Issey Miyake Nuit D’Issey Men EDT opens true to its notes. The opening brings a mix of mostly citrus and dark notes. The grapefruit is more noticeable than the bergamot, both create a fresh citrus accord that combines well with the dark notes. The leather, woodsy notes, ebony tree, and incense create a fantastic dark curtain that contrasts with the citrus notes. The black pepper and other spices seem to favor and enhance the dark notes, but the tonka bean comes to create a softly sweet, and aromatic tone that softens the dark nature of this fragrance. The vetiver and patchouli add a sharp green accord which blends well with the rest of the notes. As the fragrance dries down, the opening notes subside to half of its original power, they become just a whiff to counterbalance a fragrance that now, is mostly a dark scent. Also, the initial strong projection drops very quickly becoming moderate to low projecting fragrance. Once Issey Miyake Nuit D’Issey Men EDT has reached is full dry-down, it can be summarized as a moderate projecting, incense, dark woods, leather, and spicy fragrance, with green and soft citrus accords. The fragrance feels bold, classy, commanding, dark, dry, exotic, formal, imposing, masculine, mature, mysterious, nocturnal, refined, smoky, and very pleasant. BATCH REVIEWED: 2020 WOW RATING: 10/10. Enjoying a fragrance like this requires an appreciation for dark, leathery, and incense notes, this is not a mass appeal fragrance. PROJECTION: 2/10. Low, the fragrance opens with moderate to high projection but it drops by the minute. SILLAGE: 3/10. Low, the fragrance has little sillage. APPLICATION: Six atomizations to improve performance. Amouage Interlude Man EDP is the darkest fragrance of this house; Amouage Memoir Men EDP is a more wearable dark fragrance with stronger green tones, and outstanding performance; Chanel Les Exclusifs – Sycomore EDP, this is a “church” type of fragrance of high quality and moderate performance; John Varvatos Dark Rebel Rider, from the designer world, this fragrance is dark with incense, tobacco and leather notes, but moderate to low performance; similarly, John Varvatos Dark Rebel brings to the table woody, leathery, tobacco, spices, and boozy notes, same as it counterpart and other John Varvatos fragrances, performance and longevity are poor; Louis Vuitton Ombre Nomade EDP is a fantastic dark, incense, masculine fragrance but with low performance; Bvlgari Man In Black Men EDP by Bvlgari is one of the best designer’s leather fragrances, but lacks longevity; Mercedes-Benz Club Black Men EDT By Mercedes-Benz is an office-friendly incense, and leather fragrance. SUMMARY: A moderate projecting, incense, dark woods, leather, and spicy fragrance, with green and soft citrus accords. The fragrance feels bold, classy, commanding, dark, dry, exotic, formal, imposing, masculine, mature, mysterious, nocturnal, refined, smoky, and very pleasant.

This was one of the better purchases I made last year and I tried and bought quite a lot so it really says something as I kept putting this off. The only disappointment I've had from Issey Miyake was the L'eau d'issey sport due to the really bad performance. With the current 2 still for sale here's a comparison I would have "killed" for. To know last year. EDT - imagine terre d'hermes (edt) and drakkar noir were put in a blender. A spicy and sour grapefruit opening, being in a dark forest that it rained the previous day where there's wet soil on your shoes. This is old school, you've got to like stuff such as polo green, the dry down of paco rabanne pour homme (1973) where it stops being soapy and similar to enjoy this. This doesn't smell dated at all. If I was to give this one a color. A very dark green. Parfum - this went in a slightly youthful direction. Though this isn't a clubbing fragrance. There's a strong leather, a pink pepper that sparkles and it's got this coolness to your nose. Side by side this has VERY little to do with the EDT. It's quite unique smelling so if you want something different than everyone around you, try this. Performance is comparable to the EDT so nothing significantly higher. Color wise if I had to pick one for this too. A very dark blue. Back to the EDT. This one is the most quietest of the 3 mentioned. I find myself putting about 6 to 10 sprays on. This starts with this sweet and sour citrusy opening. The spices combine it to give it complexity and there's a ton of depth to this scent. Grapefruit is what you'll smell start to finish. It gives it this sweet, almost bitter citrus profile, reminiscent of Terre D'Hermes EDT if they ever did a night time version. As this dries down you get nuances of dark soil and wet forest like scents as well as a tiny bit of powderiness but due to everything else in this fragrance this doesn't get boring. Almost coca cola like in the base.I found this to be classy, a modern take on 70s and 80s era fragrances. Age wise anyone can pull this off. Just know you're not getting a sugary sweet clubbing fragrance, a gourmand like one million or a blue shower gel like fragrance. It's office safe, I grew up wearing Drakkar Noir in high school, it was an old fragrance when I wore it. Yet I'd still wear that and if this was around back then I'd wear this too. You'll like this if you like Guy Laroche - Drakkar Noir - the dark forest aspect of it Hermes - Terre D'Hermes - EDT - the citrus top notes mostly Ralph Lauren - Polo Green Paco Rabanne - Pour Homme (1973) - if you love the dry down but don't care for the opening this is for you.

This version didn’t receive the same prefix of its predecessors, but is part of the famous line of fragrances that has begun with L'Eau D'Issey, in 1994. In fact, this is the only criticism that I do, since it could be perfectly called L'Eau D'Issey pour Homme Nuit. Apart from that, only compliments. The manufacturer says that the concept of the fragrance is a ray of light in the darkness of the night. Nuit D’Issey has notes of bergamot and grapefruit, in the output; Black pepper, leather, vetiver, exotic spices and woody accord, in the heart; Patchouli, frankincense, tonka bean and ebony wood, in the base. On my skin, it didn't behave as a variation of the original cologne, but as one of its versions: L'Eau D'Issey Intense. And I was not surprised about that, since the latter also features bergamot, spices and incense in its composition. The biggest difference is in the presence of tonka bean, which gives an almondy and sensual aroma, kind of creamy, during the evolution. The heart of the fragrance lingers for hours, with a more versatile aura, which I attribute to the use of pepper and leather, which is almost raw. However, at the same time, it's not the same leather of niche fragrances, with dry aspect. The projection and the lasting are fantastic. On my skin, even after 10 hours of use, kept yielding praise. And I was not feeling the projection anymore, because of the olfactory fatigue. But, as far as I can tell, it just kept exuding. Honestly, I was amazed to read several negative comments about this scent. That’s okay if it sounds as biased praise, since I'm a fan of L'Eau D'Issey Intense and, as I said, they have a connection. Besides, it's not a very different cologne than has been already seen. On the contrary, it can remember some fragrances from the 80’s and 90’s, within the woody families. Anyway, I loved it! And I can tell you: don't be fooled by the name or the concept of a nocturnal fragrance. It fits very well in those days when you need a scent that cross the afternoon and stay alive until the end of the night. Not to fail to mention, the bottle kept the visual identity of the line, in dark color. If you look the bottle against the light, it features a gradient from dark-gray to black. For me, it deserves 10 stars!

This is such an underrated fragrance from a generally under rated house. I have a very large collection of fragrances ranging from cheapies, to high end niche scents but no matter what, I always find myself coming back to this fragrance again and again. I think Issey were 'inspired' by Blue de Chanel when composing this fragrance as it shares two very prominent notes, grapefruit and incense. However, it replaces the woods in the base of Blue de Chanel with leather here. For me this fragrance is all about these three notes which stand out about all the others clearly. The opening is dominated by a sharp (yes, synthetic) but generally really nice grapefruit note sitting on top of the smoky incense, leather and spices After 10 mins the grapefruit drops back (although is still present throughout the mid) and the incense and leather take center stage. I own many of the newer flankers of this fragrance including Pulse of the Night and Noir Argent and IMO the incense in here is much better than in PotN (although no where near as good as in Issey Or Encens which is an incense punch in the face and smells incredible). The mid lasts about 2 hours In the final few hours of the fragrance the black leather, ebony and incense are what is left on your skin until about the 6 hour mark when the frag is more or less spent. You can pick this up for £25 - £30 these days and IMO you absolutely should! It's a great evening scent which performs well and is such a nice change from all the overly sweet mainstream designers others around you will be rocking. This is dark and mysterious and all the muggles around you who aren't die hard frag heads will really like this smell. P.S. I do personally (marginally) prefer the Purfum version which I also own. The performance is about the same but the grapefruit is dialed back in that one and the emphasis is much more on the incense and leather, which are even more prominent. Personally I think both of the OGs are much better than Pulse of the Night and Noir Argent. The pick of the line however, is Or Encens and Noir Ambre if you can get hold of them.

So ironic that the overall rating is low but most of the actual reviews are positive. I kind of get it though. This one is unabashedly masculine and mature, so those under 35 who are hoping for a sweet clubber or even a flanker to the citrus-forward L'eau d'Issey aren't going to upvote this. It isn't a big crowd pleasing designer, but it isn't shishi enough for the niche club, so the target audience is small. If you took one part Paco Rabanne Pour Homme, one part Encre Noir a L'Extreme and one part Bentley for Men Intense, you would get the same effect (if not the same exact smell). This is a fougere at heart, but it wears a few outfits throughout the day. It opens with citrus and aromatics, moves into spicy territory with oakmoss, artemesia and a clovey/carnation accord. Some time later, a moderate but excellent vetiver note steps in with a touch of shaving cream and some woods, but the former elements don't go away, they just step back. Bits of incense, sandalwood, smoke and leather flit in and out along the way. This is some complex, evolving, somewhat challenging juice, and the wearer must have some confidence in your own masculinity to pull this off. This is good for bosses at work, and for mature men in long-term relationships. It rocks in a power suit or a leather jacket. Great for outdoor use, on a motorcycle ride or an al fresco restaurant or music event. If you love fougeres, this is a no brainer. If you like masculine scents that blend old school powerhouse accords with darker, softer, more modern elements, this is probably a winner for you. A final word: Most of the negative comments below talk about how synthetic this smells, or how poorly it performs. I disagree with both views. With 7 sprays on chest and shirt, you can smell this the next day. And compared with niches like BR540 and Tobacco Vanille, this one smells like the elements are hand-picked from the forest floor.

Issey Miyake - Nuit d’Issey 2014 EDT: It's a kind of classy Barbershop DNA type scent, with Black Pepper, Leather, Incense, Herbal and Aromatic and Balsamic notes, there is a faint Boozy note in there too. The Ebony is realistic, rich, smoky, deep, dark, luxurious and promonent. The sophisticated Ebony and Vetiver is slightly intoxicating and addictive, kind of reminiscent of smelling old Cognac barrels, but this is Ebony extract, not Oak barrel. Perfect for an Classy, well dressed Gentleman. Best use is chilly / cold weather on evenings and nights. I feel like a rich Genleman every time i use it. Where is my Bentley Continental GTC.? In my opinion there is too much Black Pepper, it overpower the delicious Leather notes. After ~2 hours it start fading, it get more like an old saltwater pier impregnated with tar. It's like being at our old saltwater pier in the summer. It's very authentic and realistic. After ~4 hours it need refreshing. Issey Miyake uses real and natural extracts. The quality is much higher, and better than the price we pay for real extracts, i do not understand why this has so low score. This is 4.8 out of 5 for me. We could get better longevity and sillage with chemicals, but there are so many unnatural alternatives out there, i rather keep it Au Naturale. I paid $34 for 75ml a year ago. I will buy another 125ml for $52. Maybe i'll go for 2 x 125ml. It's in my Top 10 Signature scents of all time.

Most of all this scent smells like hard, dark, smooth wood. It is a bit mysterious and very alluring. The fragrance is sweet, but not in a sugary way like so many other sweeter fragrances, It's a more subtle, hard, dry sweetness, that is in no way reminiscent of cake. It projects quite a bit, but not in an overpowering way. It creeps into your nostrils, and pulls you in. At first you're not quite aware of it, then you're not quite sure, where it's coming from, and you won't be sure until you're quite close to the skin of the wearer. Nuit d'Issey is quite unlike other scents I know of, and as such it is probably not a safe blind buy. But when you sample this be sure to do so in the late spring or summer depending on your climate (around 18 degrees celsius is probably optimal). It is billed as a winter scent, and I tried using it that way when I first bought it, and I was rather disappointed. But then, just for a laugh I tried it on a temperate summers eve, and suddenly the fragrance came to life. In the winter it has a quite unimaginative vibe, a little leather, a little sweetness, a little smoke, but quite cold and two dimensional. But on a cool summers eve paired with a dark suit as the twilight sets in, it transforms into an enigma of subtle nuances that you want to get close enough to solve.

It's a classic scent for a 2014 release; dark woods and spicy balanced with tonka bean. It's opening is very powerful. You cannot put your nose to your skin after spraying this. You will get a headache. Chill out and it come to you in the air. It doesn't smell like anything really available. It is unique just as the OG Issey pour homme was. The sillage has a hint of fresh citrus and spicy woods however, the drydown is the best part and after the top and middle fade away after an hour, the drydown is softened with creamy tonka bean. I never met a woman that wasn't impressed with this. I think women are more sensitive to fragrance than men. Stop killing your nose and shoving your wrists in the face after you spray and don't spray this on the front of your body. Sillage is really good and if spray too close to the nose, the woody and suede accord can get tiresome. This isn't like a modern shower gel spray. It's real perfumery and deserves your respect. Another thing to add, this is a fragrance for more formal attire. If you wear graphic t's and sandals skip this one and maybe save your money and buy an Adidas edt instead. This is what I wear when I wear a suit and tie. Friends love this and consider it my signature scent.

I agree with Mmmsniffer. 100%! THIS version, the OG, (not the castrated parfum version,) is amazingly good for a designer!!! This should be a 4.45 on here hands down. I am a niche head and every once in awhile if you're lucky, something sneaks out from the designer brands that actually smells niche. 2 come to mind....Boss Bottled Absolu and this!!! Lets keep it real. These 2...you're getting a deal for their price! My God this is underrated smh. The middle notes AND Base notes in this are oustanding. Ebony tree plus the incense, black pepper to intensify it. Plus leather, all of it screams Night time dark and mysterious. Not for the vanilla heads out there. This is Triad Alpha young or old, don't matter. Black longsleeve shirt or black sweater with a Black pea coat on an in the Late Fall/ all of Winter. *****Get your nose on this!!! No joke. I get it. There's a million flankers for Issey Miyake. It can be a bit much. THIS ONE. AMAZINGLY dark and mysterious. In fact if it's NOT on a list of "dark and mysterious scents for men".... then it's definitely not the list to go by. Scent is a 9.5 Sillage is good!!! Longevity is a good 7 -8 hrs.

Smells so different to what I expected. Definitely way more versatile than I thought given all the dark notes. I get this kinda old school mature woody and green scent meets new car leather with a citrus pop and fresh spiciness. Not saying this a blue style fragrance but when you catch random whiffs of it during the day, it just has this masculine woody aromatic feel of a blue fragrance. Projects quite strong for first hour but becomes more subdued, softer and a very faintly sweet creamy for the next 6ish hours. Will be getting many wears from me for all sorts of occasions and for 75ml for the equivalent of $36 USD, this was a very successful blind buy A week later spending time with this one and I can safely this is a blue fragrance. Really surprised this hasn't been said about this one. When you dig your nose to it you can detect the leathery green facets to it but out in the air and sniffing the atomizer, I can say this is in that sauvage and Dylan blue family just not as metallic and shower gelish. Think of a slightly older school vibe that birthed blue fragrance style. My batch is from 2024 in case there's variations

(Review of 125ml Bottle) The fragrance that made me fall in love with fragrances! Incredibly warm and super spicy on my skin and continues to grow in complexity as it stays on. Starts super pepper forward with freshness from the grapefruit and bergamot, then starts to warp into this beautiful woodsy, smoky, spicy freshness... it's impossible for me to describe all the nuances but this scent takes unbelievably well to my skin and lasts all day. Incredible, give this one a shot if you're into spicy fragrances. Update as of 4/21/25: This thing develops really well as you let it age. It's very difficult to describe - everything just grows RICHER, with much more body and nuance than I initially thought! Insane that now you can get these for such a cheap price. Impossibly great, even after all this time, and still my signature. My skin cherishes this fragrance with every spritz from the bottle the same as the first day I sprayed it. Those spices and pepper alongside those woods are to die for.

there's something in this that makes me feel somehow nostalgic. it's not that I have smelt this earlier, it's not possible, considering the release date. but something really reminds me of my childhood. I can't put it together where it's coming from, but it's so vibrant. And it's strange, because usually spicy-woody fragrances don't have this impact on me, they are mainly just go-to options to use in colder weather, except for this. Nuit d'Issey is an uplifting, cozy perfume that evokes the feeling of a warm, slightly balsamic embrace that's coming from a strong childhood memory. from the moment of first spray until the faint trace, it hugs you and doesn't let you go. these are the only words I can and must describe the beauty of it with. I am once again mystified by the sorcery of Dominique Ropion. I have tested only the parfum version and to be honest, with its sweet backbone, that flanker lacks the sophistication and artistry the EDT does.

Yet again I am blown away by the masterful perfumery that Issey Miyake fragrances provide. This is like something straight out of a Dark Fantasy movie. Cold, moist and brooding opening, that are almost like peering into a moist swamp enveloped by fog. And yet, it's still fresh and not overpowering, almost reminds me of wet woodchips, forest after a rain, old damp log of wood, or even just a really humid, cold cave. The drydown reminds me of Lalique's Encre Noire, but with much more depth to it. Very damp and cold. It performs extremely well even in this sickly humid summer (which was genuinely a surprise). I think that's thanks to the touch of showergel smell it has to it in the opening/mid. Overall, I could not be happier with this scent, it's everything I could ever want in a Dark perfume, and more. Very masculine, mysterious, and threading on the edge of occult. Simply supreme.

This is creeping closer to my Top 5 every time I wear it. I smelled this for the first time while buying Bleu De Chanel and I liked it so much that I questioned my decision to buy BdC and almost got this instead. I couldn't stop sniffing the test strip! I LOVE the incense in this scent! This is easily my favorite incense note I've ever smelled. The incense is similar to Bleu De Chanel, but that's as far as the similarities go. It has a spicy texture similar to Armani Code or YSL L'Homme and its flankers, but with a woody resinous scent that's just perfectly sweetened. Dark and woody. Nothing else I've smelled really smells quite like this does. It's sensual, yet calming. It stands out without standing out too far. It's strong but not cloying, lasts 9+ hours, fits casual, professional, AND nights out, and it's also VERY affordable. What more could you ask for?!

To me, this is an instant... turn on 😭 i was looking for birth day gift for my crush and bought a decant of this one. As soon as i try it on my hand, i do agree that it is generic and something in the middle or base notes is quite synthetic. But... idk guys, this aroused me. It is not sexy fragrance for man, it is a sensual witch craft that was created just to attract every women(who's have similar preference with me lol) on the street 😭 This scent is like the archetype guy in every romance web novel, film, or whatever fiction made for woman. That very masculine, dominating, sexy, strong, cool, mysterious, adored by a lot of woman but happened to set his eyes only for the female protagonist lmao. you know those hot all-in-black alpha werewolf male character, or the christian grey from 50 shades of grey? This nuit d issey is them.

I love this Issey Miyake fragrance. The output is very good, it is fruity-citrus and immediately the incense and leather begin to be felt, although in this first phase they still do not dominate. After 10 minutes it went to the second phase where the leather already shows all its presence, but also the spices give it a very rich and a little dark dressing, the woods also give it a touch of elegance, this second phase remains a little more than one hour, so far everything is going wonderfully, to finish with a rich base of tonka bean and patchouli. The fragrance has a tendency for autumn and winter use, and also for night use, due to the handling of leather, spices and the sweet touch. The sillage and longevity was good on me. In my perception it's not a very youthful fragrance, but try it whoever you want and use it if you like

Bought my second bottle today after a year of not having it jn rotation. I went to the perfuner with the intention of buying Nuit but wanted tio sample Wood and Wood, but the entire time the sales girl kept pointing and saying this one this one. I don't judge frags by compliments but Nuit has always garnered me compliments and women really love to smell it. I don't know why. I like it, but the original L'Eau D'Issey is my favorite. Nuit is very dark with a nice patchouli and tonka bean in the base. My new bottle is a 2015 and my previous was a 2014. I tried the parfum but it's too soft and a little bland for my tastes. I think the parfum was created for the people that claimed the original Edt was harsh. It can be harsh if you don't respect the sprayer. It lasts a long time on my skin and clothes.

Dragging my feet obtaining bottles from IM that I've wanted for years. This is one of them that I simply kept overlooking, but I am glad to have it in the collection. It is a bit of an interesting one, for sure. Somehow simultaneously dark and fresh? There is a light smokiness to this, and some leather/woodiness...but this seems to be significantly lighter on-skin than I was expecting. In contrast to the Intense flanker, this one isn't as potent, and doesn't project nearly as much. But that might be a good thing, in this case. It gets noticed, for sure. My wife really liked it. The incense note is particularly noticeable in the air, and I definitely would use this all year long (weather dependent). Average overall performance, but for the price, absolutely worth it.

Current fav, i notice women get close and talkative, and like bring up their ex.. I smelled this earlier and I thought it was someone else and I was going to ask them what it was and get it for sure! Later found out it was me.. i had it for like 3 weeks before I knew I loved it.. it was just an extra fragrance that became my favorite.. DEFINITELY GIVE IT TIME.. I think it needs to oxygenate/maturate or something seriously... insanely good.. in a sneaky way, right under our nose.. ... Its one of those that make you want to sell everything else and when you buy others, wonder why even bother with them.. it could be going to this... and guaranteed.. guaranteed.. best bang for your buck fragrance because its the best fragrance and inexpensive (definitely not “cheap”).

This is my favorite Issey Miyake fragrance. Despite the bad reviews and such i really think it looks unique with mainstream hints on it. To me it smells like dry soil + incense, it has that mainstream idea that can be found in many fragrances but also it has a crazy twist that makes it craziest Issey in my opinion. Definitely for cold fall nights, and warm winter nights. I do recommend a sweeter fragrance better in winter compared to this one, but you can still wear this and be fine with it. As far as compliments, i don't think you will get many with this in my opinion but still it has something that can get compliments in that. It really is a fragrance that makes you go a bit off road, not too much just in a good amount. TL;DR: soil + incense, for cold nights.

Dark, woody and masculine. Opens with some citrus alongside dark woody notes. At first it's slightly spicy and earthy. It darkens and smells like "wood chips." Becomes a little smoky and creamy. The spices increase (cumin?) and it becomes more aromatic; maybe some tobacco? It has a warm, "chypre-esque" profile, with notes of oakmoss and something sweet and coffee like. Gets a little musky after an hour; has a creamy sandalwood aroma and a faint chocolate note. Gets a little powdery and finishes with soft vanilla. It's an elegant modern chypre scent that would work best at night, hence the name. Great for a date. Would suit a guy aged 20-60(ish.) Performance is good. Projection moderate but lasts as a skin scent for 8hrs+. I love it.

This has remained a love for me from the very beginning. I’m glad to see more positive reviews below, as Nuit has never really been appreciated for how good it is. Very few fragrances have something in them that I’d truly call “mysterious” but this one does. Ebony, spices, vetiver, tonka, incense all lend to the mysterious darkness while remaining quite appealing. True, this is no niche house release that will challenge the sensibilities. But Nuit d’Issey is proof that something can be both in line with modern trends and artistic at the same time. Lasts a long while and smells so very good. The Nuit line has really been nailing it recently, but don’t overlook the OG here!

I had this already In my collection but always focused on the Parfum version because it's outperform this EDT on smoothness,clean smell, and also longevity. I was tried Noir Argent from a friend and surprisingly I think Noir Argent much similar to this EDT Rather than the Parfum version, this got more citric opening rather than Noir Argent mean while the Parfum version have no citric opening in my nose. This EDT feels more summer night friendly rather than the Noir Argent that warmer on the drydown, of course Noir Argent better than this EDT, but if we want to save up juice on Noir Argent we can use this as alternative. It's also much cheaper than the Noir Argent.

Nuit D'Issey EDT opens with a fresh blend of zesty bergamot and sharp grapefruit Immediately this perfume feels fully energising. Has a definate 'citrusy opening' with a subtle spicy pepper. I get the feeling of a warm masculine sophisticated composition. The middle or heart of the fragrance is a fine blend of leather and vetiver, and that distinctive black pepper. The combo creates a distinctive masculine aroma. TOTALLY LOVING this perfume! Smells rather resinous and I fully enjoy the deliciousness of that creamy, powdery vanilla tonka bean. This fragrance is spellbinding. Its allure lingers. BEAUTIFUL and MASCULINE. Thumbs Up 1,000% ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 STARS

To me this is the perfect night scent of all time. Its good for winter and fall wear as well on those colder days. It's affordable, timeless, mature and perfectly masculine. The scent is spicy woods and bergamot and all the notes play together to make a really pleasing dark scent. Absolutely 10/10 for price and scent profile, Sillage and longevity are in line for an edt with both being moderate on me. If you are contemplating on this or the edp, in my opinion the edt wins everytime. Although if we talk about the discontinued flankers of the edp.... completely different story. However those are hard to find for a good price point as of 2026.

It's been years since my last review, mostly because I toned down my buying/collecting of fragrances to keep my mind and wallet in check. Anyway, this is the only bottle I've purchased in the last 2 years and its become one of my signatures. It's spicy fresh, woodsy and unique. But not so unique that I can't figure out when/where to wear it. I wear it everywhere and anytime except outdoors in summer heat or if I'm traveling in car or plane. Performance is above average. It's also 100% masculine, but not dated at all. If I could compare it to anything, perhaps the now discontinued TF Noir Anthracite, but not as polarizing. Good stuff!

I am impressed by this Designer his fragrances do not Dissappoint and price is very reasonable. The performance could use a boost on the Sport cologne but this one is solid in every aspect without one note overpowering the others very well balanced and in its drydown has a smooth almost creamy disposition i would recommend to anyone looking to smell great on a date or semi formal/formal event it will not dissappoint and will draw compliments it does not give an over the top presentation but manages to exude a classy demeanor. Go for it you will be pleased Scent 7.5/10 Longevity 7/10 Sillage Moderate 6/10

The opening is like sticking your face in a bowl of rich, raw honey and it's sweet in a dark, smokey way. This is a beautiful, masculine, rich scent that, as others have mentioned, is wearable in many occasions but likely too strong for School/office/gym etc. It's rare that im so drawn to a scent on first sniff but this is definitely one of them! I can see this being great when layered with a light, fresh, powdery scent. I would certainly be interested in trying more of the Nuit D'issey line as this is a great start to the series. 9/10 for me and immediately on my shopping list.

sharp and dry, a semi-modern woody vetiver with a refreshing bit of citrus. after about an hour on the skin, the leather and spices really start to shine, though the citrus does remain in the background. on the dry down, I get a lot of patchouli and tonka, with hints of smokey incense. this is quite loud for about an hour/1hr30min, and then sits about six inches from the skin for 3 more hours after that before becoming a skin scent. this fragrance might not reinvent the wheel, but not every scent has to. it just smells darn good.

this one gets better with age. i had this in my collection for 2 years with out wearing it. i didnt like it at first so i put it in the back. after wearing several other great frags i finally wore it. wow! this is a really great mature masculine scent. i reminds me of a very refined toned down aqua di gio profumo. this stuff caused a stir amongst the women i work with. it was crazy. i didnt think i get respones with this scent. i was taken by surprise. this is going into my regular rotation from now on.

Worth every penny, underrated masterpiece. The most masculine and strong scent which I have tried yet, which I love personally, but might put others off. In my opinion it is somehow also very unique, and I haven't quite smelt anything like it. Price, longevity, sillage, scent, bottle/cap design, and even the name, wouldn't change anything. Absolute class, 10/10. The best way I can describe the type of smell is imagine a 30-40 year old man who smokes cigars and daily drives a old Bentley.

Another masterpiece by Issey Miyake! Dark, masculine, sweet and sexy dry down and it lasts incredibly long on my skin! I got it for 39€ from a Discounter store in San Marino and it was worth every penny, absolutely stunning masterclass of perfumery and one of my favourite designers. The opening can be a bit harsh and bitter for some but after that it becomes this smooth sweet masculine scent that’s just so soothing. My girlfriend loves it on me and so do I! Definitely recommend 10/10!

I don’t understand why people only claim this as a fall winter fragrance, this can be used any season any time in my opinion. This can almost be used as your bleu de Chanel’s or Dylan blues. It’s versatile. It gets a little dark, but the grapefruit stays with the woody incense for awhile through the life of the fragrance. I would add it has similarities to bleu de Chanel, not the same by any means, not as soapy, but they definitely share similarities.

Nuit d’Issey EDT is similar in it's dry down to Bleu de Chanel EDP which is a woodsy, incense based fragrance with much less of the Grapefruit Note at the forefront of BDC but in a good way. I get great performance with Nuit d’Issey EDT & Love It !!! However I would say to try & sample this if possible before blind buying,as I believe/IMO it is an acquired taste & leans a bit Niche especially for a relatively inexpensive designer fragrance.

What an underrated masterpiece. It’s deep, dark and rich enough for black tie affair, FOR SURE!!! You could also go very light on sprays and sit in an office while everyone wonders what that amazing scent is. This is so inexpensive, signature worthy and versatile that multiple backup bottles are warranted. It’s blue, it’s green, it’s fresh and clean. It also dark, mysterious and alluring. I’m glazing hard, but it’s sooooo good. BUY IT!!!

Very masculine and professional, but not in a challenging way like Encre Noir for example. It smells like a mix of new wooden/leather furniture and shaving cream. Clean, crisp, dark and classy. It ouzes confidence, but I wouldn't call it a date fragrance. Its too serious for the job. This one has the lowest rating in fragrantica from the whole nuit d'Issey line... Makes me wonder why would they discontinue most of the others? Shame...

Man it's a lovely fragrance. It's my second fav from issey's house. The first is astral and then this one, also They got some similarities. So anyway... Nuit d'issey... It's gothic, dark woody ,smokey, spicy and very well blended. It is of course synthetic, but in a good way. Also we got a subtle freshness at the base which is mixed well with smokey leathery aspects gives some cooling factor to its nature. Thumbs up buddy

This is a beautiful scent which really shines in the colder weather. There is a dark, mysterious and warming vibe running through the scent created by incense, leather, wood and spices behind a citrus top to create a very smooth, slightly sweet, appealing composition. Excellent longevity and sillage, particularly in colder conditions. Top quality Winter fragrance at an affordable price. 8/10

im kinda getting Black Afgano vibes off this one. sweet and spicy in the opening to woodsy and incense in the dry down . dark and rich in character without being too musky . a tasteful blend . a 9 out of 10 for me. looking forward to wearing it more . great for any night that isnt too hot, aptly named. wonderful offering from .Issey an alter genius . thank you for this one.

Bored people goes and hit the des like button for nothing , this fragrance got class and high quality performance you can never imagine , best top notes and I love the dark sweetness and sugar here .. N'uit D'issey. An awesome fragance for me; but no crowd pleaser. Very masculine and powerful and if you are good on the trigger, is a good all year round fragance. Better for guys 25 and up on my opinion. Reminds me of a stronger, richer version of some good body sprays out there. Best feature: Longevity; Main Challenge: Uniqueness; Overall: 9/10

A gorgeous and classy woody and fruity perfume with leather. Beautifully blended and smooth. Excellent longevity and silage too. In the dry down I can detect some nutty notes too which reminds me of City Tower. Performance is good in both longevity and silage. I'm very happy with this, it's beautiful. I'll buy this again.

Glad someone else said it(too, LOL)! It's like a slightly milder Narciso Rodriguez for sure. I was snapping my fingers and eventually guessed it as that in the drydown. The opening isn't actually very good. Great longevity/sillage stayed on skin hours. Should've maybe got the bigger bottle but 75ml is adequate I suppose.

i agree with everyone who would call this mysterious. this is a very solid release from issey miyake. the name is very fitting. the incense note is gorgeous. the usage of this frag is though, as the name implies, limited to cold weather and night time. I wouldn't use it in any other way. good job issey miyake :)

Fresh opening to a very dark and smokey dry down that is gorgeous for the price. you get something slightly peppery and bitter, slightly incense smokiness topped off with a tinge of sweetness. The EDT definitely beats any other variations. First fragrance i truly fell in love with, sort of my gateway.

Nuit d’Issey Issey Miyake for men a very good One from mistake as the leather , patchouli & incense works just grate on my skin. Longivity : around 8 hours. Projection : 6 hours. Smell : 7/10. P.s. can't wait to try the EDP edition. Thumps Up ! Mistake.

I like it alot. Its deep and sexy but not heavy, its dark but it has light moments. Its like a walk at spring time at nght below stars and some citrus canopy of some oriental citrus, and some spicies and incense in the air from local shrine or temple.

Crafted by two master perfumers it's a true masterpiece 🏆❤️ I don't think you can smell only great with expensive fragrances! I get more compliments with eau issey Nuit than with Creed Aventus 👍😊 Perfect scent for the fall 🍁 & winter 🌃 nights 👍

Dark, woody, really good smell definitely feels like a good choice for autumn. More masculine could be longer-lasting, but overall definitely worth the money! One of my absolute favourites! Best bottle design in my collection so far :)

Surprisingly, I really like the scent. It;s a little 'sweet' and synthetic smelling to me, but..; It's a lovely 'classy' scent for the colder months and at night time, especially. Inexpensive too!
