Incanto

Some seller websites describe Incanto as airy and watery, but it's not very accurate of how I perceive the scent. I agree, the floral notes are soft-spoken rather than sultry, and the white musk in the base gives the scent clean quality, but I wouldn't rush to call it airy. For instance, I Fiori del Cielo, another nice floral from this house, feels more transparent to me. With Incanto, the base notes come forward early on, counteracting the floaty softness of the florals. As a result, the scent has a fair amount of heft to it. It's powdery and quite warm, even heady, though not yet near the point where it would be crossing into the oriental territory. The floral notes have a little spicy edge to them; I'm able to pick up orchid and some watery magnolia. They blend smoothly into the warm and powdery sandalwood base. It's a fine, rich and intense floral, but with an urbane, polished manner. It makes me think of a middle-class 30-something who has a tastefully curated, functional wardrobe, and likes taking good care of her body. Because of this association, I may have been initially attracted to the scent a little more than it deserves:) A couple more sessions with the fragrance helped me realise it's too conventional for my liking, though it's definitely nicer than a lot of the mainstream florals I've smelled. For reference, it reminds me a little of Paul Smith Floral, but that one smells harsh and cheap by comparison. Overall, it's a good-quality floral with plenty of substance and appeal, but probably a little too safe and one-dimensional. Apparently it became Senza Fine at one point because of a trademark dispute. I suspect the name was questioned by Salvatore Ferragamo?

When I first tried this, I hated it. It smelled bitter and herbal to me. I tried to sell it and put it away for at least two years. I tried it again last week and was shocked. My nose must have changed. To me it smells very green and light, sweet and almost gourmand floral. Edible. It is not aquatic to me. Yes, it is conventional as the other reviewer said. I like powerhouses and quirky scents like Tauer. By this house, my favorite is Tulipano Nero. It is dark and spicy.
