L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Yuzu

Luckily, I got another chance to wear Yuzu after some time. Even after years this fragrance gets my appreciation for very specific range of lightness it has. First off, opening is marvelous and very green. No sharp tone whatsoever. While ginger boosts up semisweet notes of citron and definitely mandarin orange. Very orange, zesty one. You cannot miss it at all! In fact, it almost reminds something between birch and nettle freshness. Accords are not so woody and earthy at all. Aquatic quality of the juice let them project rather spicy. Beneath all these citrus notes finds vetiver and some bois notes, amongst which cedar is most sensible. Sniffing a little longer, you get a staying power of vetiver or rather tannins giving it that aforementioned tea character and limonene -- that is aroma what sticks even deep in a throat. To me, top notes are bastante green and personally, I find it to be very aromatic green scent, even though only green thing might be the flacone from frosted glass - which is in that same fashion as original L’eau d’Issey pour Homme. Definitely unisex frag with something dated in it. Not in a bad way, not in a good one. Though I love Yuzu and I always enjoy to wear it, that aspect of tradition coming from base composition distracts me. Well, understandably, if it is what makes Issey frags distinctive, you need to let it grow on you eventually.

Rockstar..!! How ‘bout a clean and fresh Rockstar..?!?! This juice is really good... Yes, even in South Carolina, the cooler temps are here, but with a cloudless blue sky filled with sunshine, I had the urge for a citrus blast today... Issey Miyake’s Yuzu gave me exactly what I needed. The original Issey Miyake DNA is there with a little extra citrus kick. While geared more toward Spring and Summer wear, I had no problem pulling this off on this beautiful Fall day. Speaking of which, I felt clean and fresh all day and may decide to wear this more often in cooler temps. Performance was above average, lasting 6+ hours on me and even longer on clothing. The projection was initially beyond arm’s length, but the dry down settled to arm’s length distance, ideal for close quarter or office setting. I am impressed and this vibe will be a crowd pleaser..!! My final tally for Yuzu is 4.5 stars out of 5. This juice is definitely one of the best Summer hot weather fragrances in my collection and I thoroughly enjoyed it today. I highly recommend adding Yuzu to any collection and it comes with a solid love for the fragrance community. Enjoy your day and happy fragrance hunting...

This review has been edited after much experience with this fragrance. I have upgraded it from a like to a love. This fragrance has become practically indispensable to me and I am sad that is is discontinued. I blind bought this because I wanted a strong and bitter energizing Yuzu, and that is exactly what I got. It is very stimulating, It will give you that extra kick you might need during the day. Unfortunately, there is a Baby Powder scent that I suspect to be part of the Issey DNA. I normally don’t like this scent in a male fragrance; however, there is nearly a masterful balancing of the sharp and poignant Yuzu with the soft powdery cleanliness. The Yuzu is brimming with audacious character and disarming distinction. It’s like a sour bitter springy spicy citrus margarita. In this sense the powdery Issey dna almost apologizes for the boldness of it, and there is a fresh and clean cucumber-esque accord that smooths it out (somewhat). It is smooth in the sense of a freshly plucked citrus fruit that is round yet still bumpy and nubby all over. This is just another unique highlight of a really unique fragrance.

Perhaps Issey Miyaki’s finest summer fragrance of them all... and there are a lot. This is the best Yuzu fragrance I’ve smelled yet. It has that wonderfully juicy yet sour opening blast that is a joy to experience, especially on a hot day. This stuff was made for the humid Japanese summers, so if you live in a similar climate and have been looking for something that works in heat and humidity, look no further. IM Yuzu works so well because it has minimal sweetness and there are no synthetic, cloying aspects to it. Projection and sillage are modest but appropriate for this kind of scent, just enough to generate a pleasant, refreshing aura for hours. IM Yuzu is a rare bird, so you’ll smell quite unique if you wear this. It’s really a superb offering from a house that specializes in fresh fragrances.

Just received my bottle, a blind buy. My first impressions; this is instantly recognisable as an offspring of the original l'Eau d'Issey pour Homme. Without comparing side by side (just yet) I'd say this one is less complex but no less beautiful. The yuzu of course plays a starring role once again, there's also a distinctive citron (cedrat) note which combined with the ginger and a touch of vetiver gives a slight nod the the original Dior Homme Sport (2008), at least to my nose. Essentially though I find this to be a more streamlined l'Eau d'Issey PH, crafted with the hot weather in mind, I really think this could come into it's own in the high heat, a more refreshing, less intense and less spicy take on the original. Gorgeous scent.

I'll say it now and expect this to remain the case for a long time: Simply the greatest summer fragrance I've come across, it's particularly good for the hot weather during the day. Incredibly uplifting and bright, I absolutely LOVE this stuff. For me this lasts a lot longer and smells better than the also rather fine Oceanic Expedition flanker (which I also gladly own) and the original Pour Homme. I'm going to most definitely keep an eye out for a second bottle. Fantastic ginger and citrus scent which doesn't disappear as quickly as most other summer fragrances (at least for me)! It's like Issey pour homme original/Oceanic Expedition with a touch of the classic masterpiece Dior Homme Sport (2008), but lighter and with more citrus!

There's no space for life in this frag! Perhaps, i've smelled that condensed and non compromised citruse for a long time. Last time, something which was louded of citruses what I smell was Essenza di Colonia Acqua di Parma, but when AdP was more occidental smell (barber) and project loudly then YUZU after application almost immediately come down close to skin on me. Longevity is good, around 7 hours and smell evolve on skin and suprizing by showing in turns her heavy (like Issey Intense PH version) and bright face. SCENT: I don't know. I must try this more. LONGEVITY: 7 PROJECTION: 2

Now owning at least 80% of Issey-Miyake men's and women's scents (women's for my wife)... Yuzu is extremely nice and becomes my 3rd favorite from Issey-Miyake. Its such an amazing opening which to me is my favorite part of Yuzu but shortly after (30min later) falls flat. It then losses is wow factor and can easily become lost within the hour. To me... The original last slightly longer. This scent is amazing and different inge beginning but the blends into the original issey. Soooo nice. Very 2014. If your an Issey-Miyake fan, then this is a must have. 8.5 out of 10. :-)

THIS IS PERFECTION IN A BOTTLE!! I have always been a fan of Issey Miyake, and this was the first time i had smelt this refreshing beauty. Initially after the first spritz i was a little unsure, but once it had dried down, OMFG! New signature for sure! All my family and friends know my smell as being very green, herbal and sweet citrusy/aquatic. I live in Australia, so Issey thrives here in our weather, due to the dry heats out west and the humidity up north along the east coast.

This was a blind buy, and it's really really nice! I am a lover of sweet smelling/gourmand fragrances for the most part and L'Eau d' Issey Yuzu is on the opposite end of my current fragrance spectrum. Yes, it has the dna of the original but those citrus notes have been dialed to the max with this one. I wonder how this will fare during the cold weather months, because I do like the freshness of L'Eau d' Issey Pour Homme Yuzu.

Quick update, I finally wore this on a warm day, I was doing very physical work outdoors all day (so a lot of perspiration!) and I was still getting gentle wafts of the fragrance more than 6 hours later. 8 hours plus later I could still smell it on my skin (would've been more but I needed a shower!). Such a brilliant and uplifting scent, truly gorgeous and with excellent performance. A true gem, I love it. <3

It opens with a green, vibrant, sour hyper blast of yuzu and oh boy it is loud; all I can smell is yuzu. Then the perfume calms down and becomes a grand deja vú of the original mixed with its Sport flanker with prominent yuzu, nugmet and mandarine. A nice edition. If you love the original you'll love this.

A superb summer citrus fragrance, clean & crisp too. I'm surprised that lemon verbena (verveine) isn't in the note listing. I can sense the original l'Eau d'Issey PH here but this is also it's own thing, it's also lighter and less woody. I think they should bring this one back as a staple in the line ;)

as somebody below mentioned, this one is definitely the best citrus freshie of the issey line. it is extremely similar to oceanic expedition but with a perfectly balanced smooth yuzu/grapefruit note whereas oceanic has a hyper astringent citrus that can burn the nose hairicles if its not hot enough.

My curiosity has been satisfied. L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Yuzu does hold up very well during the cooler weather months. It's a spicy scent that sneaks up on you when you least expect it and is a pleasant surprise.

It was a scorcher today and I reached for this citrus bomb for relief. This particular fragrance can be used in all four seasons and by both men and women in my view. I love it!

An absolutely gorgeous freshie! Citric in the top with a beautifully smooth vetiver dry down. Wow!

Like a icy cold glass of cloudy lemonade with a splash of ginger. Niiiiiice!!

I found it for a 100$. I am not sure if I want toget it for this price.

I like this one, a fresh clean summer scent.

Smelled this at sephora and its a good one it smells a little similar to the original after all it is a flanker of it but this one the citrus stands out more and the yuzu no dah! I guess its the name of it but it starts off kind of bitter dry sour citrus kick almost kind of like a herbal plant kind of scent mixed with the citrus but its not a bad smell it changes more into the citrus scent after 20min to 30min like almost all the issey fragrances it has great longevity I sprayed one heavy spray to the back of my hand at the store early in the day I got home several hours later even washed my hands and I can still smell it,It has been at least 5 hours good thing I got 2 sample decants I can wear it and see how other people like it I'm a fan of issey fragrances so this is easy for me to like I own the original been wearing it for years I got the sport I like the light airy vibe of it and I own the 2013 summer version I enjoy that one as well and I'll most likely get this one too but I don't want to pay the full retail price but its worth it though its different unique and good quality 8/10 if you like issey fragrances like me you'll like this too if you're looking to blind buy I say go for it it is very spring and summery casual scent

This one opens like L’Eau 2 Kenzo pour Homme, probably slightly better because of Yuzu. After 5 to 10 mins it starts to smell like the original L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme. The only good thing is it does last longer than the original. Quite disappointed, but overall it's a good choice for summer.

This is very good as a summer scent. However there is a slightly musty note that creeps in in very high humidity. A surprise, considering how minimalist and clean Issey Miyake fragrances usually are. May just be something my nose picks up. Overall a good scent. Sadly, not a love for me.

I only paid $39.99 for this at Winner's a few years ago and still have some left. I like, but don't love it...anything more is over hyped. Its citrus delight veers off very quickly and turns into an iso'ey headache. I wouldn't refill regardless!

It's not in the notes but I smell tomato leaves in this. It's a very refreshing green scent without being biting or harsh. Very enjoyable.

Quite a departure from the original. Strong, fresh, and so far the only Issey Miyake fragrance with a longevity worth mentioning.

So I was expecting it to smell similar to Leau Dissey Pour Homme but this is quite different. The Yuzu is definitely there but when I smell it, I’m reminded of smelling a freshly cut chilli. Doesn’t project much but longevity is good. It’s sharper and brighter but less woody. After 2 hours, it’s becomes slightly woody but it’s still very different from the OG. It’s reminding me more of leau majuere and summer edition 2014 dry downs actually. I like it more in its dry down. Overall not bad but I’m still gonna go with the OG.

@BriantheFragranceNewb, no it doesn't die down, it definitely lasts longer than the original. I own this, as well as the Mint sport edition and the original. This one is my favorite of the three. The best way I can describe this is a "bright yet soft" citrus opening, that fades in intensity over the first 90 minutes, but always remains distinct and present. As the fragrance progresses, the traditional aquatic undertones found in the original come to the fore. In comparison to the original, this one has essentially removed the floral aspects of the original and replaced them with Yuzu and Citron (genuine citron accord, not lemon! I have smelled both side by side). While the original is and always will be a timeless classic, I think this one is the best out of the line of "classic" flankers. I'm not going to get into their "Intense/Nuit/Nuit Intense" series, which is more incense/woods based. That's a different ballgame entirely...

I loved how Yuzu opened, with a huge, brassy green, the kind of green you get when you're a little kid pulling weeds apart to see how they're put together. Just loved it, that in-your-face crushed foliage smell. I liked the strong citus that came afterwards. I've never smelled yuzu, but it reminded me of etrog. What I did not like was losing both the green and the citrus in the dry down and being left with nothing much but that Eau D'Issey Miyake (man or woman, take your pick, it makes no difference) Smell. I don't care for E'DIM in any of its incarnations, so it was a huge letdown after a glorious start.

Who would have ever thought that bright citrus fragrance which often associated with mood lifting, energizing and reviving could be so calming and therapeutic as well. This Yuzu themed, just like its predecessor is everything citrus at its finest, the main difference is, it doesn’t have that earthy woody quality as much as L’eau D’Issey Pour Homme. I am so lucky to have found this sold online, and be reunited with this once again. Well there are many other good options of heavy citrus based fragrances nowadays but this just bring back many memories from my past. Love it.

A very nice fresh, mild and fruity scent. It is very refreshing, calm your inner peace and help you beat the heat in hot season! Especially in tropical countries, this is a good frag! The scent does not evolve much, linear with mild scent of Yuzu, fruity and floral linger behind - very nice. The only take out for this flanker is the super weak longevity - literally cannot last more than 1 hour on me, and no projection at all, stay closed to skin only. Self impression scent, shame. Overall, I will only buy this if they have the Intense Yuzu version! 3/10 from me.

Love this. Staying power is good. For me it is similar to the original. I don't understand why it was never mentioned. All his fragrances dry down smell like tea. most of them anyway. It reminds me of the cold green tea leafs that is left overnight brewing in the pot. Anyone feel this way or am I the only one with the weird skin chemistry .

I tried this on my skin on the Christmas Eve. Well...Issey Miyake did it again! It opens with a blast of fresh green citrus notes (i.e. Yuzu) and settles to a very pleasant rendition of the original. In contrast to previous years' versions this one does last and has a good projection. Overall: 7.5 out of 10.

I finally found something worse than Hugo Boss Energise. This smells like rotten fruit that has been in a trash can for 5 days layered with vomit. I had to scrub it off in a hurry but took about 3 scrubbings to get it off. Why and how this was ever produced is a miracle.

Man, this stuff is DRY! You can certainly detect the citrus, but it's dry an bitter citruses, with the slight rooty vetyver in the back. Smells natural, but this is for people who enjoy dry martinis, Gin and Tonics, and no sweetness in their drinks or fragrances!

I would say it’s the same as the original when it came out first. I have a bottle of the original and there is some bitterness in that one that is toned down here. Apart from that and the rumored reduced longevity I wouldn’t be able to spot the difference

The first notes gave me a weird sensation. But then, as it develops, it becomes a clean, green, fresh and very confortable scent. Good longevity but less than average sillage. I do recommend this cologne for work, cold or hot days. Hot nights also. .

oh its a never ending story. yes the bottles are cool as usual .and guess the juice itself as well but... but please mr miyake - or anyone behind the brand - invest your money into something new ,something innovative believe me : it would worth it

A typical Issey Miyake scent: fresh and clean, this time loaded with Yuzu and to my nose also green notes. It would probably be a good scent for the office. No rough edges and almost aseptic. Something for hipsters imo.

Does the initial citrus blast of this fragrance die down as quickly as it does for the original version? For me, the original dies down too quickly into that cedar/vetiver base which isn't exactly my cup of tea.

absolutely great fragrance.. i live in a tropical country, and was looking for a fresh, clean welcoming scent for summer, and this was a wonderful choice.. on my skin, and clothes, longevity is great..

It's got a mild and refreshing yuzu note which lifts up your mood whenever you smell it on yourself,and the silage is weak as I happen to notice.

Bitter citrus and very dry. I only have this because it's a hand me down from my dad. I'm 24 but I feel like this is quite mature for me.

I was hoping it would smell like yuzu juice used in cooking but this doesn't have that smell. Overall I like the original Issey better.

This is a fresh green plant scent!The yuzu is truly present. I think I will stick to the others.
