Madrona

This fragrance opens up with an excellent lavender note. Probably one of the best I've put my nose on. I get a very earthy Vetiver and that's mostly what I get from this scent. Cedar comes out in the drydown a little but the Vetiver and Lavender are the main players here. Performance is average to a little bit above. This is definitely an everyday fragrance. I cannot see this being a night out or date scent but a casual scent for sure. Out of all the ones I've tried, and I don't hate any of them, this one was the most underwhelming. Still a great fragrance for casual use and a very authentic smelling scent. Quality materials used in all of these but I think I will settle for my sample on this one. If money was no object I would grab this up for sure. Rating 7.5/10.

Strong lavender with a green earthy punch and an underlying base of dry smoky vetiver (I see why people say incense because of this). I don't really get fruity or particularly marine with this, more of a wet mossy feel and kind of a leathery aspect lurking around. It reminds me of the Tom Ford "Vert" collection, not like one in particular from that range but I could see this as part of that group as it has a bold green genre presence like they do, and considering this is all-natural it lasts an impressively decent while also. I don't think this is necessarily worth the price HoM charges personally but I think it is worth trying if you like foresty earthy fragrances and more consideration when discounted.

So, I was ready to dive in and spend the outrageous price on a full bottle of Madrona based on the description and reviews - spent $100 on a decant. Glad I didn’t spend more. I enjoy men’s and unisex scents. I looooooove Vetiver. Chanel Sycamore, Diptyque Tam Dao, Lush’s Breath of God., etc. Unsanitized earthy Lavender is also one of my favorite things in life. On my skin, this is a faithful, over-strong love-child of Lush Rentless and Goddess solid perfumes - which you could get for under $20 both, and go to town mixing and wearing to various Seattle-based outdoor gatherings. Let me be clear, I don’t particularly mind any of these scents, but I don’t love them and wouldn’t own a whole bottle. Madrona smells nothing on me like the listed notes would suggest. On my skin, Its all amber and resin and incense on the dry-down none of which are listed. It is heavy and medicinal. I get no lavender and nothing aquatic. Nothing natural or restrained either. It almost feels like an expectorant in the back of the throat... While I could see wearing this vibe in Seattle at a folk music fest, outdoors, and it would mix well with booze and ganja and sweat, I cant really imagine wearing to other kinds of occasions. For the price, this one’s definitely a pass... quite miffed about that... glad about the found $$ though... yikes

I like this one, but not as much as Christi’s other scents. This one has such simple notes, and not many of them at that, but they all work well together. Straight up I get the lavender, but there’s something else there as well – a sort of dusty, fruity note. I have no idea what arbutus smells like so I’m not sure if it’s that giving the fruity note or just the way that this scent reacts with my skin. Although there’s no leather listed in this, that’s what I get too – a warm, spicy, smoky leather. About an hour after putting this on, I got the tiniest hint of chocolate touched with incense. After around five hours, it started smelling very dusty and musty, but that settled after around an hour, and it settled into a nice, soft, spicy skin scent.

This is a great fragrance. Very similar to the style of perfumes from the house of Zoology. Almost like a hybrid of 40% Rhino and 60% Bat. Not the same at all but definitely several fragrance notes in common.
