Malika's Temptation

This niche brand totally deserves more exposure. It is rare to find a range where all - to my nose all - their main perfume range is oustanding. Somebody like Amouage (I refer to their main range since Amouage also has some not that lucky concoctions here and there in their garden blooms range) or Tauer yes, but that is Amouage, and Tauer and both are institution reputation by now. Malika is an enveloping warm syrupy (but not too sweet) indulgence, woody-powdery caramel praline dates, which is sheer beautiful. Good staying power, and sillage, none monsters, but present (I always want more and the more the better but I guess not all formulas can last for a day or long hours). What I love in their range is that all of the perfumes remain chic and classy, like a refreshing modern twist on classic base but without crazy noise. And not one in the fruity-chully-musky-pinky thing of these days. Also not the usual range composed of uni-accords (a rose, a leather, a oud, etc). They have them all, but blended in something more complex and abstract than that main accord. Malika is the most warm and sweet (though nothing cloying or toothache sweet) all day all year round day to night sort of perfume that is cosy and warm but also stands sexy but elegant and but classy at night.

Ooh....naughty Malika. It's the far superior African continents answer to la vie et belle. Far more interesting to my nose. Yes there is a bit of praline sweetness but on my skin there is LOTS of rose, vanilla and ylang. Ok, it might come in the gourmand category but this is very classy and luscious. There is lots of wood and oud making a substantial base and balance out all those diva floral notes really well. The wood notes add a lovely depth. I think it's unisex for a guy with a bit of a sweet tooth. It's definitely a scent for evening wear and yep seduction. I was tempted to go fb but then Malika doesn't dry down so well on me. A burnt sugar vibe starts to appear. Sadly a thumbs down for that. I get good longevity and sillage in this chilly room.

I feel lots of honey with some nice flavorful fruits and a touch of animalic notes in the base. It smells both sweet and somewhat fresh with a great darker woody base. I think it’s patchouli that gives a bit of freshness, but in general it’s a great scent, love it! Follow me on IG: scent.guide

This starts out with an enormous dose of sweet, fruity cognac accord (patchouli) supported by bright woods and floral touches at the top. The boozy notes bring a "fresh out of the barrel" effect, they aren't heavy at all but rather effervescent and breezy - perfect for spring. I can't believe how accurate the name is... Malika is obviously some delightful person who wanders around pleasing her senses all day long. Cognac, chocolates, bright and airy florals and just a few touches of something delightfully sensual. Longevity and sillage are moderate, neither good nor bad for the price, it will be noticeable for a few hours before floating down to a skin scent. As short lived as it is, it's a very nice journey to go on.

I enjoy this fragrance, though it is one that calls for the right occasion. Usually a very cold day or a special evening out. First spray is a little synthetic, to my nose. But afterwards it becomes powdery, spicy and warm. There isn't much oud in this at all. It's a very classy and long lasting scent.

Never in a million years would I have gone for this based on the notes. But it was included in the discovery set... and I’m working from home currently... so I thought why not. In my life I have come across actual chocolates that smelled more artificial than this. It’s a very comforting scent. Like the other perfumes from Ideo I get a good half day longevity out of it and the notes are blended beautifully. It has just the right pinch of oud & patch in it and the drydown is rosy-musky and not cloying. In my mind MT had already moved into my giveaway box for swaps, but I think I’m going to hold on to it. About me: 40+, like unisex scents, dislike anything fruity or sweet (normally....) Edit- Need to add, this is not a gourmand scent. Despite the praline note being clearly detectable, it is not 'chocolate-forward'. Ideo know better than that.

Far, far, FAR too sweet for my tooth - so this was one temptation I could easily resist. Not quite as cloying as Oud Bouquet, but less complex, too, so it just couldn't close the deal with my salty self. Nice touches of extra detail round the edges but overall an overdose on the sugary side. Give it a go if gooey gourmands make you go gooey inside as well, or come across a bottle at a decent discount. But I'll be leaving this one politely at the side of the plate.

MALIKA'S TEMPTATION, is a very pleasant oud gourmand, indeed let's call it "piacione" -Italian expression for someone/something eager to please. Maybe not what you call something new under the sun, in fact I think many fragrances are found on market with the same kind of composition. There are chocolate, vanilla, oud and bit of patchouli. It lasts forever on skin, it's incredible, I thought nothing could beat Montale in longevity but this one has a bonus!
