L'Eau D'Issey Absolue

A perfume not appreciated enough. It is on par with iconic perfumes and is not afraid to compete with them. Not a typical chypre, but I get chypre. Absolue flaker is free of the watery-floritst's refrigerator feeling and lacks the fruit too. It is oily, a wrist cracker, packed with flowers; it's basically flowers and flowers throughout and throughout. The blend is excellent, i won't bother explaining the notes; the most intense note at least on my skin is tuberose, the same as in Orchid Soleil Tom Ford. Honey is prominent for the first hour of wear, it softens later. Don't be afraid of the wood, it is just enough to prolong the wear of the perfume. Also vanilla is barely there, adds some warmth, and that's it. It is sour, not sweet at all. I feel luxurious drenched with the scent. I'm of course mad at myself a little, for not paying enough attention to the Issey Miyake counter, for discovering the Absolue version so late. Of course I love the original, it's perfect by itself and layered. This is a perfect older brother for the original, thicker, just enough heavier and more glamorous. Perfect for all ages. Ideal for all year round, although it might seem cold and distant for winter. Long lasting but seems that it stays close to the skin; not unnoticeable though; as i entered home it left enough trail for family members to ask. Their comments: "oh it's like summer" , "very lady-like" and...."a little old"(that from a younger 22year old relative of mine whose perception of perfume is distorted by tacky concoctions)

Issey Miyake is my 2nd favourite fragrance (well, it could be the 1st just as well but Eternity is my signature fragrance) and, to my great surprise, I have fallen in love with every single special edition of this perfume. They are all GORGEOUS! The first and most important thing about the new editions of Issey Miyake is that the original base was preserved in all of them- you are really wearing your favourite perfume, be it the original, floral, lotus or absolute version only each time, it's a new feeling. I could almost wear them depending on how I feel. The 2nd great thing about them is that the fragrance really echoes the name in each case. ABsolute is, indeed, the richer, more mysterious and more serious version of the original. When I say "serious", I mean it in the most positive way. It's a grown up Issey Miyake that can still be worn by a very young woman. And, when they say- honey, they mean honey! It really is Issey Miyake with honey (no lemon :D ). A similar scent can be found in Sunflowers by E.Arden. It's not too sweet 'tho which, IMHO, is really important because an average fan of the original would hardly appreciate a very sweet perfume. I don't think I can detect vanilla either but it is certainly somewhere in there, well blended into this orgasmic bouquet of flowers, honey and fresh water. All in all a real jewel and, most importantly, still an Issey Miyake. Worth the price. Worth sparing money.

Oh, I could be draped in this. Olivier Cresp has made another masterpiece! This is beautiful and perfectly balanced. It has honey and vanilla in it, but is the quintessential white floral. Immediately I noticed similarities with J'Adore, but Absolue is more delicate. And when I brought it home, to my disappointment it smelt just like something else in my collection: Marc Jacobs signature. However, I have decided not to take it back because it is sufficiently different, in the sense that Marc Jacobs is more "watery". Absolue is also watery (due to the lotus) but not as much as Marc Jacobs. Absolue is really pure, and because of the purity it smells a lot like gardenia. The note is actually tuberose - but I often mistake tuberose for gardenia (or vice versa). It also reminds me of daphne (does anyone else know this flower? I don't think it has ever been represented in perfumery). What is so exceptional about this fragrance is that it really smells like a flower. Like a REAL freshly picked one - not the essential oil version. IMO, nothing smells as beautiful as a real flower, as the scent is unmatchable, but this comes pretty close. Overall, I would describe it as soft, pure, silky and golden. Definitely for floral lovers. But I think it will most appeal to white floral lovers.

Oh my! I have been a huge fan of the original L'eau D'issey for as long as I can remember, and I never once thought to purchase a flanker. Why would I, when perfection in a bottle had already been encapsulated? I am now so glad I took the plunge and blind-bought a bottle of this. I would say this is the original's fun, younger sister; still beautifully feminine but warmer and less serious. The signature lotus and freesia combination that is so prominent in the original is still very much there, but it mingles with the honey to create a positively radiant honeysuckle scent. It reminds me how the air smells in Italy after dark, after the scented night flowers catch in the evening breeze and make the air smell like a sunset. I will reserve the original for cooler months, and switch this to my summer signature scent. Smelling this on myself makes me physically smile. The only TINY gripe I have is that it just doesn't seem to last as long on me as the original. That said, If you like L'eau D'Issey, you simply have to buy this (and keep buying it after it runs out). Pop a decant in your pocket if you're going out for a few hours or more.

I am fond of the Issey Miyaki aquatics I have several flankers but this one is my favourite. It still gives a subtle nod to the original with a slight aquatic undertone from the lotus but this one is softer more gentle. It has a powdery quality more floral and of course the obvious honey note.I also love white florals but live in a very hot climate so find my usual suspects to heavy . This is the perfect blend for me . The lotus manages to lift it to a slightly fresher plane so I am able to continue to wear this in the warmer weather it never becomes cloying or overwhelming but it has some depth and warmth to it so it is a change from the normal clean bright fresh citruses and aquatics normally worn in the heat of summer. It is easy to wear has good longevity and enough projection that I can continue to smell wafts of fragrance throughout the day. I find this to be a great all round scent . You can wear it to work or you can wear it out I have even worn it to the beach . If you like aquatics and you like white florals I highly recommend giving it a try .

Where L'eau d'Issey is a rather abstract interpretation of a cool Japanse garden with blooming lotus flowers, Absolue is a real flower. A jasmine flower. Or rather: a whole jasmine bush. A little green, a little wet, and bursting with honey. The honey note is very realistic and tends to overpower the floral notes sometimes, but the flowers still manage to bring some freshness to the fragrance. L'eau d'Issey's signature aquatic notes are still here, but slightly subdued. Somehow, they work magic with the honey, making sure Absolue is never too dense, never too cloying. In the base, the honey becomes even stronger and I get a very realistic, animalic, almost sour honey note on my skin, mixed with just a hint of soft, velvety vanilla. But in the end, Absolue is just very much a gorgeous realistic white floral. It's a scent for lush summer nights, the air heavy with fragrance. The kind of nights that barely bring any relieve from the heat of the day. Or maybe just for a memory of such nights.

(review from a man) I wanted to buy L'Eau D'Issey for my wife, I ended buying (online) Absolue version by mistake. When I tested it first it was horible, it smelled like vinegar. We settled to use it as air freshner, a very expensive one.. However it started growing on us so much that after a week I was amazed by how great it smelled. It's a very piercing smell, it's the smell of someone who makes a statement by her physical presence even before saying anything. I feel it's the smell of a lady from an upper class, slightly unapproachable and with a sharp tongue whose reply will sting you.. My wife is a wise woman but is not in the way mentioned above so the perfume doesn't represent her too much, so everytime she uses it she is doing it for me.. She still likes it but I adore the smell.

Mediterranean beach resort. More than a decade ago, I spent part of my summer vacation in a Mediterranean beach resort. One night I was having a stroll exploring the place when the cool night breeze carried the most intoxicatingly beautiful smell of night-blooming jasmine, it literally stopped me on my track. I went nuts for a few minutes, I haven’t smelled something so enchanting in my life (I live in a heavily polluted & crowded city with almost no greenery.) The moment I sniffed L’eau D’Issey Absolue I was immediately transported in time and place to that night. I don’t know if night-blooming cereus is the same or smells the same as night-blooming jasmine but this is a gorgeous realistic interpretation, I’m speechless. Stunning gorgeousness 💞

I cannot emphasize how incredibly classy & beautiful this scent is, especially in hot weather. 'Absolue' opens up with lotus and then blooms on my skin into this honeyed-vanilla white floral. The honey in this doesn't have a waxy, heavy undertone but is softly creamy & refreshingly sweet. Like actual honey without the acidity (yes I sniffed my jar of lime blossom honey for this brief review! lol). It's so perfectly balanced & has the signature, sophisticated Issey Miyake character. A slightly sensual, MODERN & elegant summer perfume. This and 'L'Eau d'Issey Pure Nectar' are criminally underrated fragrances, and indeed love-at-first-sniff & dry-down for me! IMO 'Absolue' & 'Pure Nectar' are absolute gems among designer & even niche perfumes!

Got this for cheap at Ross and let it sit on my vanity for months before trying it. I had only sniffed the sprayer upon opening and it smelled so much like the original Issey which I already have so I was saving it as a backup. Fortunately one summer day I sprayed it on my skin and discovered that although the first notes are totally Issey cool, slightly metallic and sophisticated, the middle and back end were warm, luscious, tuberose and honey, in perfect balance not too indolic or animalic and not too sweet but still round and full. What a great surprise! I like this better than the original Issey for summer and fall.

An aroma of jasmine. Tiny bit damp, a little bit green, and dripping with honey. Although the floral notes occasionally get lost in the realistically strong honey aroma, the blossoms still manage to give the fragrance a hint of freshness. Absolute is a stunning, incredibly realistic white blossom. For me, this combination is ideal. It is simple to wear, has enough projection, and decent lifespan. honey-dipped white blossoms are incredibly elegant and lovely. A sophisticated, contemporary, and slightly seductive summer fragrance.

I wore the original L'Eau d'Issey to death in the 90's and was never much interested in any of the flankers, as they all seemed to be generic fruity-floral takes on the original, but this one is absolutely gorgeous. Although it bears a strong resemblance to the original, it contains the most realistic jasmine and honey combo. It's like sticking your nose directly into a blooming jasmine bush. Highly recommended for those who loved the original back in the day but have grown out of it. This is a more sophisticated version.

I recently tried this and was pleasantly surprised. It has the aquatics of the original L'eau D'Issey but the honey gives softens it to an almost powdery scent. I have a generous sample and I have found myself going to it again and again so eventually I will bite the bullet and buy a full sized bottle. I can see this being wearable in both the warmer months and the cooler months. The aquatics and honey play very well together. It's both refreshing and soothing, and perfect for day to evening wear.

I am not fond of spicey scent, hence issey miyake includes. The only issey miyake i ever own is this one and pleats please. L'eau absolue for me still has the original dna of classic issey miyake. But this one i can't say no... love love love... it has white floral and honey scent...jasmine, tuberose and honey playing they role on the top, mid and dry down. Jasmine jasmine jasmine that's all i can say... i say yes for repurchase.

I used to layer L'Eau d'Issey for Men with some Vanille Bourbon when I was young. Somehow it worked and people would comment on how good I smelled all.the.time. Then years later, they created l'Absolue like it was made just for me. It's sadly been discontinued but I have a few bottles in stock. L'Eau & Magnolia, also being discontinued, is a close cousin to that one although it's neither sensual nor sexy like Absolue was.

This fragrance, even by the look of the bottle, looks like a golden prize. And it is! So luscious, luxurious and complex but still light and breezy - makes you feel like an oriental royalty taking vacation in Mediterranean Riviera - you get the best of both worlds: freesia and honey, spices and woods. You will feel like drifting through sand dunes until finally landing in a secret Moroccan garden! Beautiful and classy.

A first sniff I thought honeysuckle, I suppose it makes sense since it has honey and flowers. Delicious but seems to have gone already, maybe cause I have window open and even though is sunny, it's not that warm yet. I'll comment on longevity once I tried again. I've been on the hunt for some honey and I found it! This one gets a huge thumbs up from me because I always struggle to find a suitable summer fragrance - anything citrus, cucumber or guava goes awful on me. This one has tuberose, which I love, but it's not overpowering. This one is perfect.

Honey, white flowers, a warm spring morning... First three things that spring into mind when first smelling this perfume. Sophisticated and feminine this is a perfect daytime scent. You can almost smell the gold in this bottle! Was a blind buy, but would definitely purchase again.

Love this flanker. The opening note reminds me of jasmine green tea that my mom loved to drink. It's aromatic, warm, citrusy a bit musky. The golden color of the bottle and the juice is an accurate representation. I wear it and I love it.

I like the original L'eau d'Issey very much and this is even better! I love the honey and vanilla tones, which make this edition warmer an elegant, yet not too heavy. Unfortunately, it doesn't last very long on my skin...

I fell in love with this fragrance the moment I smelt it. It is very sophisticated and womanly. It's the type of fragrance you would wear on your wedding day. It makes me feel beautiful when I wear it.

As a gent, I could happily wear this, floral, honey and woody and aquatic fragrance. Very nice indeed, might have to grab me a bottle. The bottle is also really lovely too.

I'm gonna buy this. I was searching for smell like this for so long! It has that lily smell even though there are no lilies in formula.

Take the original and add heavy cream and honey. I can't stop spaying, even my dog got a little squirt after her bath.

L'eau d'Issey Absolue is what I'd describe as the big and sophisticated sister of the original. It truly is a golden scent. In the opening, the reminiscence of the original is well noted, but a bit more rounded as opposed to the sharpness of the original. That is where the comparison between the two sort of ends. The heart blossoms with sweet honey as the most noticable note and fades away with woodsy notes after about 2-3 hours. I find the lasting power to be a disappointment. It is a beautiful scent but probably won't appeal to the general masses. I'd recommend for ages 30 and up for daywear. It's not my favourite flanker in the L'eau d'Issey line (Eau florale is my absolute favourite) and I won't be buying a bottle but it was an interresting testing session and I encourage all you amateur perfumistas to take a whiff, just for the fun of it!

This is very pretty. The honey is prominent on me. I don't smell any white flowers except jasmine, which is not even listed in the notes. Where is the tuberose and cereus? Mainly, I smell marigolds with leaves, stems, and all. Because of that it feels greener like a chypre than an aquatic, though it is watery but also very airy. Someone mentioned that it smells like a lighter version of EA's Sunflowers. I agree. It does remind me of that. I think this is much nicer though, because of the honey note. Sunflowers has a sharp edge which is why I only use the body mist of that scent. This doesn't have any sharp edges because the sweetness of the honey. It's very smooth. While I like this a lot, so far out of all the flankers I've tried, the original is still my favorite. It is such a pretty light aquatic floral that never disappoints.

liking jasmine and lotus isn't enough to warrant buying this - you have to really, REALLY like them, because this does NOT budge, not from skin and especially not from clothing. the honey softens after a couple hours and the vanilla isn't there much to begin with, rather gets eaten up by the flowers. again - if you're a diehard fan, go for it. I'm not one for this type of lasting power (I prefer my scents to develop over the day as they wear off, but this is so strong it barely changes), but I can appreciate a fantastic formula when I smell it, and this'll last you months. feelings wise -- sophisticated, sweet, genuine. definitely a distinguished floral, not green-pink-soup. optimistic, calming, deep. beautiful bottle as well! thanks, issey :)

This smells very natural. I was surprised by how soft and non-perfumey this one feels! Smells like actual flower honey with a few delicate florals on the background. It’s very quiet and soft almost shy as a fragrance... I can’t say this shares the same DNA as this original L’eau d’issey EDT or EDP, but I feel like somewhere there in the background there’s that very light (and toned down) watery feel from the lotus. I can’t clearly smell the vanilla but I guess it’s somewhere back there as well making everything feel a bit more smooth. All in all it’s lovely but I had higher expectations for this based on the reviews. Maybe I’ll try layering with the more complicated and unique original and see if I can make a bit of magic.

Very nice. I definitely get a soft but warm honey scent, though it feels fresh when first applied. And it actually lasts a while, just a shame it's so faint. I like my perfumes to have some projection. Edit: I tried this on yesterday and sprayed a bit more liberally, and the sillage wasn't as weak as I originally though. The longevity wasn't bad either. I sprayed it early in the morning and could feel it all day long, though it became faint sometime mid-afternoon. I should also add that it is a warm and sweet honey scent, but also a bit dry. I miss feeling other notes to give it more complexity, which is why I wouldn't purchase this, but I still give it my stamp of approval.

I have never been a big fan of Issey Miyake, that's because I'm trying it just now, but I think it's surprisingly good. Lotus is the strongest note, but there's also mild honey and vanilla. It has an aquatic feel to it. It is a perfect scent for a classy lady. Suitable for every age, but needs someone who is sophisticated. If it's worn as everyday scent, at least classic coat and high heels must be part of the outfit too. It reminds me of pure elegance and sophistication.

I had used up a 100ML of the original L'eau D'issey a few years ago. To me this smells very different from the original. I don't pick up any aquatic feelings in this one at all, instead I smell strongly the honey notes, mixed with the florals. The overall effect is smooth and pleasant, but noticeably sweet to my nose. If you want a "power woman" scent, this is definitely not that - but it is a pleasant around the house or around your family sort of scent in my opinion.

A beautiful, linear honeyed jasmine scent. I don’t personally mind linear, so a positive in my perfume playbook. L'Eau D'Issey Absolue stands out in the crowded white floral genre— and I like this easy to wear, rounded flanker better than the original. The strong opening mellows in about 20 minutes, and for some reason I’m getting a beachy, slightly tropical feeling from wearing this scent, reminding me of Southern California and sunshine.

This is a sweet fragrance with honey and jasmine (although it is not listed, this is a jasmine-intense scent). I'm sorry to say that it is nothing uncommon or rare. May even be a bit generic. However it is very strong, and has good sillage in the first few hours. It is still there on my coat where the salesman sprayed it after 2 days, but of course you have to get your nose very close to the fabric to detect it.

To me, this fragrance smells like drinking sweet tea on a quilted blanket under the shade of a weeping willow tree on a hot summer afternoon. It's really delightful, musky, sweet, creamy, and smells like subtle sunshine. I think this is a safe blind buy for those who like floral fragrances. Seems suitable for all ages - it's not too sweet - it's quite classy and elegant without being overly mature.

I initially wanted to buy the original Eau d'Issey, but I ended up buying this instead, when I sensed the tuberose-honey mix in this, which smells divine, while also keeping the original DNA of the original. At the moment I do not think I will buy the original until I've finished this one. It is not the same perfume, they are pretty much different, but still similar, so maybe you do not need both

what a georgeous idea to add some honey into D ́issey! now I like it too, even thoug Im not a fan of the previous Gold Absolue Edition (buit I bought it anyway just because of the beautiful bottle) - too sharp due to the lack of honey. this one is less sharp and more softly feminine rounded with the light sweetness. perfect. the besst one of all D ́isseys so far!

This is like two perfumes in one...the top notes have little relation to the drydown. It begins very fresh, similar to the original l'eau d'issey, then transforms into a subtle, warm honeyed base note. It's confusing - an ozonic gourmand? I like both stages of the fragrance, just not sure if I want them one after the other...

I got this for my mom. It smells exactly like jasmine tea with a lot of honey. Expensive jasmine tea. It makes me very happy when I smell it, and I think it works wonderfully on a hot, sunny day. In the cold it can be a little bit cloying. It is a very beautiful, simple, happy fragrance.

Weird at first and unbalanced but it really transforms on skin. Turns almost smokey, along with rich vanilla that isn't overly sweet. I didn't notice the honey that much but it does intensify during the dry down. Overal i think this is super feminine and pretty.

You're absolutely right about Lys soleia! They have the same sweet creamy sunny effect although light and summer feeling fragrances. I love Lys soleia and I love issey absolue also. It may not be a wow! perfume, but it's very wearable and sensual together.

I found this version very bitter and sharp. The SA said that it was Lilac... I haven't tried it on my skin, but on paper strip I didn't recognize anything from the original, it was like testing an entirely different perfume.

Tuberose dipped in honey... After an hour on my skin, it is a subltle, creamy scent that reminds me a little bit of J' adore, but softer. Sweet but not overwhelming. Nice...

Beautiful bottle. A no-frills intense tuberose and honey, agree that it's perfect for summer nights. Rather intoxicating, possibly a little heady for daily use.

LOVELY, creamy floral heaven, one of the best IM scents, but it only lasts an hour or so on my skin. I layer it with Elie Saab Le Perfume.

I like it, but for me it smells like pure Jasmine (with a slightly woody base) - I would not have guessed all the other notes listed here.
