Zum Mist Frankincense & Myrrh

For me, frankincense has a connotation of not Christmas or church, but balmy summer nights. When I was a child, my mother would burn globs of frankincense on those little charcoal tablets while we'd sit out in the yard until late at night, talking with friends. So this is a perfect summer perfume for me. Every autumn, my friends and I go to a huge Renaissance festival. There is a little stall there that sells perfumes and incense. They always have multiple sticks of incense burning and little globs of frankincense and myrrh sizzling on charcoal tablets. This smells very reminiscent of that, though perhaps less smokey. It makes me look forward to that festival, the highlight of the season. So for me, this is the perfect autumn scent. This perfume oil is so deep and warm and resinous, it is impossible to be cold while wearing it. It wraps you in a deliciously soft blanket of scent. It is the perfect dark, warming scent for winter. And, of course, the wise men brought frankincense and myrrh to the Christ child. I don't really have a story for spring, but I love it and wear it just as much in that season. This is my comfort scent. As far as notes go, it smells pretty much of frankincense and myrrh, not surprising as it uses mainly essential oils to get its fragrance. I have the perfume oil roll-on instead of the spray version shown here, I also have the massage oil and the laundry detergent. Which are both excellent, and all three smell the same. This has a tiny bit of what could possibly be construed as a lemony note, but I think it's really just the bitterness of the myrrh manifesting as a little sour in the beginning. This is a deep, spiritual, resinous, dark, hippie perfume in my esteem. For the full effect, it should be worn with traditional Thai harem pants while doing yoga. 9/10

I would have to say that Zum Frankenscense and Myrrh is my favorite out of the whole Zum fragrance line. This frag has major silliage and longevity. I use the spray on myself, my linens, my dogs and in the Laundry. I use the Zum line's laundry detergent and use the hair and body spray on the wool dryer balls when doing laundry. It is very potent, so you dont need alot. Speaking of alot, I gave my big hippy brother a bottle of this for Christmas. My 78 year old brother is a long haired, bicycle riding only, naturalist, Eastern medicine embracing man whom has worn Patchouli for 50 years. He fell in love with Zum's F & M when he smelled it on me. So on Christmas day, just before we headed out for dinner at a Mexican restaurant (I should also mention that my brother lives in Hawaii and I was visiting him for Christmas), he sprayed himself from head to toe. I tried to stop him, as you dont need much of this and it lasts forever...especially on clothes. Anyway, after our Mexican feast, a man and his wife approached my brother. I was too far away to tell what they were talking about, but my brother hugged the guy. I figured they knew each other because he has lived in Hawaii for 50 years and raised a son there who is almost 50. Both my brother and nephew are former professional surfers and know almost everyone on the island. I asked my brother who the guy and his wife were and he said, "I dont know? He just stopped me to say that I smelled really good and wanted to know what the frag was!" I have a theory...if a woman compliments another women about her hairstyle, make up, clothing, accessories and such, you know it's got to be good. And the same goes for men. So if strangers approach you, compliment you, and even give you a friendly hug, you know you must be doing something right.

Opens very citrusy, I think orange. The fizzy citrusy-cola sparkles denote myrrh. Intensely myrrh forward with a tad bit of smoky incense in the base that becomes more noticeable after a few hours. There is an undercurrent of bitter herbs; lavender, and maybe rosemary, as well as a subtle touch of patchouli. More dynamic than I initially thought. Indigo Wild aroma blends contain a mix of natural materials and synthetics. In all likelihood we will never know. For a body mist it lasts a long time, I want to say about 6-8 hours. The myrrh projects well, the incense stays close to the skin. It's smooth & natural-smelling, I keep getting compliments from perfume-hating family members. I don't understand the comparisons to YSL Opium. Myrrh, yes, but Opium is quite a complicated animal. Famously bombastic, dense as a brick, with eight hours of progression... Fruits, florals, woods, spices, balsams, musks... This oil blend is comparatively demure and calming. A gentle, sweet, and uncomplicated experience. Down to earth, metaphysically. More like Youth Dew: hippie edition. Affordable and fantastic, a true diamond in the rough. I can't wait to try more mists from Indigo Wild, they've released several that aren't in the database. Edit: Calyx93 is correct. I just received the roll-on oil version of this for Christmas. It's even better than the body mist; deep, rich, and smooth, I'm in olfactory heaven. I hope the brand never discontinues this blend!

The possibilities are endless. Body mist, hair scent, car freshener, closet/room spray, purse/luggage refresher, I spray this stuff all over my life. It lasts and lasts, enchanting all the while. For under $10 I can get a 4 oz. bottle of this and it must be doing something right because hot damn does it generate some compliments everywhere I go. Many people randomly say "SOMETHING SMELLS GOOD" in my direction. To which I smile but only give away my secret if asked point-blank "what are you wearing!?" Some people smell incense and sweet patchouli notes during the lengthy dry-down. Some people smell high-class grooming products and that powder-fresh aura. But what do *I* smell??? I smell like someone who listens to jam bands all day, goes stargazing at the beach, wears love beads, works in a head shop selling incense and glass novelties, casts love spells in her spare time, and collects rare books of hidden knowledge. It's divine.

This is a holy grail scent for me. I wear it a lot and have gone through 3 bottles of the spray already. I keep one on my desk and one at home so I have it at the ready. Anyone entering our office (I'm a receptionist) always comments on how great my little area smells. One of my co-workers always steals a spritz or two when she's covering my desk for my breaks because she loves the smell. It's warm and cozy, like a big crocheted blanket cuddled around you on a stormy day as you sip tea and stare out the window. It also reminds me of church (I'm Catholic) and so I can bring a bit of that sacred feeling with me wherever I go. If you like classic spicy orientals, I highly recommend this. It is reminiscent of Opium, Youth Dew, Shalimar, incense - though this is more "controllable" in my opinion as you can use just a bit and not overwhelm, whereas the others come out swinging right out of the gate.

We always have at least four bottles of this in the house. It is strong enough that you only need two sprays in most rooms, and one spray is quite generous in a small room. I have been using it as a home fragrance for several years, alongside the laundry soap of the same scent. I spray my husband's clothes with it if I feel the soap hasn't left enough scent. It is at once bright, rich, and sweet. Slightly too masculine-leaning for my taste on my person, but interacts so perfectly with my husband's skin chemistry that I can't get enough. It is a consistent compliment-attractor for him, too, and people who visit my home also like the smell. I will have to get him the roll-on. ETA: Indigo Wild has stopped making the roll-on, Eau de Zum. Makes me sad. This is such a perfect scent on my husband but the spray bottles are too cumbersome.

If you like earthy, more “hippie” type fragrances this one is amazing. I used to buy a bottle of this every few months from the co-op in high school, I would spray it on my hair and my sheets and my clothes and anything I felt like. For a cheap essential oil mixture, it’s pretty strong and might be overwhelming to some. I’m personally attached to this one because it was my signature scent for years, but I do really recommend it. It’s feminine but not flowery, clean and powerful, kind of delicious and mysterious. Reminds me of autumn and sweaters, folk music and nag champa incense, and if you’re a smoker this blends well with the scent of cigarettes on hair and skin - covers it up a bit while making you smell like a smoky incense treat.

Zum Mist Frankincense & Myrrh smells like clean skin after sweating and then rinsing. It has this dry, airy clarity that doesn’t clash with body heat and never turns sour; instead, it seems to enhance your natural scent, which is why it works so well for the gym or after a shower. The resinous warmth is present but never heavy, sweet or smoky, more like a quiet hum beneath the skin. It’s hard to define because it isn’t floral, musky or traditionally “clean.” Rather, it feels like an abstract atmospheric scent, more a state of being than a composition: clean, grounded, slightly meditative human skin. Nondescript in the best way, yet strangely addictive, like your body at its most balanced and quietly alive.

Never in a million would I believe a spice scent too strong for my skin yet this one could be it. However, I just won't give up on it and this coming fall I'll put it to the test again. ZF&M is incense to the nth degree yet there is still a citrus and powder aspect which sweetens the whole. ONE spritz packs a mighty punch and leaves a resinous cloud in the air (or on your clothes, your linens, and certainly your skin). Last year I kept it in the bathroom for guests...ahem...and it seems they liked it very much. Everyone does. My friend recently gave me real frankincense and myrrh to burn and I can attest that Zum's likeness measures up and then some and any true incense and spice lover must obtain it.

I have been using essential oils for many years especially for aromatherapy. I saw a friend at church one day and she smelled SO GOOD I had to ask her what fragrance she was wearing! She wears expensive fragrances so I thought it would be one of those, but she told me it was Zum Mist Frankincense and myrrh. I had not heard of it so I was on the hunt to find it. I have used up several bottles since then and I absolutely love it so does my husband and we both wear it. It is warm, and rich smelling, sweet and spicy to my nose. Much more complex than the 2 notes listed here. And it does last about 4-6 hours easily. Moderate sillage. I find myself wearing this in fall and winter.

My mother used to get the actual frankincense and myrrh resins when I was a child and burn them at the holidays. Now I wear this most often during that same season, feeling the sense of the sacred draw near for a while. It also reminds me of Easter services at Orthodox churches, where the fragrance of this pair combines with pure beeswax. The sillage is powerful, and one light spritz and I smell like incense all day; it also works well as a linen and clothing spray. It is dark, mysterious, sexy and sacred at the same time.

Such a bargain and smells so good - been using this for years now. Fans of this need to seek out the oil in the huge roll-on they sell as you'll probably not find it at Whole Foods or other places their products are commonly sold. It's twice as strong/intense, twice as rich and lasts twice as long. Great for carrying around too rather than the spray. Heavenly.

Lovely, old, smokes, mellow and spicey. I have the roll on cologne which has just come out in December 2016. Wonderful longevity. Got my first comments in a lnnnnggg time wearing this. I might start layering with something sweet like Tuberose to mix things up. The longevity and the woody-spiciness of this is a great base.

This is strong and earthy, smells like quality natural ingredients. It's the same scent as their frankincense and myrrh soap, which is a classic imo. I spray this one in the linen cabinet in my bathroom (I don't mean this in a bad way- it's absolutely perfect for that,) but I would also love smelling it on a person.

Sweet, warm, resinous, witchy, yet infinitely wearable. When I say I want to smell like a Renaissance Faire, this is what I mean: an incense stall, a tarot reader's altar cover, a bejeweled censor. I use this as a body mist, on my clothes, linens, as a room spray, everywhere.

I have this and it is AH-MAY-ZING. I love to spray it around my bed before I go to sleep, and I also wear it as a body spray. It lasts pretty dang well both ways. I get this almost spicy, gingery/cinnamony scent and I absolutely adore it.

Didn't even know Fragrantica had these in the database. I blind bought Frankincense & Myrrh (F&M) from iHerb about a month back & gave it away while 95% full. Love the idea of these Zum Mist: natural oils, alcohol-free. Anyway, F&M was a meh for me. It's a little bitter & it is 90% myrrh. Myrrh, if you haven't smelled it, is a light, bitter, woody scent that has a strong "old time" vibe. It smells like something worn back in the early decades of the 20th century. Old man's scent, may I say. Note that myrrh does NOT smell like: oud, ebony woody, amber, incense, olibanum/frankincense/luban, nor opoponax. It smells completely different. I couldn't wear this on myself & didn't like it enough even as a room fragrance. My wife went even further & clearly said "I don't like it". I gave it away to someone who is 20yrs older than me because that's the kind of age group I feel you will most likely enjoy F&M. However, I really liked it as a product & I have ordered Orange-Patchouli and Sea Salt from them. Will review them when they arrive.

This company is local to my city!! Their products are everywhere and I've been buying their soaps for years. I've smelled most of their body spray collection and this one is my favorite. It smells so calming, resinous, slightly sweet, very much like incense. I spray it everywhere: my skin, my sheets, my room, my clothes. For a $10 body spray it works better than some perfumes I've tried that are 10x the price

The opening is a bit harsh and hard to tolerate but the dry down is heavenly. I also must admit that it smells better as it sits over a period of time. The last time I sprayed it was a few months ago and it had poor performance, less than an hour. Today is a humid day and I can smell it after 6 hours upon application. It's a nice mild sweet smoky scent that is perfect for any season.

I have the bath salts, room spray, candles, lotion, room diffuser and roll-on cologne that is like pure parfum; nice for after a bath or meditating; a bit too sweet; not incense in a smokey way; floral with deep pine cleaner scent and citrus, very very sweet and the myrrh but not like the cola ones; I guess incense doused in syrup and citrus

Maybe it’s just the name, but this smells like church to me. It is somehow both fresh and cold yet delightfully spicy and warm! Personally I love it but be warned IT IS EXTREMELY STRONG!!!!! The laundry detergent is great and leaves a more subtle version of this scent on your clothes

Good room spray, etc. I get more spices, including cumin, rather than frankincense or myrrh notes but I bet they’re in there. Good stuff!

Hmm this is not what i was expecting. This is very synthetic fragrant oil blended in water. It is powdery yet singes your nose because its sharp as well. Overall I find it musty, dusty, smells more like lavender, exactly like the inside of an very old neglected linen cupboard that has scatted lavender sachets and mothballs. I do not pick up frankincense at all, there is nothing "incense" about this, unfortunately a failed blind buy. Please try before buy.

I love this, but it’s insanely strong. Like an eau de parfum. DO NOT grab the bottle and start wildly spritzing yourself or anything else, unless you enjoy migraines. By the same token, this is ideal for deodorizing small spaces (teen lockers, bathrooms) that need significant help 😊 One spray on the body is plenty. That’s even too much for me, so I do the spray-and-walk-through method. The scent is myrrh-forward, with frankincense in a supporting role. There’s a citrus component on first spritz, almost like lemon furniture spray, but it fades fast. I would describe the scent as spicy, deep, earthy, woodsy, hippie, mildly sweet, and cola-ish. It smells more like essential oils than like incense. Don’t expect it to remind you of church. Smells more like the friendly folks at your local headshop. I can see some comparison to old-fashioned men’s colognes, but Frank & Myrrh hits different enough for me that I’m not bothered by it. It’s very warm, clean, grounding, and embracing. This and Amber are my favorite scents from Zum. All of their products are insanely strongly scented. The laundry soap will make the laundry room smell like an enchanted hippie forest.

I smelled this earthy witches brew of a fragrance one night on a friend. We were cloistered in the corner of a bar watching a show - too many sweaty, inebriated children up front- and probably waiting for cute boys to walk by. I kept getting a whiff of the aforesaid perfume, a mix of incense spice and powder. It fit my friend perfectly, all six foot tall, blonde, witchy glamazon that she was, and I wanted to at least smell her if I couldn’t look like her. I asked about it, and she handed over the perfume roll on for me to try. Well, I was smitten. It’s so seventies. I feel like Bianca Jagger would have worn this (if she couldn't find her Opium bottle) to ride into parties on her horse. I went out and purchased the spray and the oil. I’m not one for subtlety, so I bring it out for occasions when I want to exude extra strength and presence. Perk: Frankincense is excellent for protection, if you believe in all that metaphysical mumbo-jumbo, which I do. And, supporting small businesses is always a nice thing, especially when they smell this good.

I have had a large roll-on oil of this for quite awhile and just got around to trying it. I should've scanned the reviews first. I was rolling away thinking nothing was coming out but this is more of a dry oil that doesn't leave an oily trail which is a definite plus. Smells pretty potent and will, undoubtedly, be with me for the rest of the day/evening. Very pleasant earthy-type scent (hippy -minus- patchouli). The myrrh overpowers the frankincense but overall a great fragrance that is probably best suited for fall/winter. Although I have heard the same said about Fracas but I absolutely (and only) love that when it is hot and humid. To each his/her own.

Got this cause I love the laundry detergent they have in this scent. Smells like a cross between a Lush and a Whole Foods. This spray is quite strong and unfortunately has too much of the same soapy quality the detergent has. I was hoping a more unadulterated frankincense or myrrh scent would come through but this is still very much giving soap. It’s great for refreshing your space and giving it a clean laundry scent but I don’t think this translates well as a body spray on its own. I think I would repurchase if I didn’t find other room sprays I liked more

I can’t believe this is even on here! So when I used to smoke cigarettes this was my secret weapon to hide the smell. I would spray it before I walked in to see whoever I didn’t want knowing I was secretly smoking and they NEVER caught on. And I’m talking family members who definitely would call me out if they caught a whiff. So now years later it’s my family’s household room spray and it just does wonders at neutralizing unwanted smells. It’s very pleasant, non offensive, and never seems out of place. Clean, earthy, really amazing to keep on hand.

They are unfortunately nerfing newer batches to be weaker in strength. The oil color is a lighter and more translucent, it smells the same but performs weaker. Hate when companies cheap out and cut corners. This was my go to for masking the smell of weed and shit 100%. Now I just keep the spray around as a memory to when Zum mist actually gave high quality oils to us. This scent marks a time when I was in the beginning phase of my fragrance journey so it’s quite special to me.

This was a great blind buy, actually similar to Opium. It doesn't last long but for its longevity it is really wonderful, deep, smoky, warm. It made me interested in the other offerings by this house, on the other hand it would be too much to order even more fragrance. This is wonderful for this wintertime, meditative, peaceful. And although I know it doesn't mean much in terms of skin friendliness, I appreciate it being all natural.

For a body spray this lasts an impressively long time! I've smelled it 10+ hours in. The secret is to give it a good shake beforehand. It's warm, spicy, woody, and resinously sweet. One spritz warms me up and gives me cozy vibes, two sprays and I'm in spice heaven because it's playfully sharper and tickles the nose like fresh cut ginger or milled pepper would. Three sprays and you're entering migraine territory. Don't do it!

Finally broke down and bought this after sniffing all of them every time I'm in Publix. It's a dry, citrusy incense that lasts several hours. It smells like the best drydown elements of Youth Dew and is an outstanding bargain at $8. The patch and lavender are coming home with me next time.

This is beautiful - I bought it to use as a room spray for the holidays and will continue to use it - at least through the cool weather - on both room and body. It's gently spicy, woody, slightly sweet incense and it's gorgeous.

I layer this with Al-rehab Sultan al Oud and Jovan Secret Amber. Can 3 cheapies make a luxurious scent? Yes!

LOVE THIS ONE !!!! Great, everyday body spray with decent longevity!!! The bodywash is also FAN-tastic !!!
