L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme Fraiche

Hello, friend. How are you? I hope you are well, safe, sound, and all that can be good is for you. As for me, I’ve recently purchased L’Eau D’Issey Pour Homme Fraiche, and I must say, I’m sort of at odds with myself. You see, I’ve had multiple experiences with the original L’Eau D’issey Pour Homme, and none of the experiences were the same: at one point, it smelled like the most elegant spritz of lemon water devised by man, the next experience (years later) it was a massive amalgamation of beautiful citrusy, floral delight. Then, the next several experiences were the same as the first. All things considered, L’Eau D’issey Miyake Pour Homme was generally unremarkable to me. Months ago, I purchased L’Eau D’issey Pour Homme Intense, and enjoyed that installment very much. I still do. I have a full sized bottle I wear regularly. None of the issues I had with the original exist within the Intense version. Enter, Fraiche. . . . It smells extremely similar to the original, but somehow is also vastly different. Whereas the original was okay, L’Eau D’issey Pour Homme Fraiche is quite handsome. I mean, you really have to give it up to Issey Miyake. If nothing else, the house sure knows how to kick out some unique work. Between the grapefruit, lemon, pepper, patchouli, mate, vetiver, and cardamom, sage and mint — it produces this spicy, herbal, citrusy freshness that gives off this somehow dry, elegant saponaceous-like aroma. Being perfectly honest, I don’t understand how this fragrance hasn’t received more attention from the community. It’s not introducing a new paradigm in the fragrance world; however, it is modernizing an antiquated aquatic, fresh trend. In fact, as I say that, it occurs to me that the dry down, though lacking the florals of the original, is reminiscent of standing near a tree line immediately after the rain during the summer. You know, like, where it rained, but then suddenly the sun splits the sky, and all of a sudden it’s exceedingly humid, and the wetness releases a camphoric odor? Then you have the slight earthiness of the soil? That’s exactly it, I think: the original smells as if it rained near a waterfall, surrounded by lilies in the jungle. The Intense version is reminiscent of rain, and the city (concrete), and the Fraiche is reminiscent of rain during the middle of summer, as it is hot, humid, and buzzing with Cicadas in the background. The longevity is actually eerily good, considering the note breakdown. Projection during the first hour or so is rather loud, but soon fades to half an arm’s length, and stays there for about 6-7 hours. After that, I’m not sure what happens. I’m about 9 hours in, and I can still smell myself periodically. 9/10 Very Sincerely & Respectfully Yours, Nobody.Really

This fragrance smells like the word 'zen'. This smells very similar to the regular L'eau d'Issey pour Homme by Issey Miyake (a very 'Japanese' smelling citrus fragrance) but with grapefruit instead of the japanese citrus fruit yuzu. On the opening of this fragrance you smell deep sour grapefruit (which is somewhat pleasant) on a base of Japanese oriental spices (in fact the same ones as the regular L'eau d'Issey pour homme) and woods. I tested a decant of the original L'eau d'Issey a while ago and absolutely loved the strong yuzu note in it. But when I got an actual bottle it smelled nothing like my decant, with the yuzu being extremely muted and it being mostly spicy in a warm way (which I wasn't a fan of). This Fraiche flanker of the original presents a solution to that as the grapefruit is both deep and unwavering, at least in the opening. I like this flanker better than the original as it stands today - which is probably reformulated and doesn't smell as good as vintage examples. As it dries down I get the same light Japanese style spices as the original L'eau d'Issey pour homme, while the grapefruit note persists in the background (hence the "Fraiche" monicker). Sillage is moderate while longevity is also moderate at around 5-6 hours. Overall it's nice and better/more fresh than the original in its current formulation. Bottle design is also amazing and done in this minimalistic Japanese Zen sort of style - and the fragrance smells similar. 4/5

(Review of 125ml Display Bottle) An excellent go-to fragrance for the daytime or warmer months. Can absolutely work on a fall or winter day if you're feeling it. Incredibly fresh, herbaceous, and just enough citrus to not be too overpowering or take away from the other elements of the scent. On my skin the peppery spice seems to be quite a fair bit stronger than others - which is great for me because I love spicy! Dries down to a nice patchouli with hits of that spice and rosemary. Consistent wear for me. Update as of 4/21/25: I left a similar comment on my original review for Nuit d'Issey from the same house, but damn - this ages so shockingly beautifully! More body, more nuance, basically the same as I said on that other review... but somehow the pepper notes on this almost grow SMOKY. Yes, ALMOST smoky, like they took the jacket of their older cousin Nuit. I've had the chance to smell more of Issey Miyake's fragrances in the months after this review, and this is STILL by far the best masculine freshie I've had from the house. Insanity for the value if you can find one, I know these are a bit more difficult to track down... but definitely worth it.

Wow! Posting this review now and looking at Endymions comment I thought exactly the same...surely the original Issey is as fresh as it gets and to some just as irritating. Yeah so my thoughts on a fresh version are...is it going to be one of those watery, cucumber and kiwi summer editions all packaged up in yet another tired new flanker. I was pleasantly surprised though when I smelled it, discovering a nicely nuanced, fresh but masculine addition to the range. Opens with bitter citruses and it almost has something rough of vetiver or oakmoss to it and a peppery twang which rules it out of being just another boring aquatic or really smelling like the Original L'eau d'Issey. It undoubtedly has that DNA but not in anywhere near as full effect as you'd expect. So 'Fraiche' is not the most suitable name for this one it dries down quite earthy on my skin but still with a long lived citrus. In fact the longevity was very very good indeed and is still clinging to clothes days later. I like this outing from IM it's not bad at all and worth consideration among many mundane fresh fragrances like this around.

This frag is created for those who love rosemary. From the blast at the beginning until the dry down is the dominant note. Despite that many reviewers find the grapefruit as the prominent note, I think that the citruses have secondary role and the frag goes more into an herbal and slightly woody direction. In any case L'Eau d'Issey Miyake Pour Homme Fraiche has a bright and revitalising smell which makes it ideal for summer mornings in the office or evening ambles. As other members note, another advantage of this frag is the longevity. On my skin last 7 to 8 hours with strong projection for the first 30 minutes. Also, I think that this frag is a modern take not some mush of the original but of Bleu d'Issey Eau Fraiche which is muskier and the patchouli is far more prominent. Concluding even if I understand that L'Eau d'Issey Miyake Pour Homme Fraiche Fraiche is not for everyone, in my point of view it deserves more attention by the community since it is has it has it’s one character in the sense that it is not imitate other popular frags or follow the standards of modern blue frags.

Fantastic scent. This is everything I've always wanted citrus fragrances to be. Complex, multilayered, long-lasting, and sexy. I find a lot of citrus perfumes to be a bit too focused on photorealism. I mean yes, citrus smells amazing on its own and stuff like Atelier Cologne et al. has its place. But admittedly it's just not my thing; I want something a bit more substantial. L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme Fraiche provides that. The opening provides the characteristic yuzu blast of the L'Eau d'Issey line, but the drydown is a lovely, rich herbal affair with heavy patchouli, rosemary, vetiver, spice, and musk. It smells radiant as hell in the heat, and that deep drydown gives this some strong legs. However, it has enough oomph to survive in the cold, too. There's a slight barbershop vibe, but this is mostly a delicious herbacious citrus scent. Performance is immense for this type of fragrance; 2-3 sprays will be more than enough to last you all day. It's a shame it's discontinued because this is probably my favorite from Issey Miyake along with L'Eau Bleue. 8.5/10

This was my first fragrance that I loved, which made me to go deeper into this "hobby". And because of that, this deserves a proper review. First time I was smelling this I tought it`s more on a feminine side but after a few hours of wearing this I started to like it more and more. The freshness I got from this one it`s really good, calming yet invigorating, giving you that sensation of serenity right from the start. As a big fan of japanesse culture, this one fits so good and it projects the image of a park from this beautifull country where you enjoy a view of a lake in silence. I really feel that this fragrance must be enjoyed the most in a slightly cool weather, in early spring and even in the later autumn. In the summer you`ll feel it the most and even more if you are in a country with high humidity. Splendid creation for me, alongside Intense version.

Man, this is outstanding! I've bought it blind since I love the original and wanted something similar. Didn't disappoint, smells just great. Much more uplifting than the original in the top and middle notes, and more manly and earthy in the dry down. On my skin this is quite similar to the original, of course, and with Encre Noire Sport. I also get great performance with L'eau d'Issey Fraiche. My summer rotation includes: TDH eau tres fraiche Guerlain Homme Edp & L'eau Boisee Guerlain Ideal Cologne Mugler Cologne Ferragamo Acqua Essenziale Colonia. And I think I will use this fragrance the most. This is a cold shower in a hot and humid day. I love it!

I have worn bottles of the original over the years, but failed to replace my last. It has been about 5 years since I last wore it. Recently I received l'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme Fraiche as a gift, but initially thought it was the original I had been given. As I eagerly opened the box seeking a little nostalgic sniff, I was shocked to see the bottle wasn't frosted as I remember. I looked back at the box to see the word Fraiche. I took a sniff and was so pleasantly surprised. It does exactly what it says on the box. It smells very similar to the original - just fresher and a little smoother. Great job!

Just got this the other day ,sprayed 3-4X on my wrist just before going to bed , got up went to work still can smell it (10hrs in) , it’s a bit sour for my taste but a good freshie ,gonna continue with Majeure as my likeable summer scent so far . Edit: I’ve finished 30ml of majeure and I’ve almost 30ml left of my 100ml bottle of this fraiche.I’ve definitely grown to dislike majeure and this has grown to be my favorite summer scent .This will definitely reorder again and again ,such a fresh and comfortable wear love it.

So two guys asked me what I was wearing that it smelled goood. One of them is a cocky dvd rental dude I used to rent movies from he was mean as hell yet had the courage to ask and compliment me he said “hey man is there you can tell me what you’re wearing? I haven’t gotten laid since last easter? Maybe if you tell me what you’re wearing it’ll help me get some poon tang!” And the other one was a coworker he said he I don’t want to sound weird or anything but you smell really good and it’s making me feel weird

Amazing take on the original, it's the best L'eau D'issey flanker I've smelt. A fresger and perhaps woodier and less floral version of the iriginal with a strong grapefruit vibe. One of the freshest fragrances that I've tried and I prefer it over the original ehich is already a masterpiece, this one is more simplistic but works so well. This is also one of the very few frags that got me noticed and actually lasted over 12 hours on my hand which is incredible and hard to believe for a fresh fragrance.

Tried this today, has the same sort of vibe & feel to the original but a bit more citrus. if you dont like the original you wont like this, its very much in the same mold. it does have similarities to intense in the dry down Longevity & silage id say are pretty similar too. for me i really like this aspect. Scent:8/10 Silage:7/10 Longevity:9/10 Overall if you have the original it might not be worth having this but if you love the original issey or intense id say buy it as you will love this too!!

L'Eau d'Issey Miyake Pour Homme Fraiche is a nice version of the original Miyake. This has more presence of herbal and green notes in the opening making it less sharp, mainly the notes of mint and rosemary stand out. After a while some spicy notes can be perceived, and it ends with a base of vetiver. This version is a bit more modern, and also suitable for summer seasons or hot days. Its longevity is good being a fresh fragrance, at least for 8 hours.

As soon the weather start getting warmer I tend to miss this, till this day one of the more completed spring summer fragrance and performance was perfect for heat too. As Issey Miyake decided to not listen to me spamming their IG posts and not bring this back. It is over to you Arabian dupe houses I’m talking to you!!! P.s Tried the original after I ran out of this, and no didn’t fill its potential at all. PH Fraiche is by far the superior to the og.

Fresh, different and personal. This scent will apply personality and respect for the user. It will make you noticeable and stand out in crowds giving you a silent respect from people around you. Maybe you will not get any positive comments, but this scent will give you respect, if you have the courage to wear it. This is - the best Issey Miyake scent I know of - I have 8 different Issey Miyake scents so far. I feel lucky that I found it.

This is a hairy chested old school aromatic fougere which is very heavily built around Rosemary and Lavender to the point it's very difficult to pick up any other notes. It's old school and I love it (I'm in my mid 30's) but this is not going to appeal to a lot of younger guys and I wouldn't describe it as Fraiche. Old school Mediterranean herb garden summer time vibes and you've got to love lavender to love this one.

L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme Fraiche smells to my nose more like the original formulation of L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme. From Fraiche i get 10+ hours longevity on my skin with great projection for at least 4-5 hours . Its simply a beast compared to the latest formulation of L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme( i normaly get 6-7 hours longevity with average projection for 1-2 hours max). And i love the smell too!!! Amazing 10/10

I love this stuff and I’m shocked that I do, but in a good way.. This smells like the original formulation of Issey mixed with the original formulation of Acqua Di Gio.. That’s what I get at least.. Not the biggest ADG fan because it’s what everyone wore in high school and I didn’t get really enjoy it.. This is a great summer freshie and one that will be in my collection a long time.. Rating: 9.4/10

this is my signature fragrance! love it! i haven't to think much to spray it wherever and whenever i want. the scent its very similar with the original in the opening top notes, but after a couple of minutes dry down is so good, its modern more woody, citrusy and simple than the original. the performance is beast! man i swear this is perfect fragrance you have never go wrong with this.

This is a herbal Rosemary fragrance with grapefruit, mint, vetiver and musk along with way. It is similar from a distance to the original L'eau D'Issey to my nose. I like it and find it would be a nice weekend or casual/office juice. I don't think it is over bearing with 2 or 3 sprays and lasts close to 7 hours on my skin. Overall, for the price and quality, it is a winner IMO. Enjoy!

@almondbreakfast i agree in a way that it is as good but in a different way. Imo its different enough compared to my years old bottle of the original. This new fraiche giving me a wonderful citrus vibe with a dark undertone. It's that oldschool kinda like scent but in a good modern way. It reminds me in the drydown of davidoff zino Beautiful

This is a lovely fresh brisk spicy definitely masculine perfume. Great for summer and spring even early autumn. It has strength to be used in colder weather. It has some fougere vibe to it so it's very manly. With that said there is something a bit sour and screechy in the opening that can be off putting for someone.

This is a fragrance that really grew on me. A masterpiece indeed. Natural scent, it smells like a beautiful waterfall to me. It's earthy, aquatic-fresh, energizing, powerful, ultra-masculine (quite dark and mysterious). On top of that, lovely bottle. The bottle itself express the freshness within.

This is a beautiful sparkling summer masterpiece! It's cool and somehow fizzy. This is my FAVORITE summer scent of all time and it outshines the OG Issey. For a citrus scent it lasts a good while and projection is superb for hot weather. You are doing yourself a disservice if you never get this.

This one smell is not like the L'Eau d'Issey intense at all. It's really like bvlgari aqva marin but this one is more wearable. A very long lasting power. Excellent progection. One the better frag for the up coming hot summer days. IMO 10/10

In a brief way, Encre Noire Sport + Bvlgari APH = Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme Fraîche Wild combination, it shares lot of affinities to both of them I would say. Fraiche smells organic but exceedingly darker and manly.

the OG that I love is already light and fresh IMO. and adding a flanker fraiche is not bad at all. this fraiche version is a good offer from issey miyake to those guys who hate yuzu note while still holding the DNA of the OG.

notes look intriguing! i know people will whinge at it being a flaker but issey are VERY good at flankers. all issy flankers ive tried have been unique in one way or another - they dont get enough credit for that

Am i the only one here who loves Fraiche better than the original? I always find the original too "warm". It is like lukewarm water. Fraiche on the other hand is, room temperature. -AB-

Fresh, rosemary note is heavenly, but in my opinion, the regular version is more office friendly than this. Worthy addition, but not a 'must-have' and will not rebuy

This is fantastic! A fresher sexier version of Issey. I can’t imagine anyone not liking this scent. Smells so good, and for the summer you can’t go wrong.

Lovely refined fresh woody aroma is what it is.Projects well and gets good complements..stays long 6 to 7 hrs . Works fine for spring and summer

Stronger and more interesting than the OG. I was stunned when I first smelled this, as it easily eclipses the original version.

Top tier most unique summer frag.

I tested it on my skin alongside the original L'Eau D'Issey. In the first hour, I couldn't detect any difference between the two. But then, the original (reformulation, of course) quickly faded into some indistinct musty woodiness, while the Fraiche version retained its freshness (as promised). Since I really liked the fresh grapefruit note, I bought it in a blink. Longevity and sillage are really exceptional with this one, and potential overspraying is a real issue. So far, so good. But then, after some weeks of using, I began to distinguish a funky note lurking behind the whole composition. Like some brown-greyish dirty hue under the sparkling yellow-green forefront. Vetiver? Musk? It doesn't smell like body odour per se, but it has some commonalities with it. And it's especially perceivable on the clothes on the next day, when the initial freshness is gone. So, a long-lasting grapefruit indeed, but the freshness of the whole composition is disputable. This problem might be solved by simply applying less, but one way or another, it's not as much a fresh citrus fragrance than an earthy one. I'm on the fence with this one. Otherwise, perfectly linear fragrance. *** I've come to the conclusion that the perceived funky note must be patchouli on the musk background. (Laboratorio Olfattivo Patchouliful has some similar notes in the drydown, although without the grapefruit edge and with some additional sweetness.) Knowing the source of the smell somehow makes it much more pleasant. But since I expect my citrus fragrance to add freshness, not extra funk, to my BO, I sold the bottle.

This perfume was the one I opened and used for the first time on my birthday two years ago. If I wanted to describe the smell, I would say: initially is strong citrusy with notes of grapefort, bergamot, rosemary and mint, after that the smell calm down, but I keep picking up the rosemary that continues to the end of the fragrance. In the heart I could not discover the ingredients, perhaps because the blending was excellent for it, I don't know, in general it is a somewhat floral and spicy scent. When dry down there is a beautiful musky scent with vetiver and a bit of patchouli, and the dryness is the best stage of the fragrance for me. The fragrance is citrusy, herbal, musky, elegant, fresh, clean, bright, gives activity, improves mood, easy to wear, does not have a difficult or annoying note, I don't think anyone will reject it or be bothered. There is a great resemblance to the original L'Eau d'Issey Pour homme in the opening but without the yuzu note, but it differs from it afterwards, becoming less floral than the original. The longevity of the fragrance about (8) hours on the skin with sillage above average, masculine scent, suitable for people over (25) years old, with casual clothes, for spring and summer, and it shines with high temperatures, I see it as a perfume for daily use, for the office, for gym, for shopping, for a walk. L'EdIPHF opens like a burst of gasoline made of sea buckthorn berries. (*) It's a devastating attack, like the Shock and Awe opening of the Iraq War back in the day, or some kind of Agent Orange laying whole jungles to waste. This acid rain will raze and destroy everything, sinuses included. Some reviewer below wrote: "Do NOT put your nose on this for an hour." Truer words are seldom written. But if you bear with L'EdIPHF for that excruciating hour, out of the desolation and destruction will slowly rise... a perfume. And it's a nice sparkly fresh, very potent and very sour citrus perfume, although I'd be surprised if it contained a single natural ingredient. But here's the reveal: at this point L'EdIPHF reminds me of the current Dior Homme Sport. Maybe they share the same super-citrus molecule, maybe pink pepper note too. DHS of course is darker and woodier than the pure citrus L'EdIPHF, but this makes me want to wear Dior Homme Sport. DHS starts as a fragrance, not as an hour of napalm rain. (*) Sea buckthorn is a wild berry known for containing exceptionally high amounts of ascorbic acid. And it tastes like acid too. The other word for ascorbic acid is vitamin C, so it's a popular acid.

This one has really grown on me. Initially it just smelled almost identical to the original LDIPH (and it certainly is very, very similar), but with each wear it has revealed additional facets; sharp, rough herbal rosemary, grapefruit pith, a slightly toasty woodiness (mate & vetiver?), and a shroud of soft mist (musk & rose?). As with the original, this all all contained within an overall impression of zen-like cleanliness. I don't quite get people raving about the longevity. It seems to shrink back to a skin scent after 2 hours, but then does remain quietly tenacious. Good value. UPDATE: it has really continued to grow on me, I can't stop wearing it. There is a very serene quality. It's meticulously clean but also quite uplifting. FURTHER UPDATE: I have sickened myself with this one. The toasty edge from the mate comes across quite clove-like, and currently is really "soiling" or polluting and otherwise clean fragrance. Need to revisit it during a different season. Also, I think people are getting some sour/bitter confusion here; I find it much more bitter pith than sour zest.

I am very much impressed that this scent still manages to have that issey miyake DNA with the absence of the legendary yuzu note with grapefruit being in place of its absence. To my surprise, the scent rubs off a bit sharper/brighter than expected, much more than it's original counterpart, l'eau d' issey pour homme. Very much a spring/summer scent to its core, but with an added herbaceous presence that works well with the added musks and white patchouli note. But I must admit, there is a familiar, yet strange presence in my current experience with it so far. Can be dubbed a 'vacation scent' like a fico di amalfi, but it doesn't smell "classical" like an acqua de parma that'll give the impression that you are somewhere on an italian coastline. Make no mistake, you are very much transported to a summer getaway, but you aren't quite fully in view of the sea while stepping foot on a beach, but rather the most unorthodox green headland you've encountered thus far and the sun's rays are at full burst without a single cloud in the sky.

This perfume is definitely citruses, greens and florals like the OG but there’s a massive difference. Firstly the citrus is not at all similar to the OG Leau Dissey Pour Homme as there is no Yuzu here however it’s pretty salty, sharp and musky so it’s still a nice sharp citrus perfume. Secondly, the green in here is pretty nice too. It’s got a similar green note as the Leau Bleu Dissey does in its opening with the rosemary. Thirdly would be the floral note. It’s very similar to the note of rose used in the OG Leau Dissey for women. The 3 notes are really prominent on my skin and they balance each other nicely but as time went on, the rose came out more so I’d say it’s a pretty safe unisex scent profile. As for performance, it’s decent. It’s not a performance beast and it doesn’t project massively but I’d imagine that’s what most would want when it’s hot outside and that’s what it’s made for based on the fraiche naming. Overall a very different and interesting scent profile that’s worth trying.
