend who knows how much I love deep, dark, incensey perfume. I was not fully prepared for how beautiful,complex and special this would be. This is unlike anything else I've ever smelled. It is truly unique. At first application, it's like standing in the middle of an exotic spice market. It's smouldery. I can't pick out any one note, it's beautifully blended. As it dries down and settles on my skin it becomes less smouldery and I get a hint of floral notes (this is not heavy floral at all, just a hint as it morphs but ymmv. The floral notes just round out the blend) and precious woods. It's both comforting and very alluring all at once. I can't tear my nose away from my wrist while wearing Antimony. I cannot WAIT to explore more of House of Matriarch's scents. This is a masterpiece. If you like complex,incensey blends and want a truly special addition to your collection, you need this. As a side note...My daughter is my unofficial scent tester...she's extremely picky and there isn't very much that she gives a green light to. As she sniffed my wrist, a huge smile crept across her face. She loves it. Thank goodness, because I'm going to be wearing it A LOT.

I have vivid memories of being a child and returning to our home after a day or two away: Entering the unlit and empty house, slightly colder than when we left (its always wintertime in these flash-memories). I ́m standing in the hallway, jacket still on, and I just breath in the the smell of our empty hose. It smells familiar and yet utterly alien. To me Antimony catches that feeling: I find it amazingly comfortable and yet alien and intriguing. It smells like my childhood and my mother (maybe because of the henna). It sweet and incensy and smells a bit like lingering food hours after preparation (might be the galangal and ghee) with a cup of tea cooling in the background; which might sound unpleasing but really works for me. There ́s something in it that makes me think of pencil-shavings. And I can detect the rose (I don ́t like a lot of perfumes with a distinct rose accord but there are a few). But in the end, I ́m not much for dissecting the components of a perfume, I ́m in it for the feeling it evokes: And this is amazing.

This scent immediately reminded me of living in NYC in an apartment building with neighbors from all around the world, India in particular. It is strange and exotic to a western nose (especially in the earliest stages). I love the drydown of intense, dry incense with the tiniest minty sweetness.You won’t find anything quite like this from any other brand. It’s the definition of niche.

I really enjoy this scent. My wife often burns palo santo wood (like incense) in our home, and I can definitely pick up on the palo santo note in this. It's quite nice but doesn't develop much on my skin. It also performs admirably on my skin.
