Temptation

My impulse temptation (uk, bought a few years back but was available decades ago and still is available) says vanilla and peach on it. It is also a white bottle with a light orange picture on it. So it is obviously different to this temptation even though it is called the same. This could lead to some confusion. I dont know if its different in different countries. This was 'ooh this is really nice' at first sniff. I dont think I had any money on me at the time as I was younger. Many years later I recall it was something beginning with T ..so tease or temptation. I tried my mums twase which was 'meh-like' (they really should have and 'indifferent' option on here, not just like, love, dislike. But I found this one had something special about it. I dont feel its your run of the mill fruity, artificial or powdery body spray. All I know is that it says vanilla and peach but I think there is more to it. Anyway, I recommend trying this version if you see it. Theyre only £1 on offer at the moment in some uk stores. Also, other perfumes Ive tried, people only notice when they either come in the room or close to me, and sometimes they dont notice it at all. My mum was upstairs and said she could smell it. I only did 2 very short sprays. So it has more projection than any perfume Ive tried. Longevity not too bad. It dies down a bit to be a bit more powdery. Not overly sweet. Id like to add that I'm 30 if that affects anyones view!

Oh wow I can't believe this is on Fragrantica! This was my absolute favourite Impulse fragrance when I was 13/14 years old. I have back-up cans from the 90s that I still smell occasionally. The scent takes me right back to my early teens. Oh dear, 30 years ago. I haven't smelled the current version but was excited to see there is one as I thought it disappeared years ago. This scent was actually the reason I originally bought Sublime by Jean Patou. I caught a whiff of something very familiar from a lady in my belly dancing class. It strongly reminded me of my old Impulse love, although not quite exact. I've never found anything exact. She said it was Sublime, which I then bought and still also love. I have Temptation on one wrist now, Sublime on the other - there's definitely significant overlap, Sublime has 3 of Temptation's 4 listed notes, rose, amber, musk. But Sublime doesn't have the same time travel effect on me like my Temptation. Interestingly, Impulse Illusions also has rose, amber and musk, and was also developed by Ann Gotlieb, but I don't remember it being all that similar. Must retest. Off all the Impulses, this one stood out for me as having a real sophisticated feel. I would be happy even now to wear this to a big event.

Another gorgeous body spray! I was addicted to this one and always kept a back up of it. Fantastic accord of tangy and sweet florals and very feminine.

OMG! Does it still exist?? That awful stinker from '80s that of course I used to wear avidly like so many others! We didn't have much back then and we couldn't afford pricey fragrances. In 1986 I was one of the few to know the Guerlains, the good old vintage Guerlains! Anyway Impulse Temptation was much more affordable and more into the crowd of clumsy teenagers trying hard to seem attractive! Among all these deosprays it was one of the best smelling, but people wore way too much and it became so unbearable! That commercial was often on TV and now it makes me laugh so loud! It was a weird era, not happy but full of hopes for a better future. Temptation was part of that feeling of hope and tender naivety for life. Going out, seeing the world outside that small suburban environment, meeting smart people... I used to wait for the bus early in the morning to go to school and we were 4 girls in the winter fog and white freeze, completely frozen but hey! we smelled like Temptation!

It says "Vanilla & Peach" on the package/bottle but I see no peach note listed here... Why? Anyway, it's a fair mix of rose and amber with a musky base and hints of peach. I think this is a... Complete scent/fragrance. I get the idea and I think all the notes are connected in a pleasant way. However, I don't find it too suitable for me but if I would, I'd probably love it. For now it's just a strong Like. I recommend this for those who like amber, musk and rose all together.

I remember that commercial! "When a man you've never met before...suddenly gives you flowers, THAT'S Impulse!" Everyone and their sister was wearing this in the late eighties. I always assumed it was another Parfums de Coeur "knockoff" (if you like Eternity...you will love ETERNALLY), but it seems I was wrong. It WAS quite the "thing" back in the day, and I remember many girls in high school wearing this (and Malibu Musk). It had a very clean but sexy, almost powdery, scent with some sweetness and alluring feminine florals in it. It was affordable and smelled much richer than something that came in a spray can. It projected well (I could smell it in the halls) and lasted all day (unless those sneaky gals had cans in their purses and sprayed on too much) and I can honestly say that I would not mind smelling this today...if it were still around! The memory of the commercial is something I still never forgotten and can say THAT sentiment (idea) is still burned in my brain to this day...and I love giving flowers to strangers!!

This was my favourite smell from my early teen years, all the way up until it was discontinued in my twenties. I'm still sad that it was many years later, and I still yearn for a bottle. Even now that I have the money for more expensive perfumes, what I wouldn't give to have a good spray of this and relive the days of my carefree, naive youth. Recently found that they have re-released O2 as a 'throwback' scent and I bought a bottle of that just to remind me of times gone by. I always kept a bottle of both. It barely lasts an hour on clothing, but that's not really the point.

Oh my goodness, the way down the memory lane. I have been wearing this in high school. I guess I overused it, because family complained. I was enjoying sweet scents then, I guess. When I checked it out lately, it really reminds Tresor by Lancome. Great dupe if you are on the budget. It smells of rose and vanilla without any sugar or berries that destroy so many deodorants. Old but gold thing.

I still have Temptation. It's very similar -or at least complimentary- to Lancome's Tresor (original formula). And you know what, you can't simply spray your feet with the vintage juice in this age of reformulations. *Migraine safe.
