Pearl

The nose behind Ikiryo's fragrances is Vincent of Dreamhouse. He is a truly talented and multi-faceted artist excelling in many areas (check the company's website). I love the concept behind his perfumes and have been privileged to communicate directly with him; he is a charming and generous correspondent and sent me perfume samples (some before release). As a result of testing them, I now own full bottles of Ame Torturee, Desdemona, Onerirogen, Ghostdance, Hope (not in the database) - and Pearl. I've written a glowing review of Ame Torturee, which remains one of my favourite perfumes of all time - but I have been wearing Pearl today, which may well depose it. Pearl is quite a "conventional" perfume; it's not quirky, unlike the other Ikiryo scents I have tested thoroughly. Having said that, I can't say it "reminds me of" anything else I've tried. According to Fragrantica's database, four of its notes (amyris, daphne, clearwood and hedione) feature in very few perfumes; they must be strong in Pearl - and I'm not familiar with any of them. The only other perfume I own with one of these four listed notes (amyris) is Yves Rocher Quelques Notes d'Amour; comparing them side by side, I think I may be able to - just - pick it out. Pearl is expertly blended; I can't identify individual notes, but - on me - it is a slightly powdery, gently woody and naturally sweet floral fragrance, with a VERY slight hint of rose. The atomiser on my bottle is over-enthusiastic - I spritzed the back of my hand twice, as I usually do, and rather more came out than anticipated, leaving a clearly visible oily sheen on my skin. Despite only spritzing twice, the sillage is heavy; my daughter could smell the perfume clearly from over six feet away when we were sitting in the garden, and I wasn't upwind of her. Even on my dry, perfume-guzzling skin, longevity is in excess of six hours and will be far longer if applied to clothing. I find climate has an influence on perfume for me so I'll add that I live in SE Essex, this is the first day of Autumn in England (1 September) and it's been sunny, mild and dry. One final thing: as with Ame Torturee, Pearl appears to have an unusual property; it seems to waft and swirl around you - later today, my daughter said that it smelled as if it was coming indoors on the breeze, rather than from me. ETA: As Pearl dries down, there is a musky note, which isn't included in the list of notes above; on checking the company website, the notes listed are daphne, rose, patchouli, musk.

this one reminds me of Armaf Club de Nuit intense, I'd say 90% similarity.
