The Scent Absolute may not get as much hype as its brothers Private Accord and Magnetic, but it still gets some fair mention in the community. Having already given positive reviews to both of those, I figured it was time to pick up Absolute while I can still get it for a good price and give it a fair review. Will it win my heart like Private Accord and Magnetic? Let's get into it and find out; Scent: Opening is warm spicy, fruity, and earthy. There's only three notes in the official breakdown; Ginger, Maninka Fruit, and Vetiver, and I can pick out all of them easily. The strongest off the top are the ginger and maninka fruit. The ginger is aromatic with bright and spicy nuances, while the maninka fruit has that signature unique fruitiness that "The Scent" line is known for. It's dark, sweet, and has a chocolatey vibe to it. Some liken it to the smell of chocolate-dipped strawberries, and that's pretty accurate in my opinion. This is followed by the vetiver for an earthy and woody foundation, emphasis on the earthy. The dry down is warm spicy, sweet, and woody. The strongest of the notes in the dry down are the maninka fruit and vetiver. The maninka fruit note has become less fruity and more of a deep sweetness. Whereas in the opening the "chocolate-dipped strawberry" accord is mostly strawberry and some chocolate, in the dry down it's mostly chocolate and some strawberry. The vetiver is more noticeable and like the maninka has also swapped profiles. In the opening the vetiver is earth dominant and woodsy supporting, but in the dry down it is woods dominant and earthy supporting. Finally the ginger lingers in the background for hints of the aromatic spiciness from the opening. Performance: Initial projection is strong at around 6 feet. Sillage is strong as well with an easily noticeable scent trail. After a few hours the projection was right around arms length and the scent trail was still noticeable. At around the 7 hour mark the projection was light but still right around arms length. The sillage was still barely there with a faintly noticeable scent trail. At around the 10 hour mark the projection and sillage were unchanged. The fragrance lasted about 11-12 hours before becoming a skin scent entirely. When to wear: This is a fall/winter scent most suited for evening wear. This would work great as a date night fragrance. I would shy away from this for office or formal settings. Blind buy: If you like how "The Scent" DNA smells, or you like sweet and woody fragrances in general, this is a safe blind buy for you. Final verdict: The short answer is yes, I enjoy Absolute just as much as Private Accord and Magnetic. To me, Absolute is like Private Accord but dialed back on the chocolate accords. The chocolatey nuance from the maninka fruit is still there in Absolute, it's just not punching you in the face like it does with Private Accord. Magnetic on the other hand really does it own thing with the vanilla and bran notes, so it's hard to compare the scent profile of the two on a level playing field. When it comes to performance they all do pretty well, but Magnetic and Absolute do outperform Private Accord by a few hours. What it really comes down to is this; if you like strong vanilla, go with Magnetic. If you want a sweet and balanced experience, go with Absolute. If you love chocolatey gourmands, go with Private Accord. All things considered, my ranking is Magnetic in first place, Absolute in second, and Private Accord in third. That being said, you really can't go wrong with any of them. They will all smell great and get you positive attention. Scent: 9/10 Longevity: 8/10 Sillage: 6/10

Between the sour-sweet qualities of the maninka fruit and the amberwood & spice laden heart, The Scent Absolute strikes a pleasant and well-blended combination of notes great for the fall. The brisk, bright and fresh opening is followed by a sour, slightly exotic, and dusty fruity note (listed as maninka) reminiscent of overripe apples. This fruity accord is quite inviting and is accompanied by a chocolate touch that adds nice depth to the blend. This is interspersed by strong spicy (mainly cinammon) and woody (mainly amberwood) undertones that become progressively more pronounced. Finally, the base of the fragrance is mostly inhabited by a powdery tonka with some spices. I did not detect any vetiver despite what is listed in the official note breakdown. Longevity is slightly above average at 7 to 8 hours, and you can expect a solid 1.5 to 2 hours of projection. The structure of this fragrance comes across as very modern and should suit men of any age. I easily see this one becoming a signature "dumb reach" for the fall season. This is awesome. Actually, if I'm being honest, the entire 'Boss The Scent' line is fantastic. All great performers, all great value for the dollar. These are all extremely good performers, with exceptional projection and sillage, and ALL of them last a long time on skin. To say otherwise, is complete nonsense. I don't believe you. I own now 4 of them, and they are ALL incredible. This offering, the Absolute, shares its underpinnings with the rest of the line (as most flankers tend to do) but it is still unique enough that it isn't redundant if you like the line. This one is maybe the most mature of the bunch, with Elixir a close second, but I really like them all. The ginger/maninka combo here is just a fantastic mix. I guess If you don't like one of them, you won't like any. And that's fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. EVERY fragrance review on this site, including this one, is SUBJECTIVE. It is my opinion. But, if you like strong, sweet, spicy, above-average performing fragrances that are still squarely on the masculine side of the sweetness scale, and get favorable reactions from people, these are all great options. And the prices are good on discounters, too.

The first spray is a somewhat confusing mix of alcohol and women's vanilla shower gel. However, this only lasts for 30 seconds or so. It quickly morphs into a warm, chocolaty scent, which reflects the sweet maninka and woody vetiver. Some of the ratings on this sight confuse me though: while this definitely leans masculine, the sweet, warm, chocolaty combination could definitely be considered feminine. It's definitely nice scent and it has a simple, effortless warm, chocolaty spice that I don't find in a lot of designer scents. I agree with other reviews and I think this compares well with 1 Million and Pure XS from Paco Rabbane, as well as many other masculine sweet/gourmand scents that use warm spice. As it dries down, I find that the warm spice comes out even stronger - much stronger than I had expected - and definitely starts to lean more towards masculine. I would say this is a generally wearable scent, but I think the thickness of the sweet/warm spice would be a bit to powerful in a confined space. Altogether, I'm pretty impressed with this scent. It's not really my style, but I give it an 8.5/10 as it's really nice.

If you've tried The Scent/Intense/Private Accord and thought: nup, there is not enough Maninka! in this juice... Well, The Scent Absolute is the perfume for you. This EdP opens with some fresh spiciness which is almost immediately overtaken by an exotic, intoxicating smell of sweetness. This sweetness is certainly unique, unlike anything I've experienced previously. At once floral and fruity, this is a much more powerful and dense sweetness than the usual tonka/vanilla. This sweetness thoroughly dominates the scent from start to finish. More and more, I am drawn to this sweetness - it is sensual...sexy, even. Is there some vetiver at the bottom of this scent? Or Mondia root in the heart? Maybe! Though aspects of these notes only serve the Maninka sweetness. This perfume projects fairly well and lasts quite some hours. Very seductive - this is a perfume for intimate times with your chosen companion. Could work well on women too. This is the SuperSaiyan of maninka scents. The scent to wear if you need more maninka in your life. Do not purchase if you dislike sweet perfume. Definitely do not blind buy this like I did!

My goodness, I love this scent! I did a blind buy after watching several popular YouTube fragrance reviews & I’m so happy that I took that leap of faith! This is unlike any fragrance in my 100+ fragrance collection. That’s a hard statement to make as everything that’s being put out nowadays smell practically the same. What this has to offer is uniqueness, versatility and a wow factor! I think the only time I probably wouldn’t wear this is in the summer. It’s winter now in Australia so I haven’t had the opportunity to test that theory yet. I’m definitely eager to find out. I love this so much that after receiving this in the mail & having my first go, I immediately purchased a backup bottle, it’s that good & I’m always fearful of a reformulation or it being discontinued. 😱 Absolute ticks all the boxes; Longevity 8-10+ hrs ✅ Projection 3+ hrs it pushes strongly out about a metre then it’s dialed in to create an arms length mesmerising scent bubble. ✅ Sillage is also great. Those around you will want to invade your personal space. ✅ 10/10 👍🏽👍🏽

That’s a surprise! Basically a dark Maninka, almost chocolate‐leaning, and soooo good. It’s deeper than the original and not as sweet — perfectly moderate, far from juvenile or generic. I can almost say it’s my favorite from the line, definitely the most wearable of the ones I have. Magnetic has that wonderful dark vanilla with that cereal/oatmeal‐cream vibe. It’s rich but a little linear, more mass‐appealing, with that darker fruity almost‐gourmand feeling like Mercedes‐Benz Club Black. But for me it’s a sexy night fragrance — more limited to occasions like a dinner, a VIP bar, that kind of vibe. Elixir is richer and denser, more of a clubber, but still mature and complex. It almost feels niche because it changes a lot during the transitions — very layered, very addictive in the drydown. Absolute, on the other hand, is something I can see myself wearing anytime — work, casual daytime, even as a signature fragrance.

just saying, this fragrance has been in my collection since I was 16. Not because I didn't use it or anything, it's just that good. I think it's my 4th or 5th Bottle so far, with a backup chilling in the sidelines. The best Hugo Boss scent up to date. I'm happy that people say Private Accord is better than this, as it allows the fragrance to be slept on by many people, which makes it quite a unique scent. The Private Accord smells like a mess, of a fragrance, where's as this blended correctly. The price as well is amazing, £45 for 100 ml year-round, you can never go wrong. It smells amazing, spicy chocolatey gingery smell, and projects well (all the people complaining about performance must have got a watered-down version because it always lasts 8 hours +). Ladies love this, always letting me know how edible I taste, lmao. The day this gets the axe is going to be a sad day. 9/10

It is amazing on my skin. On paper it resembled The Scent and Private Accord. On skin it's a lot richer, it is dark, mysterious, it has an alluring sweet depth... My God I just love this. I have and love Private Accord, but this is even better. It has the original DNA, but darker, sweeter. Beautiful blended fragrance. The opening is beautiful, but after 10 minutes it becomes amazing. After one hour it changes again. I get a dark honey vibe, just gorgeous. I put this on the paper and I was like, ok, another The Scent flanker, but on skin is just incredible. This also happened with my skin with Nuit D'Issey Parfum. On paper so generic and boring, on my skin it smells darker with smoke and incense appearing out of nowhere, it seems. Probably my skin chemistry. Stop the flaming before you smell this on skin. You might just be amazed. This is the best in the line, by far.

I'm a fan of the entire The Scent line from Hugo Boss. Very distinctive thanks to the Maninka note and very different from all the Ambroxan/Vanilla that's so popular these days. It's hard to say, and I'm not sure, but this one is probably my favorite. ...along with Intense and Private Accord. It doesn't really matter; it has a unique profile and is sweet in its own unique way, yet it's not sweet either, so different. - Ik ben fan van de hele The Scent lijn van Hugo Boss. Heel eigen door de Maninka noot en heel anders dan alle AmbroxanVanille waar tegenwoordig massaal naar wordt gegrepen. Moeilijk te zeggen en met twijfel, maar waarschijnlijk is deze dan toch mijn favoriet. ... samen met Intense en Private Accord. Maakt eigenlijk niet uit, uniek profiel en zoet op een heel eigen wijze, die toch ook niet zoet is, zo anders.

If you like sweet fragrances, buy it. It is such a safe blind buy. It's kinda in the SWY intensely/absolut range, but it's not very similar. It has moderate to high sillage, so it's probably not something that you want to wear in a crowded room or a gym. It is 8/10 on the sweet scale. It is relatively cheap, and kinda underrated. It's also very simple with only 3 notes. Its a good replacement if you can't buy JPG fragrances. The sprayer is pretty good, but not the best (as you could expect for the price). It is NOT and I mean NOT a summer fragrance, you will choke to death of you wear it in summer, but it's good for winter. The smell is just... Mmmmmmm, yummy. It's a 8/10 overall. I don't understand why this perfume is so underrated.

I see a lot of people complaining about performance, but off my skin this has some of the longest lasting silage of anything in my collection. 2 sprays on the front of my neck and one on the back gives me 7+ hours of outstanding performance. As for the scent it’s definitely a more refined version of the original. It isn’t as spicy sweet as the scent intense or gourmand as private accord, it kind of goes off in its own direction and becomes slightly dry and aromatic as it dries down. The slightly earthy vetiver and the dry yet sweet maninka fruit blend to make an incredible scent. 9/10 in my books and my favorite in the line, dethroning the scent intense which was one of my staple scents in middle and high school

This fragrance is very lovely! For me, as a woman, I prefer this one compared to YSL Libre Absolu, which is very sweet compared to this. But somehow that one feels more masculine to me anyway, however that makes sense... they are both lovely fragrances, but I think I would choose this. Then, maybe I would end up giving it to my man, after all... whenever he is coming along. And when I would like some extra feminine sweetness, I have another favourite in the oriental spicy line, but light like a cloud of whipped cream. (JPG Classic edp Pin Up, that is.) These three are in some way in the same line for me, and I just have to choose my favourite. Or I will have two.

This fragrence is extremely overlooked and underrated.This is an awesome autumnal scent it has uniqueness due to that manika fruit which gives of a strangely dusty boozy accord. Which sparkles with the ginger joining it which creates a fresh beautifully spicy aroma.This is joined in the dry down by the earthiness of the vetiver which tempers these sweeter aspects ensuring this isn't completely juvenile. Really happy to have this in my collection now its been discontinued.All factors considered I'd give this a strong 8 out of 10 I'd have loved to see a flanker with this DNA and deeper woods.

My first Boss scent, some people say that it's already discontinued, but it always pops up on Notion with discounts and i've recently got a 100 ml tester for 32$ in local store and for that price its insane - bright fruity opening, very unique maninka smell, and at the same time i can't say its overly sweet, for my nose i got some "chocolaty" vibe, people around will love this smell! Best seasons to wear - fall and winter, blind buy safe, great addition to my collection!

I like it. It's very masculine. It's great that all the flankers in 'the scent' line have the same 'spine' Absolute is a spicy one from the bunch. I can smell vetiver and a bit of incense. Very elegant warm scent . I think it is quite underrated. It is eau de parfum concentration which is great I bought a 50ml bottle in February 2023 for £23 with one of big UK discounters. I love this - on myself as a woman. On a man, sure it will be lovely, but on my feminine skin, this lovely dark scent becomes something else! I should have bought this one instead of YSL Libre Intense, which I really regret - that one is much more masculine to me, and too strong!! This one I think is the perfect example of a fragrance being more masculine on the right man, and more feminine on the right woman. Me.

Delicious Maninka 😍 fresh yet dusty fragrance with a rich smell. Only for cool days, all year around. Spray as much as you want, not nauseating. ✅ I've tried other frags from The Scent line, but this one is the best❤️ Longevity: spray on a tester, leave it in a closed room for a day. The notes, despite being simple, create an addictive and complex fragrance. The ginger introduces an spiced freshness, while maninka adds a fruity sweetness, and the vetiver grounds the scent with masculine depth. I also smell iris even tho it's not listed here, but I do get that lipstick smell from this. It is a sweet and refreshing scent that you can wear every single day. It's simple but unique.

Its a nice scent when opening the cap and smelling the inside it almost smells like chocolate but you don't get that chocolatey smell on skin but I can tell this would smell extremely nice in the cold winter morning to me I think the other perfumes on the line for example magnetic I smelled I think its the best but I got this one for only 50 on sale still good get it if its on sale

I understand how some say this is unique yet unremarkable at the same time...maybe that's the wonderful paradox of The Scent? It's the epitome of the sexy, warm, sweet and spicy masculine scent. I could see this becoming a signature scent for evenings and romantic occasions - something that will accentuate you, rather than stand out on its own, like Toy Boy or Spice Bomb.

Just picked up 100ml of this for £33, was a blind buy and was unsure because of some of the reviews on here, Worn it a few days/nights now and, my honest opinion is, 8/10 A warm sweet smelling fragrance, it does project very well, someone even said I can smell you from the other room, it is very strong, and lasts a good 10 hours on my skin. Even in summer it works .

This scent is a delight. I get roasted coffee and a bit of coconut. I don't know what maninka smells like but I assume the note I can't verbalize is that one and it smells quite lovely. It dries down into something sweet and a bit spicy and is quite a compliment-getter. Sillage is a couple of feet for a few hours and stays on skin for many more. I like it very much.

This is a really nice versatile wear for me. This scent is simple enough it won't offend, but it's unique enough to draw compliments. The maninka fruit comes off almost like baby powder, with a slight fruitiness to it. The vetiver on the bottoms is nice, and subtle. Not a beast when it comes to projection, but it works for the settings I wear it in.

One of the first designer scents i tried ever since i entered the fragrance collecting rabbit hole. I must say this has such an incredible autumn (fall) vibe it just works like magic in that season, it can work in the rest but to me its when the leaves turn yellowish and the weather is still slightly warm but you can sense some cold in air

Stumbled upon this at Ulta Beauty almost a year ago. Made myself a 10ml sample, and have worn this several times. Fresh from the Ginger - Warm from the Maninka (to my nose, it's a coffee/chocolate smell scent). This is fantastic. Would definitely consider buying a bottle when the price goes down a little more. EDIT: I did. Zero regrets.

Addictive and unique aroma. The maninka is fruity and starts off sweet but not for too long. In the mid, together with the mondia root, it smells like nothing else and very delectable. Dry, woody-smooth vetiver finish. Nice whiffs throughout its life. So far, the only Boss fragrance I truly love. Deserves more recognition imho.

It was a blind buy for me . Initially wanted to go for private accord but then thought it was too gourmandish .. it sits really well with not being too sweet or overpowering and its pretty linear throughout which is not a bad thing. The dry down reminds me of armani code profumo. Performance is nice as well. 8/10 overall.

This has been my most complimented fragrance over the past few months, and I don't even wear it more than maybe twice a week. For some reason people love how it smells. I like it a lot too. I haven't smelled Private Accord or others in The Scent line, but this one really is enjoyable and gets good reactions from people.

This was a very unique scent to add to my collection. It smells like nothing I own. That mininka fruit is so sweet and really projects well! I get compliments when wearing this. I was lucky to find a bottle because it’s discontinued and very hard to find. Excited to try magnetic next I just hope it’s not too redundant.

Tried it in a boutique and loved it. Will surely buy full bottle. I have edt which i dont dig much but it gives me compliments 🤷🏻. Thats why i wanted to buy second bottle but this one is better than edt for my nose. For performance, i will overspray as it isn't cloying. Overall 9/10 for me.

Personally, this has a good balance of sweet and spicy ginger. I had the original and I liked it to start with but it got to the point where I was finding it too spicy for my liking. I am loving the earthy vibe on this. Longevity and sillage is good. Perfect for the colder months.

This is the best perfume currently sold by Hugo Boss. Not sure that says much though. If you find gourmands a little too much usually but like the idea behind them, this is the scent [pun intended] for you. Its addictive, and you can grab it now at a bargain price. Top stuff.

What a LOVELY scent! Tested it at the mall side by side with Private Accord , went home and immediately ordered Absolute. And think about it , I chose 100ml over 200ml of Private Accord for virtually the same price. (54 vs 60)

First blast, wow i like it, dark earthy chocolate is what im getting. Two sprays 3 hours later and projection is rather good and longevity is very good too. Good scent a worthy flanker of the scent line for sure., .

I've got HB the scent Absolut this afternoon, one spray on my wrist and 9 hours later I still can smell it very beautiful scent, love it, will come back with more updates later after I give it a proper wearing.

Weak weak weak, maybe there's something wrong with the batch because many people tells that it is pretty strong. Still it has very nice and unique smell. Definitely find the scent dna.
