Deep Red

I had this around the time it came out but gave it to a friend, whom it suited perfectly at the time. I was more into florals like J'adore, Acqua di Gio and fruity scents like Ibiza Hippie :) I recently came back to this because a) it's still around and b) keeps popping up. Available for very reasonable prices I snatched up a bottle and am so happy that I did. Deep Red for sure has undergone some tweaks but the scent is still the same, at least to my memory. Sillage is not as strong as before but aside of that... Lasting power is moderate and on clothes it lingers for a long time. If you're spray happy that's not a problem with the current formulation. On me Deep Red is quite fruity and even invigorating in the opening, I definitely detect the citrus, pear and already a little spice from the middle notes. Speaking of those - the florals are indeed a teeny weeny bit muddled. Tuberose peaks out, the others I'd have to guess. But that's not necessarily a bad thing since - in my mind - they are only a supporting act. Deep Red really shines when it reaches the base and dry down (which it quickly does): A little citrus from the top, ginger and "flowery" note from the middle - added to the great sandalwood-musk-vanilla combo (I don't get much of the cedar). The scent is airy yet warm, a little fruity, a little flowery - as said. Very elegant without being heavy or obnoxious. Easy to wear, easy reach every day. Especially in Autumn and Winter! I think I was a year out of high school when I first tried this. It was newly released at the time. I remember not really liking it because I felt it smelled a little too mature for me, but also I was really into the typical fruity floral young adult type of scent. I ended up passing it along to my best friend. As I've gotten older though, I wanted to revisit the fragrances that I used to wear back in the day and this was one of them. A lot of the fragrances that I used to wear I'm sure have been reformulated. I had bought a bottle of this on one of those discount websites. I was so excited when I received my fragrance but not so excited once I sprayed it. It lacked the potency that the original formula had. It smelled incredibly watered down and like flat soda? I can still smell the DNA of the original, but it doesn't last long. It is still quite a sexy scent and I have not come across something that smells remotely even like this. I had bought givenchy l'interdit rouge and I can see the resemblance, but rouge is just a tad bit too bubblegummy for me. Way feminine as well. I think Deep Red can be pulled off by a confident man. I was able to find an older bottle on eBay for a pretty decent price. I can't really tell if it's the original formula, but the box looks very different from the ones that are sold now. Fingers crossed that it's the original formula! I might come back and edit this once I receive it.

I really love this one, it was a blind buy for me, reminded me of a relative and a trip to Europe so I bought it. It's a really hard scent to describe because everything is so well blended and bounces off one another so effortlessly. The deep richness comes from the creamy woody notes, it almost has that amber essence in the way that it all blends, but instead of fully going that direction you're transported to fresh, bright, sophisticated notes. I'm a huge hater of ginger, but the way it's used here is impeccable, the only thing you get from that note is a warm air of spice that's bold enough to be present but soft enough to be comforting and not cloying. Same with the florals in here, they're very much well there but they meld so nicely with everything else that they're comfortable being in there. The fruity notes sit there a little louder, but this isn't a traditional in your face kind of citrus. The brightness of those notes is there, but again not too strong as to overpower everything else. The name really is fitting, the color red evokes a certain kind of bright fruity scent, but the depth added to this really makes it something so special and very well done. This is the kind of going out scent I've been yearning for, where it's unique enough to be non generic but so well done that it feels so natural and inoffensive to anyone that smells you.

I have repurchased this perfume several times since 2008. I agree with the reviewers who state that this has been reformulated. I am more on the lighter side of scents, but this one has found a way to stay in my wardrobe. It is bolder than elegant, hence playful and spicy. I like how it converts those citrus fruits into something "deep" and rich. Sandalwood and vanilla make it slightly sweet and creamy, but not 100% edible. I don't understand why people express that this smells a lot like the 2000s in a derogatory way. I find it quite timeless (not dated at all) and compared to some current overly sweet cheapies out there (all the Cheirosas and Vanillas, no offense), this is way more complex and interesting. Back then, I thought it smelled niche (I still believe that among all the cheapies, this is amazing for its price). It opens quite "perfumy"( I don't appreciate that), but when worn in the right weather conditions (cold), it's very enjoyable. It also takes me back to a moment in my life when I had to move forward alone while being extremely young, wearing this made me feel strong and bold, like I could do anything to succeed. It is amazing how a scent can improve our mood!

I used to love this one back in 2009, the first time I got it (I received as a gift). It had excellent longevity and sillage and I usually received many compliments whenever I wore it. Unfortunately these days it is not what it used to be. The scent is the same, but now is so weak that, in my opinion, it doesn't worth it any more. It's a pitty that such a beautiful perfume lost its quality and strenght. This smells citrusy, sweet and fruity at the beggining and turn into a deeper vanilla, flowery but still sweet scent when it dries down. I find it very sexy and appealing. I'm about to finish my 4th bottle, but this time I won't repurchase it because it's became a bland, weak worthless perfume. Update: I gave it another chance: I just bought a new one recently....and I confirmed that it was, for sure, reformulated and watered down. It still does smell very nice, so beautiful and alluring, but it has such a poor sillage and it lasts on me no more than 2 hours. So sad....

When I was a young teen I wore ici by Coty. It was my first signature scent. In the early 2000s someone offered me a bottle of Deep Red because they didn't like it and it immediately became favourite. It is everything ici wanted to be. The scent is similar in my opinion but ici was cheap drugstore stuff and Deep Red is made in perfume heaven and it's not cheap. I have a bit of a scent obsession but Deep Red has been a must have for me for 15 years. Recently it's been harder for me to find so I panicked and ordered 3 90ml bottles online. No regrets. For me, it has the tangy start of citrus without smelling at all citrusy. It is a wonderful blend of sweet, fresh spicy which becomes soft and powdery. It has immense power in the winter, the colder the better. Deep Red is the kind of scent you can take in your purse and spritz on without overpowering anyone. It is perfection in a bottle.

Love, Love, Love this! At first spray, it smells nice and very enjoyable. After 20-30 minutes it deepens and becomes a dark, sultry, seductive temptress enticing her male counterpart to drop his clothes on the floor so she can seduce him and ... well, own his ass basically LOL. It evokes images of a wicked seductress and boy oh boy is she going to have her way with you! Projection and sillage are moderate. Longevity is a bit of a let down as by the 4 hour mark it sat very close to the skin. Price is worth it if you don't mind reapplying, especially if you love the scent like I do. I can absolutely see this as being a scent for someone a bit older because she's no spring chicken when it comes to dominating in the bedroom, but in saying that and as others have mentioned, this would fit very much with the goth scene so in that case could fit well with the younger ladies too.

Discovered Deep Red in my efforts trying to find a scent similar to the tragically discontinued Valentino V, which was a woody fig fragrance. This was compared to V Absolu, which was compared to V, so I thought- can't go wrong. Blind buy. And yes! It is certainly similar to how I remember V smelling. It's honestly a perfect scent; it has this intoxicating quality that makes you want to keep smelling it. Not too much of anything, notes are so well blended. This is *slept on* and I hope that Hugo Boss doesn't discontinue it. What an affordable gem! I genuinely feel like you could wear this anywhere in any season. Not many fragrances can boast this versatility. My only lamentation is that it doesn't seem to be a heavy hitter, but I kinda knew that going into the reviews. At this price I can afford to overspray. Will def need the 100 ml bottle!

I got my mom DEEP RED HUGO BOSS years ago at Macy's except they don't sell it at fine department stores anymore. I recently purchased her second bottle of DEEP RED online at a discounted price, and it was well worth it. It's a lovely fruity, floral💐and, wood type of fragrance, you can wear it to school, work, church, or brunch. This fragrance deserves more credit. I suggest buying the largest bottle you can find so it can last you for years. NOTE: Store all fragrances in a cool, dark, and, dry places (dresser drawer or dark closet) away from any light especially direct sun light. Direct sunlight/heat changes the molecular structure⚗️of the fragrance causing the oils to rancid or bad even if the sun/heat exposure is for a few minutes.

This is positively intoxicating to me. I can't stop sniffing myself while wearing it.Puts a damper on my social life ;) I first smelled this as a sample on a school trip to England in 2001, and I remember falling in love with it then, but as a student I just couldn't afford it. I stumbled across a cheap bottle a while ago, and scooped it up straight away. The only regret I have is not getting it much sooner. This perfume manages to be both sexy and fresh, cozy and exciting, young and sophisticated all at once. It's sweet but not cloying, citrusy but not sharp, rich but not offensive. Suitable for any occasion or season, really. One of my absolute favorite scents.

LOVE LOVE LOVE. i will never get bored of this scent. my mom wore this throughout my childhood and i was always so impressed by it. the black currant, ginger and blood orange creates an amazing blend. it's fruity but also very mysterious... very feminine without being overpowering. gives a very strong, independent women vibe, suitable for colder months. i recently bought her a brand new bottle of this from the airport duty free but sadly my mom has been telling me that the longevity and sillage of this new version is very weak :( nevertheless i still love and cherish this fragrance as it reminds me of my childhood and my mom. budget friendly nostalgic scent.

What a lovely, soft, warm, sensual and delicious scent! I smelled it recently on my mother and told her I may "steal it" from her, to which she replied "go on, I don't like it". Yay! It has almost every note I like: citrus, pear (or apple, I love Nina Ricci Nina), tuberose, freesia (new discovery), hibiscus, vanilla, sandalwood, cedar. If only it also contained oud and the vanilla note was proeminent, it would be perfection! Ginger is not really perceptible, which is a plus for me as it can be quite intense. I can't stand strong scents, so I LOVE that Deep Red is rather intimate, soft, yet sexy, not boring.

A beautifully warm spicy perfume that I do not need to think twice about when choosing it for the day. It's feminine, the citrus fruity notes are warm and unoffensive, the tuberose and ginger are soft, and the musk and sandalwood ties it all together to create a gorgeous, classic scent that would (or should) be a staple in any woman's fragrance collection. It's a go-to perfume for me if I'm in a rush and can't decide what I want to wear that day. The woody and warm citrus undertones mix amazingly well. It's absolutely intoxicating and sensual, a genuine crowd-pleaser, and I cannot recommend it enough.

Deep red was my original love. I was 16 and getting ready to go clubbing when my friend nicked a few sprays of her mums perfume before we left the house. Well oh my days! I fell in love instantly. Never before had I smelt such a seductive, intoxicating and smooth perfume. I too nicked a couple of sprays and felt confidence like I'd never felt before. I've worn it on and off for years. It doesn't seem to have the same strength, intrigue and lasting power any more, but 20 years on, neither do I. My clubbing days are over but there will always be a place in my heart for deep red ♥️

A beautiful easy reach scent. Orange, with jasmine-like tuberose, and a touch of smooth vanilla. Gorgeous. It is a very common scent, almost generic. I feel I've smelled it before even though I don't remember doing so. It's such an easy-going scent. Fresh, lovely, cute. I really like it. On a side note, Deep Red has an overt similarity with another Hugo Boss release: Boss In Motion for men. The same vanilla orange scent but Deep Red is much better. It is smoother, softer, and more feminine. It's the better scent overall. Good for day and warm weather. "Love"

heavy on the oriental smell, a tad sweet, unique but has a hint of a vintage vibe to it, completely not what I was expecting. thought it was going to be more fresh smelling. Sprayed on my hand and wrist and became a skin scent, 20 mins later, sprayed it on paper to test and same thing happened. After an hour on the paper the smell was completely gone. Quite disappointed, not that much of a bold fragrance to be honest, not as much as people hyped it to be. Smells a little jammy sweet like with vintage flowers in the back definitely not a summer scent.

My first "real" (aka grown-up)perfume, that I bought on a whim, and which didn't let me down at all. I love this perfume, as to me it's the epitome of soft, sultry, almost smoky, femininity. I'm usually not very fond of orange in perfumes, but in this case it works very well with the woodiness of the sandalwood, in my opinion the most prominent note in this fragrance. The musk softs it out a bit, and gives it some sexiness. Somewhere in the beginning (after about half an hour) I get a small whiff of tuberose. Still one of my favourites!

This is my Mom's favorite scent and the bottle is a fixture in her bathroom. She is very much in the realm of fruity florals and ended up here after going through bottles of Chloé Narcisse and White Diamonds. Deep Red is much more fruit-forward and bright, with a pinch of yellow flower in a coating of vanilla, with a crispy citrus and ginger top, reminiscent of other fun early-2000s fruity ozonics. The iconic bottle is also the perfect color. "Red" is the vibe. Truth be told, this now-vintage, light-hearted, dumb-reach, leans unisex.

Here for the elder millenial nostalgia too! Oh the adventures we had together! Unforgetably sampled first on a boat cruise across the Andriatic sea. I fell in love and wore for years and years after. The first iterations of Deep Red were heavier and way less citrucy. The ginger note here is the hardest working note, making the wearer irresistible. I recall heading to my first cinema & dinner dates in full confidence wearing my "big girl" perfume. It exuded a powerful statement, oh those poor teenager boys!

A juicy, luscious blend of citrus fruits intertwines with vanilla sweetness, subtly spiced with ginger that lends a gentle edge. The whole composition is vintage in the finest sense of the word: thoughtful, well constructed, avoiding any literal gourmand excess while still caressing the senses with delectable notes. It is a rather quiet, close-to-the-skin fragrance, though on fabric its sweetness lingers until the end of the day. There is something beautifully cocooning about this vintage gourmand.
