Limes Des Buras

I find it absolutely amazing that there are no other reviews for Hove' Limes Des Buras fragrance considering it has been in their lineup for decades now. That said, this is a delightful scent, with decent dry down, moderate longevity and reasonable sillage. Going backwards, the sillage goes to just within a full armlength unless there is a breeze and it may extend beyond. I like that as it's just the right amount of residual scent without being overpowering to others in a room, especially a business meeting. The moderate longevity is a bit deceiving in that the base notes of this fragrance actually are quite long, often extending to the next morning with that faint but ever present lingering of the polished residual scent. And the dry down is very pleasant and when used after a shave (I wet shave) it does not possess a harsh sting at all, yet the dry down is not lingering, meaning it is not a highly water diluted product but consists of just the right amount of water, alcohol and fragrance blend. I'm a great fan of lime fragrances, especially the more true-to-lime fragrances. One problem with true-to-lime fragrances is that they typically don't have great longevity of scent or sillage beyond say 30 or 40 minutes later. Also, the energetic quality of lime fragrances, especially more true-to-lime fragrances is they are cooling in their affect, which may account for why they and citrus fragrances are so popular during hot weather. Not so for Limes Des Buras. It possess a smooth warming (but not hot) energy and quality about it, and I do wear it year round regardless of weather. Also, it does not possess the sharp penetrating aspect of other predominately lime scented fragrances, again, much smoother and slippery in its effect. All in all, a great go-to fragrance when a bit of sophistication is desired but not in a heady or driving sense, but more of a subtle nudge.

Fresh cut limes, bracing, pure and invigorating. I adore Floris Limes, but for the price I prefer this - its a bit more powdery, but better value. Spray lavishily.
