L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Eau & Cèdre

Surprising. To elaborate, this does not have the symphonic gladiator-mode volume and projection as l'eau and Wood.... but I think that might be in its favor. This is masterful in its own right. Not exactly ground breaking, no.... but a unique direction for this designer and its typical DNA. This scent, I believe, is meant for atmosphere. Like a pair of sunglasses on an early summer evening, adding a lovely kind of summer holiday glow to everything. Compared to the dazzling lights of other Issey works, this is a gentle small candle in a frosted glass lantern. It is an intimate scent, sweet, sentimental, touching. And this is coming from someone who rarely enjoys vetiver or patchouli. I wouldn't call this "cedar", but its got a very gentle mild sweet wood base that yall will know as Issey. It's a very casual resort, linen beach wraps and cabana curtains. No salt air, but a sweet driftwood note that hovers about. First blast: Clean, citrus, fresh as a cool breeze. Real nice, familiar. It holds this for a good 15 minutes before calming way way down. 1 hour in: you'll smell like you've been at the beach all day, just without the saltiness that other beachy scents have. Warm, a touch green, still fresh and very carefree. It's a captured moment on a patio with a cocktail and a lover. Only they will catch this scent on the air coming from you, and that's ok, because it's only for them, and it makes them want to get a little closer.... 3 hours in: well, your lover will hopefully be close enough to smell this on your skin. They won't know if it's you, or something you're wearing. It's sexy. Mild, sweet, natural warm skin and flirtatious words. I'm surprised that I can still smell it on my shirt 24 hrs later, even though it's so so mild. Good for office, obviously. Good for first dates. Great for all genders. Bring it on vacation with you. You won't be mad.

This is for two types of people, ones who don't want to stand out but want to smell pleasant, and/or someone, like myself, who literally has a fragrance for every situation and approaches fragrances like art and fashion. IMHO this is a perfectly useful "outfit " for an occasion that warrants it. Definitely work friendly, I couldn't see even the most over-sensitive "Karen" at the "office" being offended. To an experienced nose it's apparent the vision the artist had with this one, and Marie captured it. For me Im sitting just aside a crystal clear, cold, fresh flowing stream just outside of a cedar grove. Early morning, dew still on the fresh grass, and a very slight fog. All is quiet save for the soft trickling of the water over rocks and an old fallen cedar branch or two. The Grapefruit I consumed for breakfast still aparent on my fingertips and mouth as well as the sleeve of my light pullover that I catch traces of a Cardamom based scent I wore from days earlier. Very peaceful and pleasant. There's an addictive property to this one, I find myself not necessary awestruck however I want to keep smelling it and coming back for more. That opening, although short, is fantastic. The Cardamom about a minute in is beautiful. If this is Issey's answer to the common safe/signature scent then I think they nailed it in their "very different from the crowd" way that Issey tends to do. This is a very nice offering for what it's meant to do.

I wonder why this fragrance gets trashed on a lot on YouTube and here. As such, I was extremely hesitant in purchasing it until very recently that it was on sale in my country. Spoiler alert: I love it from the first spritz. The fragrance is atmospheric. A reviewer below mentioned that this smelt like spending a day at a luxurious resort by the beach, just without the saltiness of the sea, and I think that's spot on. It is not a strong fragrance by any stretch of the imagination; on the contrary, it is as light as a feather in terms of scent, and that might be why it gets trashed on. However, I don't think all fragrances have to be potent. This one seems to have been designed to be classy without trying, and in that respect, it succeeds, exceedingly well, at that. l'Eau d'Issey pour Homme Eau & Cèdre gives a similar vibe as Bvlgari Blv. If you like Bvlgari Blv, you might want to check this one out. The scent is intimate and is best worn on the skin to help with the projection. Most likely, you will get whiffs of it from time to time, and it'll always be pleasant so long as it lasts. Also, the bottle looks really elegant.

Although this perfume lasts a long time the projection is very low right from the start. Personally I don't mind having an option like this in my collection since it's such an easy wear. It could be described as generic but it's incredibly smooth and elegant. The Scent itself is simple but really well done. There's a subtle grapefruit note which isn't listed above, its a little sweet and doesn't lean on the overly rindey side like D&G light blue. The sweetness is not even close to cloying, without it this scent would be incredibly dry. There's also prominent cardamom which is more green than spicy, and a soft woody base. The reviewer below me is right about the beachy vibe this has. Smells like an expensive holiday. A good pick up I find reaching more often than some of the heavy hitters.

This is such an interesting Fragrance... I get why a lot of people say this is boring and weak. It might be...? All I can say is I'm still intrigued by it. It smells amazing, fresh and mild, woody and deep, it's SOFT and SMOOTH, it doesn't annoy or obtrude. It's safe and really fuses with my skin in a pleasant way. Many don't want a safe and innoffensive scent, they want to stand out, they want attention. I absolutely love the idea of being hidden in plain sight, this will just make you smell good, that's it. No head turning, no frantic sniffing - just gentle olfactory delight, plain and simple. And that's why this might just become my new signature scent.

I just got a chance to smell it yesterday at the shop (Marionnaud in France). I also got a sample back home. 24 hours later, I know this will be my next perfume. Fresh, mild and soft but very masculine in a pleasant way. Not for those who love strong woody scent. Not a weird, complicated scent, but simple and straight to the point cedar and cardamom scent. The projection is quite good. It lasts around 5-6 hours on my skin, but one hour longer on my clothes. I still love the Eau d'issey intense, but since it's reformulated lately, there is no reason not to get this new Eau & Cedar.

This stylish scent definitely has bitter citrus (grapefruit and/or yuzu) in the top notes, even if they're not listed above. Tailormade for spring with a nice soft woody base, However performance is quite modest, but I'll excuse that aspect this time because it smells so good whilst it lasts.

Homebody fragrance in techie & wood furniture environment. Patiently compelling, orderly, efficient and at ease feel Publically it says "not far from home". I get some black pepper bursts but it isn't in the notes, perhaps it's the patchouli blend.

This probably one of the best minimalist fragrances for the summer, it's simple and clean, it's not the strongest fragrance but it's honestly an amazing smell, you tell it's what issey miyake was going for

I liked this one on the testing strip but sadly it doesn't have any real performance and isn't something I'd wear very often on its own. It opens with a clean laundry sort of fresh burst of slightly aldehydic notes and some very light cardamom, set against a very light and pale cedar mid. You look at the heart notes and there is some vetiver and patchouli but again, these are very light and airy without the presence you'd normally expect from these accords. This gives this fragrance a very lightweight, quite sweet profile that on its own doesn't have enough presence or depth to be something I'd regularly reach for. It drops to a skin scent after 30 minutes for me but stays on the skin for around 4 hours. It is nice as a skin scent in fairness, there just isn't much to it. It reminds me a bit of a Jo Malone fragrance in that it is nice, very well blended and inoffensive but the performance on the skin is very fleeting indeed. What it does do though, is blend those airy, fresh, foresty notes together quite nicely and there isn't any very powerful citrus here so it isn't derivative, although I am sure I can pick up some grapefruit in the peripheries (but not in the notes). I'm not sure that is what IM were going for, but what they've created here is a very nice top layering fragrance to apply over something woody and moody with some vetiver, to lift and aerate. I had a hunch it would go nicely over Ombre Noire and even more so on Ombre Noire Sport by Lalique and it does indeed. Spraying it over a base layer goes some way to addressing the performance issue, stops it from sitting too sweet on the skin and it brings out the finer nuances of this fragrance which get lost a bit on its own as it dries and dies so fast. Noting the lack of dominating citrus in Eau & Cedre, it also works as a freshener for musky fragrances as well and I tried it over the top of Musc Nurasana by Maison Crivelli yesterday. The result was scintillating. The key I think is timing: you need to overspray the hell out of it at first and then as it dries enjoy the experience of the Musc coming out stronger and stronger after around four hours and making the combo move deeper on the skin, which you time so it happens as the sun goes down and you transition into the evening. Very cool. Layering Suggestion: see above. Three Word Summary: Light Upper Strata Scent - 6/10 Drydown - 4/10 Sillage - 4/10 Bottle/packaging - 7/10 Performance - 2/10 23/50

Although Issey Miyake is my favorite fragrance house, I have to start by mentioning that there is nothing "Intense" about the 3 EDT Intense fragrances from this recent line of L'eau D'issey PH Flankers: Solar Lavender, Eau & Cedre, Vetiver, and I'll add in Wood & Wood EDP as well. The 3 EDTI all have slightly below average performance, and W&W brisks average at best. That said, let's talk about this juice. Not really a real flanker of L'eau D'issey PH, much like the others I just mentioned, it's a nice fragrance. It wears easy, is non-intrusive, polite, pleasant. The pyramid is almost upside-down, it opens with vetiver and a hint of cypress, as it dries down the cardamom really starts to come out. I was wearing this on a hot day earlier this week, and thought I was hallucinating: I was getting light whiffs of La Nuit de l'Homme. I was working alone in a machine room, so I knew it wasn't someone else. It had to be this. It's hard to describe most of the notes, they blend together smoothly, but stay very close to the skin. Speaking of performance, after the first 45 minutes it's close to the skin and is probably only at arms length before that. This fragrance seems to completely dissipate after 3-4 hours. I have to bury my nose on a spot with a thick close-up spray to get even a hint after hour 3. It's beautiful, yet simple creation. If the performance was better I'd give it high marks. Definitely something you'll want to wear in warmer weather, this will completely be lost in the cold although it may last longer. I'd say this is a unisex fragrance, maybe leaning masculine, but only by fragrance conventions, nothing overtly masculine about it. Issey Miyake moments of sheer brilliance, but also has these insignificant blips. I'm very happy they have started to revive a couple of the long missed flankers recently, and hopefully that trend continues. I don't even want to give this a rating out of reverence for the brand.

I own this, my dad and brother absolutely demolished the first bottle I had of this and I was a bit sad it was finished LOL but honestly this is amazing!!! This is a spicy wood kind of scent, if you’ve ever tried Cypress and Grapevine by Jo Malone, this is basically that but cheaper. The scent is a bit different? I’d say the Cypress and Grapevine scent is a bit spicier. I do think both are very great and work differently, I appreciate both as different scents. Both stay around the same time and also radiate the same way. Overall, after getting a second bottle I’m happy to say this is in my top 10 scents of all time, it’s such a fresh daily scent that you honestly can’t go wrong about if I’m gonna be honest, the only addition I’d add to this is maybe citrus lol but this is amazing nonetheless, perfect cedre scent in my opinion!

Simple, easy and clean. The opening kind of reminds me of Leau Majuere Dissey but where that has more depth and performance, this is more simple and light. The cedar and the vetiver are the main notes on my skin but there is definitely some oceanic calone in there too. The calone reminds of Leau Dissey Summer 2014. Even from the first spray, it projects lightly and longevity seems to be on the moderate side. But thanks to that, it does have its uses. This would be a great inoffensive office scent. If you're seated near your colleagues or there's someone in the office who isn't a fan of perfumes, this might be the one to wear. Doesn't have the performance or the notes to annoy anyone.

The marketing says "water meets wood", and the name translates to "water and cedar". Let me tell you, they weren't kidding. The juice must be watered down to be this weak - it becomes a skin scent after an hour! That said, I do like the scent itself quite a bit. Extremely inoffensive, natural, and light. This would be the perfect fragrance to wear to an event or venue in which a fragrance would usually be improper. Partially due to how natural it smells, but also due to how little sillage and longevity there is.

Reminds me of a milder version of Versace L’Homme. Or along the lines of Kenneth Cole Signature. And with that are pros and cons. This is more versatile and not as polarizing. Very pleasant. Longevity and sillage are poor. It’s also not as unique. A safe play for everyday occasion, but never really standing out as far as scents go. A safe blind buy, but might not live up to expectations.

Eau & Cedre sits right in the middle of the original L'Eau and Wood & Wood. It's like a woody L'Eau without all those sweetness of Wood & Wood. It gets rather intimate when it dries down quickly, so I'd need to reapply this when I'm going out. But if you don't want to take any risk of offending people and would like to keep the scent just for yourself, this one is perfect.

I'm on my first wearing and I really like it so far. It's a bit generic (at least as far as the woody/cedar territory) but it's done very well. I don't feel it is as soft as some people make it to be, not as airy or in this case watery but I doubt it will choke anyone which makes for a great office scent. It's on the older side of the spectrum that's for sure.

A light, fresh lemon cedar scent. (The official note breakdown actually cites grapefruit.) A fleshy and juicy citrus, sweetened but maintaining a hint of biting sourness, with a woody backbone and fresh spicy pop. Pleasantly simple, but rather nondescript with poor performance. Soft projection for maybe an hour, limping through two, longevity 6-8hr.

Got a sampler, here are my thoughts: Amazing masculine crisp and dry cedar bomb. Doesn't last that long on me but thats fine as its pretty inoffensive and linear, and gives me more excuses to spray more ha. Would work great in an office environment methinks. I will buy this whenever a deal come by. The longevity is abysmal though.

I enjoyed this fragrance but it was a bit of a one dimensional fresh woody scent, if that's what you're going for by all means give this a go because it could be what you're looking for but I actually preferred the Solar Lavender fragrance instead as it has the woody hints with a more floral top note.

A very pleasant opening, aquatic, with the ylang-ylang from the original being quite noticeable, perhaps even elevated. It's a simple perfume with a soft woody dry down, with the aquatic notes competing for the forefront. It reminds me of a lagoon in a warm place.

Very nice, simple, fresh, woody scent, but nothing very interesting our unusual. It's wareable casually every day. I still can smell it on the testing strip after several days.

transparent cardamom and vetiver it smells so much more basic on skin vs paper the worst aspect is the performance, its less than kenneth cole level, it disappears in 30 mins

I like it. Woody and fresh scent. I also feel that it is slightly soapy as well. Light and pleasant. Could be worn as signature scent for sure. Very safe scent.

Simple, but not in a good way. It has a rough, low quality synthetic wood shaving note, unlike the rest of this house’s fragrances. There is no cardamom or vetiver. If the raw material quality were higher and a few additional notes were added in small amounts to give it some life, like light citrus, it would have been better. Flat, low quality, harsh, boring. 5/10

Smell takes me back to my middle school wood-shop class. It’s simple and very natural smelling. It’s light enough that you can use it to layer, or enjoy it as skin scent - as heat seems to reinvigorate the scent slightly. Best to be used after a shower - and I think that’s where people have issues with it. Simple DNA and no longevity. People who enjoy a morning showers will not have the scent last by the time they get into the office, and meanwhile evening shower enjoyers can take in the entire scent at home. Some people buy fragrances for attention and some buy for personal aromatherapy. This is for the ones who enjoy the latter.

L'Eau de Issey Pour Homme Eau Cedre is an aromatic and woody fragrance. Its opening is slightly citrusy and aromatic, but the sparkling sensation is very fleeting and quickly transitions to the middle and drydown phases, with a somewhat generic, but pleasant, woody cedar scent. This version of the classic L'Eau d' Issey Miyake is suitable for daytime use, for casual situations, office work, school, etc. Its longevity has been 7 hours with a very short sillage, almost at skin level. The scent is pleasant, but it doesn't inspire me to want to use it. However, I invite you to try it and form your own opinion.

Heavy on the cedar, almost citrusy fresh like scent. Seems versatile at first, but I'd say this would only be wearable during spring and summer on a sunny day, maybe out on a beach, or during your freetime, not really a work/school scent. Bought it because I needed a fragrance that goes into this direction. Sadly this dissapointed me a little, but not a terrible frag either, especially considering the price point. Score? 5.5/10

I personally smell a lot of ambroxan and I'm not sure how it isn't a listed note. This really reminds me of Givenchy Gentlemen Only Fraiche, except slightly more woodsy. It's an ok scent, but it feels a bit synthetic to me. I do, however, disagree with reviews that say it doesn't last long. It's not a beast performer, but it's far from terrible. Just average, which is fine. Overall 6/10.

Come on Issey, you can do it better. What's with this generic and boring scent? Like a 10 dollars generic cheap scent. Ok maybe more guality ingredients then a 10 dollar scent but the smell is too basic and boring. If this is the replacement to L'eau d'Issey pour homme Intense i am verry dissapointed. When I tested it in the spring this year when they first appeared in shops I spreyed on my wrist on one hand and I also took a paper strip and left it in the car. Maybe it was the right climate but it lasted a few hours. I could smell it for about 2 to 3 hours especially when driving and moving my hand on the steering wheel. On paper I could smell the paper strip in the car for a couple of days. I have 17 Issey Miyake so far but I don't want this in my collection. I think Issey is going too mainstream and boring with these new releases: Fusion, Fusion Extreme, Wood & Wood and Eau & Cedre.

Would you like to pay far too much to smell like cheap shower gel with a serving of urinal cake on the side? Would you like to be lied to about cedar, vetiver, and patchouli notes? If so, spend your money on this atrocity. The Issey Miyake brand hates men - full stop. This is the only explanation for the stark contrast between their beautifully composed feminine fragrances and the disgusting porridge they market to men.

Jesus I love this scent, but the performance is so poor. I read a review on here that said it’s a skin scent within minutes then it’s completely gone after 20 minutes, spot on. Even at 40$ at discounters it’s not worth the money. Such a shame that this simple yet lovely scent performs so poorly.

This goes straight to the dry down of many(like thousands) of perfumes I've smelled before; cedar and patch. That's all I get. Boring.

On strip, it shows up as a nice woody/creamy thing that could do the job for many, even if a bit soulless. But on skin, it transforms into that generic/sharp eau-de-mall, loaded with aromachemicals. Just no, but what is there to expect from Miyake at this point, honestly?

Any (new) perfume that has “cedar” in its name gets my attention. I have been on the lookout for a true, foresty, natural smelling cedar scent for a long time now and unfortunately this is not it. Despite the vetiver and patchouli notes. In the opening it smells very standard citrussy-woody, almost like a generic fragrance store smell but with a powdery quality to it. Powdery like Santal 33, without smelling like Santal. Towards the heart it remains red-woody-sweet-powdery and the cardamom comes to the front. It still smells a bit too standard to my nose. I even recognised a bit of Sauvage in it, as if you layered Sauvage with an Issey Miyake fragrance. There’s no lavender listed but I would not be surprised if they used it. That said, it does not smell like a barbershop or an old men’s scent. In the drydown (after 2 hours) the signature Issey Miyake salty-marine base comes up. Not a suprise as it has “eau” in its name. It reminds me of the salty character in Majeure by Issey. This is the part that I do like. If you’re into designer type fragrances and are looking for a simplistic, spicy, woody fragrance that has a salty-marine dry-down then I can imagine this could become a signature fragrance. It is very well blended, layered and not overpowering. If you’re more into natural smelling, niche type fragrances and are looking for a true cedar scent, this will most likely disappoint you. But hey, always fun to try when its in front of you no?

I’m about 90% sure I got a fake bottle because I ordered from Walmart and the seller turned out to have a lot of sketchy reviews But from the bottle I got this smells exactly like a watered down Aqua di gio edt the old school formulation. Based on that I’m thinking that unless eau and cedre smells like that, the seller must have just replaced the bottle with Aqua di gio or an Aqua di gio clone. It does smell cheap I can’t imagine an Issey fragrance would smell this weak and close to ADG. I own like six bottles of different Issey Miyake frags and none of them are this cheap smelling. They all smell wonderful in their own ways. This does smell kinda woody I suppose, but much more aquatic. It actually resembles cool water as well. Like a mix between ADG and cool water. Hard to say because it’s been many years since I smelled cool water, but it reminds me of it Maybe someone else has noticed a similarity with these smells? At any rate I contacted Walmart and am getting my money back 🙄

L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Eau & Cedre. definitely contain additional citrus topnotes (lime?, grapefruit?). The listed cardamom and cedar are eminently reasonable,...but the vetiver and patchouli at the base are hardly registering. This surprises me. If vetiver is around, it usually registers... In truth, the overall effect of Eau & Cedre is most like a fresh aromatic-citrus cologne, with some sharp wood below for ballast. This is most like a flanker branching directly off the original L'Eau d'Issey, but without florality or coriander. I'm glad to read other reviewers are commenting on the citrus and thinking of other fresh scents. This really isn't very deeply woody, and the comparison to Acqua di Gio is largely spot on. That must be why the marketing team put the word 'Eau' in the name twice. ...and yes, this could have been mixed stronger.

Bear in mind this was just a quick test, on both skin and paper. First of all brands need to stop with this minimalist note info they give out as none of these supposedly three or four note fragrances are that simple imo! In the opening (and even in the dry down) I sense at least a little citrus, maybe lime or bergamot. I think there's something herbal like sage too. For me the scent is soft, very soft even but it's elegant and fresh without being sharp whatsoever, it's very smooth, alas it didn't take long to become a skin scent. This makes me think of an olive green soap in a classy (expensive but not obnoxious) hotel. Nice, I'll try it again and get a sample.

For normal people it's just sweet and Woody but not over sweet. It's masculine. Don't bother about others because most the people here have a lot of fragrance so they be comparing this and that. They have a lot of fragrance just for praying like mental f**k boys.. It's a good fragrance I can get 7 hrs at elbow length

I bought this for my husband and for me I think it smells like Irish Spring soap but a bit woody and manlier. It's fresh, out of the shower scent. That is the best way I can describe it. However the staying power is disappointing. At the end of the day I can barely smell it on my husband.

Smells a lot like ADG EDP mixed with a tiny bit of Iso E Super. Doesn’t last very long and doesn’t project very well but sometimes that’s nice to have in the Spring and Summer months when you are just going about your day and don’t want to smell like a cologne guy.

Decent for the scent profile but not top tier when compared the the rest of the Issey Miyake line. This is a nice light scent to wear around the house, wouldn't wear this for an event or outing. Wouldn't spend more than $25 for this fragrance. ✌🏾

To be honest I wish I could say I like this more cause the scent is like a sweet woody smell but it just doesn't last and is pointless to wear when it doesn't last over 2 hours. Caps nice though it's actual wood :)

Actually quite a nice refreshing scent. A woodier take on the original. Very light scent, longevity may be an issue. Skin scent within an hour. Lovely scent though. (I tested this with AdG Parfum, this is better)
