Nuit D’Issey Noir Argent

What a fantastic scent, I had never heard of Issey Miyake before buying this aside from the odd fragrance pop up on a department store website. They weren't big in Canada and you hardly ever saw them but it seems that has changed a bit. I'm glad I grabbed this when I did as this was impossible to find another bottle of more recently when I kept checking a discounter for the Nuit D'Issey parfum version. How I'd describe Noir Argent is it's dark, rich and sweet, just smoky enough to give it this depth or definition without it being over powering or unwearable on most days where you'll be repelling people. This does the opposite. It's got this aromatic quality to it that trails in this complex and seductive amount of spices and finishes off with this sweet incense type scent. Not to be confused with obnoxious church incense. No you'll like this. It's a subtle amount of cherry cola like feel in the dry down with some fizziness. There is so little leather and grapefruit in this that it just helps the scent so I'll take their word it's in there the important thing is it smells good right? I can see this one being great for going out at night, around the holidays and winter as it has this almost Christmas type feel to it. That's just me. Comparing it to Black XS from 2005 Black XS is sweeter way less spicy, almost like an alcoholic beverage with strawberries involved. Noir Argent doesn't come off an alcoholic beverage at all , the incense and spices give this it's own identity, this comes off as dryer as well instead of a wet alcoholic beverage. Both are incredible fragrances different enough to wear one some days another other days. With other Paco Rabanne colognes I honestly hope Pure XS night is this nice. I thew an original release of Pure XS in the trash after 3 years of hardly wearing it. It's a bit of a stretch to compare this to one million, just the amount of spices that hit you is similar to one million but nowhere near as sweet. However I would not put anything Paco has done in the "Smells like" list coming from someone who used to be a big fan of their fragrances. This is dumb reach, a great introduction to incense. A solid winter fragrance, yet I do wear this sometimes in the summer when it's not stupidly hot out. Almost anyone can wear this in any situation it's that good. If you're into scents like black xs, spice bomb, bvlgari man in black (original) , drakkar noir or possibly aventus this is for you. This doesn't smell cheap at all. Lasts a very long time and projects really well. My brother was trying it out and he put one spray on. He was a good 3 or so feet away from me and I can see why with this less is more than the usual 4-5 sprays I do. I love how unique this is and this is an absolute classic.

I'm a huge fan of the Issey Miyake house, and the Nuit D'issey line holds a very special place in my heart. Hot on the heals of the NI EDT, Parfum, Bleu Astral, and Austral Expedition flankers, this was the 5th release in the line, and the best of all of what I would consider to be true Nuit D'issey flankers (all retaining the original Nuit D'issey DNA). This is what I would imagine a house like Amouage would release of you asked them to make their own interpretation of Nuit D'issey. Much in the way that Initio Rehab is a high end Spicebomb, or PDM Galloway is a high end White Lalique, this takes an existing DNA and tweaks it with higher quality ingredients and adds some much needed depth. This fragrance is almost black liquorice covered myrrh, with a twist of fresh grapefruit zest. The pepper is present and somewhat sharp, contrasted against the smooth sweetness of the base notes: It's a bold opening and has huge presence. In the dry down the leather and incense really start to shine, with light hints of realistic saffron. The notes settle down into a smokey semi-sweet incense over a beautiful natural patchouli, the vetiver realized and adding depth. Performance is excellent, easily pushing 10 hours on skin, days on fabric. A dark and mysterious fragrance that retains a playful edge. I think this fragrance is more versatile than many give it credit for, I think it would be fine in the spring for days and nights under 82° although the character of the fragrance may be a little heavy for daytime wear, it doesn't become cloying or overbearing in the high 70's. I would recommend this fragrance for confident men over the age of 28, although I could see certain younger guys wearing this, and a confident bold woman as well. While I do enjoy the Polaris "flanker" much more and Bois Arctic and Pulse of the Night a bit more, I don't consider any of those three to be true Nuit D'issey flankers, they all kind of do their own thing. This is as good as it gets if you want that NI DNA. This had a decently long production run compared to many of the other flankers (at least 2 years from what I can tell). The price is definitely climbing but it's not as hard to get a hold of as some of the other flankers, and if you are patient, you can find bottles in the $125-250 range, I think that price is kor than fair as this fragrance punched WELL above its original MSRP. 9.25/10 fragrance

Imagine fresh licorice and nutmeg smushed on a bed of vetiver and woods. This is what you get in the opening. The notes I pick up mostly are Myrrh, Nutmeg, & Leather. You can pick up the other notes slightly but the above makes up 80% of it. It’s not overly strong or heavy like you might think. It’s well blended, smooth & smells fantastic! As it dries down, it transforms into what I can describe as warm raisin oatmeal or even black tea w/ cloves if you’re familiar with that scent. It’s not too sweet, I’d say the equivalent of 2 packets of Sweet n’ Low in your cup of tea. Noir Argent is a dark fragrance by nature but not offensive. Let’s just say it’s different from what others out there are wearing, which is a good thing if you want to stand out. If I could associate it with a color, I would say the color dark purple. I’d say this fragrance is perfect for nights out & definitely cooler weather. This is the perfect “loner” fragrance. It’s a bit daring as the smell of licorice isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but as mentioned above, it dries down into a warm, cozy pleasant smell. Age-wise, I’d say 30+ but someone a little younger could certainly pull it off (wear what you want right?). Performance is in the 7-9hr range with a projection at arms length the first few hours. I get touches of BdC and of the original A*men. I’ve not tried the others from this line so I can’t compare. I don’t normally go for fragrances like this but I love it because it’s so different from anything I have in my small collection & because it’s unique from what everyone else has. Should definitely give it a try especially considering the quality of juice you’re getting for the price. Worth it in my opinion! -Purpose

This is a modern, timeless classic that stands apart against the rest of the designer fragrances and a few niche standouts as well. Why? Its the blending of the ingredients and combination of them that for me, this is nearly a 4 season wear fragrance. Perhaps in severe high heat you might want to abstain from using this juice but, you can get away with it with an easy trigger finger. The grapefriut & citrus opening is a near staple in all of Issey Miyake creations save for a limited few. And this one has it that then leads into a warm leather and spice ambience that is slightly dark, a bit bold and yet oh so smooth and slightly ambery sweet. Take that mid and combine it with the earthy patchouli and vetiver on the drydown for almost a delicous combination that is both slightly dirty and yet clean. This works superbly on my skin and takes me on a voyage that I wish would not end. This scent evolves beautifully yet is gorgeously simple on how it's created and how it melds on the skin. Simply sophisticated yet a refined and reserved masculinity that announces what a modern man should smell like. Both male & female will enjoy what this juice radiates off the skin. Is it a Masterpiece? I don't know but, it's real damn close...

I blind bought this despite not being a fan of the original Nuit d'Issey. I'm happy to report that this is a more well-rounded and accessible fragrance while maintaining that original Nuit vibe. The crowning achievement of this fragrance, IMO, is how the traditional Issey Miyake grapefruit opening seamlessly dries down into a dark, smooth base of leather, myrrh, and patchouli. I was caught off-guard by how sweet this fragrance is in the opening, but hours later, it had transformed into a true "Nuit" fragrance. It's one of those drydowns that's tough to pin down at any one point. It's just really, really nicely blended. Performance is about what you'd expect from a fragrance like this. I get 8 hours easily; not beastly, but persistent. Overall another great fall/winter release from Issey Miyake. They have been doing a great job lately and this makes me want to delve deeper into the line.

The whole Nuit d’Issey lineup is excellent. These gems are hidden in plain sight, as it were, as they can easily be ignored due to the number of flankers and look-a-like bottles. However, for those who go down the rabbit hole, great rewards await. Argent is such a smooth, lightly sweet, warm, leathery scent with a hint of characteristic Miyake citrus up top. The addition of myrrh and olibanum set Argent apart from the others in the same family. This one has more in common with Nuit d’Issey Parfum than the original EDT- softer, rounder, warmer. As far as affordable designer fragrances go, the Nuit line is kicking out some of the most compelling, beautiful scents in the past few years. Too bad they aren’t getting any attention... or maybe that’s not such a bad thing for those of us who have already discovered them. Let’s keep them for ourselves!

This smells like a distinguished man. This is not a sexy cologne for someone who wants to attract attention, this is for someone who commands it. I love the fact that it isn't a cold weather scent in this age that isn't overdosed with sweetness. Starts with citrus and the resins quickly come right after. There's leather in the background and also a smoky incensy undertone. Performance is good too This has the same DNA as original Nuit d'Issey but I don't like that one and I love this one. The original has strong synthetic leather that just doesn't leave you while this one is so so well balanced. I've tried it a couple of times and I'm getting a bottle for sure. An easy 9 on 10

It is very nice scent , it is warm and soft , suites for colder weather more , I found reviewer of this said it more suitable for dressier occasions, but I think if you like a fragrance you can wear it anytime you want .. Unfortunately, projection is good for the first hour only, then it became a skin scent . Longevity is not good either , it last " on my skin " for about five hours, and at this point you must stick your nose to skin and take deep breath to smell it ..but on clothes it stays for days and days. Apart from that, it is really nice scent , I love it from first sniff..

Cola and delicious wood cigar box, in a not old man but not a clubbing kid either. If you like Luna Rossa Extreme you'll probably like this one. Why are both discontinued...? One of my favourite openings of any fragrance ever. So glad I have almost a full bottle of this. Projects like a beast for up to an hour, then more intimate but not a skin scent by any stretch. I like to put this one on my jackets--lasts forever on them and makes the closet smell amazing. Superb dry down. If I lost mine I would legitimately think about spending too much on another.

First, I love the look of the bottle! The gradient black from the cap to the bottom of the bottle is visual beautiful. As for the scent, it's a slightly sweet, leathery fragrance with nice projection and solid staying power (it performed about 6-7 hrs on my skin). I haven't bought a Miyake fragrance in years, but Noir Argent was highly recommended by another fragrance enthusiast. And he was absolutely right! This is a beautiful, dark, masculine scent that will shine best in the colder months. I highly recommend it!

I just tried this in store, with two other issey miyake, super majeure and nuit d'Issey , and just fallen in love with this one I generally found Amber fragrance more suitable for females, but this one it takes more masculine feel .. it just smells so beautiful what makes me think to buy a bottle tomorrow.. Longevity, I don't know unfortunately, I needed to wash my hands.. but for sillage , my brother smelled it immediately when I back home.. For its price it just incredible

A couple years after trying it for the first time, this has to be one of the finest fragrances I've smelled. Such a smooth and classy concoction that just smells incredible, especially in (as the name alludes) nighttime and/or cooler weather situations. If Creed, Tom Ford, Parfums de Marley, etc. came out with this beauty, people would be stumbling over themselves to praise it. It would be THE fall/winter hype train fragrance. Oh well, more for me. :)

Glad I got a bottle of this for cheap when I did. When I’m tired of the tobacco and/or vanilla sweet gourmand cold weather frags, I go for this. The top notes give it this great spicy cola vibe without being too sweet or too bright. Lasts a while, the leather is less prominent than other frags and mixes nicely with the woods. Not a cozy under the blanket vibe. Dark, brilliant, sexy. A cold weather date night scent with clear intentions.

I already own this fragrance and to me this one smells a bit like the original nuit only better done, the difference to me is that the original had a more earthy vibe, while this one has a very nice dark leather vibe, but they are both pretty dark scents, it also resemblance Astral and Austral blue with that citrus opening and the beautiful drydown. The fragrance itself projected for about 2 hours and lasted about 7 hours.

Myrrh, Nutmeg and black pepper create this toasty, nutty and decadent scent suited for coldest winter days and nights. Issey and Dominique Ropion are killing the game with this one. When you see that tall black Issey bottle, go right ahead and try it. These black bottles are cold weather winners, hands down!! This scent is certified mysterious and will sit in the cold air of Fall & Winter. 10/10 IMO.

Oh God. I'm not a friend of Issey's Miyake line but this perfume shocked me. Very elegant, tasty and luxurious. For 40€ in discount it's a steal. Monsieur Ropion did it again. It's a really well blended juice. Very comfortable smell for men and women. Personally I haven't smell something similar. 3 season scent (except summer). It reminds me a luxury clothing boutique. A must have.

My local shop had this on sale for around $47 (they usually go for $60). It's quite heavy and dark yet sweet and playful at the same time. Reminds me a bit of Proraso Wood & Spice aftershave but sweeter. For me this is a special occasion kind of scent, a date or a wedding. It projects loudly and lasts 6-7 hr on my skin. This is a winner 9/10

This is an incredible underrated date night scent that should be in your lineup somewhere. Everything is well blended and interesting and so far I haven't smelled much like this. It's my second time trying Issey Miyake and again I find myself impressed. This will be a near-definite re-buy but I want to try the rest of the line first.

Finally, a dark-blue fragrance without the curse that is vanilla. Perfect daily driver for people who need just a little more than your average blue frag. Oh wait, discontinued already. Can't believe it, one of the best rated fragrances from the line and it's already gone.

What a wonderful scent! The opening reminds me briefly of the sweetness of Armani Code Absolue, but the dry down is smooth leathery, resinous, little bit fruity and peppery. To me it smells a little gourmandish also. Wonderful for colder seasons and also night time.

dark, spicy, peppery, sharp. managed to get this really cheap so to me it was a steal for a long lasting scent that really permeates. im not sure id pay full price for it as it doesnt stand out and isnt too unique, but still a good fragrance altogether

I picked up a half-bottle on Facebook and it's fantastic! Amber, incense, resins, leather, and a beautiful cola sweetness riding shotgun. This is nearly impossible to find, and I can see why the prices are high. I'm now on the hunt for a full bottle!

What an awesome fragrance! Was very hard to find for a good price, but finally did. Very cuddly, warm myrhh patchouli saffron frag, with a leathery, labdanum backbone. Great for fall and winter. Very good performance too. A big love from me!!! 92

Three words & 7 syllables; Middle eastern luxury. They really discontinued a gem with this one but I can see why seeing as how it isn’t usually going to be a crowd pleaser and is pretty restricted to very cold and night times. Despite this, 9/10

Excellent opening, sweet, balsamic and resinous. The drydown is similar to the original Nuit d'Issey. But it seems to have been better done and more smoother than the original nuit, which is why I prefer this one. Good job Mr. Ropion!

From the opening to the base notes: Playful - attractive - alluring - sexy - great sex - cuddle and sleep together I think it is best not to wear it on summer because the warm notes on the middle(or base?) Can hurt your nose

This is a hidden gem if this was made by dior or valantino you'll pay at least 150 $ for it.wow I'm just in love with it. If you want me to describe it it's zoro's scent if zoro uses a fragrance it's this one.

Opens quite beautifully, although it could be too loud and dark for some at that stage... It settles into the most amazing pillow of dark myrrh, labdanum and patch that sits with you for at least 10 hours.

Smells amazing! I stopped a gentleman to ask him what he was wearing and it was this. My next purchase definitely! Very oriental, spicy, mystical, like night walking in the desert under the full moon.

Just got to sample this today, waw love the dark richness it exudes.Remindes me a bit of (John varvatos dark rebel rider). Don't know how I'm gonna wear it out here in Jamaica but it will be worn.👌

A dark scent, perfect in every way possible, last forever!. I am not afraid to say that is the best release of Issey Miyake until now, if you haven’t tried yet you don’t know what you are missing!.

Sublime , sophisticated and delighted by its scent . The best Issey so far , this designer does it better with woody and smoky fragrances. Totally different from the rest , one of a kind .

To my nose, it smells like Creed Aventus but with a Coca Cola note instead of pineapple! This one is fantastic!

Finally sampling Issey Miyake Nuit D’Issey Noir Argent, one of the many Issey Miyake flankers under the Nuit D’Issey subline, released in 2018. It definitely has a bit of a Bleu de Chanel EDP / Versace Dylan Blue vibe, as there’s a vaguely blue/green/woody/fruity connection. This is a case where the note listing isn’t particularly helpful, but what I get most prominently is a mix of grapefruit, pink pepper, saffron, patchouli, nutmeg, and mixed resins and woods. It’s both semi-fresh and semi-dark: it walks that line very well, an effective transition from something that brightens up enough in the morning to being apropos in the evening. It’s also ever so slightly spicy (via the pepper and nutmeg) but certain the sweet/fresh/fruity aspects win out over the spicy ones, in this case. Noir Argent is a very-affordable $38 for the standard 100ml size on FragranceNet (and $43 on FragranceX) currently, so like most of what Issey Miyake releases, it ended up becoming pretty cheap within a year or two of release, a welcome precedent for designer releases. I’m fairly comfortable calling this a “like” not a “love,” something I’d welcome wearing if I have it available, as I do in a decant, but in this case, it leans toward something I probably wouldn’t buy, even for its great price, simply due to its redundancy with similar fragrances, though I’ll continue to try it out. Still, it stands on its own ground as something worth looking into, as this is signature scent worthy on the basis of agreeability and balancing out a few different genres. It’s woody and fruity but not especially too much of either, and performs decently well. 7 out of 10

Nuit d'Issey..again? Noir Argent (NR) smells so close to the original Nuit d'Issey (NdI), that I think this might have been one of the formulas Mr. Ropion presented to the brand when he was pitching the original NdI. It smells of that same leathery, lightly-spiced woods, just a bit rounder. I really hoped for more myrrh and saffron but I was left disappointed. Now, I love the original NdI. I thinks it is gorgeous. So I do love the smell of NR, however, I find it redundant. Yes, it a bit more rounder than the original, but for once the sharpness actually works in a fragrance, as it give the original a serious edge. Even side by the side the difference is not significant. If you are a fan of NdI, NR is a possible alternative for something similar with a mild change. However, it is not worth having both at the same time in the same wardrobe. A mature, romantic wear better suited for the cooler nights. I like the smell but dislike the redundancy, that makes NR a "Like" rather than a love.

This is one of my all time favorites from IM. Noir Argent is deeply resinous, with emphasis on myrhh and a soft leather accord. Unlike a few of Issey Miyake releases, there are no loose or jagged notes in this one -- everything has a place and fits into that place well. There is a bit of a camphoric buzz at the top, probably some combination of saffron and patchouli -- but it really only registers up close and for mere minutes. That's about all I can say I don't like about this one, and that's saying something. Performance is average for the type -- it's not a projection king, though that can be easily fixed by overspraying. (But don't.) I get a good 6-8 hours, depending on the day's conditions, which is reasonably good. In some respects, this strikes me as a more sultry, "evening wear" version of the slightly soapy but similarly balsamic Prada Amber Intense. Both are myrhh-centric standouts that deserve the high marks they get here. For the price, you can do a lot worse.
