Hyde Park

+ Hyde Park continues to grow on me. Ways I missed its excellence earlier and failed to rise to its challenges taught useful lessons. + One must appreciate the level of grey around the greens and floral elements. Hyde Park IS in London after all and the weather can be dreary adding grey to the urban expanse. + Some notes seem heavy at times. Others push strong with some awkwardness. All together I believe the designer created an intriguing level of complexity that is admirable when authentically recognized and that most online reviewers haven't understood. Eau De Parfum concentrations can seem to jumble the experience of the ingredients which compose the notes and accords. In Hugh Parsons Hyde Park the combination of grey, perhaps accomplished by the interaction of the labdanum with other compositional elements, the 3 types of fig and the EDP concentration threw me for a variety of loops. + What made the difference is studying to more accurately interpret the note experience. Once I could differentiate the fruity fresh sweet fig from the leaf and wood figs, the scent opened substantially! + It works well year round providing the sweet is interpreted right and not as cloying or overly perfumy. Still, it favors cool and probably best matches cooler spring days with a tad of bone chill and overcast skies. It is brilliant as the warmth of Autumn yields to signs of winter upcoming and shows much greatness perceived as a garden tended through winter in a greenhouse on a city building roof. + This is not an easy scent. Don't blind buy it unless you are frag gutsy, knowledgeable or plain wild like me. When I buy a fragrance in almost all instances I spray through it and this can result in unexpected discovery. We've gone some rounds me and Hyde Park and I have been matured meaningfully through the leafy roller coaster ride. + Minor occasions of a synthetic vibe register to my nose. This seems fair for the price. I do not know of a similar cologne for a man of these times. What at first seemed a clumsy miscue has proven itself a masterful scent poem of beautiful garden life with wonderful blooms and also city realities affected by a drizzle. + For an unsuspecting buyer looking for a nice green frag this will strike you as about a 4/10. The most joy you will get out of it is while chucking the still mostly full bottle at an offending party you want to straighten out. As a general review ranking I assign 7/10 in clarity that Hyde Park does give the wearer quite the undertaking towards building rapport. For those who love a good wrangle that unfolds through many wears, weathers and skin statuses here is a 10 for 10, for the price, and given that some passers by on the road of life will inform that you smell like a mystery weed!

If you like fig, fig leaf, greenness, freshness - you'll probably like this. It reminds me of being in the back of a station wagon heading to the beach when I was a kid windows down, hot air blowing your hair all over, and not caring about a single damn thing in the world except having fun for the day. It's ironic because there are not many figs in the deep south, but that's the overall impression that I get with this scent. When I first tried it, I was looking for fig scents all over because that is one of my favorite notes. I was a little taken back honestly because this is the first fig scented frag that I have tried that was course. This reminds me of sunscreen, but in a good way. Even though it has notes that usually seem heavy, I get a airiness out of this that is really nice. I enjoy the way that the fig leaf plays off of the labdanum. Genius. It is a unique and nicely done fragrance that I enjoy wearing. I've worn it all summer and I think it will do well during the fall too until it gets too cold. I wish I could make the comparison to Dune, but I haven't ever tried that one. I would have liked to tried it. Cheers!

This is a unique fragrance. Unlike others here, I don't associate this with sun and summer. I associate this with a gray overcast fall day. It has some depth and character that many other fig fragrances don't have. It has a deep floral/green character that is tinged "grey" by the labdanum. While this conjures up a cloudy day for me, it is not a cold or cool fragrance: It has its warmth and plenty of character. It is not a playful fragrance but is more serious than your normal figgie frag. Longevity is normal for an EDP, lasting throughout a work day. Sillage is normal too, perfectly acceptable.

This is an incredibly green and marvellously aromatic scent! My love at first sight. Imagine an afternoon walk, in late spring, through the "Royal Baths Park" (Pol. "Łazienki Królewskie") in Warsaw, Poland. You come to a halt near the monument of Frédéric Chopin, where a piano recital has just started. In the immediate vicinity, trees take a rest after a hot day. The monument of Chopin, and the performing pianist, are surrounded by a myriad of roses. Somewhat beneath them, wild ducks are floating on the pond. The air is imbued with fragrances and the music; rays of the sun slyly sneak through the leaves and the beholders. There is only one pianist, albeit you have the impression that a great orchestra plays. This is not any short composition for the piano by Frédéric Chopin, this is not even his "Revolutionary Étude" (in C minor) - this is the full Piano Concerto No. 2 (in F minor). A true feast of colours, lights, sounds, and - aromas. Hugh Parsons' Hyde Park is like this great Frédéric Chopin Piano Concerto. Always inviting. Always variegated. - Always dazzlingly beautiful!

An interesting cheapie (so temper your expectations) It's a green leaf and juicy fig but with a sweet fruity and peppery front end. Not super natural smelling at all, but quite unique and I think it will make an excellent spring scent.

A difficult sell when you have other competitors that render the beautiful combination of Fig leaf and fruit in a much more satisfying way. Strangely this lacks freshness or sweetness to my nose, opting for a slightly bitter, metallic greeness, without warmth, or sensuality. It gives the impression of misery, greyness and an unyieldy green that to my nose is annoying. That some compare this to Dune confounds me. Dune has warmth, it sparkles and with a beautiful slightly powdery sweetness, is a reserved yet sensual offering that offers us fig and sunshine with beautiful touches in the cassis and mignonette which I suspect is responsible for the soft edged sweetness. All in all Hyde Park is a disappointment and frustratingly lacking, considering its, on paper, inviting note list.

terrible stuff, smells like weird plastic, have over 200 great colognes, I gave this serious dud away. No Thanks!
