Rosewood

I love, love, love it! Very strong, intoxicating rose. Not a fresh one, more like a dried, dusty bouquet of roses, it reminds me of locum (Turkish delight) to some extent. Then it mellows down, but not a lot. It reminds me of this "Opera", I think, by Miller Harris. I can't find the name of it, but it came in a velvet, baby blue box, and it was heavy and intoxicating, just like this one.

To my disappointment, this is more about rose & oud than rosewood—It does surface later but it's completely overshadowed in the beginning. Fortunately, when the 3 notes balance out an hour later, it becomes quite nice, but still not worth the $650! As rosewood goes, it's not as good as Palissandre d`Or, and as rose-oud goes, it's nothing extraordinary. *This brand has completely went downhill because they were too stupid to realize people will see through the faux-luxury price at some point...so most of their stuff is dirt cheap online now :)

@calvin actually I think it’s because of their inexplicable habit of giving their perfumes names that have absolutely NOTHING to do with the scent inside. I don’t understand this marketing tactic at all, it’s extremely stupid. People will be disappointed with their perfumes not because they aren’t good, but because they aren’t at all what they were expecting and quite possibly is instead something they hate. I’ll never understand why some houses give their perfume very specific names only to smell absolutely NOTHING like their names describe. It seems obvious to me that this is a recipe for disaster. How hard is it to just call something what it is? Le labo does this as well although maybe not quite to the extent of some of these but still, that’s kind of their “thing” and it’s incredibly irksome.
