Freak Extrait de Parfum

I sprayed one wrist with the regular Freak and the other with Freak Extrait, and the longevity of Extrait is only slightly better then the already great staying power of the original. Extrait seemed to go close to the skin sooner too. The only noticeable difference between the two fragrances scent-wise is that Extrait seems slightly less earthy/musty to me. I don't think there is any real point in buying one fragrance if you already own the other, as the fragrances and longevity are very similar.

I really wanted to like this fragrance- I love the concept and the bottle is beautiful, but this extrait de parfum is just so strong it is practically unbearable! The scent is definitely unisex, which is interesting in its own way, and I was intrigued by the notes, but when I wore it I was unable to distinguish any subtlety since the opium-like smell just knocks you out. It actually gave me a headache and was difficult to wash off. I would definitely only consider the eau de parfum version, even if I liked the fragrance.

I agree with Malibu. This version seems to go closer to the skin far sooner than the original and the drydown is less earthy/bitter - there is a bitterness in the edp's drydown that doesn't appear to be present in the Extrait. This said, I prefer the edp version over the Extrait. The opening of Extrait is a bit suffocating and overpowering and on me it seems to morph straight into the drydown, bypassing the heart. It's as if the top and heart notes are all simultaneously vying for attention, coming out at the same time; like the perfume has a really loud tantrum and stamps its feet and then goes off for a nap because it's worn itself out. Extrait is top heavy to me and I feel something went wrong with the blending process. If you really like the original Freak, I would stick to that one and not pay the extra bucks for the Extrait version.
