L'Eau d'Issey pour Homme Oceanic Expedition

Great stuff. You'll notice the grapefruit immediately, it's pretty strong. What this reminds me of is a Sunday morning in summer. Brilliant weather, you get up before anyone else does, go cycling for an hour, get back, shower and then make breakfast as everyone else is slowly getting up. All the windows are open, you can hear the river and people laughing and kids playing outside, the hum of a perfect summer day. I'm a great fan already and will go for a second bottle before the season's out, no doubt. As with all Issey fragrances, longevity is disappointing. On my skin at least they all disappear after just a few hours.

The grapefruit opening note is one of the best I've smelled. You can imagine the sour, refreshing citrus peel at once. This lovely grapefruit is soon joined by neroli and ginger. The effect is magic. These bight and cheerful citrus soon tone down, as they always do, giving way to a nice marine accord supported by light musk. It is this musky citrus dry down that gives Oceanic Expedition a similarity to Dior Homme Cologne. They aren't the same scent, but in the same family. The Issey Miyake DNA is here, unmistakably, but it is toned down and smoothed out. Good stuff, and a great summer fragrance.

Smelled this at a department store and to me this was smell-wise a 90% copy of Cartier Declaration Cologne. Very citrus and fresh with a lot of especially grapefruit and ginger going on. Main difference is that The Miyake has a base with white musk and the Cartier with vetiver. Thumbs up as Declaration Cologne is one of my top favorite summer fragrances and very hard to get so this is an excellent replacement. The Miyake has excellent projection and longevity for a fresh scent. Not original but very well done indeed! Thumbs up: 8.5/10

This one’s way better IMO Thant the original L’Eau. It preserves the same essence but spicier. It’s got a sharp strong opening of grapefruit blended with the ginger note, smells like a sea breeze of the Pacific Ocean. Sweet , masculine and fresh . Good longevity with soft moderate silage. The bottle is gorgeous, just wish the cap had a translucent finish so it matches that beautiful blue gradient.

A more marine interpretation of the brilliant, even legendary original. The citrus is still present but not as sharp as in the OG or the excellent 'Yuzu' flanker but this completes a great trio with a hint of marine saltiness. Kind of as if you combined l'Eau d'Issey PH with Acqua di Gio (but less floral than those two), this should give you a rough idea. Very nice!

I've been wearing this recently, alternating it with Issey Yuzu and the OG Pour Homme. I've worked out what Oceanic Expedition reminds me of in addition two the other two and the hint of Acqua di Gio there's a touch of something like Dior Homme Cologne or even a more watery DHS (the versions containing ginger). Very nice warm (even high heat) weather scent.

I just bought this perfume for my boyfriend. I would say i love the scent of it, citrus, fresh, aquatic and pleasant smell. I blind bought it for a really great price at mysale.my and it didn't disappoint me at all. I didn't really like the woman version in Issey Miyake fragrance. But for Homme it's really something you wouldn't like to miss out.

Funnily enough this came out at the same time as Eau Sauvage Cologne and both smell similar.. not the same but there are some matching note here. I picked up both and love them both. The Dior is slightly better in my opinion.

its a fresh scent with blast of grapefruit and sea notes background .it`s really cool in summer hot weather .

This is one beautiful fragrance, and quite a surprise at €45. Not the most complex or unique, but a very fresh and delightful aquatic. The strong grapefruit / orange opening is not overwhelmingly fruity, but balanced by a bitter petitgrain and yields quickly to a ginger sea note extravaganza. The dry down is a fresh ocean smell with a slight white musk and still a tinge of grapefruit. Fairly linear, but breathtakingly simple, elegant and fresh. So glad I grabbed a bottle.

All Issey fragrances that I've tried (maybe 4 or 5?) have a similar DNA, connected by the prominent yuzu note. This one is the least cloying, maintaining a pleasant citrusy aquatic sweetness that never gets overpowering. Nice, fresh, unique. Great for summer and performs well in the heat. Possibly even a safe blind buy. Not mind-blowing, but solid.

Strong grapefruit opening. The drydown reminds me a lot of Dior Homme Sport 2008. It has little similarities with the original and Dior Cologne. If you like these three, you'll like this. Don't expect the same performance of DHS2008 though. I really like that citrusy-gingery fragrances, so it's a thumbs up!!

I got a decant of this and I have to say, it's not what I was expecting. I don't find it very fresh at all, it's actually quite bitter and sour. I also get some faint woody notes, but it never quite comes through past that sourness. To be completely honest, this just doesn't have much of a smell at all, it seems watered down (I'm wondering if this decant is legit or not). For me, Issey Miyake fragrances seem to be either a love (Nuit D'Issey, L'eau Bleue, Summer flankers) or a hate (Intense, L'Eau Super Majeure), and this one falls into the hate category for now. I'm just so disappointed with it because the reviews here make it out to be something completely different. And that bottle is just beautiful, but unfortunately the actual fragrance doesn't live up to these expectations for me.

I like Yuzu better than this, it has longer lasting power and frankly i think it smells better, but it depends on what you like so try it before you buy it.

Initial impressions= Instant love! Blind buy six months after doing the same with the shining gem that is Issey PH Yuzu, this is possibly as good, who knows, maybe even better (not sure yet)! I strongly urge anyone who likes the original Issey pour homme and is seeking a warm/hot weather option to hunt this one or Yuzu (or both!) down! I feel blessed to now own them both, two brilliant blind buys, gorgeous, refreshing and uplifting scents. Thank you Messieurs Miyake and Morillas (the nose behind this one, not sure about Yuzu)! :)

Yes, grapefruit is dominant, and strong. I see some similarity with orginal L'Eau d'Issey, but this is cleaner, without all that ''dirty - questionable'' notes of yuzu and flowers, which i don't like. This fragrance does not have problems with synthetic, on my skin was very good in performance also. Originality ? I see it more orginal than most fresh fragrances, it's like some sort of alternative type of freshness. More likable and approachable than Miyake Sport...Good fragrance.

A very strong citrus frag. It is not lemon, more of a lemon/ Yuzu combination. The opening lasts about 45 minutes, but overall it is pretty linear thought the entire frag. I don't really get petitgrain or neroli in the frag, but rather I think it tones down the yuzu to make it smoother. I would recommend L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme Issey Miyake for men over this one. Overall: 6/10 Longevity: 7/10 (8-9 hours) Sillage: 6/10

This will be perfect for those upcoming hot summer days (I live in Finland so we'll have about 3 or maybe 4 of them) cause it's so fresh and invigorating. I love the grapefruit in this one, it's just right.

Something in this is really annoyed me. I wish I liked it I really like this designer I want to get every one they have it was a blind buy but it wasn’t a bad blind buy because it’s discontinued.

To me this smells no different than Issey Miyake the original. If anything it's a bit more off putting.
