#005 Mechanic

The darkest and most pungent out of the line, followed by boxer (which I love lol). I do not mind this scent at all and really quite enjoy the dark and odd nature of the scent. Do I think it is unwearable? No, but definitely an occasional winter exclusive fragrance; and because of that I think the price alone is a bit expensive (retail). I get lots of tobacco and some muskiness, its an oddly addictive scent but misleading from the notes alone. I really enjoy this brand and think its pretty nice- highly reccomend trying them out! This one is worth a sniff. While the other four initial fragrances from this house are all pretty accessible, Mechanic is bold and strange. It smells industrial, I'm getting motor oil, gasoline, machine fuel. I think it's very well composed... but I'm not sure I actually want to smell like this. It might be just a little too out there. In any case, it's interesting and I recommend checking it out if you have the chance, and if you like the avant-garde side of perfumery.

At first I didn't like it because of this urinal accord that seems to pair with the sour typa oil note, but after properly giving it an in depth smell, it instantly took me back to the memories of arriving in Verbier, Switzerland and hopping out the car whilst carrying rental ski boots across the cold and large basement. And that specifically brought me to like it- because i can associate it with something more country-ish and not like a car mechanic in the city (then I would just hate it)

Bought it because of the welding smoke note which I found very peculiar as it settled into a floral scent with a hint of animalic. Although, for some reason now I get an overwhelming sour, animalic and oily note that covers all the other beautiful characteristics that I used to get from it. Could be because I oversprayed it one night and my perception changed since then. This one is really challenging, yet so peculiar.

Despite the Boxer fragrance from this house being an impressive frag, this was a let down--it's still avant garde, but not in really the way I had hoped. I get heavy patchouli, but even heavier floral notes, particularly the violet as the patchouli is more of a supporting note. There is nothing 'industrial' about this IMO, probably just olfactory difference. I would even just go on record that this is just a violet fragrance that is being nudged in a petrol direction from the petitgrain and Iso E, but again, not as industrial as what others are claiming.

I’m a big fan of niche fragrances (as I’m sure you can tell by my collection) but I was very underwhelmed by this fragrance. I read the warnings so got myself a sampler. People were talking about dark, moody, difficult to wear and imagine my surprise. This fragrance is heavy on the patchouli and florals. I get a tiny bit of leather but not much else. Very sweet, somewhat powdery and actually reads a little grandma. But patchouli for me is less ‘moody’ and more teenage stoner bedroom, so maybe my nose is just weird 😝

I absolutely love unusual perfumes, so i was intrigued by this one when i saw it at the perfume store. I liked it at first, but in about 10 minutes it became absolutely unbearable, made me feel nauseous and hard to breathe because of how strong the scent was. Suffered for the next 3 hours, before coming home and taking a shower. The name really describes the scent perfectly. The most unwearable perfume i have tried so far!

If you look for expensive skunky smell try Amouage Royal Tobacco or King Blue instead - it will not make you feel ashamed in public. This one is weird and unusual, but can easily disappointed as a blind buy. A skunk in a bottle. It's very strong and long-lasting so be careful.

Oh no. This came out of the sample sprayer acrid, a combination of citrus and plasticky, metallic smoke. It turned leathery, with some aspect of industrial cleaner. It does remind me of going to the mechanic, but specifically of using the bathroom there -- my boots slipping on the grease-streaked floor, the heavy-duty soap in the push-button dispenser, a rubbery air of tires, and a toilet that is not cleaned very often. I made the mistake of trying this before going to a pop-up gallery opening. The whole time I was there, I was worrying that people smelled it on me and were displeased. People still stood near me, though, so at least the projection isn't too aggressive.

I enjoy patchouli and so-called "dark scents" but this is just a no-no. It's not "mysterious" or "enchanting"; it's quite simply stomach-turning. Bitter herbs, overdose of patchouli, and even unfinished leather. Where's the mechanic side? I don't get any oil, gasoline, etc. DO NOT BLIND BUY!

sometimes, industrial scents like paint or gasoline have a secret, gross indulgence about them. however, this is just harsh and unwearable. this smells like straight metal with all its unpleasantness and dries down into an animalic pee amber smell

Luckily, I bought only a sample of it. I expected oil, grease, tools, tyres,.. certain that this one will work out for me. Tried it... WTF!?! I got urine baked on sun-warmed tile grout. It’s not a workshop. It’s not a garage. It’s the men’s toilet at a local bus station in August 1987. That air, that humidity. That... haunting metallic note of despair. Final conclusion: NEVER MORE P.s. My review isnt meant to mock the fragrance - I see it works well for some. Just heads-up: if your skin isnt the right canvas (as mine clearly isnt), it might turn into an unexpectedly unpleasant ride.

Unlike most reviews below, I love this fragrance! It’s dirty, greasy and a bit animalic. Before trying this, I was afraid I would get a (burnt) rubber smell from this (which I don’t like), but I don’t get that, it’s just a greasy/oily quality that gives the industrial feel. The rest of it is this masculine, musky smell with a good amount of tabacco

As an avant-garde perfume lover, I definitely like this one. There is something old-school about the scent (I think it’s styrax), which makes it even less boring than it would be sans it. I do not get metal (mb just a tad of grease), mostly flowers, tobacco and an animalic note. The longevity is ok. The scent feels cozy and warm, in a weird way.

Paint thinner, gasoline, motor oil, burnt tires. Very industrial and metallic. It gets weirdly sweet and flowery in the dry down. It’s harsh, gross, greasy, but I keep wanting to come back to it; it's like being attracted to a blue-collar worker you know would commit a hate crime against you.

This is a work of art, guys, you know. Beard, chest hair, and mustache. It smells like a tire shop in Brazil, with someone changing your tire and blowing puffs of Marlboro—amazing! I also smell the back alleys of Amsterdam. A masterpiece, and cheap to boot. Rating: 10/10."
