Le Feu D'Issey Light

Le Feu D'Issey Light has one of the best bottle designs I've ever seen. It's also an accurate representation of the perfume itself; fiery and a spicy core, but softened by a milky, dewy veil. The opening surprises me every time I apply it. Anise and bergamot give the opening it's refreshing, sour and bitter bite; mahogany lends a smooth, woody touch. Rather remarkable is the rose that blooms amidst these aforementioned notes - it's very fragrant and full, but not prominent. I can't really make out the coconut, but I guess it serves to give the opening a bit of sweet- and fullness. After the opening has settled, almost immediately a very nice jasmine pops up along with the milk note, giving the fragrance a floral, milky edge. The milk note used in LFIL is of the warm, creamy, soft kind. It's really lovely and complements the rose really well. The rose is amplified in the middle stage, which makes it a bit more noticeable. Hortensia and caramel lurk in the background. After the middle notes start to fade, a very smooth sandalwood appears. It interwinds beautifully with the rose, jasmine, anise and milk. Cedar and guaiac wood amplify the woody impression created by the mahogany. If I concentrate, I can smell the slightest whisper of vanilla and amber in the drydown. The musk appears almost at the end of the ride, giving Le Feu Light a slight plushy feeling. It starts of quite strong in the beginning, projecting quite aggressively the first hour, but it dries down to a skin scent after about 2 hours. It lasts about 7-8 hours, which is long enough for me. To conclude: it is a really nice fragrance, worthy of all the hype. Try picking it up if you have the chance, you will not be disappointed. On a side note, it quite reminded me of Declaration D'un Soir. DuS is more spicy and woody though and obviously misses the milky touch, but lovers of Le Feu Light should still check it out.

Le Feu d'Issey light is a feminine frag, but, which is not frequent, it quite stands aside of any gender role playing, so it can as well serve as unisex. It is independent, original, it plays its notes like it wants to. None of the many and various notes is cliche or obvious - you smell rose but it never gets floral-romantic, you smell milk and caramel but before it gets sweet, in your face sexy or childish, you fall into woody notes (very noble here) that, on the other hand, never go too far in the rambo-neandertal masculinity that you meet in woody perfumes so often. Lovely perfume that will give you charm but won't take your wit away. Of course the original is much more interesting, but it's so hard to get it and prices are so absurd that I will easily content myself with ligh version.

I bought both Feu while in fashion college in Toronto at 19 years old. That was a wild time for me. And this was the perfect scent for that time. Many cold late nights, working, studying, playing, lots of boys and fancy clothes and fast cars and dangerous situations. I would get asked what I was wearing every day. There was nothing like it at the time. I’m a loud and firey person and this was the perfect scent. When those two bottles were empty and the line had been discontinued, it was a sad day. I now lean towards green scents to tone down my fire, but there is always a thought in my mind about tracking down a vintage bottle. I wish they brought it back. I’m going to try some similar ones soon.

I adore this perfume. I could never choose a favourite perfume as what I wear depends on my mood, what I'm wearing, the weather, even the seasons. But if I had to pick a signature scent this would be a top contender, I've used it since it's release in 2000. It is very nice on me and develops into a warm, ambery scent that hooks peoples sense of smell and makes them often lean in to ask what I'm wearing. I like the fact that the sillage is subtle as to me there's nothing worse than the smell of really strong perfume on someone that you can detect from 10 feet away.

Oh this is good stuff. A creamy, powdery sweet milk + licorice smell. I do get the whiff of citrus as mentioned; I would've guessed lemon. It's soft but not weak. It's warm but not stuffy. I could see this being worn year round. It's like a mother's hug and cuddly as a cashmere sweater. I am sad that it's discontinued but so happy to have discovered it and I'll keep and use my bottle sparingly. Quite the hidden gem, this one is. I've never tried the original but now I want to check out more fragrances with milk as a listed note.

Bright anise to open--fresh and green. Bergamot imparts its illuminating energy then spills its sour delight into a thin milky veil. A light buttermilk wash with an unblossomed, green floral tint. The drydown, a lacteous, green wood, gently spiced with the efflorescence of anise--like the tender, milky sap of a young, fertile tree. Very similar to Lanvin Oxygene without the warm pepper. Comforting with an unusual energetic serenity. Fresh, clean, uplifting, and yes, I'd like a full bottle please.

Countains: mandarine, cardamom, may rose, white lily, black pepper, solar note, milk accord, teak wood, oppoponax, white musk, amber. This scent is a rich peppery, warm, slightly flowery / ambery. The amber reign the perfume accompanied with the black pepper and just a breath of rose while the lily is the queen of the floral notes. From the start to finish, this scent has a warm sweetness to it. It's very unisex in my opinion. It's seductive and I real most try of a top list.

This is such a beautiful smell! I wish they would re-release this it brings back such good memories for me when i went to the gold coast when i was 12 with my mother and she would use this perfume. She still has a bottle back home that i sniff whenever i'm over. It's such a wonderful smell. if anyone knows of any similar scents please tell me :D i'm looking for the closest smelling one to this. The online prices are just redic.

This was my first perfume, 5 years back. i remembered one of my friend remarks about this perfume, she told me every time she walked pass my room she smell me! Every time she walk into my room she smell me! And she didnt know how to describe the smell. And she couldn't tell that it was actually a perfume smell. :)) A very nice perfume. definitely like sunshine in a bottle.

SUCH A SHAME THAT IT`s ONLY THE "LIGHT VERSION" AVAILABLE!!! I LOVED THE STRONG ONE, well, it`s a solace, that they did not take this one out of programme at least... this one smells not so unique like the strong one, but still unique, vanilla is the ground in the light version, that makes it a little bit more casual and able to wear on day...

do u know that smell when u came to pâtissier , that warm sweet smell, its soft,sweet,elegant and soo milky u know that smell when u prepare for cake? coconuts,milk,honey, how rich is that ..!! warm milk spilled on a table which is made of precious wood.. i like that expression ..!! its one of my next top list for sure, i luve it

My ex-boyfriend purchase this for me when it came out. Around 2002. And, I fell in love. It was only like $60 at that time. Because it is not longer sold, sellers on eBay are selling for close to $200. And I like it so much, I may fold one day. It was the perfect scent for a beautiful, spring day.

I love this perfume... the scent is suitable for tropical climate. One of the very few perfumes I could wear without giving me a headache or nausea. Wish I had bought another bottle! Hoping that Issey Miyake will bring this back!!!!

What an awful mistake to discontinue something like this 😭 loved it and my mam still talk about it a lot, unfortunately there are no other great perfume I would point out by IM this was about it.

it was the first scent i bought twice in a row. beautiful, delicate yet very unusual and striking. soft, milky yet fresh. i am sad the house moved to those headaches inducing watery things.

I LOVED THIS♥️ People used to stop me and demand to know what fragrance I was wearing. Much like Lancôme Magnifique I will never understand why it was discontinued so swiftly💔

Please bring it back.... When it was released, it wasnt a time to appreciate this masterpiece.... Cant love enough a perfume... It's divine!

Recently I tried Jo Malone Scarlet Poppy and I think it reminds me a lot about Le Feu D'Issey Light!

Big fragrant thanks to the generosity of Yurpdod, who was a fragrance angel by sending me a sample of this, the original Le Feu D'Issey, and a few other fragrances purely out of generosity. He sent me these samples after reading my review of Le Feu D'Issey, which I hadn't smelled in many years and smelling that was like a time machine for me. I had never smelled this one, and I quite like it to my surprise! It has similar character but it is unique as others have said here. I think it is a slightly more wearable version, which isn't a bad thing. It has that smokiness and milkiness of the original, but is more blended down in my opinion. Again, not really a bad thing but it isn't the same certainly. I really like the combination of notes in this. I get the anise and it is sweet but not cloying, and the bergamot really adds freshness which I love in my fragrances. I do tend to be a floriental lover so this has the complexity and edge, but is also feminine and pretty. I may have to see if I can get a bottle of this for a reasonable price, since the original Le'Feu is so crazy expensive and hard to get. I think there were way many more of these available on eBay last I checked.

Feu d`Issey is precious unisex work of art. To all of you who need taking a distance from floral - citrus all around, I recommend it highly. (Before I start describing it, I will say that Feu is entirely the same as Un Jardin en Mediterranee, only lasts shorter.) Lets not be deceived from milk, coconut and caramel notes, this is not gourmand heaven, or cake recipe instructions. Feu is heaven of peace. It is puffy clouds observed through airplane window ten thousand feet above ground. Morning face washing in the milky bath of hortensias, and tapping your self with warm soft towel. Feu is the boy with the magic flute, who sings away despair, fear and sadness. Beautiful, indeed.

Honoring the great Issey Miyake by wearing this beauty today. May he rest in peace. As far as the scent goes it’s very close to the OG, only lighter. I prefer the OG, but this is perfect for a warm day like today. They are both discontinued and I treasure every drop of them. Creamy, coconutty and subtly spicy and also far from mainstream, just like Miyake himself.

wow amazing scent:)! one pleasant surprise! elegant, warm 'n cozy. starts of nutty and musky; milky skin notes give the creaminess, and touch of woodsy notes blend perfectly. I find this fragrance to be quite unique. I will be repurchasing a bucket of this wonder!

A unique fragrance, pls give it back to me!

Musky rose sandalwood lotion. I wish I got any of the lactonic or anis notes other people did, but on me it does just smell like I put some sunblock or lotion on, sadly. I'm assuming either it's changed with age or it just doesn't inherently possess any of the weirdness of the original, or it doesn't shine on my skin chemistry, or any combination of the three.

No, no, no. It smels like the cheap bulgarian rose little bottles that i have when i was a kid. This is not Le feu. I want back my Feu. I'm crying... hic hic !!!

Whaat!? I didn't smell ANY of these notes listed! Maybe the tester has gone bad, because to me it was only pepper, pepper and pepper. Odd.

This fragrance is so sour! The anise note is the leading note for sure. So leading and so sour, that this fragrance is not my cup of tea.

I agree with PricklyAndHot. This perfume was to me like old milk. Sour, and not very pleasing. It never worked on my skin.

There is something quite captivating about Le Feu D'Issey Light. Despite the fact that it's a subtle fragrance, I completely understand why people love this so much. It opens so very lightly that I had to press my nose to my wrist at first. All I could detect were soft, soapy floral accords. It was very clean and feminine, but not outstanding, at least not in the first hour or so. After it settles, Le Feu D'Issey Light becomes quite milky, warm and spicy. There's a subtle hint of sweetness, but thankfully it's just a lightly sugared sensation. It's hard to detect what type of florals are present here, but I'd most likely settle with white florals, presented in a discreet and inoffensive manner. To be honest, I wanted the spices to be a little more prominent, however the drydown of vanillary woods gave me great satisfaction. There's perhaps a fleeting 'incensey' vibe in there somewhere too. While the sillage is weak, the longevity is quite lasting. It lasted around five hours on my skin, and felt very comforting and natural. I do recommend this fragrance. Unfortunately, this perfume has been discontinued around the globe. I feel fortunate to have found a tester bottle to experience Le Feu D'Issey Light before it will be forever lost to me.

I like this for the milky woody tones. I seem to appreciate perfumes with rosewood/palisander, lactones, caramel, coconut, sandalwood etc... which you can find here. ...This one in particular has them enveloped in a specific citrus note/accord that I sense best in the drydown, which I can actually tolerate (unlike it’s often the case with other citruses!). I know this note/accord/lingering scent, because I not only am able to tolerate it, but I very much enjoy it in another fragrance I own! It’s the same citrus I love in TBS Pink Grapefruit, where you won’t find milk and coconut and all the rest, but will probably be something up your alley that you can easily love or like as well and hopefully remind you of Le Feu Light too. I’m not saying they are dupes, but one may condition you into being comfortable with the other, which in discontinued perfumes is a loophole worth exploiting. Especially for price of TBS. As for the similarity with Etra, I don’t enjoy Etra the same way - it’s kind of cloying to me. Maybe if layered with TBS grapefruit , lol, I haven’t tested this yet. To me, nothing really compares to Le Feu Light - it’s the one and only!

Le Feu Light is a flanker that uses pleasant, synthetic florals and the bright freshness of bergamot to thin out the spicy, yeasty quality of the original Le Feu. Light is also just a touch sweeter with a sparkling quality. This fragrance accomplishes its goal of being a lighter, summery version of the original. This feels more appropriate for casual occasions with a gentle tone. Although this is a pleasant scent with a skillful composition, I can't help but feel like they "sold out" a little bit with this fragrance. Imagine an episode of Behind the Music on VH1: "It used to be all about the music, man! You've gone totally corporate!" Light is not nearly as daring and avant-garde as the original, and almost feels watered down for wider appeal. Another unfortunate observation is that it has very soft sillage and short wear-time. I never know how to ultimately feel about fragrances like this. It's nice, yes. But it's so short-lived you kind of wonder what the point of it is.

Issey Miyake LE FEU D'ISSEY LIGHT is a rather masculine woody-aromatic oriental fragrance to my nose. Something here actually smells a bit nutmeggy, reminding me even of Calvin Klein EUPHORIA. I am surprised that this is a made-for-women perfume, as it really smells made-for-men to me. I do think that it is wearable by women, but it's much closer to what I expect from niche-for-men creations. I wish that I knew the original--which everyone raves about and laments the discontinuation of--but I don't and so cannot compare the two. LE FEU D'ISSEY LIGHT is far more aromatic than sweet or flowery and I'm thinking that it may be the absinthe which adds the spiciness, but this is also very woody and not very milky or caramelly at all to my nose. I like but do not love this fragrance and would wear it now and then if I happened to own a bottle. But I don't, so I won't.

got a sample of this today and i m testing it right now... i must say, it's exactly what i did expect after having read those reviews. the first spray is rose and woods with a hint of coconut. very delicous and sweet with a little bit of powder and cream. then it starts to turn a bit soapy on me for some minutes to introduce nice floating balmy gourmand accords (milk and caramel?) with sweet rose, powdery and creamy flowers like an exotic garden full in bloom (jasmin and hortensia). downwards the base precious woods and musk are developping a really nice sillage on my skin with sweet accords still there in the background. i agree, this is an unisex scent, very extraordinary delicious and exotic blend. staying power excellent for an edt!!! it could easely pass for an edp. i wouldn t mind having a full zs bottle!!! unfortunately hard to find :(((

I always thought that by calling this scent LIGHT it meant it was a fresh sort of summerry version of the original. Comparing this wrist to wrist with the original I find this a far more complex and warm scent. The only lightness to it is the sillage and lasting power. I get a delicious bite of rose and green cardamom to begin with. The spicy note develops more and softens the floral notes. It is earthier, warmer and deeper than the original with a fuller guaiac woody base. I find this similar to Jil Sander Sensations but far more sophisticated. They both have a warm, sweet, freshly baked cookie quality. Sensations, I find, has more citrus and floral notes with a sharper ambery base.

Really lovely. Unusual. And yes, a masculine opening, but the dry down is sweeter, creamier and peppery. I love spices in perfume, can't get enough of them! I think its funny that this perfume was marketed to women in the 90's, its very ozonic/aquatic I guess, which is something that features largely in men's fragrances now. I guess it goes to show everything is just marketing. Its a skin scent for sure, though. Hardly any sillage unless you put your nose right up to your skin. And am I smelling earl grey tea with cream in the base?!! SOLD!

A great perfume in my collection. It has a great opening, I can feel citrus and woody notes at the same time in the opening, then dries down into nice milky and spicy notes, but it still has a fresh and unique feeling. I was surprised that it was just exactly described in the notes, just like I dreamed of. Because many times I was disappointed after the purchases without trying, just based on notes I saw on the web, but this one is just as described. I think this is the difference of Cavallier..

Very dominant woody,spicy notes in Le Feu D'Issey Light.First i thought it would be creamy and delicious but it's the other thing but It's a bit milky.Maybe the original is sweeter?! The first sniff is fresh and floral and then it becomes spicy and woody.The Bottle don't match to the smell,when i saw this bottle i thought it would be a sweet fragrance.The scent is unique and it has a masculine touch last some hours.Good for everyday and for all seasons.

This is a really nice summer fragrance. On me it smells like a sunny summerday at the beach. If I wear it in the winter I think I will have an imaginary summertrip... The fragrance is soft, comforting and not at all to heavy or sweet. The different notes are very well blended together. A must try if you like soft, warm and sensual fragrances. I almost belive my suntan deepend by wearing this! ;) An uniqe but very friendly and nice fragrance.

I like this version far more than its forerunner...I just could not wrap my nose around Le Feu..It has a urine-smell [on me] that I couldn't shake! My husband even commented: "That smells like pee!" I decided to try a small bottle of LFdI Light, and lo & behold, it's GORGEOUS! The citrus is peaking out ever so gently, and it balances well with the bergamot...As it wears, I hope I can smell the "milky" note as described...

Though it`s supposed to be a sister to Le Feu, it`s difficult to find 2 perfumes supposedly from the same line that would be so different from each other. Despite of the fact that oit has so many sweet edible notes in it - milk, coconut, caramel - somehow they are not dominant at all, but creating a nice background for the creamy flowers, amber and musk.Very comfortable perfume....makes you smile.

The anise is not strong at all, to my nose. It's slightly there in the topnotes but not in the middle notes or drydown. The 'milky' notes makes this creamy and soft but still the scent remains fresh! The amber, vanilla and musk warms it all up at the end. I cannot compare this to any other scent to give you an idea...

I wear it and I like it. On this fragrance I find the smell of Christmas. I remember the warm feeling and the smell of sweat bread. To be true this fragrance remembers me the time when I was loved and protected...the time of my childhood. It was the first fragrance that produced me this feeling.

My all time favorite. I absolutely agree with both of you in every word. I receive compliments every time I wear this. Just hope they will never discontinue this. It has not been for sale for some time here but I now know where to find it (also on the internet!). Unique it is.

I had it and I loved it!! Milky soft oriental sooo nice on the skin!!! Unique and different this is a beautiful fragrance There isn't anything close to it You just have to be in that special mood to wear it!? I don't find it casual at all, but very pleasant!!

Feu light is a gentle milky fume that reminds me of Annam by Guidiccelli. Unlike the original Feu it is not spicy at all and stays really close to skin. This scent is good on its own and it is not a lighter version of Feu to me.

This was one of those fragrances that I tried over and over again, trying to fall in love...because the notes, the name, the bottle...I should've fallen head over heels...but all I ever got was sharp, white pepper.

This perfume makes me feel like I am up north at the cottage my family used to have. It's almost the scent of nature to me. Very woodsy, creamy and comforting. Fairly strong at first but dries down very nicely.
