L'Eau d'Issey Reflection In A Drop

I just received this and tried it for the first time. I absolutely love the original Issey and this one is no exception! This one seems more fresh, lighter, with more citrus but still with an aquatic feel to it. This will be a wonderful addition to my summertime fragrance collection!

Better than the original. One of my favorites for summer days. My favorite from the family of floral acuatic. When I wear it always got a compliment.

This one is so much better then the original one. i adore it.. very fresh and uniqe scent, great for hot summer days!

It's delicious, very fresh and light and still you will be noticed using this one. Gives me a very pleasent feeling.

I have always been very intrigued by the concept and packaging of this perfume so I blindly ordered a full bottle of this online. I'm a sucker for the soft gradient look of the bottle along with the graphic design. The cutouts of the box were not cleanly cut and there were a few things that made me guess at the authenticity of the perfume. But after much comparison to someone else's flanker I was assured that the juice was real. I have yet to test others from the Miyake line but I really was not wooed by this one. Like Paradelle's experience, I was instantly hit with strong chemical vibes of a bitter orangey citrus. It was quite unnatural and I too got an initial burning sensation reaction in my eyes and nose. I was simply reminded of an icy cold cough drop.The dry down was more tolerable when the aquatic quality of the lotus comes in with a soft rose and warm musky base. Reflection In A Drop must have come from the condensation of a pool because I was highly reminded of chlorine from my swimming days except with citrus florals. There was no sunshine nor any delicacy of droplets. For me this captured an image of after rain cement that gives off a cold distant smell of too much acerbic sake. 4-5 hours of longevity with moderate to soft silage. I was very grateful to be able to return this one. Not unpleasant, but not my cup of tea or booze.

Maybe my bottle was damaged, but this was nearly foul. The opening burned my nose with a synthetic, rubbing alcohol sensation. I had to pull my face away -- it literally hurt. The chemical fumes soon dissipated and I was exposed to some evaporated citrus notes, which lasted about 10 seconds. Then (once my nostrils stopped burning) I detected some barely-existent heart notes, where there was an odd carnation and a muddled rose. I had to actually bury my nose into my wrists in order to strangle out a scent. The dry down was an incredibly quiet, subtle musk. I got absolutely no vanilla, and am surprised it is even supposed to be in there. I notice the same alcohol-sour opening in all three of Issey's "A Drop" series. I'm a huge original L'eau d'Issey fan, so I wonder why I'm hating these limited edition releases so much, given how they're supposed to be variations of the original. Perhaps all three of my bottles are damaged, or the missing floral-wood notes simply leave these as sour, acidic renditions of the original.

This is a really nice scent for summer. In the beginning, you can smell a lot of citruses, but they're not harsh, as there's a sweet base underlying the perfume. This sweet base smells almost identical to Omnia Crystalline, which I love. However, I will not be buying this as I already have Crystalline and they are too similar. I think I'll just mix a bit of my brother's Givenchy Blue Label, which is very citrussy, with my Omnia Crystalline to get the same effect of Refection in a Drop.

Hmm, I'm curious to try this one now! A very nice Fragrantica member has recommended it to me and it does sound very nice and fresh! Had it not been recommended to me though I probably would have totally overlooked it because, as with several of the ladies who have commented here, I really hate the original Issey Miyake scent. This one sounds so much better though.

I can't stand the original, and this one is better in my opinion. At the beginning they are similar, but Reflection In A Drop is more citrusy and zesty. However, it's the drydown what makes me like this one better - the base is sweeter and more "benign" than the original one. Still, I don't like it.

Got this one for Christmas. I love it. Long lasting. Seems like a citrus version of the original, but still aquatic. Slight musky dry down.

Rec'd this as a Christmas present. a very light version of the original scent.....still trying to figure it out......
