Macadam

I agree with the other reviewers who link Macadam to Chopard Casmir. Macadam has the same fruity oriental vibe, a mix of fruity notes, vanilla/amber (not listed, but I definitely smell it), balsams, coconut, a hint of sandalwood and something dry and dusty in the background. Benzoin is strong in both. There are differences though. Macadam is not as loud as Casmir and easier to wear. It's also a bit creamy, with more pronounced fruity and floral notes, and no spices. There is some fresh citrus in the top. I don't get the dragonfruit note specifically. But to be honest, I don't think dragonfruits smell or taste like much in general. The name "Macadam" is perfect for this in my opinion. The blend evokes a nutty creaminess, like a macadamia nut does. I could imagine wearing this with some kind of lightly scented nut bodybutter. No idea if they purposedly named the perfume after the nut, but the name fits. The fragrance seems to be discontinued. But if you like Casmir, are fine with spending a bit more and prefer more refined scents over very intense ones, I actually think Macadam is the better choice. As I already own Casmir, I don't feel like I need a bottle of this, but I will keep my sample.

This is a stunning and unusual fragrance. The dragonfruit, pitahiyah, is really beautiful, soft and sweet and powdery like a French macaroon, which is what the name refers to. It does smell a bit like Casmir Chopard in the middle notes, but much lighter and more sophisticated. The other notes blend perfectly. The jasmine and rose come in and can be enjoyed in the middle notes. The drydown brings out the myrrh (which is not bitter, very unusual- lovely), amber and a soupcon of sandalwood. A beautifully blended gem. It develops and gets more beautiful as time goes on. I found this on fragrance.net at a great price which really surprised me. This is a top quality niche scent, very lovely. It is also reminiscent of Mecheri's Loukhom. I must add that this has very good longevity. It put it on one afternoon and could still smell it on my skin the next morning. There is not a lot of sillage but longevity is outstanding and you smell so good all day!

I discovered Macadam by chance in a perfumery which sells exquisite niche perfumes. Macadam instantly reminded my of Casmir/Chopard which was my signature scent during student days. The similarity in smell is stunning only that Macadam is a bit lighter than the opulent Casmir...evokes lovely memories.

I was a bit afraid to try this when I saw this perfume notes, but it really does smell like Casmir Chopard, just a bit lighter. Love it and happy I got a sample.
