Noir Encens

is truly one of a kind. There is genuinely nothing quite like it on the market, and I haven’t smelled anything that compares to it anywhere else. It is the most perfect blend of incense and black pepper though I’m convinced there’s a secret, unlisted note in here seamlessly binding the whole composition together, the black pepper is strong off the bat but dry down beautifully. What makes it special is how clean it feels. This isn't that heavy, suffocating, or overpowering style of incense. It doesn't lean traditional Middle Eastern; instead, it offers a refined, beautifully French take on the note. It’s smooth, sophisticated, and just ridiculously pleasant to wear, performance is average

Review in progress, please don't read; not complete. Note to myself: The notes listed here on Fragrantica are likely not entirely accurate. Noir Encens is a beautiful, "oriental" fragrance with a very resinous and sweet aroma; it's long-lasting and captivating. There's something very addictive about this fragrance. I find it most similar to Encens Suave from Matiere Premiere but much softer. The sample came from a purchase of Encore une fois.

7/10 Pas mal, linéaire et le poivre prend le dessus sur l'encens, il faut vraiment aimer ces deux notes et c'est mon cas. Performance plutôt bonne, tenue plus de 8 heures, et projection ça va.

This one is tough. When I first put it on, I hated it. Then I realized I could not stop smelling my hand. There is something very addictive about this fragrance. I definitely get the black pepper. I feel like this would be amazing when layered with something soft. I dont know, wanting to here what others think. I am going to keep wearing. I LOVE Entre Genres and Soleil D'Ikosem from this line and really dislike Encore Une Fois (the amber is to much).

I deleted my last review of this fragrance, because I thought it was too negative. I wanted to give it some more time to get used to and discover what is so special about it. Well... The design is fabulous, even the marketing strategy rings my bell. But the fragrance itself is boring and unpleasant. No black pepper, no incense. I hate to say it, but it does not get better. I almost want to get rid of the bottle, not to be constantly confronted with my mistake to blind buy this item.

I'm not sure I get what this trying to be. To me it's less peppery and more weirdly floral. It also doesn't last very long. Not offensive but not my speed.

This is really nice. It very much reminds me of the peppery resinous wood-chips in Le Labo's London exclusive Poivre 23. There's a mildly unusual sourness in the beginning- something a bit incensed and citrusy but round and muted, like the murmur of an animalic musk. That moment eventually fades and shifts into a peppery sweet incense with a soft, waxy texture that reminds me of of CDG's 2man, but more refined, comforting, and with less flourish. That they mention this is in the "avante-garde woody" family of scents seems right, but it still feels a bit classically styled with a delicate, soft amber quality you could find in a Guerlain scent, and doesn't enter into "church-like" incense territory. Otherwise very minimal. Unfortunately at $290 for 75 ml it's still asking a bit much, but it's still somehow cheaper than Poivre 23.
