Boss Bottled Oud Aromatic

Years ago, for a time, I lived next to one of the walls of St. Joseph's Cemetery No. 1, on Washington Ave. in New Orleans. This fragrance smells like the odor of decaying white and yellow flowers that used to perfume my back steps in those days mixed with the damp earth and woods found in my yard. I agree with papparog's fine review below that notes that this scent smells "weird, but I like it." I am going to struggle to find occasions to wear this scent, but I will find some, if only for reminiscence sake. When I first got my bottle (FragranceBuy.ca, 2017 batch code) as part of my final purchase of 2021 (self-imposed 3 months of no fragrance purchases began 1/1/22), I thought this stuff absolutely dreadful. But then I gave the bottle a brisk shake and tried it again. That's when I got the floral, earth and woods experience. I have experienced before (with Le Labo's Oud 27, for example) that an aromachemical used to mimic oud has a tendency to separate out of some fragrance blends in which it is used if the bottle is allowed to sit for a very long time. Whatever this chemical is, it tends to pool on the bottom of bottles near the atomizer intake. When sprayed, this scent is rubbery, industrial, headache-inducing and almost nauseating. That smell was all I got when I first sprayed this fragrance after my bottle arrived. Before dropping the full bottle into the bin, however, I recalled the smell I was being tormented by and also that a brisk shake had seemed to re-blend and resuce my bottle of Oud 27 when it gave off the same wretched smell. So I shook my Boss Bottled Oud Aromatic and, like magic, the white florals emerged in the top notes. Next came a heart featuring a myrhh accord, which somehow worked with the white floral notes to create the "cemetery" scent mentioned before. The base brought an oud-ish scent which was just as odd as the top and the heart. Yet it all works in a vaguely unsettling, synthetic way. If this fragrance were not so difficult to find in retail settings outside of the Middle East market, where it was targeted, I would just urge interested folks to try before buying. But in most of the world, that's going to be terribly difficult. How did this extraordinarily strange compound get approved for release by a major house like Hugo Boss? I have no idea, but I tell you what, this stuff smells weird, but ultimately, I like it. If you are sufficiently adventurous in your scent collecting that you decide to follow me in a blind buy of this odd little fragrance, trust me, shake any brand new bottle before your first spray. Then prepare for a most interesting and unusual olfactory experience. Not recommended, exactly, but not 'not' recommended either. Only lovers of the off-beat need bother. But if you can find it at a good price, and if you can relate to the "it's weird, but I like it" idea, this one is worth a try.

This is a super fascinating and familiar smell. I get what I associate with white florals (The Dreamer, Reflection Man) but with a resinous belly that reminds me heavily of a college dorm room with tie-dyed sheets hanging on the walls. More new aged hippy incense than that dirty patchouli of the 70s (that, you know, I wasn't alive to smell). This is probably the myrrh. But I'm not sure. Maybe it's the combination of myrrh with the florals. Either way, what I get is like the highest quality version of The Dreamer you could possibly find and the differences (which are truly vast) come via the intensity and quality of the notes. The blending of the myrrh/white flowers gives off that aldehydic, clean sheets vibe you get from the Dreamer (but, again, not at all). It is not the Dreamer, but it makes me dream. There's not too much dirty about this scent (maybe the resinous, stickiness floating through the base). It is way more beautiful than I anticipated. Some of the reviews below indicated an animal facet. I do not get that at all. And the longevity so far - not as beastly as promise (or my skin is just sucking this stuff up... perhaps muting some of the more dirty facets). This is 100% a hidden gem. Just left of the clean you get from the fragrances I mentioned above, but its own thing. It has a place beside these other fragrances, not instead of. A mini-masterpiece if I do say so myself. Get your nose on this.

Honestly i don't understand what's going on with boss. It's actually very very hard to produce bad perfumes with all the ingredients out there and all the talented perfumers ready to work, especially if you have resources! In over 10 years, i haven't found a boss perfume that is good, they either smell cheap like the Lacoste ones, or smell okay with terrible longevity. Is this intentional? is it the problem of the executives who all have bad taste? I don't even think they make good sales to justify what they're doing! Anyway back to this one, it's the best i've tried of boss in a very very long time, the dark olive green bottle caught my attention honestly, that's the only reason i've tried it. Again smells really nice and uniqe in the beginning and bad/generic in the dry down.

wow, wow wow. white flowers to go go. transports you to a mysterious cemetery. it's incredible. in reality the oud is in the background here. the myrrh is there but guys this is a mysterious floral scent. to the limit of the dark and I repeat of the cemetery what a masterpiece. undoubtedly reminds fathom v of beaufort. but stronger and more soapy. the soap feels perhaps going forward with time. but this is an absolute masterpiece with incredible performances. I'm speechless. 10/10 perhaps some citrus fruits are hidden, perhaps a drop of civet. it's amazing what a fantastic mix that goes from fleur du male, touches fathom v, kouros and castile. here is a mix of all that. Well if this isn't a masterpiece? I don't know what it can be. only applause!

This one was love at first smell. I got a whiff pulling it out of the box and had to take a few more sniffs. Very sweet and floral with the myrrh and oud taking a backseat. It's a very heavy, powerful scent. Almost straddles the line of being obnoxious, but its balanced well enough to not cross that line. I want to say it smells like an orange pound cake, but that wouldn't do it justice. I imagine this wouldn't be for everyone, but if you enjoy frankincense and rich florals, this is definitely worth checking out. Performance is good, especially for a Boss fragrance. It last around 10 hours for me, and it projects very well. I'd say this would do better in cooler weather. This one is by far my favorite out of the Boss oud line.

Boss Aromatic is indeed a very pleasant smelling fragrance. I already have Boss Oud & Oud Saffron in my collection and naturally wanted to add this one. Oud and Oud Saffron are excellent in their own right and there is very little difference in the three of them, but you can spot the differences. Just like the other two I really love Oud Aromatic. Just two blasts of this stuff and you are looking at 10hrs plus, with the Silage being very good too. A 9 out of 10 for its all round quality and performance for me and a must have for all true fragrance lovers👌👍❤️!

This is the strongest boss perfume I have ever encountered. I have fleur du male both la colonia transparent bottle and the full white opaque bottle (one of my all time favs) and this doesn’t even slightly resemble those two. It’s just the floral orange blossom note that’s common in them but I believe is composed extremely differently. This has that damp earthy feel to it which I must say is very unique along side faint touches of the boss bottled oud. In my book this is a complete 10

UPDATE: I let it sit for a few days. It's a lot thicker but still beautiful. More beastly. Sticky. Less 90s hippy incense stick (it's there but in the background). The Dreamer has also faded into the background (I can find it, but I know to look for it now). Where I was doing 5+ sprays the day it arrived, now I'm down to 3 (with an extra two a few hours in). Good, unique stuff. Nothing else like it in my collection.

Just got this as a blind buy. I own a bottle of Fleur Du Male and agree that this feels a lot different in smell. Yes it has an orange blossom but here it feels like it is mixed with mimosa and maybe a bit of tuberose. Definitely smells closer to Gucci Guilty Elixir than FdM. So far very interesting and intriguing - I will update after a few wearings.

A perfect early spring scent for 30+ guys. Never expected that Boss would make such a nice combo with orange blossoms and myrrh. (I can smell oud too but just for a bit in drydown) And good value too. Easily one of my favourites.

For long time i was in search of a fragrance similar to the beautiful Fleur De Male JPG cz FDM was very weak this one is flowers garden putting on you with a long lasting performance it was for 12 hours.

classic orange blossom fragrance. it got that signature orange blossom smells with a myrh undertone. couldnt notice the oud, should be called incense aromatic sice the oud is barely noticeable

This, this is one strange bastard of a perfume. I've owned Boss Bottled Oud which I liked well enough for what it was and got several compliments on..but this..I can't describe except I can't detect any Oud. What I do get is white florals, decaying white florals. I worked as a caretaker at a Veterans National Cemetery for a few years and every week we had to collect flowers off the graves to mow. The smell of decaying White florals mixed with damp, dank earth is what came rushing back into my mind when I smelled this...and ya know what? I bought it. Why? So I can say I own the weirdest damn white floral fragrance known to man. All that said I like it, every single person that smells it has the same response. "Dude...what is that you're wearing"? 'It's weird but I like it." It's definitely one that keeps you coming back to your wrist to re-smell it and figure it out. It is a fragrance DNA that is new and unique. Not exemplary but solid for the price point and to have something unique in your collection.

Hugo Boss, Boss Bottled Oud Aromatic was first released in 2019 but is still seemingly difficult to find. It has a relatively simple note breakdown of orange blossom, myrrh, and oud, which feels pretty spot-on. It’s fresh and resinous and even slightly sweet with something in the oud that vaguely hints at a dirty, animalic side, but mostly a clean oud ala Oud Wood. It feels fairly well rounded among its varying contrasting points, but just feels a tad incomplete to me, full of plenty but missing something While I cannot find it in stock anywhere, it is for sale via FragranceBuy.CA for $90 for 100ml. It’s a decent fragrance but a bit overpriced for what it is; that is, it’s neither especially imaginative and artistic nor wholly well-rounded enough for everyday wear. Still, I expect that a lot of people will like this since it feels right at the intersection of a few different genres. 7 out of 10

I was impressed with this. It’s a synthetic, distinctly designer affair with a heavy emphasis on a resinous, woody accord or group of accords that I’m going to call Oud. You get the waxy orange flower which is balanced well against the generally darker hue, and this effect is lasting into the drydown. I then get a softer more rounded vanilla touch to this to finish off... I was initially wowed by this and saffron but as they settled actually started to annoy me a little before redeeming themselves. They are loud, brash and unapologetic but warm and oriental in keeping with the BOSS Bottled line in that regard. I think I need to spend more time with both (and revisit the original Oud) to make sense of what is happening here?

Whoever directs Hugo Boss fragrances must not care about fitting in at all. This is somehow both very strong in smell and reserved in sillage. These three notes combined to make something unbelievably sweet. I feel almost sticky wearing this, like I’m covered in a honey that’s been aged like whiskey. This defies every convention in designer perfumery and is as simple as it is strange.

This is a very interesting citrus floral start that turns into a spicy almost tea like myrrh scent. A very pleasing dry down that lasts about 7 to 8 hours on my skin. It is unique to my current collection and find this will be fantastic in the spring or fall, day or night. At the right price, this is a good quality juice. A Try Before You Buy! Enjoy!

It reminds me of 1million. Only just got a bottle so have to wait for winter too wear it properly but really liked it when having a little spray too discover the fragrance. Looking forward too wearing it properly and will try and remember to update this. Definitely glad I got it. Just need the normal oud version. Will get that soon

The name of the fragrance & the colour scheme are misleading. The scent comes across more like a "dark orange" and the name would fit more if it was "Boss Bottled Oud Incense". Definitely a niche-smell in a designer bottle. Exotic & deep smelling. I get 2 main layers to this: one layer is this incense funk that I'm assuming the myrhh and oud are responsible for. It reminds me of that exotic incense-like funk you get in the beginning stages of Timbuktu and in the background of Meharees. Except here, it's the star instead of a supporting part. The other layer is a fresh sweetness that is also soapy which I presume the orange blossom is responsible for. The issue with this layer is that it gets overpowered by the mysterious & funky incense-like smell. I acknowledge that some may interpret this funk to be like decaying flowers which fits the "white floral" descriptor. Although niche in scent profile, it's not a well-rounded scent. Meaning it's not all that versatile. For me, it conjures up images of Middle Eastern, South Asian and perhaps some African culture - it's too exotic to make sense wearing it to the office in bland office wear - this scent doesn't suit the North American market all that well, to be honest - maybe that's why it's hard to find here. To put it another way, if I was going to a function that was focused on any of the 3 aforementioned cultures, this scent would fit right in - also if I was travelling to any of those regions in the world, this scent is perfect on a daily basis. But for regular day-to-day life in a North American city, the scent profile is too jarring & out of place in that it strongly references foreign territory. I do like it personally but I don't see myself getting through a full 100ml bottle, which is the only size it comes in. 7.5/10 YT channel - The Scentrovert

Quite strong so go easy on the sprays. The performance is gigantic. It reminds me of horse stables (in a good way) and sometimes I smooth its intensity with a bit of a floral fragrance on the top. Definitely l don’t recommend a blind purchase here.

Came across this Oud Saffron and Aromatics today, I was curious to try. So sorry I did . Both have assaulted my senses with a sickly chemical odour that persists despite being washed off. As an Oud lover, I've got to ask, when you call a perfume Oud XXXX, surely some semblance of Oud either natural or synthetic should be present!. I can get absolutely none at any stage of the dry down. Disappointing given its €105 price tag.

Maybe it’s the batch I got but I had high hopes for this one. I must say I was bitterly disappointed ☹️ It is aromatic but the oud is non- existent. I was hoping this fragrance would open the door for me to the Oud style of fragrance. The orange blossom + myrrh is nice though 🤷🏾♂️

I like Hugo boss perfumes, but this one NO I didn't like it. The original Oud bottled 2010 was much much better than this.

Hugo Boss Bottled Oud Aromatic - Very intense, wiht the Hugo Boss Bottled Oud Saffron the worst scent for me. You will have a headache from this two. They are very similar. I don't know why people love it. Scent: 1/10 Longevity: 8/10 Sillage: 7/10 Bottle: 4/10 Value for money: 3/10

The first word that pops into mind when I smell this is weird. This is definitely a weird smell. Not a typical people pleasing designer scent. This is definitely artistic. I will have to give this a few wearings before I make up my mind. It has a sickly sweet thing that is so strange lol. A must try definitely not a blind buy. I fully expect this to be discontinued in the near future. Alright, I finally wore this fragrantic abortion. I hate it. It makes me sad that the likes of prada l'homme intense and valentino uomo intense get the axe while a this stillbirth gets to go on living. I don't even think I want to re-home this as I would be inflicting my blind buy fail upon someone I care about. I might leave it somewhere for a stranger to find. Like a landmine that's full of shit instead of explosives.

Got this man today. After 2 sprays on my both hands, almost 7 hours passed I can still notice the scent of “Myyhr”. The first 10-30 minutes you’ll get the smell of orange blossom + myyhr, after that you’ll get only myyhr, the main player. Even I’ve not noticed oud scent but this man is really cool, quite unique and cannot be used everyday. Scent 8/10 Longevity 8/10 Projection 8/10 (very strong in first 2 hours) Sillage 7/10 Price —— I got this really cheap.

Very interesting fragrance. I owned JPG Fleur du Male many years ago and I was dumb to give it away, based off my memory this is very close. At least in the opening as I have just tested Oud Aromatic will update later on. But this is unique and it won’t cater to everyone. To me a scent profile like this is rather sexy. Very flowery in a masculine way. Also kinda reminds me of bedsheets after the business if you get what I’m saying. Will update

I carry this potent stuff everyday, wherever I go. I highly recommended this as a weapon to ward off thief, mean colleague and annoying neighbor. I would suggest 3 spritzes to make them go away. 4 or 5 spritzes if you need to perform exorcism. But as a perfume, the scent is unique. A hard to describe strong sweet chemical scent. 1 tiny spritz on your skin is all you need if you want to enjoy this scent.

I was in a perfume shop doing some sampling. At first this was my least favourite of all the perfumes I'd sprayed, in fact I recoiled when I first smelt it. Half an hour later this was the stand out fragrance! To me the oud comes of as a leather similar to Fendi extreme pairs with the white florals of Jean Paul Gaultier Fluer du male. I went back and purchased the fragrance

This stuff is powerful. Too strong. Smells like regret and Susan B Anthony’s vanity from the 1800s. Pewww. Maybe I’m not wearing it right. But Definitely not my vibe. Check out my fragram I have Boss oud and Joop Homme in Mortal Kombat. Fight ! Joop Homme is scared of this stuff. Finish him

Tried this and oud saffron didn't like either really nor any good at all dislike the fragrance of both far better oud combinations around. Save your money definitely not a blind buy. On the plus side both fragrances last a good 8 hours and keep projecting nicely.

Smells more like leather frag than oud. In that way it's aromatic. My use case, as park jogger in premo Puma. Green gas with noticable orange floral. The Rocky steps ace.

smells nice and everything but, who the heck decided to call it "Oud Aromatic" and where is the aromatic note in this coming from?
