Tomato Leaf

Wearing Illuminum's tomato leaf is a wonderful experience as it is so unique and compelling. The top notes are divinely green and vegetal with the almost acrid smell of the tomato leaf and the carrot seeds. It conjures up the image of the fuzziness of the tomato plant to the point where you can actually smell it. This phase is very short lived, lasting only about five minutes before the florals come into play. The combination of the freesia, osmanthus and jasmine are utterly divine and entwine themselves all around the tart green freshness of the tomato leaf, which, at this stage, is taking a back seat. This is the glorious heart of this beautiful fragrance. It stays this way through out the entire life of the fragrance. Rich, evocative and a tiny bit acrid. I do not smell any musk or vanilla in this scent, which are the base notes. For me, that is a blessing, for I am not fond of either. They are surely there, but so perfectly balanced and blended, my nose cannot detect them. Michael Boadi labelled this wonderful potion as unisex and I truly believe it will wear incredibly well on either gender. It is neither too floral or feminine nor is it too green or earthily masculine. It is just downright perfect! Sillage is moderate Longevity is long lasting at 8+ hours 10/10

This is absolutely a not for everyone perfume. I had a sample which introduced me to the brand, and had to have it. { finally have a bottle!}. This is one which makes me laugh, like Piu Bellodgia, becaus3e its' opening note is such a surprise. I do like green perfumes, though have not found many I like, Givenchy III is the only one I can think of off hand. That said,, I do not think of this as a green perfume, though it most definitely smells like a tomato vine. ( I have 15 varieties in my yard). What grabbed me in this perfume is the jasmine, the most realistic I have encountered. I love jasmine, but hate most jasmine perfumes. Near all of them smell synthetic, or overly sweet. Tomato leaf gets jasmine right (and, as I have recently discovered, so do many of his others). Illuminum uses very high quality natural oils. I love almost everything I have tried in their line. This one, is very unusual, but interesting and most definitely natural.

Beautiful on my skin! Apparently this does not work on all skin types. A friend says that she gets a bitter sour smell, and it doesn't work for her at all. On my skin I get a super creamy, waxy jasmine, my favorite kind. You know - the thick bloom with husky prismatic petals. It is slightly mixed with other white florals, for a humid tropical evening feeling. Then underlying it all is the green tomato leaf note. When I first tried it, I dabbed it on, and actually didn't get much of the leaf. The white florals were so dominant. But after spraying, the tomato leaf was apparent. A crisp lovely green - so fresh! Just like picking one off the plant and putting it to my nose! It accentuates the waxiness of the jasmine and is an incredible pairing. The jasmine is so sultry that it is almost steamy. To add the touch of garden freshness as a counterpoint underneath is brilliant! A new LOVE!

Very crisp, vegetable freshness at first. Definitely a mood brightener. Then it softens, and the beautiful floral notes blend with vegetale ones. Also, green sharp notes are there. When saw this bottle and the name, I had to sniff it. I didn't think I'd like it, but I kept smelling my wrist. Great quality and long lasting. I could still smell it eight hours later.

I adore the opening, so fresh and realistic: Tomato Leaf! So perfect for a walk with my dog in the woods on a hot day. I find it ultimately uplifting, the only regret -if that- to have to repeat spraying after a couple of hours to get that wonderful opening again. Yet, I love the 'aftermath' as well, a very kind and tender combination of shy but characteristic flowers. I can easily imagine this must be wonderful for hot holidays and as I am planning one to Italy in September, I may have to purchase a decant for this purpose alone!

The tomato leaf is there for a millisecond in the first spray then instantly vanishes, leaving behind a fresh shampoo scent that lingers (generically pleasant) for hours. Really disappointed as tomato plants have such a vibrant, exciting, summer smell, I was hoping for more from this perfume.

unfortunately, i couldn't really smell the tomato leaf note in this. this reminds me of memoire d'une odeur by gucci, i wouldn't call it an exact dupe though. any green and floral notes in this fragrance are overwhelmed by the powdery notes. it has a sweet kind of plant smell almost (but not quite) like chamomile. the overall scent is like a very medicinal-smelling soap which i wasn't into at all. this definitely isn't a unisex fragrance, it's rather feminine and i couldn't imagine anyone under 60 wearing this.

Tomato leaf is my favorite note, so I was terribly excited when I found this somewhere and could finally test it. I am happy to report that I won't ever be tempted to buy it. On a paper strip, this smelled very green, bright, and medicinal, and really not so much like tomato leaf. On my skin, on the other hand, it stank of cloves or some other spice. It was terrible and by no amount of imagination made reference to tomato leaves. A pity for Illuminum and a fortune for my wallet.

Smells like luxurious shampoo/conditioner in a 7-star hotel! I did not know what to expect when I first read the name of the perfume. Upon sniffing it, I get hit by a fresh smelling bazooka that is actually quite interesting. It might have a slight tomato leaf aroma to it but a much sweeter kind than expected. It smells slightly synthetic and is suitable for spring and summer mornings. The longevity and projection are excellent, and the first two hours smell of this fresh sweet halo around the sprayed area that comes alive with some white florals. Then after two hours it smells like milky orange popsicles and it definitely lasts more than 24 hours. Not a very common fresh floral. Interesting.

Two Words: Get Familiar. Don't be spooked by the name. Trust me, I had my reservation as well. This is a go with the flow type of perfume. Tomato Leaf is more green than anything. The aforementioned green is cucumber-like with a slightly scratchy sensation albeit, high pitched in its vibration and joined by the animalic wafts of jasmine. The compilation of white floral and green creates a 100% Sandal/Flip Flop kind of aroma...Unisex? You be the judge. As for my opinion, 35 percent man/65 percent woman. I wore it and was absolutely comfortable but each is own. If you choose to sleep on Tomato Leaf, I pity you. Enjoy the rest of your nap.

Iconic and modern fragrance, illuminum tomato leaf is a great unisex fragrance, the opening is definetly green, but it dryes down pretty quickly giving space to the flowers and to a vanilla end, that i detected after about an hour,,, unfortunately i wore it twice and it gave me a terrible headache, it must have been the vanilla, which is a shame because it could have been perfect for the summer. Overall very high quality, unsual, modern and fizzy, winner 100% 9/10

Is there heliotrope in this, though not listed? It's a powdery, non-defined hotel toiletry item smell. Not unpleasant, not memorable. Longevity scarce. The tomato leaf barely perceptible though there, not worthy full bottle in my opinion. But maybe it is because I have previously owned incredible concoctions containing that note. The powdery aspect of this fragrance does not marry well with green notes. I am using my samples as ambience scent.
