Nuit d'Issey Pulse Of The Night

Today I'm heading back to the renowned house of Issey Miyake to finally take a look at a super-hyped, discontinued fragrance: Nuit d'Issey Pulse of the Night. This is a fragrance that I have spent a long time looking for—the better part of two years. Around the same time I started my fragrance journey, I heard this fragrance mentioned along with Polaris as being one of the best fragrances Issey Miyake offered. Polaris proved a bit difficult to find, but I was ultimately able to scoop it up from an online discounter when it came up for sale one day. Pulse of the Night, however, took searching, digging, and waiting. Now that I finally have it in my collection, it's time for a true blind review. Let's get into it. Opening: The opening is a masterful blend of wood, deep earthiness, and rich balsamic accords. The primary notes I discern are amber, tonka bean, Kyara incense, and vanilla, with the Kyara incense and amber being the most prominent. When I first sprayed this fragrance, I got the unmistakable aroma of oud. It was dark, earthy, and woody—all accords I've learned to associate with the note. However, I was confused as oud wasn't listed in the note breakdown. Upon research, I learned that Kyara is apparently one of the highest and most prized grades of agarwood, or oud. In this fragrance, it seems to be mixed with an olibanum note similar to what's used in Hugo Boss Bottled Elixir to create "Kyara Incense," giving it a bit of a balsamic and spicy tone as well. Behind the Kyara incense is the amber, adding a deep, rich, and resinous balsamic accord. Next is the tonka bean and vanilla. The tonka bean gives the opening a familiar, warm, powdery sweetness. Lastly, the vanilla adds more sweetness in the background but is differentiated by its inherent creaminess. I have seen this fragrance compared to Parfums de Marly's Herod, and I somehow get that. This is odd, since Pulse of the Night doesn't have any tobacco in it, but the likeness is undeniable. I even somehow get some of the unlisted cherry accord that Herod has. Dry Down: The dry down is defined by its balsamic, sweet, and woody character. The primary notes I get are still Kyara incense, amber, vanilla, and tonka bean. However, the strongest of the notes are now the Kyara incense and vanilla. The Kyara incense is still the highlight in the dry down, but the oud element of the note has tapered off, leaving the olibanum element to carry most of the note with an amplified balsamic spiciness and just a whisper of the dark, earthy woodiness from the opening. Meanwhile, the vanilla has come to the forefront to provide an increased dose of the creamy sweetness that lingered in the background of the opening. This is followed by the amber and tonka bean. The tonka bean still plays a supporting role in the dry down and is discernible by the same warm, powdery sweetness it held in the opening. Lastly, the amber has stepped into the background for just a touch of added balsamic richness. That similarity to Herod persists into the dry down as well, albeit without the mysterious cherry accord. Performance: The initial projection is very robust and can easily fill a room. Sillage matches that intensity with a dense and heavy scent trail. After a few hours, the projection was still at least six feet, and the scent trail was still very heavy. At the seven to eight-hour mark, the projection was still holding on at around five to six feet, whereas the scent trail was lighter but still discernible. The fragrance faded to a skin scent approximately 10-12 hours later. When to Wear: Pulse of the Night is a fall/winter fragrance that is best suited for evening wear. This is the type of scent profile that is a knockout for special occasions like date nights or anniversaries. It also has enough class and depth to be worn fittingly as a formal fragrance. However, I wouldn't wear it casually or to the office. Blind Buy: If you appreciate warm and sweet fragrances in the style of Herod, this is a safe blind buy for you. Final Verdict: As I stated, many people consider Pulse of the Night to be the pinnacle of the Nuit d'Issey line. After having finally experienced it myself, I am inclined to agree. From opening to dry down, the fragrance is a rich, woody composition that commands attention and exudes masculine confidence. The performance leaves nothing to be desired either and will project and leave a scent trail long enough for whatever your needs may be. With it being discontinued, it is going to be difficult to find. However, if you ever run across this gem, buy it. You will not be disappointed. Nuit d'Issey Pulse Of The Night by Issey Miyake --- After watching Fragrance Reviewer Ashton Kirkland's video on Youtube named, AMAZING FRAGRANCE | ISSEY MIYAKE NUIT D'ISSEY PULSE OF THE NIGHT REVIEW, I was immediately compelled, instantly considered a blind-buy, quickly proceeded to grab a bottle on eBay, considering only a handful were left by one particular seller. Besides Ashton's compelling, impressive review, I'm providing my own observations and opinions. The fragrance opened with some subtle incense, quickly followed by tonka bean, with a vanilla accord to create some level of sweetness, and right there, I was puzzled, wondering if vanilla is comprised of the top notes. Then, the amber made its grand entrance to intensify the sweetness, and I'm not talking about anything too sweet or cloying. After about 15 minutes, the noticeable sweetness started to dissipate, paving the way to a powerful trio among the tonka bean, amber, and patchouli, a trio that's quite comparable to a tight interplay of a piano-trio in jazz parlance, lasted for approximately 45 minutes. Each note perfectly performed its intended supportive role, harmonized to deliver greatness. The base notes, leather, woodsy notes, vetiver, sandalwood and vanilla, then started to heavily command the scene to an outstanding finale. I find this scent to be quite alluring, playful, captivating, flirtatious, daring, and sexy. Needless to say, it's the perfect date or romantic scent. The bottle design is similar to all the other flankers, but this one, in particular, is absolutely beautiful, black with gold stripes, and the feel is quite smooth, superbly crafted. The cap (snuggles) snaps firmly, so you won't need to worry about accidental unsnapping and spraying while in a bag / backpack / luggage. According to what I've also noticed, its overall nuance, characteristics, and developments, not identical aroma, are quite similar to Yves Saint Laurent's La Nuit de L'homme. They're different fragrances in their own rights, but they do possess some similar traits, which might have to do with the word, night / nuit, as in French. Both fragrances are magically blended, and they deliver power-punches of aromatic flairs. In being silly, perhaps I will claim it's Nuit d'Issey Pulse Of The Night's version of the much-talked-about, popular La Nuit de L'homme. Once again, the scents are not similar, just some (styles) nuances. This fragrance is upscale Designer level. As for performance, it's outstanding. I got approximately 10 hours of longevity, huge projection for approximately 2-3 hours, and enormous sillage for approximately 6-7 hours. In conclusion, Nuit d'Issey Pulse Of The Night, eau de parfum concentration, is an extraordinary release for 2019. I have some strong feeling that it will be quickly sold-out upon official release, and it “might” possibly become in-demand / sought-after. Now, I hate saying what I'm about to say, but grab your bottle early on, whenever you can, in order to avoid any possible reformulation nightmares, or the usual, frustrating reformulation discussions.

I've had this since early on in my interest in fragrances, so I've been able to eke it out whilst I buy and try others, even though it's still one of my favourites. I feel it has changed a little, over the 3 years. The incense isn't quite so forward and seems to have subsided or melded into the ambery accord. It's not better just different. I just layered it over some pure Iso E Super I got from Éclat and it goes really well. I remember I wore this, once, in a local Asian grocer's shop, where their daughter was helping out around the shelves, out on the shop floor. I could tell that she really liked it it. She started pottering about closer to wherever I was. When I was taking a while at one place, she asked if there was something I was looking for and offered to help. Sometimes, when I'm wearing something nice like this, or Prada Black, I think I see it affecting how people are, towards me. Not in a cheesy 'making me attractive, Lynx advert, kind of way. Just affecting moods when people smell something extra pleasant, or something like that. Making people happy or chilled that you're the kind of person who makes an effort, like that and they like it; maybe putting them at ease or brightening up their day, a little, with something interesting and pleasant. Or maybe, in the case of shop staff, they're just glad you're not another one of the customers who stinks, ha. Anyway, in my experience, this does that and Prada Black used to do it, too. This is, sadly, discontinued and if I knew of a good dupe I would definitely buy it. P Black, I feel, has been reformulated and diluted up the wazoo, so I buy Éclat 'Ambery Angelica' dupes of that and eBay oil dupes of it and 'Midnight In Paris', instead. Trust me, if you like any of the three I just mentioned, (not that they're the same) you will love both the other two, too.

So, I just bought a bottle today for about $65 (yes it’s authentic) and it is a 2019 batch as well, it was sealed and it was just sitting there at the shop and the box was just collecting dust and this fragrance has been on my radar for a while so I finally got it. The opening to me is a ton of zingy and sweet cherry? Which is not listed at all and barely any people point it out except for the guy below me and that makes me feel great, it also does have a nice oud essence to it and i’m assuming that’s from that Kyara Incense. And of course it has sweet deep vanilla and leather and it smells very gorgeous. But I really hope the performance is actually good during the winter, cause right now it was pretty underwhelming. It also took me a REALLY deep sniff to smell any of that sweet sweet vanilla. I might be coping but, i hope the fragrance “finds itself” or “wakes up” again lol, cause it’s such an old bottle and it has just sat there for such a long time and maybe since it hasn’t been sprayed or moved or shaken i hope now that i own it and use it, it becomes how it once used to be (probably BS). So i sprayed a good amount of sprays of it today, i shook the bottle a good amount, hoping everything would get better about it in a matter of time. Even if it doesn’t change the way i want it to It’s still an 8.5/10 EDIT !!️!!️!!️ It’s now november, and the fragrance is absolutely awesome and PERFECT. It has changed a bit, i can now smell more vanilla and leather and the cherry smell has toned down, and there is a small amount of smokiness in the background, DAMP AND EARTHY Absolutely perfect, i was always pulled to this bottle for some reason whenever i saw it, glad i got it.

This is to me a better performing, a bit more ambery and dark version of Herod. I love the smell of Herod but i get terrible performance from a lot of different, recent batches i've tried. This opens totally different from herod, it's very ambery, a bit boozy and woody. After a few minutes the spicies, the vanilla/tonka and the tobacco (not listed) become more prominent and develops into a Herod like fragrance. The frankincense plays a big role in this fragrance, it gives that smokey, tobacco feel and makes it dark and alluring. This has amazing quality, the main differences to me from herod are that this is darker, has a more prominent note of amber, less vanilla and has leather. The performance is amazing, 10+ hours longevity with good projection. This could be worn mostly fall and winter, it's better suited for evenings and nights. To me this is more masculine than herod, because of the leather and the woods but a woman could pull this off. Overall, i just love this!! This is the great performing Herod i was looking for and i got it for the 1/4 of the price! It's not 100% the same fragrance but i dare to say that i like this a bit more. I guess that it will be discontinued, like noir ambre and if you want to get it don't sleep on it. I am intrigued to try more of the Issey Miyakee's cold weather offerings!

This was a tough decision for my Issey collection at this point in time for a fragrance that was once $80 at retail. For those who don't know, wanted but discontinued fragrances go through 4 sales levels. 1. Retail / online cosmetic stores 2. Fragrance Discounter Warehouses/ eBay 3. Ebay (getting rare) / online cosmetics store (limited) 4. Ebay unicorn (4 or less worldwide) I got this at near stage 4. Was it worth it? Stage 4 is for collectors or high clientele resellers. You just don't buy at this stage to shop, there's newer stuff. As my 17th Issey including the Argent testers the answer is yes. Fortunately most of the collection was had at stage 2. A few at stage 3. One, was at stage 4 but was at a stage 3 price, Bois Arctic. Pricing upswings vary on a few factors. Currently their are two Stage 4 Isseys on the market that I don't have. And I won't. This fragrance reminds me of a cross between Luna Rosa Black for it's light but persistent smoke (2 sprays) and Spicebomb Extreme for the high quality vanilla but there's differences with this being tonka to leather in amber. Makes it a richer blend, creamy rather than spicy to resinous tobacco. Mercedes Benz Club Black is like a sweatshirt version of this. Now I just need the OG. Bleu Astral was my 1st Issey.

Luckily, I was able to blind buy a 15ml decant of this hard to find beauty and I would say its a gorgeous masculine scent for evening encounters. I have high respect for Issey Miyake lines and so far, this is the number one for me. Performance wise, not bad. As far as longevity in my skin, it’s ok 👍 but I want more 😉 Some folks compared this to Guerlain L'homme Ideal EDP and PDL Herod but each nose is different so I didn't really see that close similarity for comparison as many folks voted, but a faint vibe similar to Lhomme ideal was noticeable after a few min of application. Probably on full wearing that's when you noticed the similarity. This is powdery in a good way and comforting on the dry down, simply gorgeous. This is the type of fragrance that I would like to wear at home or night ops 🙂. Just a couple of spritz from this nocturnal beauty before going to bed and I’m solved 👌 I’ll give this wonderful juice a 9.5/10 Update 6/23/22 Finally, I pulled the trigger and was able to buy a 100 ml BNIB from Mercari. I am so in love with this fragrance and I am very happy. “Let us spread the scents of peace and kindness. The two most beautiful fragrance in the world that will cost you nothing and will get you a totally different kind of compliments” 🙏

I absolutely love this one. It's just a rich, balsamic, sweet, comforting, sexy, cosy, night time smell. Having read the comments about it being a "niche"-style Issey, I must say that I find it quite "designer", in that it is neither challenging nor polarising. The only unusual aspect is perhaps the incredible olibanum note at the top, which despite being deeply resinous comes across as incredibly fresh, and really is a joy to behold. On first sniff the Herod comparisons are obvious, although it lacks the cigarette that Herod has in it's background. As it dries down it moves much closer to a L'Homme Ideal vibe, of vanilla with a sweet almondy/cherry texture. For me it's strength is that it feels very rich and satisfying, yet it's so easy to wear. Performance is good; it's no monster but it lasts long enough. Love it. EDIT after 4 years: I don't wear this much, but I like it as much as I ever did. It's beautiful. Wearing it today, i had to look up whether it had any shared notes with Bois d'Argent, as there is something similar in there - it actually has six: Incense, amber, vanilla, leather, woods, patchouli. They are not the same by any means, but they both have an ethereal, magical vibe. This is like the more promiscuous half cousin of BdA.

This is 100% the best Issey Miyake fragrance ever created and probably my personal favorite of any house. It's impossible to find nowadays (at least for a reasonable price), which is a shame, because more people need to get their noses on this. The two other fragrances that this gets compared to are PdM Herod and Guerlain l'homme Ideal EDP. I guess I can see some similarities, but Pulse of the Night is leagues better than both of those. It's smoother, creamier, spicier, and just all around smells better. The other two have a cough syrupy / medicinal vibe to me that I don't like, while PotN has more of a cake / pastry smell. I also think it smells somewhat like candy corn. It's definitely sweet, but has the spices to balance it out to where it's not nauseatingly sweet like some other gourmand frags. I wear this all the time in the fall, which to me is the perfect time to wear it. Winter works as well, but this thrives in the fall. In the spring and summer I find myself sniffing the atomizer almost every day, just waiting for the cooler weather to roll around so I can wear it. It's such a good fragrance and absolutely deserves all the hype it gets. Overall 10/10.

Great stuff, one of the better offerings in the Nuit D'issey line. To me, this is a precursor to Polaris, they share the same DNA, but Polaris just feels like a more complete composition (as an example , think Encre Noire vs Encre Noire a la Extreme). I just bought a backup of PotN for relatively cheap (compared to current 2025 prices). I kind of regret it now, wish I had just gotten another bottle of Polaris and saved myself a few extra bucks in the process. I just enjoy Polaris more and don't find myself reaching for Pulse as much, although Pulse is a bit more versatile. PotN is a solid frag and also shares some DNA with Bois Arctic which is probably my second favorite in the line. I don't think PotN is worth nearly as much as most sellers are demanding. If you can find a bottle for $150 it's not a bad buy, I wouldn't pay a penny more than that though. I would rank them in order from best to worst to my nose: Polaris>Bois Arctic>Noir Argent>PotN>Parfum>EDT>Austral Expedition >Bleu Astral>

This is one of the best Trio Issey Miyake Night fragrance that really ASTOUNDING and UNIQUE (Noir Ambre, Or Encens and Pulse of The Night) Polaris and Noir-A got similarities DNA vibe to the OG Nuit D'issey so it's not worth to pay high price for those two as long as OG Nuit D'issey still around with normal price. Pulse of the night is not Herod but yeah it got the same vibe, but I don't like strong tobacco notes so this is better scent. I don't separate Fragrances by "Niche" "Designer" "Local" or whatever people wanna say. What i believe SCENT is the MOST important, what's the point of Niche(Art) fragrance with best ingredients but smell Stinks and just a few "Artistic Person" like it. I will choose synthetic ingredients (But safe on the body) fragrance with beautiful scent that not smells synthetic. Pulse of The Night is such Great Quality Blend that very worth the price. But it is discontinued😮💨 what a shame. Issey Miyake need to learn how to choose which fragrance they discontinued.

Probably not a dupe, but it does smell close to L'Homme Ideal EDP and even closer to Herod (very close, actually), although Herod and L'Homme Ideal EDP do have better quality (not that this one doesn't have a good quality, it's actually great for the price). I can smell just a hint of cherry (even though it is not listed, I kinda get the cherry, probably because of the blend), a prominent leather, a heavy dose of amber, olibanum, and tonka bean, with a touch of vanilla. For the price, it is very good and the quality is also really good, but it is getting really difficult to find. Oh, and the performance is also very good! I'm impressed! Edit: After a few more sprays, now I think it smells closer to L'Homme Ideal EDP and Mancera's Wild Cherry. I can really smell the cherry very clearly from the opening to drydown, despite there's no cherry in the note breakdown.

Guys, since it’s been discontinued and sell high price on the market Carefully when you think you found Pulse of The Night, lately i saw a seller who sell online that got bunch of stock of it, and once i saw it street market. The difference i found is vs Original is: 1. Head Sprayer glossy black(fake) the original got a bit doff texture just like other issey miyake 2. Golden stripes looks like brownish color and the size of each stripes almost same(fake) the original one got beautiful golden stripes and the stripes vary 3. The Cap is light and plastic(fake) the original is pretty heavy and outer part of cap made of metal 4. Oval Offset lines at Bottom part too big almost to the corner(Fake) the original one smaller and focusing in the middle just like the other Issey Miyake Bottle May this detail information i found help you

I just registered to say how great this fragrance is. It's sold out in all Issey Miyake stores in Japan, so this was basically a blind buy when I found it on an online store for 7000yen ($50-ish as of 2022). Not many people wear fragrance here in Japan, and the strong incense opening reminded me of Japanese temple or even cemetery, but this smells SO, DAMN, GOOD. This is probably the first winter sweet fragrance that I actually like. The sweetness of vanilla and tonka is met with a perfect balance of smokiness, which lasts over 8 hours on my skin. It dries down to the sweet woody note which is absolutely beautiful as well. This is definitely not an office fragrance, and I'm still in the process of figuring out what occasion to wear this. But this is simply too good to not have at this price point.

This is the best Miyaki that i own, spicy creamy powdery, the openeing is just the same as Armaf Radical Brown which is much louder to start then becomes weeker later. Meanwhile Pulse of the night starts Moderatly and then starts to crank up the the flavour, the spice fades a little but remains througout and the the creamy powder continues to be moderate and just keeps going till the end. Its 10 hrs since i applied and im still getting waves of it when i move and my clothes are infused with it . my wife remarked that she had it all over her hands after putting me to sleep with ear tickles :) and that was at the 6 hr mark so as you can see it has great longevity. she loves it! This is not a beast in terms of loudness but its definately a beastly marathon runner of a perfume.

I bought this one only because the Youtube community praised it, and it was the last bottle in the store. It reminded me of something familiar, but at the time, I couldn't remember what. But then, when I came home and put it on the shelf beside YSL M7, I had a flashback. Their undertones are identical, except M7 has a cherry vibe on top, whereas Pulse has a more balsamic top. When sprayed both (on different arms, of course), I almost get anosmic to M7 after smelling Pulse. However, I could detect the "leather" undertone in Pulse of the Night, but only after smelling both fragrances simultaneously. Otherwise, it's mostly amber/vanilla and patchouli/labdanum. **Updated** Wow! It just blew my head off! I guess it starts to shine at lower temperatures.

Why do I smell Hot Chocolate? So I sprayed this on to test this today... i was very excited to receive a sample in my latest trade I have completed.. sprayed it on around 10 pm its 2.5 hours later and radiating off my skin.. but one qustion.. How does this smell like a spicey hot chocolate with out any chocolate note or accord.. Then it came to me! Its the patchouli.. then I started thinking of Narciso Rodriguez for him which I love both of these frags are in the same space.. The frankensence adds a nice mature spice.. This is good I hope someone dupes this because the price for this is outrageous.. I love this stuff.. not as much as Polaris tho.. thats Issey's best in the Nuit line :) Rating Exceptional 9.2

When I picked this up, my mind immediately went to L'Homme Ideal Eau de Parfum. Went to vote it in, when I did it had a negative vote. Instead of feeling like my nose is crazy, it's reassuring that I wasn't the only person to vote it as similar smelling. While they're not identical, that's not what 'smells like' is for. This is a slightly darker brother to LHI. It's a full leather, almost generic (but not in a boring or unpleasant way) with a soft, sweet olibanum accord that persists throughout. I said this to a friend and I'll say it here, I have many fragrances but I genuinely think this would be one of a select few fragrances I'd take to a desert island. It's almost perfect.

I almost understand the comparison to Herod. It’s vaguely like Herod without the tobacco note but ultimately it’s a totally different fragrance. It is beautiful and I’m leaning toward it being the best of the Nuit d’Issey line. I have Or Encense, Noir Argent, Polaris and Amber Noir and to me, Pulse of the Night is a departure from the Nuit DNA. The powdery sweetness and floral notes ( I know that isn’t an official note) and the woods that come off with a slight Oud feel to me are unlike anything else from Issey Miyake. If I would compare it to anything, the sweet dry down is reminiscent of Dior Homme Intense but with a darker, woody presence.

Another killer scent from this house one of the best on the market.So this doesnt list tobacco but it's a tobacco masterpiece the vanilla and tobacco interplay is beautiful.Its also warm and cozy from the amber and Tonka bean. The trio of Noir Ambre Or Encens and this scent Pulse of the Night can all be had for less than £150 in total this is crazy an absolute steal.These three can cover you for the whole of winter.You will smell luxurious rich and unique no one will smell like you this is for the official fragheads. Update:All three are better than many niche fragrances these are stellar compositions they are truly all 10/10 in their genre.

I've been wearing this for a week and I'm loving it so far. The tonka+vanilla+amber+patchouli quartet is making the olibanum/frankincense opening reach gourmand heights and it's crazy. This is so far my favorite incense-based fragrance and even if the overall combination produced a very soft scent, there is quality in accords here that you can never underestimate. My only observation that is different from most reviews online is that this has average longevity and I can go trigger happy with the sprayer without worrying later. A delight to wear. Every note seems to be perfectly balanced and blended. Just the right amout of everything from this bottle. Produces pops of leather and vanilla from the base as it dries down through an Ambery incensed top. No note is over the the the top here.Really beautiful. Definitely suited a night out in the cold in a stylish black leather jacket. Not alpha male and dare I say it but somewhat unisex. One the ladies will like. I'd wear this on the same occasions I'd wear my beloved DH Intense. Decent performance but no beast,moderate to slight above projection. £35 paid, a steal at that price.

I've tried a lot of fragrances over the past year, and every once in a while I'm still blown away by a scent. I love this. It's a borderline beast mode scent while it's projecting, but it does settle closer to the skin after a couple hours. This is like taking noir ambre, pulling out the fiery saffron and adding in some vanilla with a touch of sweetness. Still undeniably masculine. It's not quite as "niche" feeling as noir ambre, but it's head and shoulders above other designer scents, and even better than Noir Argent, which I think is fantastic in its own right. Hard to find, worth the effort.

To me this is a combination of the original Nuit with almost a PDM Herod vibe as well as a little bit of a bandaid thing going on but in a very good way lol I know it sounds weird but that’s what I get. Quite nice for fall and winter. I don’t know if it could be pulled off in the warmer weather but either way it is really nice. It’s sweet but fresh at the same time. I can’t believe this hasn’t been talked about more in the frag comm. I knew I should’ve grabbed an extra bottle while it was cheap on Fragrancenet. Now you can’t find it anywhere.

Criminally underrated masculine smoky vanilla that forms a scent bubble of euphoria. Shalimar's well-travelled nephew perhaps. Smoky without tobacco or incense. Smooth. The olibanum, tonka and vanilla blend is mesmerising and brings to mind my 2000's nightclubbing days, not happy-go-lucky 1990's. The name 'Pulse of the Night" is also spot on. No annoying grapefruit or citrus freshie notes. Very difficult to find, only sold in Japan and on eBay from India. I bought a back up bottle as well. 5 out of 5 stars *****

Very proud to own a bottle of this after having tried it in early 2020. Surprisingly it works great in summer nights also. I partially agree with the guy below about the NO HEROD thing, but it is smokey to me and i loved my cigarettes in the past! Frankincense, smoke, amber and bourbon vanilla bomb on me. Smells like something Amouage would make for sure. It kinda leans in that interlude man family without the overdose of SOOT/ash, oud and oregano. 3-6 sprays is appropriate depending on situation.

its a really good fragrance especially for the price/smells like it should cost a lot more/extremely similar to herod in quality and smell// if u own herod u do not need this// if u dont own herod and want a cheaper alternative without giving up quality- go get this- theyre not perfect matches but close enough- yes its thats good! perfect fall and winter fragrance- for dates or nights out and can be a signature scent although it does work better at night// it smells amazing- its undeniable

Great and high quality scent. This smells like a blend between PdM Herod and Guerlain L'Homme Ideal EdP version, but without getting cloying or overly sweet (L'Homme Ideal EdP was too sweet for me). The beginning of the scent is L'Homme Ideal EdP + incense and the overal scent cloud reminds me of Herod. Also it has a bit of leathery and powdery vibe to it. The scent is quite linear for the most part, in that regard it differs from Herod. Love to wear it a lot though, I'll give it a 9/10.

This might be my favourite fragrance of all time. Definitely my favourite cold weather fragrance. Warm, powdery, sweet, creamy, tonka. You get the picture. From my experience, the sillage might be a bit on the weaker side of average. But the performance is absolute ULTRA MARATHON, STEROID SNORTING, JACK3D, KAMIKAZE, HITLER, T-REX, JIHAD, SERIAL KILLER, CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER ON METH, X-PLODE BEAST MODE! Once you spray, you be smelling it all day. We salute this absolute legend!

This is beautiful. It is unique, which is a four letter word for designer fragrances, hence the discontinuation. I cannot believe there isn’t a demand for a good quality dupe. To me, opens a little dark and cherry tobacco-y. Dries down very dry vanilla/powdery. Lasts about 7-9 hours. One of my all-time faves. I will buy every Issey Miyake cold weather fragrance they make from now on, before they go discontinued and multiply in price. This was well worth the $150 I found it for

Pulse Of The Night is exquisite💖 I am not one to compare or equate designer or niche, because there is good and bad in both. What I will tell you is that to me this beautiful fragrance is a mix of Guerlain's L’Homme Ideal EDP and Mugler's Pure Havane. Yes, I am getting a Pure Havane vibe in the dry-down, too. The sweetness that is so reminiscent in both of those amazing perfumes is here as well. Absolutely loving this. Pulse Of The Night is classy, luxurious and gentlemanly.

I'm not too crazy about the incense rich opening, which has a baby powder scent just like Prada luna rossa black. Performance is the most important factor when I pull the trigger on fragrances. In this case, the performance is outstanding, as I get 12-14 hours off of two sprays on skin. The sillage is powerful, so go easy on the sprays. To me the vanilla and leather notes is minute or none existant! I'm thinking about getting another bottle before it's reformulated!

My favorite perfume from the house of Issey Miyake. The perfumer name is missing from the description above - It is Loc Dong from IFF. The opening is wonderful and brings to my mind Vanilla and Tobacco (Although these are probably the Amber and Tonka). It settles slowly to an Incense Vanilla comforting smell which holds on me for 6 hours. I find Pulse to be a nocturnal scent, much more than Noir Argent and Polaris - two other stellar fragrances from the same series.

An incredible fragrance. Sweet, smokey amber then warm patchouli wrapped in vanilla, all incredibly smooth. Whilst it's fairly linear, there is a small amount of change as it mellows and becomes even richer and deeper like a velvet vanilla and amber pillow. A niche quality fragrance and you won't be able to stop sniffing yourself. A softer, richer, purer Prada Amber Intense to my nose but with lovely patchouli giving it a much more earthy feel. An absolute delight.

Firstly this barely has any resemblance to Herod unless you don't have a nose on your face, nor is it close to L'Homme Ideal EDP (If you smelt Herod and Ideal EDP separately you'd also say they smell nothing a like) so I don't get the connection people have. Glad I bought this when it came out as it appears as though its now discontinued, a fantastic scent that is warming but also very versatile with good longevity

Absolutely gorgeous. My favorite blind buy thus far in my fragrance journey. Upon first spraying, it's a bit harsh, giving off a strong, almost unpleasant leathery/suede vibe. But it quickly dries down into a creamy, ambery vanilla incense that is complex, addictive, and unique. Just enough sweetness to draw you in, just enough darkness to keep you interested. So excited to wear this as the weather gets cooler.

This fragrance is astonishing. One of the best vanilla fragrances ever created, and definitely in my top 5 designer fragrances of all time. I think what really stands out here is how smooth it is (especially as a designer and for the price). Performance was really good as far as I remember. 9.8/10 imo (EDIT: TRIED IT AGAIN AND THIS IS EVEN BETTER THAN I REMEMBER. RATING INCREASED TO A 10/10 IMO)

FIRST IMPRESSION: Excited to open this and I waited to do it on a special day as I was expecting very much from this fragrance. One of the fragrances that WOWed me when smelled in a shop was Oscent Black by Alexander J. I have Pulse of The Night on the skin for some time now and it seems like a more mass-appealing version of the Alexander J fragrance. I AM SOOO HAPPY!

This is simply a masterpiece by Issey Miyake. The longevity is phenomenal, and one can really feel how high quality this fragrance is. It is simply a treat at designer prices. Should be kept for special days and occasion. While it is a shame that it got discontinued, I actually cannot help but love the fact I am now an owner of something very exclusive.

Falls under the "niche at designer prices" category, this one. Lovely sweet incensey leather, also pick hints of pepper though it's not listed in the notes, classy and bold, smells very refined, perfect for colder nights of autumn or winter, would cut through the chilling winds quite well. One of the best offerings from Issey IMO. Overall 8.5/10

Had the chance to get a bottle of this and i must say i am very pleased! I can definitely feel an incense and smoky note at the beginning, but after that and until the dry down it remembers me a mix of Guerlain Homme Ideal Parfum and a bit of Dior Homme Intense. Longevity is about 8-10h and projection is good in the first 2h. 8.5/10

Right from the start the first whiff, I said out loud Herod is that you?! Quality, longevity and the price is just outstanding. Amazing blend. I got resins, tobacco and leather right away. Way down during the road came Amber and reminded me a bit of Noir Ambre from the same house. All in all amazing fragrance. A safe blind buy.

Fantastic , fantastic , fantastic . Smoky woody sweet fragrance , very very very well blended . Very high quality components . Guys don't smell it on a strip smell it on your skin it is completely different . In open air night cold weather it becomes more and more charismatic and pleasing . It is a magic in a bottle .

I had hoped for better from one of my favourite houses. It's 'nice'. That's pretty much it. Performance isn't so good at these current English temperatures of about 18°C...perhaps it'll do better in the latter months, though I'll concede as a blind-buy it was pretty pleasant yet underwhelming. I have hope.

Very Dark and preeminent scent. In winter, it's strong and present and people asking what i am wearing. 0 compliment so far but i wear it for me. It's not a crowd pleaser but i love it a lot. At least i will not smell like the ex-boyfriend of a lady :-) 10/10 Longevity is above average but not by much

What a beautiful scent. As a fan of tobacco based scents (Spicebomb, SBX, Herod, Bvlgari MIB, Initio Side Effect, etc.) this is my favorite of those I own. Just the right amount of depth, spice, warmth, incense, just perfect. If you’re here, interested in this, and can get your hands on it, get it. ✌️

Yet another supposed autumn/winter fragrance which, for me, has proven far more effective on warm evenings. It's really not at all cloying or heavy, and so it happily lends itself to a better projection with a little warmth off the skin, rather than cocooned beneath a piling of scarves and overcoats.

Great scent, what's not to like, mass compliments...The comparison to Herod, POTN is similar, in the same family but waaaaaay freaking better for a lot less. Notes and accords are far more pronounced and Herod is very linear and honestly a lil boring to my nose. Love it. ❤️

Be careful guys, I seen counterfeit bottles of this floating around. Only time I have ever seen that for an Issey Miyake frag.the spacing of the stripes is off, the cap also doesn't fit right on the bottle. I called one seller out but they still sold it for over $150.

I won’t bore you. If you like herod, you’ll like this. I don’t see it being all that comparable to a oajan. For $60 on fragrancebuy.ca, it’s an absolute steal. Probably would’ve been happy even if I’d paid $100 plus. One of the few where the hype matches the juice.
