Iceberg Twice Gold

Oh my god, that opening... That slightly fruity, very strong leather, animalic sexy opening... It's just mesmerizing! After a few minutes a slight benzoin note comes through which gives this amazing first impression a deeper dimension enhancing it's seductive power. After about half an hour the tonka gives of it's sweetness only adding more fuel to the already burning hot scent. As a woman I must say that I LOVE this scent on a man, even though I can see my self pairing it with some overly feminine perfumes and getting that perfect balanced sexy unisex boss babe fragrance. It's not a very long lasting fragrance, 6h which is totaly ok, with nice projection. It's so worth reapplying through the day (if this is not enough streinght for someone's taste) for the impression that it gives. And the price tag... Amazing!

Vanillic Leather Gold flanker is the latest addition in the Twice lineup dating back to the 1995 progenitor. It seems like the line was ressurected like a Lazarus after a long hiatus, since 26 years passed between the original and the follower Nero (2021). We didn’t have to wait that long for the next one – only two years passed and Gold arrived in 2023. What’s even more fascinating is that all three are creations of the same perfumer Ilias Ermenidis. I’m not quite sure where he was employed in 1995, but Ilias is now a principal perfumer at Firmenich and this is quite evident both in Nero and the later Gold flanker. Having access to their own in-house ingredients, the nose behind this delivered solid fragrances even with low budget. This is also the reason why Gucci Guilty Absolute and Phillip Plein No Limit$ are often listed as similar to this – this being no coincidence as the other two are creations of Alberto Morillas, master perfumer at the very same company. So the leather and wood notes come from the same cabinet and Twice Gold feels like a clash between both the Morillas’ creations and more. The note breakdown here on Fragrantica is just hypothetic, since even Iceberg themselves don't go into much detail on their website. In the top I get the resemblance to the rugged leather note of Gucci, probably courtesy of the same Woodleather aromachemical, but here it’s toned down and playing second fiddle behind wooden notes (Goldenwood?). I also get some herbaceousness in the background not dissimilar to the previous entries – a dotted line connecting all three releases, so to say. The sweetened vanillic drydown is more reminiscent of No Limit$, sans the aniseed liquorice note thereof. Performance is quite surprisingly more than you would expect with the skin scent discernible even after 20 hours. Smodatoamore's comment below is not a lie but the honest truth. Any development from the top notes to the base happens within 4 hours, however. The remaining time is restricted to the somewhat “been there, done that” base accord of tonka-vanilla combo supplemented with the almost complimentary dose of amberwoods, but those luckily do not stick out their scratchy fingernails and remain well blended into the composition. Overall, a nice little surprise from the house and a solid leather fragrance by itself. When considering the price, it’s quite a no-brainer, really.

I left a review some months ago about this. It was never similar to Gucci Guilty Absolute (which I own and love), smells like a mass appealing and tamed leather-centric fragrance with some benzoin and vanilla. 0% like One Million though, even less D&G Pour Homme, I don't know where people get that comparison from. My bottle is from the earliest batches, 12/23, maybe it's different now? Girlfriend says it has "too much leather", I own Godolphin, Tuscan Leather and Ombre Nomade inspirations, I'd say leather here is way less intrusive and shares the spotlight with a sweet component.

Good bang for your buck. It's a different take on Ombre Leather, smells in the same vein as it while not being a clone, if you look for a copy of Ombre Leather you won't find that in here, but it is in a similar style. I paid 19.99 for 125ml, bought my bottle months ago, performance is okay tbh, nothing too great about it, I don't know how someone said it lasts 24 hours because that's a blatant lie, on me this fragrance does 5 hours and then it dies out. Decent buy if you want a leather-centric fragrance for winter and fall, it won't break the bank.

The name says a lot. Gold as in gold bar, like One Million. To me it's Iceberg's straight One Million dupe plus a strong pencil sharpener note. What's the point of this, I don't get it. 15 years after the release of One Million - one of the most copied fragrances in the world - to make and release another... not saying what I think about it... Zero leather but lot of tonka and benzoin. Pleasant otherwise and not a bad quality. This has nothing to do with Ombré Leather and Gucci Guilty Absolute. Absolutely nothing. I never liked One Million because I found it too sweet and feminine, but this is not bad for a dupe. If you want a cheap dupe of 1M, you'll love this, but TF OL and GGA, don't look here!
