Whispers of Time

The ginger/orange blossom opens very assertively here, a bit sharp, but not too aggressively piercing. There is a slight fruitiness to it, reminiscent of Fruit Loops cereal, but sophisticated. During dry-down, it makes way for cedar and musk, once again a solid blend from HOS Whispers. I was perusing reviews of HOS fragrances, and one reviewer said it best: "Nearly all the HoS fragrances I got are better with a few wears, to give yourself time to appreciate their complexities".

I really like this and several other fragrances from the House of Sillage. The issue is that they just don't have any projection or longevity on the skin or clothes - even if you overspray. If the scents lasted longer, I'd be the first in line to purchase. But as it stands now, I just can't justify the $300+ price tag just for a pretty bottle. I can get other niche house fragrances that last forever for a lower cost.

This fragrance has so much beautiful potential, but it simply doesn't have any staying power. So disappointed! It opens with a bright explosion of lemon, bergamot, neroli. If you've ever smelled or used Jean Nate splash then you know this scent. Sadly, this opening disappears quickly to be replaced by the mid and base notes. Some people have described the scent as "kind of like fruit loops". I understand why people might say this, but for me it didn't go completely in that direction (thank goodness). For me, it was a delicate candied ginger mixed with cedar wood and some orange blossom. And just a very, very faint hint of musk. Not my favorite combination, but not horrible. It's slightly sweet and a bit comforting. But here's the nail in the coffin (so to speak), the dry down only lasts for 1-2 hours. After that, I have to put my nose right against my wrist to smell a "whisper" of the fragrance. And I sprayed this on myself liberally. Sadly, after I finish this bottle I won't be purchasing another. And I really loved the beautiful bottle!

The initial hit of this gave me a flashback to my childhood, smelling my mom's Jean Nate after bath splash...it's potent. The citrus underneath is nice, but not worth the price point, even if the bottle is gorgeous. California Reverie or D&G Light Blue Intense will give you the same vibe for SO much less.

I loved it at first - fresh, strong citrus and ginger - but after about four hours, it became a skin scent that’s unpleasant. Somewhat sour, and with this underlying note that I’ve also disliked in House of Sillage’s Tiara and other “Whispers of” scents. Maybe it’s HoS’s version of musk? It’s an “old lady” smell, in that it’s reminiscent of the powders/dry shampoos used by elderly who can’t bathe as often.

This is a weird one. It smells like my great grandmother’s bathroom soap, but somehow it’s addictive. I was completely turned off and almost disgusted when I first sprayed it. But, do you know how something stinks so bad but you can’t stop smelling it? Yea, it’s just like that. I think it grew on me within a few hours. Maybe I’ll wear it whenever I’m home alone and not planning on leaving the house. Edit: Okay it does smell like funky Fruit Loops. But more like a knockoff brand like Millville Fruit Rounds or something lol. I don’t know what’s giving it that funky-ness, I think it’s the ginger. But it stinks so good whyyyyy? That sharp/tangy opening only lasts for about 20 mins, then it dries down to a semi sweet, pleasant floral. It’s decent, it definitely grew on me. It only lasts about 3 hours on my skin, unfortunately. For the price that’s ridiculous.

I finally found my signature scent! I love herbal scents and they're so hard to find at perfume counters. I like to mix joe malone basil and neroli with a little orange blossom and it smells great but doesn't last. Whispers of time is herbal but complex, feminine and unlike anything else I've smelled, plus it lasts. It is sharp and unique at first spray and I still like it even then, but if you hate it, definitely wait about 20 minutes for a beautiful dry down. It gives me "rich, eccentric lady who eats all organic, likes astrology and is the life of the dinner party" vibes. I was really skeptical about buying perfume from a socialite rather than an established fragrance house, but I'm addicted!

This is fresh, clean neroli/orange blossom with a bit of bergamot that adds a nice brightness. This is indeed very similar to Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino so if you like that, you're pretty much guaranteed to like this. But also if you already own the Tom Ford and don't like redundant fragrances in your collection, you can probably pass on this. But if you're really curious, I'd say just get a sample rather than a bottle.

This opens with a nice ginger/orange blossom note and then begins to transform into a fancy smelling Froot Loops sort of scent. Finally it dries down with a bit of musk. This is not something I need in my collection as it is not "me", but I haven't smelled anything I've actively disliked from this house and it's a lovely creation.

Almost smells like lime citrus to me. Fresh bright citrus BUT I think to some this could come off as "citrus cleaning product" in that sort of astringent way. Also, I've smelled this DNA many times before so this one is not unique enough to justify the price point unless, of course, you collect the bottles.
