The Collection Vigorous Cologne

This might as well be named 'Vigorous Moss'. Hugo Boss must have cultured this moss alongside citrus fruits because the blending here is seamless. The opening is a beautifully crisp, natural, and awakening citrus explosion. As the mid-notes develop, a deep green, ethereal, and earthy mossiness creeps in, creating an illusion of fresh citrus fruits resting in a fragrant wooden chest. A few hours into the drydown, the citrus takes a backseat. The moss takes center stage, unfolding its bone-dry woodiness, rich forest-floor earthiness, and a highly unique kombu tea facet, with a subtle trace of citrus still lingering. To me, it feels like Terre d'Hermès Eau Givrée undergoing a stunning evolution into a much more mature, deep creation, while trailing off with the poetic essence of Le Jardin de Monsieur Li. It lasts well over 6 hours and the projection is solid. It can easily fill a room but stays softly airy, subtle, and clean. In terms of vibe, it gives me major LV Imagination energy, sharing that same long-lasting, elegant, chill bubble around you. Ultimately, this is a MOSS fragrance through and through. The surrounding ingredients exist solely to sculpt moss into a piece of modern, minimalist art. Clean, edgy, and high-quality stuff!

Vigorous Cologne is the most photorealistic citrus I’ve ever tried. It really feels like you’re peeling a fresh citrus fruit with your hands—the strong peel scent hits first, then it softens into something like natural juice. The drydown is more white floral and musky, but not animalic. The moss and patchouli work more as a base that supports the fresh spiciness. The citrus touch stays noticeable until the end, which keeps it fresh and easy to wear. I can understand why some people complain about the performance. It’s a fresh perfume and behaves more like a true cologne than a long-lasting fragrance. And yes, considering the retail price, it’s fair to expect more longevity. But IMO, since I paid less than $60 for a tester bottle at a discounter, it was a great deal.

Although the base of this fragrance is a fougere, which to me always seems oldschool, the supporting notes and aromas give it a modern feel. The result is a superb masculine fragrance that doesn't feel dated. It is a serious fragrance, not really a casual dumb reach, more of something you'd wear if you are dressed up for a meeting or to go to a nice place during the day. Perfromance is really good, and lasts 8+ hours with arms length projection from 2 sprays. Definetly worth it at discounter prices, not so much at full price. Scent 8.75/10 Performance 8.5/10

This stuff is absolutely phenomenal. I found it randomly browsing for fragrances with notes that I enjoy, purchased it instantly and I am not disappointed. It’s a heavy citrus opening with some slight florals that is so fresh and clean. The dry down is where the magic happens and it becomes this absolutely beautiful citrus and rosemary scent with lots of earthiness (presumably from the moss). Straight up 10/10 masterpiece that lasts all day and projects for multiple hours. The price sucks, but this is a big daily compliment getter.

Simple perfumery done extremely well. Photorealistic bergamot, patchouli, moss and some rosemary lightly sweetened by orange blossom. It is vetiver forward as others have stated. Boss have outdone themselves, this is absolutely something special and worth the price tag, don’t let the fact that it’s by Hugo boss make you think it’s anything less than exceptional. This is crowd pleasing perfumery at its finest.

Imagine if someone sorted Eros energy out, made it more realistic smelling with a little more class and depth, then dress it in a nice Boss suit, stunning fragrance sits perfectly on skin, no harshness just smooth ‘take you away somewhere else’ scent. Superb silage and longevity. The only downside is this now makes some of my other favourite Boss fragrances smell almost cheap.

Super realistic citrus (lemon, bergamot) with a little bit of sweetness. I like to think of it as a lemon tart or lemon liqueur, like limoncello. High quality, very well executed. Moderate to long lasting, very good projection. Gets compliments. Amazing job by Yann Vasnier. Love this stuff. It is pricey though.

Just wonderful. If I could only have one fragrance, this would be the strong contender. Its absolutely very good, versatile and luxurious all at once. Beautiful hidden gem that's overlooked and underrated. Give it a try whenever you see it, you might find the scent of your life.

This is citrus done correctly. Wow. Projects 2-3ft for 8hrs and then a skin scent still on the 12th hour now. Very light on the orange blossom for a touch of sweetness- and definitely vetiver-adjacent smelling. Think Dior Homme 2020 minus the amber sweetness and spiciness.

Imagine if this was realesed by LV, this would be their best seller without a doubt. In the same ballpark as imagination but better, smells more expensive, less synthetic, it's more deep like a higher oil concentration. This is on my wish list

Pleasant. At fist its good, half an hour later its ok, but an hour or so after spraying it becomes this gorgeous scent that suits summer vibes.

After dry down, I cannot stop smelling myself. Especially when the smell float in the air... It's just amazing.

I love it. Such a nice masculine gentleman scent for warmer days. Citrus, Aromatic and Spicy.

It's a fresh citrus, but to me, a more upscale, professional citrus. This isn't a "shorts and t-shirt" casual fragrance. This is an office setting freshie, a night time dinner, date night freshie. I bought Vigorous and Elegant Vetiver at the same time. I prefer the vetiver just slightly more. If Elegant Vetiver was a 4.5 to me, I would put Vigorous a tenth or so lower. A very nice fragrance with very good longevity. I would say it's in the 4.3 to 4.4 range. I don't think it's blind buy safe because it's not a casual fragrance, nor should you expect it to be from the Boss private line. If you want casual citrus, go with Bottled Citrus instead, except that the longevity on it is trash

This is an uplifting fragrance, which I can see why they called it "vigorous." It has a 'fruity pebbles' kind of vibe without being too synthetic, cheap-smelling, or feminine, which I believe comes from the bergamot, rosemary, and orange blossom combination. It is a bergamot-dominated juice throughout. It's good, not great. I like it. It is definitely of higher quality.

nice, but nothing extraordinary. big on citrus, more specifically that lemon. not a bad thing though as the lemon is super realistic, and stays throughout the duration of the fragrance. easy to wear. like a better eros energy. lasts about 4-5 hours, projects moderately 6.5/10

If Azzaro pour homme was made for younger people,it would smell like this.Easily it can be your signature office scent.Nobody will dislike this.

Incredible. This is just something very special. Very expensive, but so good. Smelled it at the Barcelona Airport duty free on the way to Berlin. It lasted on my wrist the entire day. On the way back home I tested it again and realized that this was the best smelling men's fragrance for me in 2024. I am in my 50s and this just fits my idea of the perfect scent for a man. Citrus, aromatic, woody, but blended in a very unique way, it projects perfectly, smells magical, and just perfect in every sense, well... except the price.

This scent reminds me sooo much of an old Insignia deo spray. In a good way. I think the scent is nearly identical to that. My dad had it when I was in the 6th grade, and I borrowed it from him when I went to a school party. Brings back so many memories. As a simple description it captures the scent profile of LV Imagination and Bvlgari Tygar with a green 80s scent as the base.

Tested this at JFK T8. A decent offering; overall, it's like taking an old-school citrus-aromatic and modernizing it with the Hugo Boss aroma-chemical sheen. I don't mean "aroma chemical" in a negative way, but this has the same synthetic feel I get from Hugo Boss Elegant Vetiver. A strong like. Not something I would rush out to buy, though. 7.5/10

Very nice and complex cologne with nice patchouli backbone. Imagine something in the vein of Mistral Patchouli ( Patchouli Riviera) by Atelier Cologne. It is bright, elegant and potent.

definitely not vigorous mint citrus like torino 21 fresh yes. but very lightz . performance is average

reminds me of eros energy, a little tamer and more woods instead of going abraxen and vanilla.
