Magnetic Blend 1

One of the most characteristic and unique compositions in niche perfume market, I am sure it has already made its own fun club or better said it's own cult by now. Something that came by inspiration as it is, without any concessions made for commercial purposes afterwards."Art for Art" by dictionary definition. But not for fainthearted or pleasent smell lovers no doubt.There are more than enough compositions for them. Yes, I need to warn you, it doesn't smell pleasent at all, it smells like dirty and forbidden things that you don't want your girl friend or your parents know that you are doing secretely. To me it smells like freshly made human excrement combined with dark antiseptic solution (iod) that you put on your wounds, mixed with heavily rusted can smell. Yes I know what you think, how such a crazy schizophrenic thing could ever be considered as a parfum. The first thing that I thought after trying it, was "Oh my gush, that could be used in agriculture industry to keep harmful animals away from cereal fields" but after 15 minutes I find myself sniffing my wrist over and over like a euphoric material injected rat.I am not in a state of olfactive maturity to buy a whole bottle yet (whenever I say it for a parfum, I go buy that bottle the following week btw :-p) but I am going to buy 3or 4 small samples to spray it on my wrist to sniff during the day secretely just for my own pleasure. Extreme longeivity with massacre sillage.

This is probably one of my few "endgame" fragrances in an intimate (even wearable) sense--this has some light cumin, ambery quality to it, but it lends to a somewhat clean dankness presented by the ambergris. This can be seen in a platonic playful way, or seductive leading sentiment with how these notes are balanced. Though it is a little more cleaner than I personally would want, it tends so much to a mildly smelly body odor/sweat direction rather than coming off as a 'safe' fragrance--it's something naturally familiar, but not too animalic. It also lends it self to layering since its not really clean/dirty learning, so I really appreciate that. It's not cloying, but it is a perfumed designed with an intent. You could say the simple ingredients given, that you are really just smelling the ambergris/amber/sweetness (barely sweet at all imo), but it leaves some room for interpretation (given that it's not cloying). If you are a niche fragrance seeker that likes the scent of sweat presented in a slightly clean, yet dirty, yet masculine manner, this fragrance is a MUST try. I would not say this is a safe blind buy, sample first.

Everyone says this is "poopy", but I love it! I happen to adore animalic, ambergris, and/or oud-based fragrances though, so I guess it's just me. In fact, it seems quite familiar - I feel like I have something else with this exact note, but I can't figure out what it is and it's really bugging me. My first though was Tauerville Amber Flash, but that's not it. MFK Cologne Pour le Soir? Kinda, but I think there's something else that's closer. Maybe a Tom Ford... it's not Amouage Epic Man as someone suggested. Maybe others can help figure it out... anyway, I like this and think it'd mix really well with my favorite from this house, Absolute Aphrodisiac, as well as with other sweet fragrances to give them an edge. Edit: I just tried a decant of this from what I presume to be a more recent batch, and it's completely neutered! It's the same note, but much softer. I'm not thrilled with the reformulation but I see the broader appeal of this one. Those who couldn't stand this before might prefer a newer batch.

Y'all are babies!! This is an excellent dirty, salty synthetic ambergris frag great for layering. This is amazing when paired with a bright or sweet frag to bring down the sweetness and give it some depth. I give this an easy 4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Gonna test this out tomorrow with Aventus Cologne, maybe now that frag will have character with this! ー🎅

At first, I thought it was too masculine for me. But I tried it à few times, and I tried it with Gourmand perfumes. It adds an interesting component. I find this perfume very sexy. It's smell a little dirty, sensual. When I were it with Gourmand fragrance men talk to me a lot more and also I feel sexy.

Magnetic #1 will take your dainty white florals to dirty new heights. It`s great as a fixitive resulting in increased longevity and projection. Not sure I`d go solo with this furry one. Reminds me of Marlou Carnicure which can be had for a fraction of the Initio price point.

I blind bought this due to all the hype or mostly hate around this fragrance. This must be skin chemistry dependent, as if any fragrance isn't skin chemistry dependent. I get salty, musky and a slight sweetness with this one off my skin. A light beautiful scent.

Pretty nice. This is not as dramatically challenging as some people are making it out to be; it has an animalic note, but it’s pretty moderate. Primarily, this is a super loud, modern woody amber fragrance. It smells abstract, or molecular, in the sense that it seems to be focused on singular synthetics rather than complex natural extracts or absolutes. It seems to be almost entirely base notes and maybe some lower heart notes. All of this indicates a focus on composing for performance rather than character, and is in keeping both with current trends and the Initio brand identity. I understand that this fragrance was partially or wholly marketed on a pheromone / attraction concept. For the record, there is zero substantial evidence for human pheromones, so please don’t buy this (or any other) fragrance based on a pseudoscientific marketing concept. Instead, consider whether or not you enjoy the way it smells. It's not for everyone. Magnetic Blend 1’s dominant voice is an accord of extremely loud and sharp woody ambers and wood resins. It’s moderately sweet and syrupy with light frankincense overtones. This note leans strongly metallic and mineral. Underneath this huge syrupy, metallic woody amber is a synthetic ambergris accord. This provides the animalic note in the form of a clearly perceptible dose of ambrinol, the molecule which is responsible for the commonly noted “halitosis” aspect of darker, younger ambergris. To me, ambrinol has a beautiful scent, but people who are particularly sensitive to animalic notes – or those who have not explored this side of perfume – may be initially shocked by it. If you are experienced with the complexities of ambergris, then this note will not challenge you at all. There is also an abstract white floralcy in play, slightly indolic, which may be an aspect of the ambergris accord coming out in the composition, or may be a separately constructed note. It’s pleasant and helps round out the composition. There’s also a mild soapiness that seems to be coming from the ambroxan, or wichever variant molecule they’ve used here. I believe the intention of this fragrance is to use modern, performance-based, on-trend construction methodology to address the idea of a Middle-Eastern “Ambar” ambergris-incense style perfume. I’m not at all an expert in that style, but this is the impression that I get based on what I know. For me, the most obvious point of reference to compare to this fragrance is Orto Parisi’s Megamare. This comparison mainly comes from the massive wall of metallic, syrupy, resinous woody amber molecules which dominate both scents. The basic concept is an overdose of a few simple molecules which are very loud, slightly sweet, and super metallic – to the point of almost being “hollow” smelling. It’s an aggressive design philosophy that will please some and offend others. Where this differs from Megamare is in the floralcy and the ambergris note. Where Megamare uses a couple of rose molecules to help push sillage, Magnetic Blend 1 goes for white florals, and much more notably. Megamare also keeps its ambergris note much cleaner, simpler, and more synthetic, where Magnetic Blend 1 goes for something slightly more naturalistic by including the ambrinol / animalic “halitosis” aspect of ambergris. Still, if you’re a fan of Megamare you will very likely enjoy this. If you like the ambergris aspect of Ramon Monegal’s Ocean Oud (a much higher quality fragrance than this, by the way) then you will probably enjoy this. If you enjoy natural ambergris perfumes along the lines of Anonim, Les Indemodables, or Papillon, then this may or may not be to your tastes, depending on whether or not you care for huge synthetic woody notes. If you’re at that level, you may already be way beyond Initio in terms of quality. Solidly positive plus; about 78% – just above my “would buy it” threshold.

IMO, this is a lot more ambar than ambergris, which is disappointing. I blind bought it because I found it for less than $150 in fragancenet. They still have a few bottles at the time I'm writing this. I was hoping it to be more animalic, but I just don't get the ambergris the way I can smell it in Encens Mythique by Guerlain: a bit salty and a touch pissy. It is however a beautiful scent from the first spray. I really don't get the reviews that find this repulsive. It reminds me a lot of Piguet's Bois Noir, only sweeter and without the bitter notes I get in Bois Noir. It's slightly incensey and woody, although incense is not listed as a note. I perceive this fragrance as an easy going oud. However I do enjoy animalic fragrances and what some people find "challenging", to me are perfectly fine to wear everywhere. It's early spring here, weather is slightly chilly still and I think performance increases with humidity and temperature, so better save this for Spring or Fall. If you try this in really cold weather, sillage will not be the best. I read it's meant to be used as a layering base, which I have yet to try. On it's own I like it, but most likely you can find something very similar for a better price tag.

I agree w FragranceWriter that if you shove your nose into this, anyone would say it’s fecal. With that advice, I smelled it a ways away from my wrist and for sure it doesn’t read as fecal. The first 10 min are still difficult to enjoy. However, the amber opens up a bit after that and I can see how ppl find this “light” and enjoyable, and even sweet. Ish. Which was hard to imagine when I first applied it. In fact, moving further away from it improves the smell drastically (and not just because you’re far enough away to not smell it; it actually reads kinda nice). As it develops, it’s very Initio-ey in a nice way. I’m actually enjoying it. I’ll report back during dry down. Drydown update: this shit (so to speak) smells actually pretty good now. The overpowering fecal smell is way in the background and the scent bubble I’m in is really pleasant. Considering the whole scent now from bottom to top, it seems well balanced and the formerly-offensive notes feel like they belong and are a good contrast; they’re reading as smokiness now. If you don’t scrub this one off, it developes into something actually pretty nice

Great for layering to add some dirty amber to sweeter fragrances for much more depth and complexity. I don’t hate it by itself but would never wear or recommend it for anything but layering. First try was with Xerjoff Italica and it smells so good.

I don't know why this is down as more masculine, it's completely unisex. Very similar to D&G Velvet Amber Skin, but a little less smooth and sweet. Quite nice, but I prefer D&G.

This is either real ambergris or a clever slight-of-hand. I haven’t smelt real ambergris, but I have smelled straight ambroxan, and this ain’t it. It could be a simulation of ambergris consisting of ambroxan plus a tincture of civet or hyrax. It has the same civet-y tooth rot note you find in Xerjoff Zafar and Navitus Oud Luxuria. What I’m learning from these sorts of encounters is that possibly none of the high-end slanky oud fragrances contain any real oud. The price alone bears this out, but now I’m starting to perceive the non-oud building blocks of my favourite oud fragrances. If you combine this accord with a clearly synthetic oud, I wager that the result will smell much closer to an authentic Ensar Oud oil (assuming those are also real). Any thoughts? P.S.: This scent smells like shit. Unwearable and unpleasant.

یک عطر خطی و سخت پسند شروعی صریح از رایحه ی انیمالیک که کاملا شبیه به فضای طویله هست رو حس می کنید که کاملا بالزامیک و تیز اجرا شده. رگه هایی آمبری هم توش حس میشه اما زیر فشار آکورد انیمالیک حرفی برای گفتن نداره و در حقیقت آمبر هم کاملا انیمالیک هست. در انتها کمی حس ماسکی و نیمه صابونی هم پیدا میشه اما بازهم آکورد انیمالیک حرف اول رو می زنه پوشیدنی نیست و بسیار سخت مورد پسند واقع میشه. من نیستم اش. ****************** scent:5/10 longevity:7.5/10 sillage:7/10 purchase value:4/10 ******** overall:5.8/10

Unfortunately not much going on here except somewhat synthetic smelling amber and ambergris notes. Very linear, unisex perfume with moderate sillage and good longevity. And really overpriced for what it offers. Easily skippable. Enjoy!

Terrible. All of the Magnetic Blends are God Awful.

Genuinely the worst smelling perfume I have ever smelled. Tonsil stones and morning breath condensed into a bottle. I feel bad for the people who were in the area after I tried spraying this on. I washed my arm 4-5 times and that reduced the smell by 80-90% where it was a very subtle scent. That was somewhat pleasant. I love Initio but oh my goodness this one's a miss, even for an animalic scent. Not a safe blind-buy at all. Please check with your skin chemistry.
