Created by Annick Menardo and Suzy Le Helley, Elixir delivers a fragrance that could easily be mistaken for a niche perfume. The opening is intense and captivating, with frankincense and cardamom dominating the air; at this stage, I smell more frankincense than cardamom. The incense adds a mysterious, warm, and almost meditative touch, while the cardamom adds a spicy, sophisticated note—it's the kind of opening that grabs attention and conveys confidence. In the heart, patchouli appears earthy and elegant, balanced by vetiver, which brings a dry, woody, and masculine side. This is where the perfume reveals its refined and mature character, not at all youthful, but firm and seductive in just the right measure. The base is pure richness: labdanum and cedar form a warm, ambery, and slightly sweet background that embraces the skin in a more enveloping way. This dry-down is where Elixir shows its full potential, sophisticated, imposing, and with a luxurious finish. Performance is excellent, with longevity exceeding 10 hours, and projection is high for the first two hours and even a little longer, becoming more intimate afterward, but always perceptible. It's a perfume that leaves a trail and makes a statement. Ideal for evenings, dates, elegant dinners, social events, and moments when you want to convey power and self-confidence. It shines in cold weather, but can also be used in air-conditioned environments during the day if applied sparingly. Despite being a designer perfume, Boss Bottled Elixir impresses with its niche quality, both in its construction and ingredients. It's polished, dense, and balanced, without the synthetic air that often accompanies commercial perfumes. Final score: 9.5/10 A striking, elegant, and soulful perfume. A true example of how a classic line can reinvent itself masterfully.

Okay so I got this a while back probably late 2024, early 2025 and I liked it, but didn’t love it, leaving on my shelf and hardly wearing it. Now I’m realizing this fragrance is something that you have to be patient with, or maybe it’s patient with you if that makes sense. The fragrance hasn’t changed much as in macerating or anything, that’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying this fragrance waits for you to change for it. This is a patient fragrance. It takes time to appreciate. This fragrance is like an old friend that you got in an argument with a while back, and haven’t talked to them in ages. Then, when you finally realize you were in the wrong, the friend is gracious and unchanging, he was simply waiting on your return. He didn’t care about the mistake you made, but rather he was waiting for you to realize you had made a mistake and come back to enjoy time together once again. As for the actual fragrance, it’s such a non-designer designer fragrance, it smells niche. It doesn’t follow the cookie cutter mold of usual designers, trying to be liked by a mass majority. That’s not to say people won’t like you wearing it, it’s just not a simple freshy/vanilla scent. It smells like a Christmas tree in a giant cathedral where it’s warm and cozy inside, a safe haven from the cold winter outside. This smells like the distant, foggy childhood memory of Christmas at your grandma’s house. It is not the sweet gourmand you would expect from that depiction, but rather the scent of the fragrance is the scent of childhood fall/winter memories itself. I wish I could put this into words. If you know what I mean, you know what I mean. Dark, distant, warm, almost like the fragrance is the very essence of replaying distant Christmas time memories, which get foggier every year. This is a near masterpiece in my book.

This is one I had to blind buy and after ordering I randomly found it at Macy's to test. It definitely smells different on a test strip . On the test strip to me it was more smokey incense and slightly fresh. Once I got it it was different. It's good. It smells like a niche fragrance. On the skin in the opening it's more warm spiced you get plenty of frankincense cardamom labdanum and patchouli. I hate patchouli but it's not a pungent star of the show patchouli. As the warm spices continued to develop I was afraid that it was going to start leaning Christmas candle. It thankfully does not. It mellows that out and the labdanum and cedar come forward. None of the notes explode but they all melt together nicely that it creates a super masculine, incense, oriental amber. It's not similar to Sauvage elixir but you do catch where they kinda meet. Also on skin when your body warms up I find that the labdanum gets stronger. I really do like this. It's different. This is not blind buy safe . This is for someone that is really into fragrances This isn't something to wear to the gym or to run a quick errand in comfy clothes or even just casual . Performance, this will make you go nose blind. It's not crazy beast mode as I expected but it's still pretty strong . For a regular wear 4 sprays is fine. 2 on neck 2 on shirt. I got a good 8 hours. For work I sprayed it twice on my shirt. That was good for 2 hours projecting and 3 more close. I really like this. It's niche quality for about $80. It will stand out in a sea of blue fragrances and Baccarats . Super masculine yet smooth . The one thing I would have liked is if they added an apple note. Slightly more depth and to tie it into the og boss Bottled. I give this an 8/10

I spent a week in Mexico City. As I was touring around and enjoying all the city had to offer I kept running into this really unique sent. It would stop me in my tracks and I would immediately look around trying to figure out which person in the crowd was wearing it. I smelled it in museums. I smelled it on the corner taco stand. I smelled it in five star Michelin restaurants. It was clearly very popular in Mexico City and I absolutely loved it. I had no idea what it was until a few weeks ago. I’ve had boss fragrances in the past and they were never really high-quality or impressive. On a whim I sampled this bottle at a Macy’s counter. I was instantly taken back to my Mexico City trip. It took all my willpower not to overpay for the bottle right on the spot. I did not hesitate to find it on Joma. The scent is very unique and strong. It projects very well for 4 to 5 hours. As I sit here writing this review I can still smell it on my skin 16 hours later. If you don’t mind your scent standing out and projecting into a room this is definitely one to check out. If you prefer a more intimate and close scent that is not intrusive into other people’s space, this is probably a pass for you. I have been wearing it this summer and have received plenty of compliments. I’m in Southern California and have only smelled it on one other person. I was at a beach bonfire last night and the gentle sea breeze was casting this beauty across the fire and turning heads. Stay spicy out there!

I own both Boss Bottled Elixir and Boss Bottled Absolu, and for me Elixir is the clear winner. I honestly don’t understand why people consider Absolu more versatile than Elixir — to me, that’s far from the truth. Elixir’s opening can feel quite strong when the bottle is new, but once it’s had time to macerate it develops into something far more elegant, unique, and playful, while still carrying that classic Boss DNA. In fact, after carefully observing it over time, I’d say it only gets better and more sophisticated the longer it macerates. On top of that, Elixir has this amazing bubblegum-like vibe while still being unapologetically masculine — and honestly, no one else is doing it like that. The performance is beastly yet refined, which makes it incredibly versatile in my eyes. Absolu does open beautifully — smooth, niche-quality, and inviting — but very quickly it turns into a smoky, Arabian oud-style fragrance. That shift really put me off, and I even found it leaning slightly feminine, which was disappointing. And there’s a reason why many female reviewers appreciate Absolu: it’s because it’s the kind of scent they could see themselves wearing. Elixir, on the other hand, is masculine, mysterious, and consistently enjoyable. Only a real man would wear Elixir — and if I had to choose, it’s the only one I’d ever repurchase.
