Black Musk

One of my favorite fragrances ever.

The opening of Illuminum Black Musk smacks vaguely of shoe polish. Perversely enough, I rather like it. It reminds me a bit of shoe polish and a touch of soap mixed with oud--or at least the oud flavoring that is being put in tons of niche perfumes these days... After a few minutes, the composition starts to become a bit sweet and the patchouli really shines through. The musk is not very animalic, but it is fairly detectable. I see that civet is listed among the notes, but I would not have guessed it, since despite the dark brown color of the liquid, I do not find Black Musk to be very dirty at all. Patchouli and musk are the main players by the drydown, according to my nose. I liked this perfume much more the first time I wore it, but today it's less interesting. It's possible that it caught me off guard, so the extra interest element made me think that I liked it more than I feel that I do today. In reality, I probably would not reach often for such a perfume, but it just might be unique! Definitely worth testing by people who love both musk and patchouli. Excellent longevity.

As someone who has both Mukhallat and Blue Amber , and goes everywhere with this Black Musk perfume, I can confirm that these three do share the similarities in dry down on my skin, yet , they are quite different to own all of them, Mukhallat opens with strong synthetic strawberry scent and it develops with creamy , vanilla scent after 2 minutes on my skin. Definitely super Gourmand. Then it drys down to soapy scent. Blue amber is more floral, powdery yet with a bit of spiciness pinching your nose back to back. Black musk is darkest, strongest among the three, it begins with animalic civet then it quickly drys down to earthy, powdery scent . Strong musk, smells like your cotton cloth right after you pull out from the dryer, left with warmth soapy detergent scent. I like the black amber the most ! And it lasts all day even after I shower

It's like a cheap heavy "fragrance oil" dipped incense that's somewhat reminiscent of Nag Champa. Sure smells good, but I'm almost afraid to put it on lol
