The Wolf In Sheep's Clothing The other day I was passing by a part of Milan for an errand, and being early, I stopped by a Marionnaud perfumery. There was a kind of totem with exposed some discounted fragrances up to 60%, and among those were several specimens of Intimacy line, to me hitherto unknown. Three of those were designated as feminine EDP, namely the Sheer, the Pink, and the Noir. One EDT instead was intended for a male audience, the Classic Man. Anyone who knows me well will know that I could not resist after having tried, and I promptly bought them. Today I will tell you about the beautiful atmosphere that Intimacy Men Classic arouses. It smells incredible with a lot of depth and manages to be fresh without feeling aquatic, sporty, or citrusy. To begin with, I would like to spend two words on the packaging. The box is a tawny brown with a silver band at the top containing the brand and recalls the design of the bottle it includes. An oval-shaped flask, half-transparent from which you can see the creamy green fluid inside and half-covered with brownish imitation leather, worked like the zest of a crocodile. A silver metal band engraved with the brand and the name of the perfume separates the two halves. The hefty metal cap topped with the same crock's leather is not magnetic but still guarantees a nice snap closure. Nuff said the cologne is fresh, crisp, smells like smoke as if someone had been smoking skinny cigars all day, yet it is neither weird nor off-putting. And that surprises me since the is no tobacco accord mentioned. The absolute protagonist here must be the black tea, which stands out with silky violet and cedarwood and hit pretty heavily upfront. Intimacy Men Classic opens with refreshing and sensual violet and bergamot notes — if the scent stopped there and maintained its fruity-green opening, I would be satisfied. But the cologne's opening is fleeting; a few moments after application, I feel the entire cologne has disappeared along with the top notes! After the surprising fade-out, nutmeg and pink pepper kick in, and these notes, not foody at all, take over. This spicy combo tweaks the nostrils and seems very popular in men's fragrances these days. Soon, the heart gleams with an attractive and charismatic hint of green basil leaf and a touch of star anise notes that make way for the zest of fresh cardamom. The violet is still lingering in the background, not dominant, yet resilient and lasting till the end. During the final stage, I smell a hint of modern, finished, and posh leather, and earthy blend of patchouli and vetiver, and the ruling but the pleasing aroma of cured tobacco leaves, but miserably I must put nose to the skin to discern these pleasant notes. The spicy notes eventually start to fade, leaving an excellent base of violet, moist tobacco, and dry cedarwood with its pencil sharpener vibe. The start is a bit harsh, but it dries down quite nicely. If the violet leaf, tobacco, and tea notes had been amplified, it would have been a more exciting scent. However, the hesitant and confident, overly smooth, and docile nature of Intimacy Men Classic places it comfortably on the mainstream. The most important notes of violet and tea bring a refreshing effect, with the spices acting as antagonists without melting much and in a constant state of push/pull. It is a fantastic frag-holistic masterpiece, so utterly calming and mouthwatering at the same time, and it could be a great all year round-scent. It shines in the spring, late summer, and early fall to the best of my knowledge. I admire the smell of this cologne, yet I noticed for me, the scent doesn't seem to last long. Everyone has different chemistry, and it reacts differently to each person. I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem? It has a smooth, discrete projection that is not overpowering when applied to the neck and chest gingerly, and though it has short longevity, it is ideal for wear to work or a night out.

I had bought this fragrance back in 2020 because I really liked the cardamom-heavy brother of Intimacy Classic called Intimacy Intense, but I hadn't worn it until today. Intimacy Classic opens up with pleasant, sparkly, lightly spicy woody notes, this combination with bergamot reminds me a bit of barbershop DNA but warmer and richer and even so fresh. Unfortunately, as @prine64 wrote, the fragrance does not last as long as I would like. This fragrance offers me 4 to 6 hours of longevity depending on the weather, in the field of sillage it breaks down to a skin scent within 2 hours. It is a pleasant scent, but I would not re-buy this bottle, in fact I will probably sell the bottle soon.
