Vanilla Opi-Oud

This perfume is quite special. I find that the Dreamhouse fragrances tend to be unique. As usual, this scent is difficult to describe. On my skin, it smells like an exotic floral scent. The costus is quite prevalent. Then I get leather and oud with a definite vanilla scent always in the background. The trail this leaves is a rich creamy decadent vanilla. The vanilla isn’t too sweet or cloying. The oud isn’t too loud and well blended into this fragrance. This is by far the most unique vanilla fragrance in my collection.

This is becoming one of my favorite vanillas. It’s of course like nothing else I own. If you know you know Vincent creates very unique scents. It’s slightly boozy, sweet and floral. The dry down is dreamy. The Oud is there but not at all skanky. There is a waxy candy like feel to the opening. Screams in the heat and lasts 8 plus hours on my skin.

I got this in the "These Sinful Three" collection. I had high hopes, because I love oud and vanilla, but to my nose, the costus is the most prevalent scent, and I've learned that I dislike costus immensely. I would imagine that for someone who likes costus, the other notes must play a role in the perfume, but I couldn't get past the earthy skin scent long enough to find out. The bottles that the scents arrived in are not the bottles pictured above. They're regular roller balls with an Ikiryo label on them, which was slightly disappointing, but the box they were packaged in is beautiful - wooden with decoupage images on the outside. I very much liked the Blood Cherry Cordial, and have not tried the Apple Rum Jasmine yet, but I'm willing to trade this one, if anyone is interested.

As a primer to this collection, I strongly believe that the artistic expression here was something more along the lines of "These Three Stank A** H**s". As in a collection of fragrances that represent one of three call girls, each of which whom possess a distinctly undesirable feature about them. The artistic expression then places you as the recipient, whom after having paid in-full upfront now has to figure out what to do with their unpleasant company. Upon my initial impression, I would suggest that the unpleasant attribute of our lady Vanilla Opi-Oud would be an STD and a sour attitude. There is a tiny bit of sweetness in the opening from the vanilla, with a botanical texture to it from the costus (and a little sweet opium flower), but then it quickly fades away; leaving the wearer with a sour mélange of bold and pungent aromatics. Not enjoyable in the least. It's not even a gourmandish crème brulee, it's more like a pseudo-animalic pudding. Not something I would even recommend trying for the experience of it.
