Altum Magnis

Altum Magnis was launched in October 2021, together with Lumière Enchantée. They open the season of six launches of the Match of Senses line, which was launched in 2019 and had, as a goal, to reach a collection of 10 authorial perfumes. Altum Magnis is classified by the manufacturer as a woody-spicy perfume that combines the classic and the contemporary. Its fragrance has head notes of Sicilian lemon, rum, juniper, blood orange, and saffron. In the body, notes of cardamom, tonka bean, patchouli, rose, and mate fuse on a base of cedar, cashmeran, leather, and sandalwood. Altum and Magnis are Latin words that mean, in English, deep and great, respectively. When put together, the translation changes to “Sounds Great”. This time, the color chosen was gray, known for conveying neutrality and elegance. Once sprayed on the skin, the fragrance reveals its spices. It is important to be clear that the lemon and orange notes do not make this composition something citrusy or more succulent. Quite the opposite! Immediately, a leathery effect appears and is accompanied by evident almond nuances. The output of Altum Magnis belongs to the notes of saffron and rum, which create a complex and refined accord, with a woody and, at the same time, semi-gourmand appearance. In fact, unlike Origine Un, this fragrance sells itself in the first moments. Without much fanfare, the body brings an incredibly aromatic and spicy content, in which the mate note reinforces the greener aspect of the cardamom. The tonka bean shines with its creaminess and, surprisingly, the rose – delicate and feminine – is noticed among so many ingredients full of virility. Altum Magnis could end its evolution here and it would already be a beautiful fragrance. But it goes further and reveals more intensity, more leather facets, and even greater creaminess, covered by a layer of robustness. At this point, your mind has already listed several fragrances that, probably, were part of your collection (or wish list), such as Body Kouros (YSL), Au Masculin (Lolita Lempicka), among others. And if you identify with this olfactory path, then you will enjoy this perfume a lot. The truth is that Altum Magnis has that kind of fragrance that could list more than 300 ingredients, as in the compositions of 40 years ago, that we would believe. It exudes a lot, has no nuances that seem artificial and the performance is impeccable. I only disagree with those who find the fragrance very evident in leather, when, in fact, the oriental content is much more evident. For contractual reasons, they cannot reveal the perfumer's name, but if they told me that this fragrance was created by Annick Menardo, I would believe. Altum Magnis doesn't sound great. It's great!

Who is the anonymous idiot that keeps adding fragrances that has some offensive word in the name to the "This perfume reminds me of" section of ALL the Brazilian fragrances? I bet it's a Brazilian alright, after all who else would do that. How can someone have so much time in the life to do absolutely nothing but disrespect the hard job of other people? You should be ashamed of yourself.
