The Collection Elegant Vetiver

Elegant Vetiver. Quite poorly done. This Elegant Vetiver don't know uses what Vetiver (Haitian and Java oil listed) but it's not the type of Vetiver I'm used to...not the Guerlian traditional type, also not the Tom Ford grey type nor the Encre Noire dark earthy type or some heavy strong java Vetiver type. It opens with a blast of heavy and fresh juniper berries, green and fresh but still feel synthetic in a way to me, maybe that's Boss way of seeing such an opening as Elegant opening or how they define the word Elegant the heavy dominant juniper berry. Perhaps the Pistachio note here contributes to such an Elegant opening but I don't get the nuttiness, green yes but amateurish and young, not mature. I own and have used 4 Boss Collection so far and this ranks last or second last. Also somehow I am getting an idea or smells a certain aroma chemical note that this Boss Collection Line is using in all my 4 bottles, one that helps in the projection and the opening of each scent. Elegant Vetiver is kinda linear scent as it develops into a rounder heart but still isn't as quality or better than some other Vetiver scents for me. It somehow stays that way till the drydown....Does not fit the higher quality higher range Line for a good designer brand, at least for This EV. Tries too hard to be Elegant but nothing too elegant about it.

I’ve always had a deep appreciation for vetiver and have explored many of its different interpretations, but Elegant Vetiver is a complete game-changer. I used to think vetiver was all about those earthy, herbal, and woody vibes (perhaps with a touch of green or milky facets at most) but this scent is the first to show me how truly refined and sophisticated this root can be. It’s truly elegance in a bottle! The performance is spot on. It projects perfectly for the first few hours with a fresh, green, and graceful presence, without ever being too 'loud.' The longevity is solid, staying well above average before it eventually fades into a warm, lingering labdanum skin scent. On a side note, you HAVE to see the bottle when it bathes in the sunrise or sunset light. WOW. That’s when you realize the 'elegance' isn’t just in the juice, but the entire aesthetic. Seriously, Boss... just take my money already! 💸💸💸✨

I had a friend bring back a bottle from Paris, as evidently this is not sold in the USA. At over €200 for 100 ml., I was a bit nervous about a "blind buy" but am very pleased with the fragrance. The name "Elegant Vetiver" is apt: bold vetiver, woodsy and earthy (Haitian plus Javan vetiver equals great combination). This strikes me as a special occasion, evening, and cooler weather choice, though I have worn it to work occasionally and received compliments. The top note has a blast of pistachio that is nutty and woody without being sweet. The middle note has lasting power and the cashmeran is unmistakable to my nose. There is a lasting ambery drydown. Unlike with so many other fragrances, one spritz is enough, and I imagine multiple sprays would be overpowering.

I recently purchased this perfume at Zurich Airport while haven’t heard about it before! The scent opens with a distinct note of vetiver, although I couldn't detect any pistachio. For me, the prominence of vetiver is key, and it truly shines in this fragrance. Some might consider it overpriced for a Boss label, question paying a premium for it and preferring to invest in more luxurious brands. I think that this will only enhances its exclusivity, since less people will buy it! The fragrance itself is captivating, it projects moderately and has a normal longevity, dancing on my skin for about six hours. I think is suitable for colder days than a hot summer but its not overwhelmingly warm.

I now have nearing 200 different fragrances, and nothing else smells like this. The pistachio in the opening is such a surprise every time, and this, along with the cashmeran, smoothes out the vetiver on the dry down to maintain a perfect level of balance and refinement. The projection is modest, but this is a fragrance that you hope catches the right person's attention so they lean in closer. I feel it's appropriate throughout the year for the right occassion, though it might not be one to wear all the time as one might grow tired of it, since it is such an attention grabber... but certainly in a good way every once in awhile.

Did spray this on at the DXB duty free on my way back, and kept sniffing my wrist all throughout the flight. Kinda regret not having bought it, but then again, not sure if I'd get much use out of it. It's a very smooth, velvety vetiver, as the name suggests, and I'd say would fit best in a smart casual situation, rather than a black-tie event. Lasts VERY long: was still faintly lingering on me after a 16-hour flight and I assume would project like a beast if worn properly. Best for fall or spring wear in my opinion.

People talk about Boss Absolu, Elixir, and Triumph Elixir, and they're good, especially the last two. However, those who know, know. This one and a couple of others from the Collection collection have better quality, performance, and scent profile than all these three hyped ones. Elegant Vetiver is one of them. This is a beast in terms of longevity, and the quality is incredible. I will talk about its scent profile in another review...suffice to say, it's an amazing all year round scent.

This was the only perfume that had me go back to the Boss shop and buy it, after 5 days of thinking about it every day. It's the kind of perfume that you'd wear with an elegant outfit, on an expensive date night or even a late business drink. For me it's one of the few perfumes that I can still smell at home at the end of the evening. So far it's my absolute favorite from a collection of around 50 perfumes.

Finally got my nose on this fragrance and I am really happy with this purchase. Good deals on line for 100 ml bottles in the US. From the start I get a smokey vetiver and strong juniper berry with an underlying hint of something that I am not sure of. It is rather linear to my nose. I am really big fan of Vetiver and although not my fave in my collection, it is worth every penny. Enjoy!

Very unique and super elegant! Decent performance that won’t disappoint. The opening is a beautiful mix of pistachio and vetiver that I want to last forever but in about an hour it turns into something woody, a little earthy, fresh and slightly sweet very, very elegant! Wear it anytime of the year at night I’d say.

It’s a beautiful fragrance. Very luxe scent!! It’s a very earthy, nutty kind of Vetiver that true diehard Vetiver fans will enjoy. Me, I love it!! It’s pretty pricey though, I have a bottle of something slightly similar, Bentley’s Wild Vetiver. Gonna have to save up for this Elegant Vetiver, it’s over USD 250.

Just put it on this morning on the way to work: A very pleasant surprise! This is different from most common perfumes out there. Unique and sophisticated. Not too heavy and not too light, just perfect. Classy and pleasent.

Vetiver at it's best. Elegant is a suitable name. This collection offers high quality fragrances. I have Noble Wood, Vigorous Cologne, Elegant Vetiver. All of them are stunning. Magnetic Musc is my next target.

the guy working at the largets perfume shop where i live, has thos Boss scent as his signature scent. Interesting this shop has 200 fragrances he could choose from ( Creed,Memo,Amouage etc etc you name it)

A salty vetiver, not to dry, very nice. Imagine Chanel Sycomore and Byredo Bal d'Afrique had a baby. Excellent quality, good performance and the scent is 10/10.

Out of my 83 fragrances this one of most appreciated for how simple, calming and beautifully sexy of a scent. Creamy, wood and clean that lasts all day.

It starts brighter, with a fresh lift and a soft pistachio note that feels like a cool, vanillic pistachio ice cream — nutty, smooth, and gently sweet. Then it moves into a clean, smooth vetiver that stays soft and never harsh. It finishes with a cozy sweetness from the amber and pistachio, with the vetiver toned down. It feels clean, elegant, and well made. In the end, it becomes a subtle creamy fragrance, close to the skin but beautiful. Who was afraid to buy it without trying it first because it's hard to find a sampler: It reminds me a lot of Guerlain Vetiver: The same clean vetiver, but instead the citrus has a well-blended nut accord, almost green, almost gourmand, unique. Much more modern, rounded, richer, but not much denser. Performance is moderate, about six hours, with a projection that stays close to the skin. I really dislike fragrances like Lalique Encre Noir, even the Sport flanker, because the vetiver is too strong, dark, and inky — it makes me sick. Encre Noir is rough and heavy, while Elegant Vetiver is smoother, more refined, and clearly better in materials... MUCH more wearable. The pistachio and amber give it more richness, making it feel like a luxury vetiver, not just another vetiver scent.

Have to say, this is a good one from Boss. The Collection is unlike their boring mainstream options. I've sampled Elegant Vetiver twice and might get a bottle if the only option wasn't 100 mls for 211€. The liquid is colored green because that's what this smells like - the green type of vetiver. Not spring green grass like Guerlaine Homme Boise, but dark green, energizing, natural, all year round excepting high heat. It's a good blend done by a perfumer who seems to know her stuff. The vetiver is balanced by juniper freshness that keeps this from going too earthy, just a hint of nutty sweetness from pistachio, and labdanum giving some leathery muscle. Classy and interesting yet probably crowd pleasing, smells quality.

I smelled the whole collection. All frags are decent but pricy (just like private collections of any lux brand jsut like Guerlain). This one and magnetic musk (library smell with lacquered desks that later evolves into a honeyed musk. a very pleasant one) are my fav. EV does not have any sweet heart or base, so I guess this is the pistachio that brings to the table this nice creamy blend. You will not see this worn by many but if you catch it, you would not like stop sniffing. Great one.

Opens with an incredibly smoky vetiver that I'm not the biggest fan of, but that lasts about 5 to 10 minutes before it settles into this beautiful sweet vetiver scent. I don't get juniper at all. I get just pure vetiver with a touch cashmere and a faint hint of the pistachio. The more it dries down, the better it gets in my opinion. It lasts about 2 hours projecting moderately and another 7 or 8 as a skin scent.

Not bad at all. It's a sharp, sour vetiver, but a lot easier to wear/versatile than Lalique Encre Noir Sport. Would I buy this? Perhaps some time in the future, for now I have a bunch of vetivers and no room to keep more, even though I'd love to expand my inventory and explore vetivers. This is more suitable for spring/autumn that summer though.

Quite nice, refined, masculine. Nothing loud or obnoxious. Good for professional settings, but could be worn anywhere in a smart casual attire. I imagine a more serious gentleman with some life experience wearing this fragrance. Overall, a pleasant scent with some lightness and smoothness. I tested it at Boss store.

Such a sexy, sophisticated fragrance. The pistachio note is so orgasmic. Never thought I'd ever appreciate a pistachio note but this completely does it for me. Very well put together fragrance.

To the person below,this is available in the US. The Hugo Boss store has them.. I definitely appreciate this fragrance but it's just not for me. I didn't really get much pistachio. Right off the bat you get a juniper vetiver blast . After about 3 minutes it tones down and really smoothes out with the cashmere and labdanum. But this is definitely a Vetiver forward fragrance. It's mellow it's smooth and it definitely has a high-end smell to it. Projection is good. I was using 4 sprays for a few days and it was pretty strong for about 2 hours before it started to fade away . At about the 5th hour it was a skin scent . It's a very nice elegant fragrance. Its definitely too pricey too. Scent - 6.5 Complexity - 7.0 Quality - 9.5 Performance - 8.0 Bottle - 6.0 ( nothing special)

I made an account just to review this. This smells like a bottle of Kava from sprouts. Exactly like it. Before you buy, go to sprouts and buy a bottle of Kava extract and put some on your wrists, let it dry. That’s the smell, but stronger. Weird metallic roots...

Too sweet, not enough Vetiver. The smell comes across cheap and gourmand. Juniper Berry blast is also harsh. To my nose this is sweet pistachio, juniper berries, cashmere base with a light Vetiver hidden between.

I'm a bona fide Hugo Boss fragrance hater. I've tried a lot of them (perhaps even most of them?) over the years, and find them the epitome of "drug store/pharmacy shelf synthetic slop tier". That's a mouthful, but I'm sure you know what I mean. They smell cheap. The only three I've enjoyed are the OG Hugo Boss Hugo (1994), the later extreme version, and Hugo Boss Baldessarini. This? This is much better. While they don't smell anything alike, this reminds me so much of what Guerlain has done with Vetiver Parfum (2024) in terms of its approach. This fits into the same "nighttime/evening vetiver" style as Vetiver Parfum does. Both make use of juniper; however, here, instead of the tonka/licorice combo of the Guerlain, we get pistachio/cashmeran, which smells completely different but acts in the same way of "softening" and smoothing the vetiver down. Nobody has actually described what this smells like, so I will. The reviewer below described this as "sharp" and "sour." I have no idea what they are smelling, but I smell the complete opposite. This fragrance is very powdery, almost borderline "creamy," heading towards a gourmand direction (without ever becoming one, thankfully) and slightly aromatic. The pistachio note is nutty and very noticeable at the opening, but literally dies away completely within minutes. This is mostly a fragrance that revolves around some juniper freshness (but not as much as you probably think is in this, ie it's definitely no Chanel Edimbourg juniper party), a TON of amber (the labdanum), a smooth cashmeran note that adds a velvety soft sheen throughout, a VERY slight pepper (pink?) type of inflection (even though its not listed), and then a VERY soft vetiver which is actually not that noticeable and acts as more of a "behind the scenes" supporting note. I know my vetiver types very well, and I definitely don't smell javan vetiver in this at all. This is definitely the "clean" haitian type. Overall, this is mainly cashmeran and labdanum, with juniper and vetiver playing supporting roles. This is a creamy, powdery, amber/labdanum-heavy type of fragrance with a slight aromatic tinge. I'm shocked that nobody has talked about that at all. I wouldn't actually call this a "vetiver" fragrance, since the vetiver here is more of a background note. I would have liked a slight incense or smoke note in this (like Guerlain Vetiver Parfum) to add some edge to it, as overall it does come off a bit "safe" and predictable. In terms of the above "reminds me of" fragrances, this smells absolutely nothing like Chanel Sycomore. This lives more within the Hermes Tonka Vetiver type of world (though that one has a lot more vetiver in it), without actually smelling like that fragrance. I can also see the Caron Aimez Moi Comme Je Suis resemblance; however, that one is sweeter, and the hazelnut in it stays "nuttier" throughout, whereas the pistachio completely evaporates in this during the opening, as I mentioned earlier. Overall, I prefer this over the Guerlain in terms of the scent. However, there's no denying that the ingredients definitely smell of a higher quality in the Guerlain. I honestly can't believe they were selling this at retail for 275 USD. The quality of the ingredients in this does not justify that price point at all —absolutely batshit insane pricing. There's a reason this entire line has come back down to earth in terms of the discounted pricing. When to wear? This is perfect for an upscale date night. Imagine a bar like the St Regis in Jakarta. Dark grey hopsack sport coat, black shirt, trousers, sleek boots. Dry gin martinis and an attractive woman by your side. Not my favorite fragrance, not by a long shot, and I do wish the ingredients were of higher quality (there's definitely a synthetic aroma chemical "tinge" throughout its life), but this is such a pleasant step up from the usual Hugo Boss slop. 7.5/10 Edit: Wow, this is an absolute amber/labdanum beast. Again, how has nobody mentioned that in the reviews below? They should have named this "Elegant Amber" or "Elegant Labdanum". Deep in the dry down, the labdanum in this begins to remind me very strongly of its use in Prada Amber Pour Homme Intense. If they had added myrrh and patchouli to this, it actually could have genuinely passed for a hypothetical flanker version of Prada Amber Pour Homme Intense. Edit 2: Not appropriate for summer imo. Haven't worn this in a while; recently sprayed it on and stepped outside into 30-degree celsius +, humid weather. Nope. Cloying and stuffy. This is a spring and autumn fragrance.

Elegant Vetiver has been one of my absolute favourite fragrances since the moment I first tried it. Even after two years, every wear feels just as special—it never fails to lift my mood, and my appreciation for it only grows with time. As a vetiver enthusiast, I can confidently say this bottle will have a permanent place in my collection. The performance is outstanding—long-lasting with excellent scent quality—and it consistently earns me compliments. Living near the coast, where the air is often humid, I find it wears beautifully. While it shines in autumn, winter, and early spring, I also love wearing it on summer evenings. Sophie Labbé’s creation is nothing short of masterful. To my nose, it smells uniquely luxurious, and I’ve yet to find anything that comes close. True to its name, Elegant Vetiver is the epitome of sophistication—simply flawless.

I had the chance to test the whole Boss 'collection' line at the airport and the only perfume that really impressed me was this one. Definitely masculine, but also suitable, in my opinion, for a woman who likes to be daring. I haven't smelt a vetiver of this quality for a long time, aromatic as few are. The pistachio, which is generally a note that doesn't drive me crazy in perfumes (Roses Berberanza, I'm talking to you!), gives an extra something in the opening. Truly a gem!

Vetiver is one of my favorite notes. I've got all of the major vetiver frags and I was sure I didn't need another one. I was wrong. This is something special in the vetiver world and it's lovely. For me it's the cashmeran. It coats the vetiver in velvet. It's cozy and comforting plus it seems to help it last a little bit longer than most of my other vetivers. Sillage and projection are about the same as Sycomore (which is moderately quiet) 8.5/10

Elegant Vetiver is an absolute triumph for Hugo Boss. It successfully bridges the gap between classic, old-school masculine perfumery and contemporary niche sensibilities. For the gentleman who values tradition but demands modern execution, this is an indispensable asset to a sophisticated fragrance rotation.

right at the top of spray, smells like crushed pistachios. when it drys down, it goes into this creamy vetiver that smells peaceful and cozy. projection is very minimal, someone gotta get into your personal space to smell you, but it lasts for almost the entire day. 8.4/10

Not at all as smokey/earthy and leathery as I thought. It's like you take the same type of vetiver in Guerlain Vetiver EdT and mix it with some creaminess. So it's creamy-green-slightly earthy. Perfectly pleasant, but it doesn't scream NICHE, or £200!!

I have issue seeing how this formula could go wrong. Quite beautiful, would love a sample, but I'll stick to Encre Noire for the foreseeable future. It's more elegant, powdery and slightly sweeter. Oh, my dear juniper...
