White Datura

I am getting to really like this brand. I blind bought this as a backup, because the comments on Angel's trumpet were kind of weird, and I blind bought that too, since shipping to the US is so high...., While I did not find Angel's trumpet at all weird, this resembles it only in that they are both white florals. White Datura is a classic powdery white floral. It is very well blended and classy. If I didn't know I would think it were a Guerlain, though I can not put my finger on which, I do not get Shalimar at all. The closest of the Guerlains I have is Mahora. White Datura smells like summer in my yard. (I live in Hawaii and grow jasmine, several varieties of gardenia, and my neighbor has datura). I can see wearing this during the day. It is polite enough for office wear, but polished enough for a night out. Illuminum uses really high quality oils. Several that I have now have the most realistic jasmine I have ever found in a perfume, and the very first time I have found gardenia well done (and I do not have white gardenia petals). In White Datura, the jasmine is noticeable but not overpowering. It is sufficiently well blended I can not pick out a lot of individual notes. {I find that easier in Angel's trumpet}. This really is a lovely perfume, and, I think, a safe buy for those who like white florals. I generally do not go for things which are overly floral, preferring spice. This has shot to the top of my list, as white florals go. I now have 4 of his perfumes and wish I had not used so much restraint on my recent order. This is my favorite new perfume house, since I discovered Nocolai.

It's a sophisticated and wearable take on datura. I can definitely detect all listed notes, especially at the opening. Pink pepper is pungent, mixes with citrus, soft wood and what I'd identify as white musk. After a while it dries down to a gently spiced vanilla. The vanilla here is very different to ordinary sweet vanilla, which is probably the white datura in the background. It's so simple yet so unique. I think it a great perfume, just as the line is described: stylish and simple, no nonsense perfumery. It reminds me of the warm, grey summer day I received it three years ago. The clouds looked dark and heavy against the lush, deep green leaves of the trees. The smell of rain and thunder in the air. I will always associate it with that particular English summer day. I gave it to a friend back in time, only because she loved it and I had far too many perfumes, but now I miss it and will order a bottle straight after writing this review.

Beatifully balanced citrucy notes with the flowers, would not say floriental, on the contrary uplifting, very big headspace and great longevity. Cannot really smell the pepper but all the other ingredients are clearly detectable. I would say it's very confident fragrance, not sweet, perfect for every occasion. On top of that, the whole story of the datura flower it's vy interesting and inspiring, and it gives the fragrance a very intriguing twist. Definetly a winner 8/10 Ps: it does remind a bit Dune by Dior, but with twice the quality and without that 80's kind of taste...

Well, I am impressed. I was not sure what to expect with the name White Datura as I grow this hypnotic fragranced flowered tender shrub. Its not a bad stab of recreating the fragrance but it is infinitely more wearable. Gorgeous white floral that is sweet and citrusy as well. I get lots of lemon and orange with the sweetness of vanilla. I get some jasmine and the pepper comes into its own on the dry down. The citrus notes really dominate on the whole and last a long time through the scents life span. Moderate sillage and longevity.

Very feminine and sweet. The pepper barely spices it up, though it's a nice enough vanilla-floral. Not my thing and so I scrubbed it off after ten minutes. On someone else it could be nice.

Very Powdery! Not a fan of powdery, so not for me.

Interestingly enough, while Keiko Mecheri Datura Blanche reminded me of Christian Dior Hypnotic Poison, the opening of Illuminum White Datura reminds me of Addict! Unfortunately, I don't seem to have a sample around, so let's just say that upon application, Illuminum White Datura reminds me a lot of my memory of (vintage) Dior Addict. A spicy white floriental is the bottom line here. In fact, this seems like a wintertime perfume to me, so I must have lucked out that our weather is the coolest today in weeks. The rain was on and off all day yesterday and last night, so the trees are shimmering with rich wet green leaves, and the temperature is in the sixties--or so it seems. The spiciness in this composition seems to involve some cinnamon, although pink pepper is listed as a note. Perhaps pink pepper mixed with vanilla produces a cinnamon-like effect? I'm pretty sure that it is that precise effect which is calling to mind so strongly (and I do mean strongly--because this potion has big sillage and serious tenacity) Addict. As White Datura dries down it begins to remind me a bit of Dior Dune and Penhaligon's LP no 9 for her. I definitely recommend White Datura for testing by anyone who likes floriental perfumes in the spirit of Dior Addict and Dune and Penhaligon's LP no 9 for her. If you don't like those sorts of compositions, then I'm pretty sure that you will not like this one. On the other hand, if you do, this might be a true love.

This reminds me so strongly of something but for the life of me I can't think what. It's driving me crazy! A reviewer below me said Dior Addict, but I checked and that's not it (to me anyway). I hope I figure this out. Anyway, this one isn't for me. It's got a very 80s vibe to my mind. It's all Joan Collins, big hair and shoulder pads. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but it's not my cup of tea. It's just too much for me. Definitely floriental, but I see it as predominately animalic. I couldn't wear this for long as it was giving me a headache, so I passed my sample on to a friend, who loved it. I still found it far too brassy even smelling it on someone else, but she declared it to be soft, floral, feminine and powdery. I agree with powdery and I suppose feminine, but I don't personally see it as soft and floral at all. If you like this powerhouse sort of fragrance, this could work for you as a nighttime statement scent. It seems to have fairly strong sillage and although I scrubbed after an hour, my friend said she got 7 hours longevity out of it. I think this is one of those love it or hate it kind of perfumes. There's no room for middle ground with it.

Is it me or does this smell like Shalimar in the drydown? I get the same citrus and vanilla-esqe notes that I do from from Shalimar and the only difference is,is that Shalimar has more depth and staying power. Also, the opening is slightly different ad white datura takes a while to settle and make up its mind about how exactly it will develop on your skin and, that's approx 5- 10 mins, before all the notes come together. So what you get: is a slightly screechy, animaliac, floral composition which sadly isn't me. But I'm glad I've tried it as I understand it was the SOTD for the Duchess of Cambridge to Prince William and I can see that it would have been perfectly fitting for that time and occassion as it's safe. Perfectly safe and inoffensive. But, as for me. I'll stick with Shalimar.

White Datura is a lovely approach to the "fatal flower", the datura. I will agree with the previous reviews, it does remind me of Dior's Dune and Penhaligon's LP 9. I can't see the similarity to Dior's Addict , I clearly smell neroli in Dior which I can't detect here. White Datura starts with a wave of citrus and pink pepper . After the initial blast of spices and pepper I clearly detect jasmine and bitter datura. The drydown is bitter sweet datura vanilla combination which works lovely on my skin . Very nice quality and good lasting power .

This is a beautiful scent! I kept wearing it this summer and a half of the bottle are already gone! It is not too sweet nor loud, just nice mysterious Floral. I got a plenty of Citrus-Spicy kick out of it, too. Since this Datura is so beautiful I wonder if other Datura perfumes work well with me. My hubby thinks this is very nice on me and he also wants to wear it. I guess it can be unisex? Nowadays, I prefer slightly feminine perfumes for guys, like this or Dior Homme.

Hopping on the bandwagon here by stating which scents this has elements of: Take CK Sheer Obsession and blend it with Lancaster Eau de Concentree , then add a touch of Dior's Dune and, finally, wham bam some white florals - you've got this. It's pretty potent and has good lasting power too. Very fresh, somewhat resinous with a spicy element - smells of a nice quality.
